There are a lot of interesting discussions and interviews amid the political chatter today. It’s often difficult to filter which ones actually matter in the big picture. This is one of those interviews’ worth watching.
Incoming National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, brother-in-law to nominated U.S. Surgeon General Janette Nesheiwat and husband to former DNI policy chief Julia Nesheiwat, appears on Fox News to discuss his priorities for the national security system under President Donald Trump.
Within the interview Waltz makes sure the collective NATO “west” get the unity message about U.S-Ukraine policy: “Jake Sullivan and I have had discussions, we’ve met,” Waltz says in the interview. “For our adversaries out there that think this is a time of opportunity, that they can play one administration off the other — they are wrong. We are hand in glove. We are one team with the United States in this transition.” WATCH:
Mike Waltz is married to Julia Nesheiwat, the sister of Surgeon General nominee Janette Nesheiwat.
Julia, who -like all other people who work in DC silos- has never taken a married name. Julia Nesheiwat was born in Carmel, New York, in 1975 to Jordanian Christian immigrants and raised in Umatilla, Florida. She has a BA from Stetson University, an MA from Georgetown, and a PhD from Tokyo Tech.
Julia Nesheiwat became a military intelligence officer. She received the Bronze Star Medal during Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq. She departed the military as captain. Julia Nesheiwat served in several U.S. administrations. Under George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump, she held senior national security and economic policy positions. Her most notable role was as Trump’s 10th Homeland Security Advisor from 2020 to 2021. Her Bush administration posts included State Department seniority and Office of the Director of National Intelligence Policy Chief.
Suffice to say their bedroom conversations are likely Intel Community shop talk.
While it’s interesting that Congressman Mike Waltz was selected to be President Trump’s National Security Advisor, it’s actually Julia Nesheiwat that carries the curriculum vitae that seemingly qualifies her for the job. This will be an interesting dynamic to watch unfold.
There is no such thing as mis-dis-mal-information, there is only ‘information‘. However, the background information can often assist in giving context to the events that unfold in/around the DC silo system.

Tom Clancy was one of the best ever at coming up with scenarios that it would be prudent to plan and exercise for. He predicted 9-11 in “Debt of Honor”. Note: the one thing he predicted in that book that hasn’t happened yet, but surely will, is an adversary corrupting all the data in the U.S. financial system. That will dwarf the damage 9-11 did to us If Osama had directed the planes across the Hudson and hit the DTCC data center in New Jersey—they didn’t have geographic dispersal then—he would have crashed the whole financial system.

I sure hope this isn’t going to be Trump’s approach to negotiating peace with Russia, because it will absolutely fail. Walz clearly does not understand why this conflict is taking place and doesn’t understand anything about Russia. He sounds like just another idiotic clown stick Neocon, and if we’re not careful and lucky, neocons are going to get us all killed.

He can’t say anything else. It would be complete folly to say anything else. Like he says, it’s a message to adversaries out there – why would he say “hey, we don’t care, we’re going to upend everything in two months, so do whatever you want” – this would only serve to undermine the incoming administration and mire them in a cascade of crises from day one.
Regardless of your stance on the Ukraine conflict, he can’t say anything else in practical terms. He’s not in office yet.
Precisely. Even when in office there are things that are for political ears OUT-side the country and others that are meant for domestic consumption. Waltz’ book “Warrior Diplomat” is an interesting read that contrasts what he saw downrange with what he saw while in Pentagon halls.

Not addressing Waltz per se, but the incestuous nature of the silo, cum swamp, that DC is.
Most people just don’t realize how bad it really is.
Waltz, for instance, was born and raised in Florida and has represented an east coast district in central Florida since 2018. But he’s spent most of his adult life in the swamp of Washington DC in both private and govt roles. He’s married to a woman that has also spent most of her adult life there in both roles, as has her sister who is now a Trump nominee.
So, who in the heck does Waltz owe his loyalty to? The citizens of Florida who elected him or the denizens of the DC swamp that have, in one way or the other, paid him for decades now?
I first noted this type of DC silo incest back in the Clinton days when the marriage between Clinton’s chief political advisor and a major Republican political strategist became a national topic.
Then it became news again when Peter Strock of FBI/TDS infamy was married to an SEC Commissioner.
There are thousands of these types of political cum family and close friend relationships across DC.
It happens because DC is filled with political/government/lobbyist entities that create their very own Neverland of long-term, intertwined relationships that amount to political incest of the most egregious type. DC is their first world. Not necessarily America.
DC needs to be eviscerated not only of the swamp creatures that infest it, but of the thousands of political entities that are the heart of the infestation that sickens the entire nation.
Move every single political entity out of DC. Instead of building a new FBI HQ there, move the HQ to the huge new FBI campus in Huntsville, AL. Move the IRS to Boston, the CIA to Atlanta, the State Dept to Denver, the Pentagon to Dallas, the DoJ to Salt Lake, etc. etc. etc. Name your new city …anywhere at least two hundred miles from DC.
Leave the WH, the Congress, and SCOTUS in DC.
Take the lobbyists and the administrative state elsewhere, the further the better.

And … Term Limits needs to be on the “Civil Service”.
No more than say, 12 to 15 years.

I worked in local government for over 30 years where such nepotism was forbidden. They refused to even hire friends of current employees because they felt you were creating your own fiefdom.
