Something very interesting and openly obvious is happening amid the backlash that Elon Musk and the Silicon Valley network are facing to their H1B position.
Effective December 26, Elon Musk changed the Twitter algorithm to diminish those voices who would openly confront his network of supporters within Silicon Valley and beyond. If large follower Twitter accounts, like those of Musk himself, David Sacks, Vivek Ramaswamy and Musks’ promoted network of influencers begin blocking accounts on the platform, then the voices of those accounts get purposefully diminished by the algorithm.
Much like having a VIP section that can remove people from the audience, Musk is pushing opposing viewpoints into the background of the public square.

The timing of this is not accidental. The allies of Musk have been getting blasted by some rather large MAGA accounts over the H1B visa position of the Silicon Valley team. In response, Musk is pushing those opposition voices out of the conversation. This is another way for the newly aligned tech group to maintain influence over the policy of President-elect Donald Trump. In fact, I have been informed this is exactly the purpose.
President Trump previously announced that David Sacks would lead the tech, crypto and AI policy group. The team being assembled by Sacks all support extended use of H1B visas to bring in “high skilled” foreign workers. The Musk team do not want publicly visible opposition to impede their agenda.
To be fair, it makes sense for the tech network to do this because it’s akin to President Trump’s incoming chief of staff, Susie Wiles, saying she would not let what she defines as “clown car people” influence President Trump. It’s an issue of controlling a very directed policy initiative. However, the issues around immigration in general, and H1B visas specifically, are critically important to many of the long-term Trump supporters.
Elon Musk is building a bubble around Donald Trump to diminish opposition to the technocratic influence.
Mr Musk is shutting out, or at least making quiet, the core MAGA base while elevating a new group of arrivals that support Donald Trump.
The new group of influential technocrats, billionaires in the tech industry and platform control operators, do not hold the same ideological interests as the core MAGA base. This is part of the reason for the conflict over the past week on the subject of H1B workers.
Musk’s decision to essentially put a super moderator system in place that can control and silence the microphone on Twitter, is a specific move that represents what some, me included, have been warning about. This group of tech influence agents do not have the same priorities as expressed within the MAGA base of voters.
This is the same basic policy justification behind the “shadowbanning” and platform manipulation previously instituted by Twitter to silence opposition to the COVID-19 vaccination. Only this time it is Elon Musk instituting the algorithmic manipulation, to silence opposition to David Sacks, Vivek Ramaswamy, Sriram Krishnan, Peter Thiel, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jacob Helberg and eventually JD Vance.
If the technocrats control the visible public conversation that’s not supporting free speech. That’s manipulation and selective censorship of the audience. This approach is exactly how social media was being controlled in the era of COVID. The new boss motives are the same as the old boss motives, the policy behind it is the difference.

‘In fact, nothing bad happened, it was simply a conversation, and it’s the left who is trying to divide us!’ But to tell people long targeted by an elite demoralization campaign that they shouldn’t believe what they heard with their own ears and blame it on others is predatory.
So, yes H1B matters because it’s an effect of the core issue — indeed the reason DJT is POTUS — a political and corporate establishment that has waged a half-century long campaign to destroy the American middle class. (LINK)
There were always going to be uncomfortable moments inside the tenuous MAGA alignment with the billionaire technocrats; however, this is not that. This is far beyond uncomfortable moments. Immigration and jobs for Americans first, are core issues for millions of Americans. The Silicon Valley response to controlling that conversation is not good.
Ultimately, as we are all witnessing, many of these people do not have our best interests at heart.

The single best way to discourage young Americans from going into STEM tech fields and to create an actual shortage is to punish tech graduates and their peers by taking away their hard-won jobs and giving those jobs to lower-paid foreigners on H1B visas. Smart people quickly figure out they are being screwed over and they need to go find a different line of work.
That is exactly what has happened. Is it any wonder why there are many people who would major in STEM, but then realize that there would be no work for them after much effort and money?

President Trump now has a huge mess on his hands, and let’s see if – and it’s a bit ‘if’ – he has back up people other than Musk Ramaswamy and Sacks to head up those initiatives of government efficiency and establishing guidelines of the crypto currency platforms.
If the backup people for those initiatives are not actually born and raised Americans with track record of doing business to make America great again, such as in their hiring and educational practices, then not much will change.

By the way, we need to do some things in addition to clamping down on visa abuses (and H1B visas aren’t the extent of it, see, e.g. foreign students). No more dual citizenships. Legislation declaring these speech platforms to be common carriers that cannot discriminate based on lawful political ideology. Stop foreign investment, directly and indirectly in U.S. land. And more.

Three key allies — members of a group known as “the PayPal Mafia” for their involvement in the money-transfer company two decades ago — seem to be shaping policy and staffing decisions in Trump’s incoming administration, and they are part of an expansive right-wing tech network that will accompany Trump back into power.
The network is highly interconnected, sharing not only a political alliance but also social ties, investment opportunities, anti-regulatory ideas and geographic proximity in Austin, Texas, or Northern California. Some of their friendships and professional connections go back decades, and almost all the members of the network are men.The Trump transition team describes it as a natural fit.
“President Trump’s agenda includes economic, energy and regulatory policies that will allow the US to reclaim its global dominance of innovation and technology,” Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for the transition, said in a statement.
“President Trump is surrounding himself with industry leaders like Elon Musk as he works to restore innovation, reduce regulation, and celebrate free speech in his second term,” he said.

“This specific group is unique because it’s coming a lot from venture,” he said, referring to venture capitalists who invest in startups. “Venture is very different from Big Seven incumbent tech. The Big Seven incumbent tech, those people are trying to be very neutral.” The Magnificent 7 collection of tech companies includes Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Tesla.
Venture capitalists often are less interested in corporate initiatives such as diversity programs, he said. Instead, they have a reputation for ruthless competition, focusing in their most extreme moments on growth at all costs and upending the existing order.
“The contrarian culture of Silicon Valley and venture has pushed back against big corporate ideas coming out of the professional managerial class,” he said.
Trump’s second term won’t be the first administration to have strong influence from the modern tech industry. The Obama administration was closely tied to tech, especially to Google and its executives, such as former CEO Eric Schmidt.
But there’s little overlap between the tech figures who advised President Barack Obama and those working now for Trump. And there’s a different dynamic this time around, said Nathan Leamer, a Republican consultant in Washington and CEO of Fixed Gear Strategies.
“Obama was following Big Tech’s lead in 2008, and there was an excitement that the Obama administration’s approach to tech mirrored the blogosphere and early Twitter and how these companies saw themselves as fitting into the world,” he said.
“The difference now is that, with Trump, it’s following the Republican Party’s lead,” he said. “Tech is watching Republican leaders and realizing that they have to get in the game. Otherwise, they’re going to be left out.”
Previously Trump-skeptical tech companies such as Meta, Amazon and OpenAI are each giving at least $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund, donations that Trump can use for whatever purpose he wants.
Setting a tone near the top of the new administration will be Vance, who worked for one of Thiel’s venture capital funds, Mithril Capital, after law school and has benefited ever since from the association. Thiel was one of the main backers of Vance’s run for the Senate in Ohio in 2022.
“From the top, you see that connection with Silicon Valley,” Leamer said. (He noted that Trump himself now qualifies as a tech investor, with a majority stake in the parent company of Truth Social, Trump Media & Technology Group Corp.)

This “appreciation” of where we are as a People and a County goes through the JFK shock, the tumultuous LBJ and Vietnam War era. the Nixon-Watergate debacle and its aftermath, the Carter “malaise” (no, he was not a “good man”, IMO), the seeming never-ending Mid-East incursions beginning with the fall of The Shah, that all-too brief “respite” of the Reagan years, and IMO once again, those broken, defective, and unfit “administrations” of Bush the Elder, the Clintons, “W” the Younger, the Obamas, the unrealized hopes and promises of Trump #1, the destructive Clown-Car of Biden & Co. — i.e., those who brought into government a never-ending parade of Marxist-socialists on a wholesale scale whose main goal in life seems bent on destroying our Society … and now here we are, looking at another “hopeful promise” of Trump #2 …
Seems like the only “restful time” we had post-WW2 and Korea was during Eisenhower — and that was far from perfect … I appreciated that even when just a boy.
I’m not a quitter and I’m not giving up … but it does take a toll and some effort to keep my own personal “ship of state” on course and steaming safely ahead. Not intending to be “heavy” herein … it just feels better to get things off my chest on occasion …

Regarding Trump, it would be real interesting to see how much influence these groups have over him.
President Trump did not get where he is in business, politics, and life by being easily influenced. Also, Trump is a quick learner and quickly learns from mistakes (his own and others’).
He didn’t learn a thing from his bad staff picks.

If the purpose of this new wave of censorship is to isolate President Trump from the voices opposing H1B or voices critical of H1B then I suggest that you and prominent MAGA voices that President Trump would listen to try to reach the President directly on Truth Social where Musk has no control over the information flow.
Furthermore, you and the other people I mentioned should make President Trump aware of the extent of censorship on twitter.
