During an interview today, Mr Gaetz has big praise for Pam Bondi and says he will remain outside government trying to assist President Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda.
WASHINGTON — Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said Friday that he doesn’t plan to rejoin Congress after he withdrew his name from consideration to be President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general amid sexual misconduct allegations.
“I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” Gaetz said in an interview with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
“There are a number of fantastic Floridians who stepped up to run for my seat, people who have inspired with their heroism, with their public service. And I’m actually excited to see Northwest Florida go to new heights and have great representation,” he added.
Gaetz, who was first elected to Florida’s state House when he was 28 years old, noted he has been in elected office for 14 years,
“I’m 42 now, and I’ve got other goals in life that I’m eager to pursue — my wife and my family — and so I’m going to be fighting for President Trump,” he said. “I’m going to be doing whatever he asks of me, as I always have. But I think that eight years is probably enough time in the United States Congress.”
Gaetz said it seems like “a pretty poetic time to allow that great new blood to come in, to allow my district to have high-quality representation.”
He also alluded to playing a continued role in Trump’s plans, without getting into specifics.
“We need a leadership structure under President Trump that’s going to allow for durability of our movement and the ability to continue this great realignment of our politics, and so I’ll play a part in that,” he said. “I plan to be a big voice, but maybe not as an elected member of the government.” (read more)

Term limits and single-subject bills: two things he fervently supports. Probably the only one in Congress to do so. He could’ve gone back to his seat, but he practices what preaches. Very admirable. He would’ve been a consequential AG. Our loss.

The insider trading by everyone in Congress has been well known for years. Peter Schiff has written at least 2 books on the subject.

There are many competent individuals and Pam Bondi seems to have the full support of Matt Gaetz. I’m not going to criticize these choices and take the wait a see position.
Its really too bad he got caught up in paying for it when it was highly likely women would have lined up to give it out for free. I’m no fan of Pam Bondi, but I was just now listening to ‘War Room‘ and Steve Bannon claimed today that Bondi, leading up to the election, said, We’ve got to go after the prosecutors who went after Trump and that would be, McCabe, Comey, Weissmann, Jack Smith, Lisa Monaco and Merrick Garland. She said it, he added, but was unable to show us the tape.
I did not use quotation marks because Bannon was, for technical reasons, unable to show the tape where Bondi was supposed to say those things and, to my frustration, he didn’t make it clear that the specific names he mentioned, (McCabe, Comey, etc), were his words or hers.
The old adage, ‘hope for the best but prepare for the worst,’ applies here, but Bannon had ample opportunity to say something negative about Bondi and he didn’t do it.

Should a ‘reporter’ ask about something which he knows his former colleagues in Congress should answer for, he can cajole them by reciting his personal experience for the record, and charmingly ask the questioner, “Isn’t it your journalistic duty to do your due diligence in performing investigative work in order to accurately report?”

Gaetz was in the Judiciary Committee for several years so maybe he can become the Inspector General of the Federal Courts and investigate all federal judges for crimes that can lead to potential impeachment by Congress.

If I recall correctly, in 2016, Senator Marco Rubio made similar statements regarding a senate run after suspending his campaign for the presidential nomination in mid March and then three months later, a few days after the Orlando night club shooting decided to run for re-election. .
The special election to fill Gaetz seat is not till April 1, that will leave the GOP with a razor thin margin in the House for over 2/3 of President Trump’s first 100 days.
