This is perhaps one of the most predictable nominations, although everyone was wondering if it would be agency specific or just the entire apparatus of USA health. It’s the whole enchilada!
President Trump has announced his nomination of Robert F Kennedy Jr to become the next Secretary of Health and Human Services.

In this position RFK Jr has promised to change the construct of FDA, NIH, USDA and all the subsidiary agencies to remove the corporate influence that has corrupted them. The goal is to change the food system by removing harmful additives, challenge the influence of the multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical lobbying industry, and restore the function of public health.
It is a massive task, but one that RFK Jr says he has been developing and planning for many years. This is in his wheelhouse and Making America Healthy Again would be an incredible legacy initiative for both President Trump and Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
They will both be targeted by the multinational corporations and lobbyists, but they will be bolstered by the overwhelming support of the American people. I am looking forward to this initiative as it develops and rolls out.

Start with the f’ing “vegetable oils” that turn to PLASTIC (think linseed oil to linoleum) and accumulating inside the body. Anyone who has deep fried with these oils in their kitchens will soon find a residue on everything that is highly resistant to being cleaned with simple cleaners. Stop using these processed oils and switch to lard or “pressed oils” only.
Side note—ever read the ingredients label on the grocery store ‘prepackaged’ salads etc…supposedly healthy?
Any food with a nutrition label is lacking in nutrition.
Canned vegetables are the worst. But yes, you are on to something…especially when those ingredients are 7-8 syllables long and interspersed with numbers.

There’s nothing like a bowl of bacon grease for frying up eggs. I’d challenge anyone to eat fried eggs done with bacon grease for a week, and not lose 3 to 4 pound doing it.
I grew up keeping bacon grease. My wife thought it was dirty or terrible in some way…. we’ve come a long way since that but haven’t yet returned to bacon… sausage is more convenient though not at all useful for other purposes.

McD’s used to use beef tallow to make fries. That is why the fries were so good! If you go to a butcher you can buy the fat that is cut off of meat. Just put it in a pot and on very low heat liquify it, then strain through cheesecloth. I keep a small jar by the stove and use it for anything I fry. Keep th replacement jar in the fridge. Will last 6 weeks or so. It will become solid (like lard), after it cools. Just use a spoon to put in skillets or pots to melt. Yum yum.
I always trim my own meat and toss it to the pooch. But if I kept it and melted it down would that work or no?

I’ve eliminated all the seed oils. Never knew about the problems with canola – all through the 80s and 90s I cooked with it thinking it was healthy. Sigh.
Olive oil is a fruit oil. The fruit is pressed to make oil. Seed oils are from the extraction of crushed seeds.
Tallow is good as well.
Olive oil – I just used a bottle imported from Italy, and got another. It was better than any I’d had.
I have one of those hand-pump sprayers that you can use your chosen oil in, and I spray the food before cooking instead of pouring or dribbling it on.
There are a lot of calories in the dribbles, not good for a small person like me, and the spray is plenty to add flavor.
Air fryer is the way to go. I hardly use any oil but olive oil spray for stir frys.
The original McDonalds fry’s were cooked in beef tallow – and they were delicious.

I don’t think I have developed allergies from out of the blue but simplifying my diet is definitely helping. My experience with the working in the ‘hood…they do the least for the most and stick to the government schedules to not miss out the government dollars. And people don’t get better, they just ‘improve’ and return again to the ER. That angle will have to be addressed as they overlap in the inner city hospitals.

I’m pretty sure that a large part of the reason behind pharma companies’ deluge of ads is to control the media. Those ads are a significant percentage of media ad revenue. Media stifled news stories about COVID and the “vaccines” because they couldn’t afford to disrupt their revenue by angering Big Pharma.

Lots of the ads just say “Ask your doctor about (fill in the blank) today!” and don’t even say what the drug is for.
These commercials are a means of buying the networks’ silence about the dangers of these drugs.

While I may not agree with Bobby Kennedy on certain social issues, I absolutely believe that he is the right person at the right time for this position! I am loving the last two days of roll-outs.
We’re all speculating about the strategy for getting these picks in — or wondering if the team privately expects to lose some with a plan around that.
But I gotta say — he’s going SO BIG with Kennedy, Gaetz, Gabbard– I think when he goes this big, right after the election, the strategy is to leverage his landslide and WIN. Because the loss on one of these principled misfits would itself stall momentum, and our President is governing like knows that with 4 years, time is short. He’s bursting from the gate, and why burn through superstars with a “great if I can get em” attitude. No I think they’ve gamed this out. I think there’s a plan to win.
One caveat/nuance on that — Hegseth is different. What Gaetz, Gabbard, and Kennedy all have in common is they rallied to Trump over a shared passion for the country — but also laser focused on the issue at the heart of the departments they’ve now been tapped to run. That’s so much of why it is so satisfying. These pics stuck there necks out for Trump, animated by the issues they’re now selected to be in charge of. Love to see it.
Hegseth I’m sure is right for his job too, but this pick doesn’t have the same sense of political “skin in the game” and vindication, which is nothing against him, just a political reality. For that reason alone, if one has to be sacrificed, that’s my vote.

Fwiw, my own peeve is the industrial slaughter industry in America; not an enviro zealot, but I’d like to see some changes in regulations regarding how slaughter animals are confined/treated, to create more humane and sanitary living conditions for them, and also examine the hormones they’re given. There’s a book that gives a good hard, and disturbing view of this industry, and that supposedly opened the eyes of the Israeli president, B.Netanyahu. Can’t remember the name of it off-hand.

Doctors are good for acute care but for chronic issues that’s where the problem is in the US.

Medical schools need to be encouraged to offer mandatory courses on achieving and maintaining health.
First they have to re-embrace & reconfirm their oath to do no harm.

Regarding USA food….
Someone on this site mentioned the Yuka App. I downloaded it and have used it out of curiosity and made some food purchase cecisions based on it.
I have used it in American stores and on similar food products in Canadian food stores. I have the Canadian products score somewhat higher than their American counterparts.
Is this an indictment that US regulations are more lax than Canadians?

From my research, the USA regulations are more lax than any other country on this earth.
I spend so much time reading product ingredients, that it takes me at least 3-4 hours to shop for just the two of us.
We do not eat out. We do not eat processed food. I cook from scratch; make all my breads but I have to research ingredients.
Stay away from seed oil; go with pork lard, beef tallow, olive oil, etc.
It’s really disgusting because even the fresh produce is NOT Fresh Produce!
I learned of it ( YUKA? ) here also, and downloaded the Yuka app. It’s quite impressive. I have yet to use it with any regularity as there are so few packaged foods I “experiment” with. But I’ve tried it at super stores and it works great.
