I think it was Hans Mahncke who said, of President Trump, “That’s his problem, he gives people chances”, and I tend to agree with that.
I see some truth in that. But over time as I’ve watched President Trump what I see him doing is acknowledging the reality of present time and acting accordingly. This interaction with Cruz is a good example. President Trump was acknowledging Cruz’s good work in the TX elections, not giving Cruz accolades for no reason. Cruz did a good job that helped MAGA so President Trump focused on that and not on the past.
Sometimes, in his quest to focus on reality, he must pick the best option, just as we all do. The best example is when he endorses rinos.
The Bondi appointment baffles me. Maybe he is giving her a second chance. Or maybe he just likes her. Or maybe he thinks she does well as an administrator and he expects others to do the heavy lifting.
My point is now I watch what our President does not based on feelings (giving second chances) but based on the realty of the moment (not the past) and how his action supports MAGA.

If I were keeping a scorecard, Trump would probably score as many “globalist plant” points as Cruz. If you’re looking to either as a paradigm of American constitutional governance, you’re going to be mislead or disappointed. But both have done good things, and treating Cruz as a mortal enemy is just silly. Look up voting records – like CR’s Liberty Score – and Ted Cruz is in the top five for the Senate (at 88%; the likes of Thune and Cornyn are barely over 50%). So maybe instead of wasting breath dragging up events two election cycles past, we should appreciate that two men who were at each other’s throats are willing to let it go and hopefully do some good work in the swamp.
