Something very interesting and openly obvious is happening amid the backlash that Elon Musk and the Silicon Valley network are facing to their H1B position.
Effective December 26, Elon Musk changed the Twitter algorithm to diminish those voices who would openly confront his network of supporters within Silicon Valley and beyond. If large follower Twitter accounts, like those of Musk himself, David Sacks, Vivek Ramaswamy and Musks’ promoted network of influencers begin blocking accounts on the platform, then the voices of those accounts get purposefully diminished by the algorithm.
Much like having a VIP section that can remove people from the audience, Musk is pushing opposing viewpoints into the background of the public square.

The timing of this is not accidental. The allies of Musk have been getting blasted by some rather large MAGA accounts over the H1B visa position of the Silicon Valley team. In response, Musk is pushing those opposition voices out of the conversation. This is another way for the newly aligned tech group to maintain influence over the policy of President-elect Donald Trump. In fact, I have been informed this is exactly the purpose.
President Trump previously announced that David Sacks would lead the tech, crypto and AI policy group. The team being assembled by Sacks all support extended use of H1B visas to bring in “high skilled” foreign workers. The Musk team do not want publicly visible opposition to impede their agenda.
To be fair, it makes sense for the tech network to do this because it’s akin to President Trump’s incoming chief of staff, Susie Wiles, saying she would not let what she defines as “clown car people” influence President Trump. It’s an issue of controlling a very directed policy initiative. However, the issues around immigration in general, and H1B visas specifically, are critically important to many of the long-term Trump supporters.
Elon Musk is building a bubble around Donald Trump to diminish opposition to the technocratic influence.
Mr Musk is shutting out, or at least making quiet, the core MAGA base while elevating a new group of arrivals that support Donald Trump.
The new group of influential technocrats, billionaires in the tech industry and platform control operators, do not hold the same ideological interests as the core MAGA base. This is part of the reason for the conflict over the past week on the subject of H1B workers.
Musk’s decision to essentially put a super moderator system in place that can control and silence the microphone on Twitter, is a specific move that represents what some, me included, have been warning about. This group of tech influence agents do not have the same priorities as expressed within the MAGA base of voters.
This is the same basic policy justification behind the “shadowbanning” and platform manipulation previously instituted by Twitter to silence opposition to the COVID-19 vaccination. Only this time it is Elon Musk instituting the algorithmic manipulation, to silence opposition to David Sacks, Vivek Ramaswamy, Sriram Krishnan, Peter Thiel, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jacob Helberg and eventually JD Vance.
If the technocrats control the visible public conversation that’s not supporting free speech. That’s manipulation and selective censorship of the audience. This approach is exactly how social media was being controlled in the era of COVID. The new boss motives are the same as the old boss motives, the policy behind it is the difference.

‘In fact, nothing bad happened, it was simply a conversation, and it’s the left who is trying to divide us!’ But to tell people long targeted by an elite demoralization campaign that they shouldn’t believe what they heard with their own ears and blame it on others is predatory.

There were always going to be uncomfortable moments inside the tenuous MAGA alignment with the billionaire technocrats; however, this is not that. This is far beyond uncomfortable moments. Immigration and jobs for Americans first, are core issues for millions of Americans. The Silicon Valley response to controlling that conversation is not good.
Ultimately, as we are all witnessing, many of these people do not have our best interests at heart.

Decades ago I read in a local Seattle paper an article in part on the role of the University of Washington Computer Science Department in the explosion of software development in Washington State ~40 years ago. Microsoft, Oracle, and many others grew MASSIVELY and at the same time the UW CS Dept. stayed the same size. Not just Bill Gates or Larry Ellison but any of their no-name flunkies could have just called up the Governor (either party, until the communists took over the Dems in 2020, the corporate empire faction controlled both -> uniparty) and asked for an expansion, and they would have gotten it no questions asked.

The recent temper tantrums by Elon, Vivek, et al reminded me of something my Dad used to do. When one of us kids complained about the house rules and threatened to run away Dad would grab an empty lunch bag. Dad would calmly explain that if we couldn’t live with the rules and needed to leave he would not stand in the way. He said we could take everything with us we came with, hand us the empty sack, and tell us to strip on the way out the door.
You do have to give Musk some credit. Musk had the vision and drive and money to make Tesla into a reality and build it into the most valuable business in the entire industry, worth almost as much as the entire rest of the industry combined. He has revolutionized industry after industry – payment systems, automobiles, solar, space launch, etc.
But he is not all-knowing or all-capable. His expertise in business and tech do not give him expertise in trade policy or immigration policy or politics.

One good thing that came out of this is learning what a TOTAL SCAM the H1B India tech really IS. Glad we are all finding out just how bad and crooked this is beyond what we had been told.
For most of my life the Associated Press and UPI, along with the 3 major national TV networks controlled what we were allowed to know and determined what was news.

The 2nd thing to appear is the Presidential/ resistance political thread, which is open to most political topic posts and there is quite a bit of leeway as to what is allowed as ‘presidential, government, and political’ . So there’s your second chance to post appropriate comments.
And then there are different threads/articles that are posted that are…well…gee whiz…topical and germane to the subject presented and all comments should be at least loosely related and germane to that topic. If you have different or “off topic” comments that you feel you must make, why not make them in one of the two other threads mentioned above?

It seriously bummed me out. I mentioned it here on the Treehouse, and even emailed Sundance a couple times asking him to pass along a message to Devon Nunes. I assume that Sundance acted, as the ban on my account was ultimately lifted.
I was told in a message they thought I was a bot.
I never posted, though followed some, including you.
The other day in the wake of Mr. Baphomet’s temper tantrum and the understanding of Don Jr’s filtering in of the all the Tech Demi-Gods, I decided to can my Truth Social account as well.
Also, I HAVE experienced shadow banning on Rumble, specifically in publishing a song “Freedom Convoy I see the Crowds”. In the early days, when they had ‘rumbles’ that song out of all of mine, was not allowed rumbles.
When they switched to a model of likes and dislikes, my previously published songs magically appeared with an arbitrary and not credible like/dislike pattern.
So to summarize, I have experienced forms of shadow banning on Facebook, Nextdoor, Rumble and Truth Social. That is a fact.
Even though I have a username here, I have disclosed my identify by posting my own music and some other items.

As someone that worked in tech and dealt with H1-B’s I am VERY disappointed how PDT has handled this entire situation. He is taking the technocrats side. The H1-B is a corporate scam (can’t emphasize enough their coding usually sucks and most often requires rework). This scam has costs many qualified Americans jobs.
If others feel as I do I believe 2026 will be a bloodbath. Many will sit it out. Between the H1-B mess, the CR mess, Speaker Johnson and all the other drama things aren’t lookimg good.
I am not the only one with these views. The H1-B issue is a hard stop for many no matter how much they love PDT.
