Citing concerns with “cold weather,” nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say-no- more / say-no-more, President Trump announces via Truth Social that his swearing in and inauguration speech will now be moved inside and take place in the Capitol rotunda.
Truth Social – “January 20th cannot come fast enough! Everybody, even those that initially opposed a Victory by President Donald J. Trump and the Trump Administration, just want it to happen. It is my obligation to protect the People of our Country but, before we even begin, we have to think of the Inauguration itself.
The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the windchill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows. There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way. It is dangerous conditions for the tens of thousands of Law Enforcement, First Responders, Police K9s and even horses, and hundreds of thousands of supporters that will be outside for many hours on the 20th (In any event, if you decide to come, dress warmly!).
Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather. The various Dignitaries and Guests will be brought into the Capitol. This will be a very beautiful experience for all, and especially for the large TV audience!
We will open Capital One Arena on Monday for LIVE viewing of this Historic event, and to host the Presidential Parade. I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In.
All other events will remain the same, including the Victory Rally at Capital One Arena, on Sunday at 3 P.M. (Doors open at 1 P.M.—Please arrive early!), and all three Inaugural Balls on Monday evening.
Everyone will be safe, everyone will be happy, and we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” [LINK]
We are not privy to, nor should we speculate about, the security threat matrix that President Trump is now facing. Suffice to say, having survived two assassination attempts and with the overwhelming concern of the American electorate already visible online, I strongly doubt anyone is disappointed with this decision.
We want President Trump safe. We know there are no limits to the severity of the opposition he is facing. There are literally trillions at stake, and the media has painted President Trump as a “threat to democracy” for multiple years, reaching a fevered pitch during the campaign season.
I don’t care if it is a simulcast event from a secure bunker somewhere, just keep the weirdos away, and keep President Donald J. Trump safe.
Whatever it takes! Just keep him safe!
WASHINGTON DC – Donald Trump and JD Vance will be sworn in to office inside the Capitol Rotunda on Monday — instead of outside the Capitol — as Washington, D.C. braces for dangerously cold temperatures, the president-elect posted on Truth Social.
The entire inauguration ceremony, including prayers and speeches, will move indoors. The last time cold weather scuttled the outdoor inauguration ceremony was in 1985 when Ronald Reagan was sworn into his second term. James Monroe’s second inauguration was also held inside the Capitol, in the House chamber, because of a snowstorm.
The National Weather Service is projecting sunny weather at the National Mall on Monday, with a high of around 23 degrees. (more)

So, kinda like the casting central Obama did for the dead Joe that nobody saw, except for better reasons.
Good news !
Given all the security concerns, I think this is a smart move !
THANK G-D!!!!!!!!!!
I have been an advocate of him taking the oath at Mara Largo and THEN flying to DC on AF1 with all its bells and whistles…the only thing that is making me sigh is he is staying at Trump Doral until the ceremony…sad that the safest places for him are his own properties…I am not even comfortable with the White House these days….
I imagine it will be like the movies, they’ll need to rip the White House down to the studs to get all the Democrat-installed listening devices out of the walls.
Every staff holdover from the Biden administration should be considered a “Democrat-installed listening device.”
Kinda like when Pres. Teddy Roosevelt had his terriers chase the rats out of the White House.
That took place during Trump Term 1. Recall that PDJT said at the time that “gold” was found behind the White House walls.

candid photography, yes

lol
Sorry Bud….going back on my quest to find the answer. 🙁
Say no more! 😉
I’ve lived in the Midwest and Philly. One thing I noticed when it got “bitterly cold” (below 20 degrees) in Philly, and the mid-Atlantic area, was that many people just didn’t know how to dress. I looked like an Eskimo compared to my fellow commuters, but I was warm.
If the high is to be 23 degrees, that will probably be mid-afternoon, so morning to noon would be chillier, especially with the wind chill.
But weather aside, I’m glad it’s indoors, for safety reasons. I just hope this was not in response to a specific threat.
The Philly area is going down to 2 degrees F that morning. DC and Northern VA will be a few degrees warmer.
That is dangerously cold for any senior. And someone in their late 70s should avoid that.
Weather Underground says DC Noon temp will be 24, with a feels like temp of 11 on Monday. I think this is a smart decision, as if the visit to Capital One..
I’m happy I live in the south, but even then, we’re supposed to get our first snow in 7 years Tuesday night. I’m staying home for that.
Globull warming, eh? 🙂
We’re actually in a global cooling period.
William Henry Harrison served March 4 to April 4, 1841. Cold weather at inauguration.
Died due to complications from pneumonia.
Yeah, native Vermonter here. Me too. I dress like an Eskimo too. Don’t care how I look. Just be warm!
LOL Growing up in Alaska where it’s -40F In the spring I gotta laugh. I worked outside for 40 years repairing heavy Mining Equipment. After work We Trapped when that was finished we would run up river on the Snowmachine.
May our Lord Jesus sitting at Gods right hand keep him safe the next 4 years.
I grew up in NE Montana, spent years in ND and MN where -30/-38 were not unusual. -20 was normal.
The temps are not the only issue.
There are way too many people who truly do not understand that hypothemia can happen when it’s 40 above zero (F). It’s not the air temp that causes hypothermia–it’s the failure to protect body temperature.
Individuals (of any age) who might be enthusiastic about attending the inauguration may not have the appropriate clothing or experience/understanding of how to use clothing to avoid hypothermia or frostbite.
In attendance at such an event, they wouldn’t be working outside; generally speaking, they would be standing still.
Lack of experience sets a person up for lots of bad outcomes. I live in the PNW now: I know very well how to drive in a blizzard, on packed snow, and on ice (black or otherwise)…but when those conditions occur here (and they do), I stay home–not because I don’t know how to manage but because a whole bunch of the people who are out on the roads do not know how. We need to acknowledge others’ limitations and be a bit resilient at times.
The weather is going to be bad, so a reason that will pass muster to the casual observer.
Praying everyone stays safe.
“Whatever it takes! Just keep him safe!”
IN JESUS NAME, AMEN!
Amen!! I am breathing a huge sigh of relief🙏🏻.
No, it’s going to be dangerously cold there on the 20th. Single digits in the mid-Atlantic, even before wind chill.
Good for a 78 year old to do it inside. Much safer, too.
MAGA approves!
Not only that, but the DC area is getting snow all day Sunday, the day before the inauguration. We still have snow on the ground from the last storm. The bitter cold means that the snow and ice will stick around awhile. I’m all for the President being inaugurated indoors just on that basis.
For folks wanting to know about the coming storms on Sunday and the cold on Inauguration Day:
There WAS a POTUS, that got sick after the inaugeration, and died after, IIRC.
William Henry Harrison in 1841. Died from pneumonia ~43 days after giving a 2-hour inauguration speech in the cold, damp DC weather. Shortest presidency in US history.
I never knew that swamp could be worse -but I guess a frozen swamp fills the bill…
Nothing comes before the safety of President Trump.
I am relieved and happy he will take the oath of office in the Capitol rotunda.
There could be no more awe inspiring and majestic setting.
As a devout Catholic I commit to one hour of Adoration every Monday from 11-12. On the twentieth I will dedicate this time of prayer to the safe inauguration of our President and the protection of our country.
I volunteered to fill in for someone at the 6 o’clock hour that evening to offer prayers of thanksgiving to God.
Thanks!
I wouldn’t care if he skipped it altogether, and just swore in, and then to work signing EOs and firing people. This Administration has absolutely no time to waste. Do the Justice of the Peace ceremony and then come back in a year and do the church wedding.
I could handle that, too, Magadonian03. We are going to have a big 250th anniversary in 2026 anyway–just that much more to celebrate, IMO.
However 20 January is done, it will be done with an air of intense gratitude to God for mercifully bringing us this particular day.
I’ll be at Old State Saloon in Eagle, ID, doing brunch and watching the swearing in with fellow MAGA patriots.
Cheers–and may God be praised!
Nice! Exactly what my wife and I did… justice of the peace one day (state laws based on our ages), and then a big wedding two days later. So to this day we’re not sure which date to call our anniversary. All I know is later on this year we’ll be hitting our 50th! Wait what… can that be right? 😀
Congrats.
Congratulations and I hope you have many more years TOGETHER!!! 🙂
Amen!

I think that was a good job satirizing what the Regime Media will be screeching this weekend.
The safety of PDJT is the most important concern for this country. Nothing, and I mean nothing should take precedence over this for the next 4 years.
And for the whole world
It’s almost like the socialists left the borders wide open for four years just in case PDJT45 became PDJT47 and they need an army of military aged males from countries that hate us to act.
A May day in the upper 70s would still be too dangerous from the likes of Biden and his killer drones, etc. Boy, am I glad its inside but still keep the guns away from DC police.
Can we make certain that the cop who murdered Ashli Babbitt will not be allowed in the building?
Probably not – but we could probably get PDJT’s favorite Secret Service team to delegate his second favorite team to sit on that basturd.
FWIW, for a while now my daily prayers have including keeping President Trump, his family, staff, supporters and (recently added) nominees safe.
Also, that if President Trump has a mission to complete on at the behest of God, that it be allowed to be completed in full, in accordance with His will.
MAGA – for it to consummate – also requires Making America Godly Again!
Thomas, I think we’ll be seeing a revival in this county. I truly think so. I absolutely believe that is one of the major reasons that Father GOD has raised up DJT ‘for such a time as this’.
I think changing to a roofed-over space is at least a start at answering prayers.
Ditto
I wish he would do it from a bunker and skip the events. There’s just too much at stake and the opposition is desperate.
I like it.
I wonder if this puts a kinks in the plans any Antifa or crazy Karens with knitted genitalia on their heads had for demonstrating on Monday.
I think they should stick to principles, and to be sure to assemble in the early morning hours. Drink lots of hot coffee. Then stand there freezing with a strong need for a rest room.
The 2″ of snow on Sunday and freezing temps will probably keep them in mommy’s basement.
Fortunately the move inside the Capitol will be a major kink in many plans I’m sure.
I can’t think of anything more uncomfortable than freezing and needing to pee.
The FBI states there are no threats against President Trump on the day…
Okay…
And here comes a polar vortex.
I have said elsewhere we all know that the Lord works in mysterious ways.
I wonder…and yet I do not.
President knows who orchestrated Butler.
He’s hiring…

The weather before D-Day was not promising. Then the Allied forecasters saw a break in the weather starting around June 5.
The rest is history.

I thank you, Wethal, for posting this, a part of history I have read many times but had forgotten.
“…the Lord works in mysterious ways.”
Betsy, I was thinking exact same thing when I read PDJT’s announcement.
Let us pray:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Amen, kf 🙏🏻
Because a rightgeous battle it is, for the soul of our Republic.
Love the picture Bet..👏👏and I think you are right “not to wonder “..😘
🇺🇸💪😀👍
It is perhaps the most inspiring one I have, dear Jim💕
Michael! The warrior Archangel! Very cool pic.
Michael’s tall.
I thought that was Barron… then I looked a little more closely… not Barron…
A Very Powerful image Betsy!
Thank you!
They are all around us, Bormir.
You’re.welcome.
Love that picture!!! Put on the whole Armor of God. Ephesians 6: verses 11 through 17.
Dear Lord, we pray that you protect our President, Donald J. Trump, so thank you for this cold weather. Your beautiful and powerful blessings arrive in many forms. We ask that you send the mightiest of angels to protect him from those who seek to hurt or destroy him. In Jesus name, we humbly pray. Amen
I understand the safety concerns.
But if you have tickets and planned to go, you should stay home? Or will there be some activities for the masses outside?
They are opening the Capital One arena for people to go and watch a live broadcast.
Very helpful – thank you!
Big heavy jackets hide big heavy weaponry…just sayin’
those who would do harm
are involved in our own government
if there are any weirdos involved
they have been groomed by a faction
of our evil government.
I suspect that the pieces are already
in place to blame Iran
A high temp of 23 degrees F is pretty damn cold. There may be nothing more to it than that.
It matters where you live. The average high in northern Wisconsin in January is 20 degrees. If you dress for it and are acclimatized for it, it really isn’t bad.
Gonna be 45 d in Florida! Break out the parkas!
Poor iguanas.
That is cold for Florida. Stay warm.
May God bless him, and keep him safe.
Keep everyone safe and healthy.-
Looking forward to a prosperous future, better than ever.
Agree.
Very good news! More secure and controlled. God’s hand is over our 47th President.
Now that I’ve given it some thought it might be Divine Providence moving the oath of office indoors, not only to protect from extreme cold but any malevolent acts against the President and Americans who place their trust in God.
Great idea – very glad to hear that!
Now if we were in the midst of a “Covid Plandemic” you couldn’t do that!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .
weatherwise in California . . .
our Santa Ana winds in Southern California . . . I am just waiting to hear some weather expert that our “classic” Santa Ana winds that have been part of our weather pattern for years and years are now somehow connected to “climate change”.
It is really horrible what is happening to MY beautiful California!
Here the “weather experts” were warning, I think even banning, the use of home fireplaces during the Christmas season due to the pollution that would put into the air and yet . . . and yet . . . we are now saturated with pollution due to the mismanagement of resources that made these recent fires so very much worse.
Now the news from last night about a beautiful little part of California . . . Moss Landing . . . oh, I loved that little place where my brother took me for the day in July 1989 . . . it was just amazingly peaceful, quiet, no hubbub, little fishing boats, a basket of fried artichokes . . . it was so serene in an unselfconscious-way. I did not even know what had been inflicted on beautiful little Moss Landing . . . a gigantic lithium battery plant!?! With that little estuary flowing out to the sea . . . the nearby agriculture?
Now a horrible fire . . . just have to wait to let it burn itself out.
California “leadership” really has everything upside-down and half-ass backwards . . . we are seeing our beautiful agriculture disregarded and destroyed . . . our Governor and other “leaders” are more concerned about that smelt being endangered . . . what about human beings being endangered?
How is it that holy hell is raised over dams and nuclear power plants but they allow a ginormous lithium battery plant to be built in a beautiful little sweet place like Moss Landing?
I’ve been getting texts to join 250,000 at the outdoor event. Have no idea where they will be placed.
Well, I’ve been working hard at cadging some tickets for this event since early November…and this week, I finally managed to obtain some, so of course I am disappointed in the turn of events. That being said, I just turned 74 this month and was wondering how I would handle the intense cold in my dotage…now I no longer have to worry. Fortunately, I live nearby so I don’t have to cancel plane flights, rental cars, or hotel reservations…it’s the Patriots coming from far away that I feel sorry for. There will be a watch party at the Verizon Center, but it can only hold about 20K which is only a tenth of the number of tickets distributed, sigh.
In any event, I went to the last one 8 years ago and had a blast with my fellow MAGA patriots. Even if we don’t get to repeat that experience, safety is still the most important concern and I know President Trump took that into consideration in making this decision. Man plans, God smiles…twas ever thus.
Let’s count our blessings and get off to a good start on Monday. Carry on y’all!
I don’t think he should even walk any portion of the parade route.
Gateway Pundit is running the story about a diabolical plan, but I don’t want to repeat it or give it legs.
I’m delighted the ‘plans have changed’.
The arctic cold temperatures and snow are a blessing from Almighty God. Our Heavenly Father blesses and protects those who worship Him.
The weather forces all of the festivities to secure areas indoors. Thanks be to God!
Merciful Father, please continue to bless and protect President Trump, his family, and his loyal allies and supporters. Please God, heal our land.
A good and pragmatic decision but a sad commentary on the state of the country.
Even Lincoln was able to make not one but two inaugural speeches from the Capitol portico, one of which was made three years into a civil war in which over 400,000 people had already died… although the second one has a photograph which captured JWB looming over him.
This decision also removes the optics of the spiteful “Half-Flag” decree.
Fantastic! God works wonders every single day! If He wants him in there, there will be no one that can harm him.
I am relieved and happy it will be indoors.
Godspeed Mr. President. ♥️
I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Thank God.
January 20th is winter. Always has been. Cold happens in winter. And yet everyone is cancelling things in Denver (“out of an abundance of caution”) because it is predicted to be cold this weekend.
President Trump’s statement is the first cold-weather cancellation I’ve seen in four years that I fully support, because the real concern is the political atmosphere, weather, and climate. I’m praying and have been praying. One encouraging thought is, the enemy has seen this day coming for many months now. And yet they haven’t succeeded in doing anything to him. They might be finding their support is eroding fast as the day of reckoning approaches?
Just keep President Trump far away from the Ford Theater.
President Reagan’s swearing in for his second term also saw bone-chilling cold. It was somewhere around zero degrees F, and that swearing in was done indoors as well.
Every other swearing in (in modern history) has taken place outdoors.
I think President Trump is ushering in an end to “Global Warming” on his inauguration day! Thank you sir!!
Eliminates the “lone” gunman option on Day One
Another mysterious move of God to protect PDJT? 🙏🏼
2 for 1, a slap in the face to “global warming” and to keep the punks inside sipping on hot cocoa.
This Canadian President Trump supporter and this wiser half will be flying down from Greater Vancouver British Columbia to Las Vegas on Sunday.
Like election week we will share with decent and patriotic Americans a truly historic event.
Cheers to all that made this possible!
Fantastic! I am assuming that you and your wiser half will be staying at Trump Tower again?
Congratulations on making the trek to support PDJT and his mission to save American and make this hemisphere Great Again.
Unfortunately not this time..we got a “ cracking deal” last time.
Big bucks asked when we enquired last month.
We will be having a meal or two there though..
For such a high end restaurant with A+ service.
One gets terrific value, especially the “ Trump Burger”
I am Scots and we invented copper wire when two of my compatriots fought over a copper penny 😉
Yes I was relieved when I saw this. I didn’t even want to think about the unthinkable.
A look back at the weather on Inauguration Days of the past
https://thenationaldesk.com/news/the-national-weather-desk/a-look-back-at-the-weather-on-inauguration-days-of-the-past
Coldest: 1985: Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration was also held indoors in the Capitol Rotunda and the parade was cancelled. The noon temperature was just 7. Wind chills were -10 to -20. [for Trump with 15MPH wind chill it will be around 8 degrees F – W]
Warmest: 1981. It was 55 during Reagan’s first inauguration.
Snowiest: 1909. 10 Inches of snow forced William Howard Taft’s ceremony indoors
Rainiest: 1937. 1.77 inches of rain fell before, during and after Frank Delano Roosevelt’s second inauguration. FDR rode back to the White House in an open car with half-an-inch of water on the floor.
Worst Traffic: 1961. 8 inches of snow fell the day before John F. Kennedy’s inauguration, causing a terrible traffic jam. JFK skipped dinner plans and got only 4 hours of sleep. The Army Corps of Engineers and Washington, DC workers helped clear snow from the parade route as well as move hundreds of cars that were abandoned in the snow.
Johnny
Heck, where’s that global warming when you need it!
“I don’t care if it is a simulcast event from a secure bunker somewhere, just keep the weirdos away and keep President Donald J Trump safe.
Whatever it takes! Just keep him safe!”
I echo these sentiments. As PTrump has said…January 20 cannot come quick enough.
I would prefer PTrump be sworn in from an indoor, remote, and undisclosed location away from DC, and his first afternoon’s work subsequently follow in the hours thereafter at that same remote, undisclosed location.
After he has begun (and after the cold weather has passed), then let him come to the White House, with all the celebration he deserves!
Correct!
