Trump’s plan to re-paint Air Force One is one of the things with which he and I totally disagree.
The (Jackie Kennedy-commissioned, Raymond Loewy-designed) robin’s-egg blue, white and silver design is the most beautiful livery ever borne by the “Queen of the Skies” Boeing 747 and, before that, the 707.
It has represented American strength, exceptionalism and grace for 60 years. Viewing the 707 at the Reagan Library is breathtaking. I feel that Trump’s design, while patriotic, is just too commercial, inferior and pedestrian, and I really, really wish he would relent, and follow historical continuity with the gorgeous, instantly recognizable current livery.

However, I fully expect PDJT to pardon all non-violent J6ers and commute the sentences of any convicted of violent charges, with the understanding that if, after review, it is determined the charges involving violence are bogus, they to can be pardoned.

Many years ago, 75% of staff at my then-employer quit within two weeks of each other. They were not immediately replaced, so the remaining 25% of us had to pick up the slack while HR scrambled to hire replacements, not to mention then training them. Because of my husband’s medical issues, I was not in a position to just walk out. I needed that insurance coverage. This was before pre-existing conditions were covered by any new insurance.
Eventually new staffing got sorted out, but not before taking a toll on those employees who stayed. I worked for a law firm, so it was critical to meet Court deadlines and avoid the “M” word (malpractice) at all costs.
When you toss out that 80% figure, somewhat cavalierly, you fail to take into account the individuals comprising that percentage. Are they ALL incompetent lackeys and grifters, or gee, is it not possible their continued employment would prove to be an asset to the President’s new administration?
Firing 80% of an agency at one time would create mayhem. I hope Elon Musk and Ron Paul show better judgment.
Here’s the thing. Did it suck to be one of the 25% left behind. Yes I’m sure it did. But I’ll bet that the 25% of you doing the work were doing the most important things and the less important things simply didn’t get done. If this condition had continued long enough, eventually your company would have had to narrow their scope to the things the remaining staff *could* get done. Hard questions would have had to been asked about what was the core function of the office and what would just have to be let go of.

Another long-lasting positive effect of Trump and a GOP Senate majority: A US District Judge nominated by Trump and confirmed by the GOP-controlled Senate in September 2020 just overturned Illinois’ “assault weapons” ban. The ruling will of course be appealed by the Chicago-Democrat Illinois AG Kwame Raoul, but I think there’s a good chance that the ban will be permanently killed. Doubtful the judge would have been confirmed by a Dem-controlled Senate. I am SO happy the GOP has the Senate majority again. I don’t know if you have watched any of the confirmation hearings during the past 4 years but the judges the Dem-majority Senate have confirmed are absolute freaks.

The pile-on against Trump was pretty much impressive at that time. Erick Erickson was conducting a confab right then, I think and it was during an interview that Candidate Trump made his “heroes” comment.
Frank Luntz did a town hall style gathering of reactions and based on his research, it looked like the campaign by Trump would be over; Trump needed to apologize and slurk off into oblivion if he wanted to be able to live on the fringes of polite society.
John Dingell – John Dingell, though a Democrat, he was a fellow veteran or his father or someone was, was enraged at Trump’s words about a true hero, John McCain. It did not matter that Senator McCain had insulted an entire swath of his own constituents. For all the vaunted concerns about fellow veterans, the VA’s in Phoenix and Detroit were at the bottom of a survey for their care of veterans. It also did not matter to Dingell that if McCain had followed the flight rules, he would not have been in the altitude where his plane could be brought down and that was how he became captured.
To me, it was most impressive and wonderful how Trump just sallied forth into the fray, even with all of their mean words! When he got on the stage for the first debate in Cleveland on August 6, 2015 and did not take “the pledge” that was totally awesome and memorable.
