Senator John Thune has been groomed by Mitch McConnell to be his replacement for decades. Thune’s ascension to the role of Senate Majority Leader is essentially a foregone conclusion.
Senator Thune will carry the full support of roughly 15-to-20 senate DeceptiCons (deceptive conservatives), and perhaps a dozen more squishy ones in the middle who want great committee positions. The important dynamic that comes into play now is Senate Committee Chairman “leverage” for Donald Trump’s nominees.
Earlier today on CNBC Senator John Thune discussed the upcoming secret ballot election for Senate Majority Leader. WATCH (prompted):

Essentially, this is Thune’s gentle first shot requesting President Trump “stay out of” the senate caucus decision. Likely, what matters most to President Trump is getting his nominees past the Republican majority confirmation process. Thune was in previous talks with President Trump several months ago, and again several weeks ago in Mar-a-Lago.
Senator Thune doesn’t want President Trump to put his finger on the scale. If matters of the Senate are left alone, Thune ascends – period. However, Thune isn’t stupid and would like Trump to support him. Essentially, Thune would welcome intervention so long as the intervention came with an endorsement.
Thune wants to be Senate Majority Leader. President Trump wants all of his ‘advise and consent’ nominees to glide through confirmation.
We should look for President Trump to endorse Thune; generally, that would indicate terms have been agreed and we can be optimistic. However, if we do not see an endorsement from President Trump, or if Trump endorses someone else, then we should watch out for full DeceptiCon opposition in the Senate from here on out.
A lot of the dynamic exists without any outside influence. The two positioned candidates are John Thune (SD) and John Cornyn (TX). Thune is heavily favored and likely has an easy inside track. The number of MAGA senators is around ten, not really enough to block any organized leadership challenge.
Our MAGA movement benefits from appointments gaining confirmation. President Trump well understands the negotiations and maneuvering that will be needed to get the right committee chairs and members in place.
Sen Thune can request all he wants! Everyone who Considers themselves part of the MAGA movement should send a note to their individual Senators letting them know that Thune, Cornyn (sp) and the rest of the McConnell acolytes are not acceptable. They need someone else.

Back stabbing, establishment RINOs like Thune and Cornyn have been “left alone” for too many years. Trump needs to put more than a finger on the scale, he needs to jump on it with both feet. No more McConnell’s and Ryan’s.

Go back and listen around 6:42 – when the man asks Thune if President Trump has any say in the choosing, and Thune betrays his attitude toward President Trump by his inability to supress a snort. Watch, quiet as it is his whole body twitches.
But I agree that President Trump needs to get his people confirmed and President Trump can be the good cop and we can be the bad cop. We have the stick now.
And we need to use it to get an Amendment to the Constitution which provided Nation-wide rules, that are simple but devistatingly effective, for conducting elections in which any candidate is running for national office.

If Thune won’t play along then Trump should propose a change to how things used to be. Senators get elected by state legislators instead of by the electorate. That might change the Senate’s tune. It would also place much more power in the state’s hands and get it out of the Feds hands.
Repeal the 17th amendment, exactly. Nothing has been right since this abomination was enacted.

Hawley backs Cornyn. This speaks volumes. So, no. We don’t want Hawley. He talks a good talk, but I don’t trust him. He’s done a few things that made me question his commitment to we, the people.
Groomed by Mitch McConnell . . . if John Thune has harsh words for anyone, they should be directed at Mitch McConnell for stringing him along, not stepping down long ago.
This was no small victory. It is no small mandate. This was political annihilation. It was a seismic shift- a political re-alignment not seen since Richard Nixon. Only, now we know the dirty tricks they played on Nixon- because they emptied their whole bag to include assassination. Thune has skeletons in his closet that if exposed would destroy his chances as Senate Leader, think Trent Lott!!! The Trump 47 team is essentially the ones with LEVERAGE HERE BECAUSE THEY CAN ACTIVATE HIS POLITICAL ASSASSINATION (Not physical assassination) at any point and time they choose!
