During an interview today, Mr Gaetz has big praise for Pam Bondi and says he will remain outside government trying to assist President Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda.
WASHINGTON — Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said Friday that he doesn’t plan to rejoin Congress after he withdrew his name from consideration to be President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general amid sexual misconduct allegations.
“I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” Gaetz said in an interview with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
“There are a number of fantastic Floridians who stepped up to run for my seat, people who have inspired with their heroism, with their public service. And I’m actually excited to see Northwest Florida go to new heights and have great representation,” he added.
Gaetz, who was first elected to Florida’s state House when he was 28 years old, noted he has been in elected office for 14 years,
“I’m 42 now, and I’ve got other goals in life that I’m eager to pursue — my wife and my family — and so I’m going to be fighting for President Trump,” he said. “I’m going to be doing whatever he asks of me, as I always have. But I think that eight years is probably enough time in the United States Congress.”
Gaetz said it seems like “a pretty poetic time to allow that great new blood to come in, to allow my district to have high-quality representation.”
He also alluded to playing a continued role in Trump’s plans, without getting into specifics.
“We need a leadership structure under President Trump that’s going to allow for durability of our movement and the ability to continue this great realignment of our politics, and so I’ll play a part in that,” he said. “I plan to be a big voice, but maybe not as an elected member of the government.” (read more)

I find it hard to believe that Matt Gaetz resigned from the House without a Plan B already in place – especially KNOWING he faced an up-hill battle for confirmation with McConnell’s decipticon crew.
I do, however, realize that we were all led to believe that he would be confirmed one way or the other – or- be appointed during recess or an alternate method. It is possible that Matt believed that too- enough to put it all on the line.

Special counsel needs to be confirmed by the Senate, per Judge Aileen Cannon, U.S. District Court judge in the Trump Florida documents case. So, to be special counsel, Gaetz would need Senate confirmation.

I keep going back to the boy that he gave a home to, took care of, and then after the story broke he suddenly got married. It was kinda awkward and the story was quickly dissolved. Whatever is going on, or not going on, something isn’t quite right. I enjoyed the heads popping at the mere thought of him being AG, and I wish him well in whatever his new endeavor might be. Paul Craig Roberts wrote a few days ago that he was concerned that Gaetz was being put up for AG in order to get him out of Congress. Speculating then he won’t be confirmed and out of his seat. Deep State gets a double win.

To me reforming the DOJ was his most important responsibility.
I’m not sure where this leaves us, it’s not a good look for Gaetz… maybe he did what was alleged.
I was disappointed to see him with drawl from his nomination.
The Ethics Committee’s revival of the junk allegations against Gaetz, was disgusting.
They revived this crap, even after the Biden DOJ exonerated Gaetz of criminal wrongdoing
and dropped the charges in February 2023.
There is a ‘theory’ that Trump is (as usual??) getting some bad advice. The theory indicates that Trump should NOT have announced his cabinet picks so early, but waited until the end of December, so that there wasn’t as much time for all the negative press, and the new Congress would have approved more of them. The thought is that now Hegseth will be targeted and dropped as well, then on to Gabbard and RFK.
Have Bondi name him as Special Prosecutor and direct him to investigate and prosecute every DoJ employee, FBI lackey, the Biden family, Obama, Clinton, and any other venal politician who defrauded the United States taxpayers or committed crimes against them.
The Senate would not under any circumstances allow Matt Gaetz to be seated even if DeSantis were to appoint him, which he would not because he is angry with the Trump team over the fact that Trump’s lieutenants (Vance and Rubio) inexplicably teamed up with Cruz to allow the lame duck, already repudiated by the voters, congress to turn the deep red 11th circuit judiciary deep blue unchallenged.
How could the Senate disallow Matt Gaetz being seated if appointed by DeSantis?
DeSantis appoints Gaetz to Rubio’s Senate seat.
Then in 2026, Gaetz runs for Governor and DeSantis runs for Senate.
The Senate votes on who to seat.
I wonder if he was blackmailed with doj saying they will not prosecute in return for his leaving politics and endorsing Bondi. A fast and big turnaround.

Gateway Pundit reports on 11.23 that a 2016 video has surfaced showing Bondi endorsing Jeb Bush over Trump. The President-elect and Don Jr. then rushed to her defense, but I’m thinking Paxton ought to be reconsidered for the AG post or even Todd Blanche.
We all recall Jeb Bush’ 2016 comment about illegal border crossings being “an act of love” so I’m wondering how an AG who truly believes in border security could have in good conscience endorsed Jeb.
One last thought on this: Kevin McCarthy, who undoubtedly still has a lot of friends on the hill, must’ve worked behind the scenes to help scuttle the nomination. It is his last laugh from beyond the (political) grave.
Matt Gaetz – Special Counsel?
Just throwing this out there. After hints from Gaetz about his involvement from a different perch and his knowledge of insider trading. Could it be possible that he will be Special Counsel to investigate so many areas of corruption. No confirmation needed. Guess we will have to wait and see what secret is up President Trumps sleeve.
There is something really grubby and low rent about Matt’s SAME DAY jump over to Cameo.
He must be financially in over his head, it makes me suspect he would have been corrupitble as AG.
People point to his dad being worth a half billion, but it doesn’t really work like that. That’s his dad’s money, not Matt’s.
We might have dodged a huge bullet with this one, and it’s GAETZ’S OWN FAULT for accepting the nomination and not warning President Trump ahead of time. He caused Trump AND MAGA as a whole great embarrassment.
This was an unnecessary and completely preventable own goal.
