President Trump has proposed that homes in critical areas be granted tax credits for the installation of emergency generators. It is a smart plan given the nature of crisis events that have unfolded in recent years.
.
Factually, it would not be difficult to repurpose much of the “Green New Deal” spending legislation to permit such a credit. There are millions of Americans who could benefit. Sounds good in both principle and practice.
Made in America generators! Watch how fast the private sector industries would start scrambling to make USA built generators.

This is what I love about PDJT, among other things. He’s a pragmatic thinker. He is willing to make the suggestions and moves that so many of us yell at the tv screen when some dumb RINO talks about having to add tons of pork to some already watered down bill in which somewhere in there it says you get $8 for buying a generator for your house.
Then the rest of the bill is money to our enemies and to do a study on how long the dung beetle takes to build a golf ball size of poop. MAN it is so frustrating how our govt had been hi jacked to the point we would except things like that…
The true constituents of Congress are not the voters, but the corporations who finance them.
This is true. They no longer work for us at all.
they have not worked for us since FDR in 1933! When do you think congress delegated to its self the right to delegate to “agencies?”. Strictly un constitutional! Congress GAVE fdr the right to declare “national emergencies “. and the 73rd congress said they could not get it back save a sitting president agreed to give it back. I hope Trump gives it back at the end of his term!
Not since Wilson, at least.
It’s a great proposal. It’s like 2nd amendment. Right to be prepared
Bravo, well said! A perfect picture of our diseased gubmint!
This should be for everyone in every state.
Agreed
My husband and I just purchased a whole house Kohler generator. We live in Wisconsin, so I don’t consider this fair as we do get tornados here.
Good move. Generac has been having issues.
What issues Jim? Production or function? Currently have a Generac and no issues, so far.
Same here, but they weren’t happy when I said I want none of their monitoring silliness.
Please define monitoring silliness. I am always suspicious of a desire to monitor us!
They will track the system and send info back to their central data warehouse. I opted out of that. I have the system self test, but I get the info only.
I printed a lot of this Thread today, keeping everyone’s advice. Thanks for your input.
We have Generac for whole house, works like a charm and we too turned down the monitoring.
Apps are glitchy and I believe they want to monitor and also upsell you.
FYI, I worked with an electrical contractor in N. Calif. last year on a commercial generator project . They had installed quite a few of the Generac home systems. He was not impressed with their support after having dealt with system issues on several installs. He did not recommend their systems on that issue alone. Just an FYI. LOL, and I had bought their stock which went down that next year. But heh they did great commercials.
Great commercials?
The best one I heard was on Bongino’s radio show yesterday, Friday. He called Generac out by name. Bongino went on for a couple minutes about the ungodly amount of money he paid for basically a worthless pile of junk that never worked right from day one and how he couldn’t do his radio show because of Generac’s dismal and complete failure. Bongino was merciless, I’d never heard anything quite like it.
Yeah, ole Danny-boy macerated Generac and spit them out. It was brutal.
There are many Generac systems sold and installed per year, probably more than any other company brand.
I have heard about 50/50 (like/dislike). The dislike is mainly that when you absolutely need the assurance of power, the Generac’s may or may not fire up for you or may not operate properly or dependably under load.
This could certainly happen with any company’s product.
I finally opted for a 4250 watt dual fuel invertor generator from Champion. Yes, it is made in China, however, it has worked very well.
In 2020 I ordered a large Honda unit. It was on backorder for about a year before I finally cancelled the order.
The Champion is much less costly. And even though it is made in China, it was available and has worked. I bought a smaller one as backup.
It runs two fridges and two freezers. When the appliances are stable (cool & cold), I can use some hot plates and coffee maker.
Everyone should own a grill. Whether it’s propane, charcoal or wood fueled, you can operate one even in inclement weather. Just use your noggin to protect the fire.
I see no need to run the AC, unless you are in a blazing hot or hot and humid locale. We’re in the Ozarks. If it’s hot, we stay in the walk-out basement that maintains a temp of about 68 to 70 degrees in the peak of summer heat. In fact, I turn off all the vents and keep the door shut to the stairwell.
We are in the Ozarks, so wood heat supplements our HVAC system, or it can completely heat the living areas (bedrooms remaining cold).
So if President Trump can push through a direct tax deduction for generators (whether whole-house or portable), I think it is and admirable action on his part.
How about abolish the IRS and we don’t have to deal with deductions at all.
We’ve had one for 10 years and it has saved us every time 🤷♂️
My brother has had one for over 6 years
in Florida.
It is family joke that before he got
it, electricity was going out all the time.
And since he bought his— not once has
the electricity in his neighborhood gone
out.😊😊
We all think it is great though. When storm
is predicted, other family members and friends
go to his house to ride out the storm.
They have a big get together with lots of food…
and adult beverages.😉😉
Peace of mind.
It was made ten years ago. Think about it.
I had a Generac Whole House back up generator connected to my off grid Solar System. It was supposed to come on when the batteries didn’t get fully charged during the day.
Had nothing but problems with it and finally got rid of it after having it looked at several times.
Sounds like the “installer” messed up.
It did work as it should have for over a year, then it started having problems.
We installed a generator last summer and it sure came in handy with the power outage this summer here in Ohio. We had no power for 5 days and everything but the air conditioner was great. We purchased this after reading so many people talking about prepping, I still believe our electrical grid is going to be targeted in the future. I don’t understand how all those Chinese military age illegals can come into this country and no one is sounding the alarm.
Wrong. He pointed out the problems in these states but he did not restrict the benefit to just these states.
He just used them as an example of why people should purchase home generators.
I hope you are right!
I’m waiting for him to declare that he will not sign ANY BILLS that come to him that are huge, multiple-subject bills. ONE SUBJECT ONLY, with the exception of an annual, properly appropriated official budget. It will drive them crazy!
He did say ‘and other states’.
Northern IL here…if we can get Trump to view “8 Minutes in August”…tornado alley might get more in terms of relief aspects.
President Trump’s proposal is nationwide for deduction of the cost of a generator.
The reason for the policy is due to the obvious recent destruction in the states named, not as an exclusion for any other state.
Agree! As more and more “green” energy production is forced on us, the grid becomes less reliable.
PG & E used to be a great company in CA. My husband worked for them for many years … Great reliability, maintenance, wages, stock value.
Now it’s in shambles, trying to please the insatiable leftists. Constant outages, obsolete equipment, unexpected outages, poor repairs. Ruined.
That is correct. DTE here in SE Michigan doesn’t seem to care much about the grid anymore.
I’m in SE WI & I purchased a portable generator I keep in the detached garage. I had my panel wired to the garaged so I can just plug it in when needed. About 1/2 the cost of a standby that I frankly couldn’t afford.
Neither of us are getting a tax credit but we did what was necessary to stay alive should disaster strike.
cue the bee-gees hit “staying alive…”
Did you get a transfer switch installed? A manual one is less expensive than an automatic one, but you must remember to manually activate the switch, so it transfers the source of your house power from the pole to the genny.
If you don’t cut the power from the pole & switch it to the genny, the backfeed of power from the genny can electrocute a utility lineman on the pole who is trying to restore utility power.
when did you buy it?says he would make it retroactive from sept 1 2024
I paid off my college loan. Now the Biden Team is trying to buy young college grad voters with a “the gummint will pay off your loan. Keep flipping those burghers at McD”
I don;t consider this fair.
Thing of it is, it is MY and YOUR tax dollars going to this ridiculous illegal gesture.
Every budgetary legislative action takes our collective tax dollars and doles them out to someone (usually someone else.)
I always wondered why the federal gummint takes our taxes from us in whatever states we live in, then grifts a nice slice of them to pay the bureaucrats who “manage this process” and THEN send some portion back to the state.
Why not just keep the taxes in the state and lay off those grifting federal workers ?
Let THEM flip burgers. Says I.
Not disagreeing with anything you said there, but I recently discovered college loans are not what they used to be. Would you believe, the government has taken over that industry too, and made it FAR more predatory. (Yes, of course, we would all believe that now.)
The solution is not for the government that caused the problem to “forgive” the loan, because some way or other you know there will be even more strings attached. But we all need to realize the government has actually trapped a lot of students into debts they can never pay off, for an educational experience that keeps losing value, and we do need to figure out what is the best way to help these former students.
I agree! I paid off my student loans too and this REALLY angers me (as I refrain here from more colorful language)!!! Those of us who paid off our student loans now get to pay off some strangers student loans???!!! I say retroactive this nonsense for all or better, what part of LOAN did these freeloaders not understand???!!! More of teaching the younger generation to NOT take responsibility for their own actions, one of a long list of problems with the LEFT, I need not elaborate on in a CTH Thread!
Because these kids are so dumb that they think the outstanding balance on the loan goes “poof” and disappears, when the payback is actually transferred to, and borne by US, THE TAXPAYERS.
But even if they knew, they’d STILL stick us w/the bill.
It does say…..”and other States “
🤷♀️ 💁 🤷♀️
The States mentioned were simply examples.
We are One Nation Under God, indivisible…
Speaking of indivisible, just who, pray tell, is causing divisions among us ?
Trust God. Fear not.
Same here in MI. Due to the unreliable grid.
Exactly! I have friends in Connecticut that spent $20,000 after Irene and several blizzards for a backup generator and underground propane tank. They were losing power for weeks at a time. The tax credit should be nation wide!
PT’s announcement did say “other states.” Am thinking the credit will in fact apply to “all” states if only because PT wants to benefit all Americans, and his administration won’t have time to deal with discrimination suits:)
That said, I own a manufactured home, which is officially considered a trailer rather than a house. The fine print on any deduction may prove disappointing for many of us. And that said, let’s see PT back into office first:)
Makes no difference. You pay property tax
Actually, mobile homes are classified as “vehicles” in many states, so pay annual registration renewal taxes.
Unless mounted.. mounted to concrete pad in many states. And some require other cert you intend to keep it there, wheels and other move ability disabled.
Yes, I do. Thank you for that.
I just emailed him…
Thank you! I will too –
If it is a deduction on Federal Income tax I am pretty sure every state would have to receive it.
The logical assumption. PDJT is way too smart to exclude any state for gosh sakes.
Great moniker!
Glad to hear that, and yes he is!
Let’s suppose the Blob is actually mucking with the hurricanes and other weather. I’m keeping a “weather eye” (pun intended) on that possibility, but have not yet seen quite enough spread of the information to make sure it gets to PDJT’s attention, and it would have to, for him to dig out the responsible perps from the Blob’s murk.
In that case I would definitely consider a generator once I saved enough for the initial purchase and the work of reshaping yard space to fit it.
I live in New England, so monster hurricanes are rare (so far). But there’s also snow – ten years ago we lost power for 9 days during an early Halloween snow&ice storm. Turned out Nat Grid had not kept up with tree trimming. They made up for it by the next year – no multi-day outages since.
A tax credit, not a deduction. Big difference. The full price (presumably) would come off the bottom line of what you owed the IRS, versus just deducting the cost. 100% versus a much smaller percentage based on your tax bracket.
No tax expert here, but isn’t there a way to deduct it over a couple year span?
SO taxpayers finally get a benefit ? In total, about 59.9 percent of U.S. households paid income tax in 2022. The remaining 40.1 percent of households paid no individual income tax. I imagine that 40% will raise a ruckus.
Make it “refundable”, like all those child tax credits, EITC (a huge scam), etc, designed to be giveaways to “the poor”, on our dime.
PT can shore up more votes if he announced support for investigation into why more trailer parks proportionally are hit by tornadoes than other areas…likely a Big Trailer/Government conspiracy is behind this mystery.
up here in iowa we call trailer parks tornado magnets.
Funny.
But these days conspiracy theories tend to have the shelf life of bananas – they either get consumed (become clear fact very quickly) or rot on the kitchen table, usually right into some important papers…
And he’d have a HUGE # of 14th “Equal Protection” lawsuits on his hands as well.
Yes, I agree…but one step at a time…
Made in America generators sold by American small businesses.
He is gonna be fighting the limo libs for a while…
Right! Yes, we’ve been known to get hurricanes here in Taxachusetts—and lots of rain or snow Nor’easters, that wipe out power lines for as long as a week. Please, no discrimination against ‘blue’ states!
He would never discriminate.
Yes! Someday we’re going to need them in California when some day “The Big One’ does finally hit and it’s our turn to deal with a natural disaster.
100% Hitlery!! I’m in So Cal and The Big One is the very thing I am trying to prepare for.
Everyone should look at their environment and determine what natural disaster is most likely to render them vulnerable and plan accordingly.
For me, the sun is still the best backup source of energy in the event of a catastrophic earthquake.
Unless one lives in Washington state:) All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury pretty much sums up how we feel a lot of the time!
You have a far bigger threat from brown outs or grid disruptions than from natural distress. But agree with you!!
There’s always an EMP wave.
In that case the vulnerable part of a whole house generator would be its connection natural gas through a pipeline to a provider – correct?
Ain’t it always somethin.
The good news is that if PDJT can assume office – he, and the people he will deploy this time, will put EMP on the list of national emergency concerns.
That means the real list (not the one that has only climate change and Ukraine as items).
Disaster prep tip: make friends (or family!) with electricians, especially linemen.
I once hired an electrician because I saw a Trump bumper sticker on his truck, and he did a good job.
But he’s gone now – can’t blame him for fleeing this blue state.
People should get propane versions and have their own tank vs. natural gas lines that may not work if pumps/pressure stop working in a disaster.
And easier to store 500 gallons of propane than 500 gallons of gasoline for liquid fuel versions which are also susceptible to clogged carburetors. No carb on a propane version.
We actually need them here in Norcal during big storms, fires and Newsom’s rolling blackouts. Our power system can’t seem to withstand a heavy wind, heavy rain storm. It can take days for PG&E to get power back when trees take down power lines.
I replied to Two Laine up top and I should have read first!
Many fellow Californians weighing in today!
I live in SoCal and we have brown outs, but my brother and his wife live in NoCal and the grid shut downs up there have been almost criminal in my mind. No notice, so no time to prepare.
I did the same thing about New England.
Gonna try now to scroll first and type later. It’s difficult ha ha!
😁🕊️
“Gonna try now to scroll first and type later. It’s difficult ha ha!”
Good luck! I’ve given up “scrolling first” 🙂
Ya’ll already need them for when whole counties are having their power turned off when it’s hot, rolling blackouts throughout the state, etc, etc. Seems anything and everything knocks out the power grids–too hot, cold, rainy, snowy.
We left just in the knick of time.
Agreed.
In CA, the utility companies began to cut power apparently to prevent forest fires. They cut power to northern CA cities which included nursing homes, restaurants, hotels, et al, with absolutely no notice and kept the power off for days.
So maybe blue states with inept governors (no – we don’t keep voting for them, they harvest ballots) should have the same tax credit.
It does say……”and other States “
🤷♀️ 💁
Many of the homes on our road have larger fixed-installation backup generators, many 100A or more single phase. Most are NG fueled, which poses its own risks if the gas grid collapses. LP would probably be a more disaster-proof solution. But virtually all of them are already US made.
I think the majority of smaller portable types are overseas built, however. And most of those run on gasoline.
I’d rather see tax deductions on hurricane readying home improvements and on flood insurance premiums. In a severe weather situation with high water levels, all those big freestanding backup gensets get flooded out, and require extensive service to get running again.
On the flood insurance note.
Received a nice letter from Citizens Ins here in FL that flood insurance is now required even thou not in a flood zone.
Where we’re at it could rain for 40 days and 40 nights the sewer could back up and still not flood.
They do not want people in single family dwellings, i.e., suburbs. This is the war on suburbs and single passenger cars. They want to tax us, fee us, fuel us, out of existence. The same when they started filling pet food with surefire dog/cat killing ingredients. They don’t want us owning pets.
“…and in the end, they’re not after me, they’re after you and I just happen to be standing in their way. It’s my honor to do so, thank you.”
President Donald J. Trump
Agreed!!
Joan! I am grateful to see you here. I mentioned in another link that I had been praying for you and was concerned that some mobile homes took a big hit. Glad to see your post!
God bless!!
How nice! Given the season we are having, I am stunned and pleased at this. My aunt in Ohio was affected by Helene. Lost power and water for days, no flooding, but since when have we worried about hurricanes affecting Ohio!
I still remember Agnes from ‘72, and all the flood damage it caused as far north and inland as Pennsylvania. Many were completely flooded out.
The Lancaster County, PA farming region was also for many years the #2 tornado zone in the US. They just drop down out of nowhere, and run a path of destruction for miles. The only upside is most of the time it is across relatively less developed open farmland.
Natural disasters certainly don’t end at the Mason-Dixon line.
I think that is a nation wide change.
When I last looked into it, no more flood zone. Everyone pays more and “flood” is replaced with “rising water” with some sort of algorithm based on your neighbors damages within a location.
IOW, if you want to protect yourself against a bad 1000 year storm, you will have to pony up the same as someone who lives in a town called Hurricane Alley or Flood Zone Heights.
We’ve had to re-survey twice to have our property removed from FEMA’s revised flood maps/zones. Still cheaper than mandatory flood insurance though.
Because the flood insurance has NEVER covered its costs, it’s always in deficit & desperate for new paying policyholders in NON-FLOODING AREAS. We went through this in CA, where they kept changing the flood maps to include properties that had NEVER flooded. Still, it is never enough.
The taxpayers should never bear the cost of insuring risks that are inherently uninsurable, like floods.
Historically, the compressors on the natural gas pipelines were powered by generators that ran on natural gas from the pipelines themselves. Traders pay a “retainage fee” for the losses incurred during transport, including gas consumed to keep the pressures up.
Recently, emissions regulations are forcing the pipelines to convert to distribution electrical sources, which creates a dependency on grid power. The compressor generators don’t have the same filter tech as the big power plants, so they do emit more, but there’s a vision that you’d run the nat gas system off of emissionless solar some day.
In the meantime, it has created a reliability risk that needn’t exist.
Having the govt subsidize insurance premiums will result in higher premiums. Whatever the government subsidizes, always increases in cost and the increase goes to the seller, not benefiting the buyer.
healthcare cost and college tuition are two prime examples
The counter to that is the mortgage interest deduction, which has been on the books for many decades, and does not impact home mortgage rates in any meaningful way.
I was careful to suggest a deduction, and not a credit. The latter is a more direct subsidy mechanism, and an invitation to pass-thru market price increases.
The left should be totally on board with Trump “reimagining” and “repurposing” the US government.
I won’t be holding my breath.
My home is wired with a 220V switchover at the meter, and I do have a generator but it’s loud as heck and goes through a 5 gallon tank of gas in about five hours even without much of a load. I’d love to get a better generator, one that runs on natural gas or propane. I don’t often need it but we are directly in tornado alley and my town has been hit by an EF5 tornado not all that many years ago. Some people were without power for many days. Also we had an ice storm back in the 2000’s that cut power to some areas for weeks. I’d definitely get a new generator system if this was available to me.
Look into Generac standby generators. They’re made in America and Costco sells them for about $5,400.
I’m sure that tax credit will be for anyone in America that lives in a state that suffers natural disasters, which includes every single state in the union.
I posted yesterday about Generac, avoid them like a Covid shot, even the generator mechanics that work on them won’t have them at their homes.
Why so E? I know of a number of people that have one and love it. Only one neighbor has an older one that always gave him trouble. I was thinking about getting one.
Heard yesterday from Mike Glover that they cost an additional $5,000 to hook up.
Or more depending where you live. If you don’t have gas to the house you will need to get a tank installed.
Mine was less, but full house I had to go 30kw. Wiring was $3500
Briggs and Stratton makes the same type system and more reliable. I put a generac in one house and had issues that were not apparent during the monthly cycle through (starts runs a few minutes like a maintanence thing) then when needed the power wasn’t there. My next 2 I installed the briggs and stratton 1yr on and no issues.
I’ll take a look at the B & S, thanks.
The electronics have had issues for some time as such parts have dried up.
Have very good friends that have a whole house propane, just had a new tank installed as it could not be refilled due to rust / leak at fittings, that is not a Generac fault.
After that they tried to start it and the flex plate connection between the genny side and the engine has failed, the part is not available anywhere, it is basically scrap. They lost power this week as such it’s disheartening to have a unit setting there and no power in your house.
They used sparingly even when needed due to fuel consumption had the uncertainty of availability of deliveries such as areas have now.
Now they have to buy a replacement genset.
After spending 5K for tank replacement they are looking to go diesel so as to run @ 1800 rpm vs 3600 in a gas powered unit.
A 15kw1800 rpm unit will burn around 3/4 gal per hour, we have a 20kw unit at our camp that does the same during heat of summer with all 10 window units and every other thing running.
It’s easy to keep cans for diesel around, both my generators are full plus around 75 gal on hand, after season will run the fuel in my truck and Kubota and replace for next year.
Remember if you find say a 40kw unit usually that is the 3 phase rating, you’ll lose a third when wiring configuration is changed to single phase. That is still a lot of available power.
There are some 30 to 40 kw that as wired residential.
I have an old 15kw that was a marine genset, mounted it on a trailer with a outboard motor style fuel tank with a small 12v fuel pump and a radiator from an F 150, use an automotive style muffler.
Thanks for the info!
Please expand upon this! I just started considering a fixed generator.
$5,400 is about three months of income for me, so that’s a hard pass. But I’d surely like to see others benefit from PT’s proposal. It is remarkable how this man consistently thinks outside of the box.
I recommend Generac as well. Depends on the load your house needs as to size and $$$$$. But its peace of mind for the “just in case”. Generac does all installation, electric work and does the maintenance to insure your warranty is good.
If you can get enough power to run the refrigerator, a few lights and a heater it makes a big difference.
I need to run my well pump.
And an oxygen compressor here.
Have a whole house generator for about 15 years now hooked up to our underground propane tank.
Works great!
Have not had any problems.
Just need to do the yearly maintenance which you can do yourself easily.
That’s not full house or wiring.
Honestly all I need is enough power to keep two refrigerators, a chest freezer, gas furnace, and some home electronics and lights running. We have gas water heaters too so that’s not an issue. I don’t mind not having AC for a few days. It would be nice to be able to run the dishwasher and launder some clothing. So probably 10kw would do the trick. My current generator is 6500w and can get me by in a pinch. I have a 50-ft 220v heavy gauge cable for it too that plugs into my bypass switch, which also makes it safe for electrical workers as it can’t back-feed power into the line transformer.
Reading this thread has reminded me that Sundance includes doing all your laundry as an important part of your Hurricane prep, given that it could be a long time before the water/energy/time are available again.
President Trump thinks about people’s lives. Everyday.
He wants ALL people to have decent lives.
My late husband wanted to install a whole home generator. When he passed away, I just couldn’t do it because they’re so costly. If this were to go into effect, I would consider it but maybe on a smaller scale.
It is ideas like this that proves why we need a real businessman in office!
You should consider something small like a honda portable. You can move it yourself its not too heavy and in a jam it can run your fridge/freezer or if you have any medical things like oxygen/insulin. Won’t run your house obviously but can run some things. You pick the most important and run that. Even just charging your phone can make all the difference sometimes.
That’s what I’m doing. I run a Honda 3000eu. It very quite and fuel efficient. It will run all the small loads like fridge, freezer, lights, etc.
I need to get it plugged into the house circuit so I don’t have to run cords.
Those portables have to be run regularly a few times a year and maintained. And the gasoline fuel needs to not sit in the machine or it turns to shellac the octane rating reduces and it wont start.
the corn ethanol content makes it even worse
I have a Predator 3500 from Harbor Freight. Have connected and run two full size fridges no problem. Very happy with it.
Buy a generator that will power your refrigerator and some lights. You’ll be just fine.
Yeah, but then the government would not have as much control over who has power and who doesn’t.
H Clinton, J Kerry, and all their fellow DC and globalist fellow travellers seen sporting Frownie Faces…
😡 😡 😡
😁 !
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
#2 Caption: The Joker and Cat Woman!
What an odd pair, but perfectly matched on the idiot/crazy scale, their spouses too.
I have come to the conclusion that the abortion factories are needed for all of the rapes that are taking place all over America and mostly via imports, and bathroom/locker room perverts who claim to be women.
Lampposts are multi use.
Took me a minute to figure out what you were saying. But you are right.
I see Vance is wearing a Soros-approved tie.
With the utmost respect friend, I shared misgivings about Vance, as Sundance pointed out and a few of our treepers like BK has posted some very interesting info. I also am suspicious of his wife.
With that being said, I do believe with caution, that he has done some stellar work, he does bring some crucial media alliance allies like Musk, to the PDJT-MAGA alliance. On a personal level, Vance’s reveal that he has read some of Pat Buchanan’s (prophetic) books makes his turnaround ring true to me.
“It is no bad thing to have the Washington Post anoint J.D. Vance as the heir to Pat Buchanan. It is also the truth. The Vance candidacy gives Ohio voters a real choice, not an echo of Club For Growth conservatism wearing populist drag. As I told the Post reporter, J.D. has made the breakthrough to realizing that the culture war is really class war. A US Senator who has understood that can go very far claiming unexplored territory in American politics — and in owning the conservative future.”
J.D. Vance: Pat Buchanan’s Heir

President Reagan and President Trump also had big turnarounds and became champions of freedom.
People can change, praise God!
“People can change, praise God!”
Worked for me, and yes! Praise Be!
“People can change, praise God!”
This is so true. Having not fully grasped concept of “Uniparty” at the time, I cried when GWB left office and OBummer was installed. I actually believed BO signaled the “start of America’s takeover”.
Boy, was I wrong.
I thank our Lord for Sundance, CTH Team and the everyday discussions among Treepers for enlightening me.
I like to think that JD Vance is the new James Garfield–both from poor upbringings in Ohio–Garfield would have been a great President if he had not been shot–a real tragedy as the shot was not fatal, the horrendous care by his physician who kept digging his dirty fingers into the wound was what cause his death months later (from sepsis). I liken that arrogant hard headed malignant physician to Fauci. Garfield had piercing blue eyes as well!
His Pat Buchanan book enlightenment means he passed my personal test for Populist PDJT-MAGA sincerity. Slainte friend
I’m still cautious of JD but I stumbled across a Town Hall he had in Bristol Tn with Danica Patrick, hosting.(Nascar Fame) and he took every question and never turned one down. He was very gracious, and had great answers. We shall see I guess…He IS very likable.
I can appreciate that the Uniparty tactics work for you. That’s why they keep doing it. They work.
Thiel can be a Deep State oligarch, slopping from the federal trough, buy an unaccomplished whore like Vance and put his brand on his back, and voila… he’s bought a US Senator for $15M. He even moves his mouth when and how Thiel tells him.
But Vance will always be a whore, paid to put out for the criminal oligarch who owns him.
Now, he could redeem himself, and stop being a whore. He could write a letter to the good people of Ohio, resigning from the US Senate, while apologizing for stealing from those good people their Constitutional right to select their own representation, and not have that right be stolen by a whore who whored out for Thiel’s $15M, swamping all in the Thiel pimp’s path.
Redemption is possible always. But it won’t come from hot gas blowing out of the whore’s mouth today, although that does work on some, apparently. That’s why they do it, as mentioned above.
I’d ignore anything from the WaPo, btw. They’re owned by a pimp similar to Thiel, who also pays his stable of whores.
I don’t think that is “purple” enough to be seen as officially recognized “Globalist Neckwear”.
I suggest this:
“The executioner’s rope of the 1700 and 1800s was one the hangman’s most important tools as no hanging could be accomplished without it. All executioners relied on a good rope, chief among them was William Marwood. He was known for having developed the hanging technique known as the “long drop.” It ensured a prisoner’s neck was broken instantly so that the prisoner died of asphyxia while unconscious rather than dying from strangulation using the “short drop” method.”

How about the government stop subsidizing period. Let’s get rid of taxes and regulations, let Americans be responsible again.
Until your post, I did not see anyone post that a subsidy (even a tax credit) will result in higher prices for generators.
I think we need to get rid of the taxes and regulations first, and then do away with the subsidies.
If we stop the subsidies first, government will think of some excuse to retain taxes and regulations.
Yes. Go back to tariffs and excise taxes.
Reduce the size of govenment dramatically before we can consider getting rid of taxes.
First thing I see upon awakening today.
President Trump, once again. Making AMERICA FIRST.
God Bless and protect this man.
At this point he’s “suggesting” America first. But I get it. Tomato Tumahtoe
I can hear the illogical Communist Propaganda now:
“If Trump supported the Green New Deal against CLIMATE CHANGE, he would not need a tax credit for generators! Those hurricanes and tornadoes are the fault of deniers of global warming!”
Problem: global cooling has been occurring, as the sun is in a cycle of less energy right now!
e.g. See:

Every single time I read a proposed Trump policy I always react the same way “F-ing brilliant!!”…I love this man….
Made in America generators, no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, drill baby drill, replacing globalism with Americanism! President Donald Trump has us going in the right direction!
An America that prays together stays together! Wake up America! We are One Nation Under God.

New world record for electric vehicle is set at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana
By RUSSELL INGOLD and ALEJANDRO CANO
18 Oct 2017
https://www.fontanaheraldnews.com/news/new-world-record-for-electric-vehicle-is-set-at-auto-club-speedway-in-fontana/article_0aff2de0-b44a-11e7-8704-c37fdf8515d3.html
“Los Angeles-based company IT Asset Partners (ITAP) claimed the official Guinness Book of World Records title for the greatest distance covered by an electric vehicle, single charge (non-solar), on Oct. 17.
The vehicle, which was called the Phoenix, traveled more than 1,600 kilometers around the speedway’s track over a two-day consecutive run, breaking the previous record of 1,298 kilometers set in Japan in 2013. The Guinness Book of World Records flew in adjudicator Michael Empric to personally verify ITAP’s world record.
The vehicle was created by ITAP leader Eric Lundgren and is made from 90 percent recycled parts in an effort to promote electronic waste recycling, and it cost less than $14,000 to build.
“Dreams do come true,” Lundgren said.”
RFK, Jr. should be on board with this too.
Thanks for the link. I’m interested in finding out how much it would cost to have a battery storage for my 6000w bi fuel generator
I’m a bit confused here. The generator is your backup, no? Invest in a larger propane tank then — much better than batteries. If you didn’t and/or couldn’t have a generator, then you could use batteries to backup power, but you’d charge them off your main power. Batteries are not an optimal solution, IMO
If a system has battery + generator, all the excess power produced by the generator can charge the battery. When fully charged the generator can be shut off for a time to save fuel and reduce noise.
Noise reduction is nice for peace of mind and an asset in a shtf scenario.
My thinking exactly. You have a generator cranking out 6000w but at times your only consuming 1000, where do the other 5000 go? No where unless you have a battery.
6000w @ 2 hours = 12,000w. My house consumes 13.3 kWh/day normally. We could cut it back (and would if SHTF) and get by all day on 8-10 kWh. Running the generator for 2 hours produces all the energy we need for a day. PLUS it conserves the propane/gas fuel stores. (reminds me, I have to do the calcs of fuel consumption/hour)
OK so let’s go with 8 kwh/day. That’s 8000/120 = 67 Amp-hours per day. This seems optimistically low to me but that’s your numbers. You can easily find 100 Ah deep cycle batteries in the range of $150-200
Account for efficiency of your charger/inverter and how many days of backup you want, and that’s how many batteries to buy. I
You need a sine wave inverter if you want to run electronics like TV or computer. If you just want to run a heat pump you can just have a power inverter. Since even a stove or a microwave has electronics these days I’d spend the money on a sine wave inverter.
Thanks, saved me from writing. this is why it is important to go thru the thread before posting.
Another real world way to find the duration of battery life going thru an inverter would be talk to someone with or go to an RV store. The coaches all have multiple deep cycle batteries and inverters.
Don’t faint when you see the cost of a quality sine wave inverter.
Sailboat people have been dealing with these issues it seems forever.
Forgot to mention thats at 12V. So nominally thats 1.2 kwh per battery less your efficiency
Good question Charles. Thing is, if there is wide spread destruction due to an earthquake, I don’t want to have a generator going 24/7 announcing to the neighborhood that I have power. 3 days without power people starting getting desperate. Plus it’s noisy AF.
It’s all a work in progress but I do have backup propane tanks for now
That’s My President!
Bringing jobs back home and giving a tax break too!!
Then we will “DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!”
That is how true leaders solve problems! 1 bit at a time!
🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌
That is how true leaders solve problems! 1 bit at a time!
Yes, and by knowing how to prioritize.
Why don’t we just eliminate the income tax and switch to a Fair Tax? Then you can propose no tax on generators.
Why don’t we just eliminate the Federal Income Tax altogether? Defund the Federal Bureaucracy, and take the (perceived) moneypot away from Congress. Let the States tax, run and regulate themselves! We also need to do “something” to rein in the Fed, prohibit indiscriminate money-printing, and transfer the Federal Debt to the States. They will retire it within 20 years.
How about eliminating the Fed and returning to gold and silver.too.
Much harder to inflate.
And, let’s mandate a balanced budget every year.
Not to be outdone, the Harris campaign just announced that they are proposing generator credits for ALL states.
Doesn’t do any damn good if we can’t afford the fuel to run the Chinese-made garbage.
Maybe you missed the part where PDJT specified the credit for only Made in the USA generators?
And whatever Commie-La proposes matters not a whit, because she’s lying about all of it.
Great idea; would only add to not limit such a tax credit to residents and businesses in certain States but have it for all States given the new thing happening is power companies are beginning to cut off the power to houses in high wind, high temperatures, low temperatures, etc., etc. because the power grids are old and can’t handle the extra demand. That happened in California this year and even our northern Nevada power company had put out a warning of potential emergency shut off to protect from high load demand (thankfully they never did shut it off).
Not to mention the government can shut off the juice if they deem us too unruly.
Thats why im thinking diesel is the best choice, because diesel trucking will never go away, whereas ng and propane are easier for the govt to control.
besides, diesel backup is what is most common for big facilities
Oh I hear the whining already. He did not list my state…we have weather issues too, he is not including everyone, it would be better to do this…Wonk, wonk, wonk. Come on people, grow up. If you think your life could be better with a generator (be it solar, gas power, manual, or whole house, do what you think is best for you without looking for a handout.
I have had 2 houses that we paid full price for installing, purchase and NEVER got a rebate! I am going to have installed another where I live now. Please…stop with the whining.
Do we no longer possess abilities to think for ourselves? Are we so attached to the poor me crap that we immediately start picking apart any suggestion for stability, help, a PLAN….
I am going to just pass this thread. There are small groups of isolated people living on damaged ground in NC hills who are being brutalized by media and government. They would love to have a space to try to use a generator no matter how it is powered OR if it qualifies. The government is determined to steal their land for lithium and quartz…
I am happy Trump makes the suggestion. Nothing more, nothing less. Focus on the real problems we have…Right now those people who are still alive in NC but stranded and isolated need BLANKETS…and don’t forget they have lost real human beings, animals, EVERYTHING! There are at least 160 CHILDREN missing in one of those small towns. AND DEAD bodies still on the river beds…and we are worried that we may not get a tax break on a generator?
Sorry, I am in a very cranky mood. No time for nonsense!
Well said. I thought the same. “ME. ME. ME. What about me?”. That’s how we got into this mess to start with.
I (an incredibly naive, ignorant, and selfish 18 year old) voted for Barry in 2008 because of what he promised to do for ME.
I was the problem. We HAVE to change the ME narrative or it is going to destroy us. Jesus taught us better.
Ever notice that the lefties NEVER refer to JFK ? In particular his most famous speech in which he states : “ask NOT what you’re country can do for You – ask what YOU can do for your country !”
Just curious. Did you ever get your ‘Obama phone’?😉
It wasn’t the phone I was hoping for. My boyfriend (who later became my husband) was in Iraq that year. I just wanted the war over and my man home.
But no, I never got the phone. And neither of us ever got our college education paid for either, come to think of it..
The party of lies! Run by the father of lies!
I see it differently.
Anything that will help the average person to be more self sufficient enhances their survivability in just such disasters, but with the current administration sending inflation through the roof we need all the help we can get to afford such equipment.
If each family that possibly can, gets a generator and other disaster gear, that reduces the load on the charities and agencies that are here to help in such disasters, AND it reduces the dependence of folks on a government bent on destroying our nation.
So me being able to afford to prepare is not “me, me, me!” but it is reducing the load on an over strained system.
Each of us who can, needs to spit ourselves out of the system, and I see nothing wrong with using the system to help us to do so.
I am not talking about prepping. Lord, I am 81, female, who has lived in major cities, and moved to rural areas, to even more rural areas, have prepped one way or another for over 60 yrs. AND I never expected any tax breaks, or help from the govt. I never have said “We live in xixixixixixi, so I don’t consider this fair as we do get tornados here.” That is what I am talking about. I am talking about the whining that comes from that kind of statement. It is my recommendation that every man/woman do some prep in order to be less dependent on others while making yourself more able to help those who simply are lazy or selfish, or need. NO whining.
I am happy for those who have any type of generator. I have used gas powered ones. And I have used whole house auto gens too. I like the lazy part of whole house but it is expensive. I like the solar gens but they are limited. Gas powered are not for the lazy or those softies who may melt if they have go outside in the rain to start it! If the govt wants to give a tax “credit” for such Hooray. Ya know they do that with appliances or evs or solar or wind. So? And we have some on this site who whine cause Trump did not list their state. Man we are sick…
Guess what: those people in NC who have NOTHING will feel fortunate to receive ANY form of generator. But because it is a gift, they can’t claim as tax credit. And they have next to zero, as well as loss of loved ones and animals.
Stop whining people.
A generator is not going to make anyone more self-sufficient. Whether we are dependent on an electrical grid or a fuel can, we are still dependent. A generator, whether it be fuel powered or solar powered is only a short-term solution. Better than no solution, but short-term solutions don’t help us break away from the system. If that’s the goal – maybe we need to expand our thinking past electricity all together. Nobody NEEDS a whole home generator. To have one is a blessing of convenience. If I had one, I’d trade it for a wood cookstove lickety-split!
I guess Mississippi is an “other State”
It’s okay, PDJT, we still love you. 🙂
I would rather see the money spent on better water catchment, solar street lighting, and underground cables. The cables could be laid at the same time as pipes. That would reduce property tax bills for all, and should reduce home insurance.
Water catchment has been declared illegal by certain state and local govs
Taxation is theft.
The government is a bloated, unaccountable monstrosity that feeds on taxation. Like free food at McDonalds. And they let you keep some fries sometimes and pat themselves on the back for being so magnanimous.
This all needs to change.
I appreciate his ideas, but he is working within the present paradigm.
It needs to change. But I repeat myself.
IT NEEDS TO CHANGE.
Yes, it does.
But in the meantime, helping Americans to prepare for disasters by reducing the tax revenue to the government (giving tax credits does that) strikes me as genius!
He knows that.
And he has no choice but to work within the present paradigm.
Eyes on the prize but feet on the ground. That’s PDJT.
Indiana has tornados. And our State government is shutting down our coal-fired power plants as fast as they can. For the sake of fairness, I hope he reconsiders and goes nation-wide with the policy.
I think he likely will.
Someone above pointed out that his statement does not imply limiting to only some states.
Business and problem solving…
Never forget the skating rink that he had fixed and operational, very quickly…after NYC wasted a ton of money and lots of time.
Under budget and ahead of schedule.
.
I wonder if the Generac we put in years ago would qualify? (One of the best insurance policies you can invest in)
Sundance.
Regarding more frequent & more severe hurricanes.
I started watching the newest All In Podcast. At the beginning, Friedberg explains why the oceans are now warmer – bc the stupid climate cult has banned sulphur dioxide from being used in the fuel for ships.
Remember the ship that took out the bridge in Maryland? It was noted that the ship lost power – but some people commented on the “new” fuel regulations having been a factor.
I know you’re busy, but wanted to bring your attention to this.
Outstanding idea.
We have direct lightning strikes, and ice storms that occasionally knock the power out. The hot & humid summers are when I cannot afford to go without electricity to run the A/C and I do have a small generator just for that purpose. Would be nice to have a bigger generator but I can get by with what I’ve got. I can also run 12 volt from solar panels when I need it, though not enough to run bigger appliances.
Donald Trump is what this country needs in order to start the healing process, get us back on our feet.
Speaking of “watch how fast”. Watch how fast the Harris campaign says they will offer the same. Have they ever come up with a good idea of their own?
Their ideas?
Open borders
Give our sovereignty to the WHO
Medicare for all – and I do mean ALL
Mandatory gun buyback
Packing the Supreme Court
Elimination of the First Amendment, government censorship
Price Fixing
24/7 State Surveillance
Increase taxes, including efforts to take some or all of your IRAs, 401s, and any other savings
Tax on unrealized gains
“Equitable” use in school admissions, disaster relief, housing, economic programs and worst of all in the “justice” system
If all that doesn’t work to their satisfaction then use Population Replacement
Now we know what the extra 89,000 IRS agents are all about … and why they’re armed.
People who can’t see the absolute totalitarianism screaming from this slate (and it’s predecessor) aren’t looking. Great ideas, yes? I probably missed a few.
Yep.
The ideas of the Globalists/Leftists pretty much boil down to :
They hate us and want us dead.
Brilliant! I would buy two! A solar and a gas generator!
And let’s get a really crack team of true scientist geeks together to design something innovative such as magnetic, kinetic, fusion, bike pedaled or???
That’s America!
Wait! On second thought, let’s just start with making “generators”. TPTB will fight funding self sustaining energy sources to the death. They can’t allow us to be off their profitable grid.
One step at a time!
Elon will probably open a plant here to build generators that switch seamlessly between power sources of choice – probably all possible ones (public electric, gas nat or liquid, propane, mule hitch – the sky is the limit with people who think as he does).
I hope this deduction will be available everywhere. As more “green” electric production gets forced on us, the grid becomes less reliable; at the same time as electric consumption goes up.
Like a Boss.💪🏻
We have full house Generac and have had it for many years. We love it. We’ve had to use it for weeks at a time after storms and never had any problems. The local dealer came to the house, had three employees, had it hooked up completely in three hours. They are pros. We paid under $8,000 for the generator AND installation, all of it, and they do check it once a year to make sure everything is working properly, oil is changed etc. You can buy them yourself at Lowes and other places, but then you have to pay an electrician to come out and hook it up.
Ours is natural gas, you can get propane.
Is Generac made in USA?
Quick search found this below. Also, from another site, a note that most of Generac’s generators are built in the USA, but some OHV engines are made overseas.
DuckAssistBETA
Generac generators are primarily made in the United States, with their engines crafted in Wisconsin. The company’s manufacturing facilities are located in various cities in Wisconsin, including Waukesha, Berlin, Oshkosh, Jefferson, Eagle, and Whitewater.

We also have a whole house Generac, powered by underground propane tank. Have had no issues. We lose power frequently and it never fails. However, we recently had to replace the board (brain) and that was expensive. Close to $1,000.
Natural disasters is not the only exposure.
Think national disaster.
Think ‘grid’.
PREACH THAT!
If we “must” have income tax, then how about subsidies/write offs for home power generators and water and food storage.
A nation that is prepared for disasters, be they natural, man-made, or act of war, is a nation less likely to succumb to those disasters.
And a prepared nation is less of a tempting target to our enemies.
President Eisenhower made building an interstate highway system a national defense priority.
We need to do the same with home power and food and water self sufficiency.
And how about getting our utility companies on board?
Give them a choice between tax incentives or tax penalties.
With or without a tax credit, a small (or large) generator and some fuel storage is an essential prep item, imo.
YES!! MAGA!!
Hope he extends that to folks who live in snow country.
While we don’t get the horrible destruction from hurricanes, lives have been lost due to blizzard caused power outages.
Actually, I think it would be good to have tax credits for all emergency preps.
We need to be our own first responders.
Anything that would keep more of our money out of the corruptocrat’s hands is a good thing. It’s time to starve the beast.
While you’re at it President Trump, how about a push to pass the increase in the capital gains exclusion for homeowner’s who sell their home from $250k/$500k to $500k/$1 million, adjusted annually for inflation. There was already a bi-partisan bill submitted in the House to do this, but it’s gone nowhere recently. It would stimulate home sales, reduce prices and make homes more affordable to everyone. The exclusion has not been adjusted since 1996!
I am not connected with the solar industry, and can’t really benefit from solar.
The layout of my lot, my house, and the surrounding trees on both my and all my neighbors yards, means there is not enough direct sunlight long enough in the day to make solar a primary source.
But I do have Gas Service.
Not everyone does, so this should also include installing LNG/Propane tank for the generator in emergencies and for a gas water heater or stove if so desired. I have seen when an alternate source is installed in industry, some how the utility provider always manages to lower the rates. Could help homes too.
Even so, I wish he would also include solar, for those who could benefit, and so that industry would also be encouraged to move state side. I could put in a few panel for a small battery bank that would provide some emergency power similar to the brick UPS system I have not only on my computer, but on my TV and DVR and refrigerator and freezer. It would be vulnerable to a storm true, but the batter bank would be there like a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) until the generator kicks in just like at a hospital or factory.
People have been getting tax rebates on solar for years.
Need any more encouragement?

Man, Trump is one WEIRD politician. The practical stuff he suggests would make ya think that he once actually worked for a living, that he made stuff and created jobs. Politicians generally don’t/haven’t worked, and the only ideas they have are those that some academic genius gives them, geniuses who themselves have never worked for a living, built things, or created jobs.
And ya wonder why things in this country are so warped and twisted and evil?
And ya wonder why Trump is the most hated, persecuted, and falsely prosecuted man in US history?
Then I wonder how Trump will survive the government’s all-hands assault against him, before November, or even if they allow him to win and take the oval office in January 2025. The Federal judges will issue nationwide injunctions to stop every E.O. he issues. The Senate, GOP or DNC lead, will reject every nominee Trump submits for AG, FBI, DOD, etc., demanding that he instead install their deep state plants. The DOJ will start new prosecutions made of up whole cloth. The DOD Senior brass will reject and refuse his orders. His cabinet secretaries will resume their empire building, and endless government spending. The civil war that the rebel Communist Democrats began in 2016 will resume in earnest.
Martial law is Trump’s only option to bring a rebellious government bureaucracy and DOJ/FBI/DHS/CIA outlaws to heel. That’s a lousy solution, a democratic republic and equal justice under the law is better, but it’s the only option that will stop them. Military tribunals run by retired military brass (ya know, the oath keepin’ types?), then hang all the communists.
He survives by the hand of God hovering over him.
Keep him in your prayers, and give thanks to God for such a man, at such a time as this.
Brilliant! Home Generators save lives during a crisis and Generac is a huge company out of Wisconsin, a swing state which could motivate a lot of their employees to vote.
yes, i really liked that it’s in Wi when i went shopping.
put in a 17 Kw whole house, hard wired, natural gas powered, automatic stand-by, with heater (since in chicagoland),
Generac about 9 years ago.
had a concrete pad poured as base.
no problems at all.
absolutely worth it, 1000%.
best home improvement money i ever spent.
maintenance 1 X / year, many electricians are also manufacturer certified techs, so easy to find service.
declined monitoring as well, not an issue.
Dad had one of the early residential Generac stand-bys, still running great after 30 years when sold house.
priority was heat/AC, sump, refrigerator.
large appliances (W/D, D/W, etc.) no problem, but i would run one at a time with base needs to minimize draw.
( 20 Kw would have been overdoing it.)
not that loud. low hum in house if in a room near unit.
exterior lighting does signal you’ve got a backup power source,
but also signals you’re home and can monitor situation clearly.
no plug-ins on mine so the extension cord issue is moot.
yes, peace of mind is a thing, and after a couple of two and three week outages, you try to avoid them!!
and yes, this again illustrates PT’s ability to formulate actual solutions to problems, and support autonomy.
baby steps to restart the spirit of independence in the general populace.
i’m fer it!😁
Obama put a generator and a few thousand pounds of propane at his estate in Martha’s Vineyard a few years ago. I’m sure he would have liked the tax credit. They tried to fact check this but had to admit it was true with the exception it was multiple tanks. Usually you buy them in 500 – 1,000 lb tanks and connect them. I would bet that is what they did.
Why would Obama need a generator at his multi-million dollar Vineyard home? If he loses power, he can fly his private jet to his multi-million dollar home in Hawaii. If they lose power, he can fly to his multi-million dollar home in Washington, D.C(the actual White House). If they lose power, he can fly to his multi-million dollar home in Chicago.
I believe I remember it was 2 10,000 pound tanks
Wow. I hadn’t heard this. Obviously lots of factors unknown, but that would keep basic appliances running for more than a year. Makes a person wonder what he knows that we dont?
“The select board approved a request for a 2,500-gallon commercial propane tank for 79 Turkeyland Cove Road in Katama — owned by former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. “We’ve never had a private propane tank come to us,” said select board member Arthur Smadbeck, with select board member Michael Donaroma noting a private-residence propane tank is typically a fraction of the quantity being requested. “
Not that I need another reason to love this man….President Trump continues to demonstrate “He’s with us” and fully grasps the needs of Americans.
Trump = Everyman.
MAGA-G
Anything but solar, windmills, kamalah or Useless FEMA 😉
There’s a 30% tax credit for solar panels so it makes sense to have the same tax credit for backup generator systems which for areas without a natural gas connection will require a large propane tank installation. Your average 20lb tank will only last a day at the most even with limited use!
