I’m not surprised, I’m just angry. According to Kevin Rojek, the head of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office leading the investigation into the attempted assassination of President Trump, Matthew Crooks acted alone -no coconspirators- and the FBI has no idea what his motive was.
According to the representative for the “best men” the Federal Bureau of Investigation has, Crooks might have been a leftist or a far-right extremist, they are just not sure.
What the FBI does know is that no one taught or helped Crooks make complicated explosives, and they are sure he acted alone… for some mysterious reason…. that culminated in a bullet passing through the top of President Trump’s right ear.
The pretending that permeates the FBI is infuriating to me. It is almost difficult to write or share this stuff.

“Extensive analysis of the subject’s online search history as well as his specific online activity has provided us valuable insight into his mindset, but not a definitive motive,” Kevin Rojek, the head of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, told reporters Wednesday.
So far, he added, the FBI sees “no definitive ideology … either left-leaning or right-leaning” associated with the shooter, Thomas Crooks.

He became “hyper-focused” on Trump’s July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after it was announced. Crooks fired eight shots at Trump from a rooftop that day, killing one person in the crowd, injuring two others and injuring Trump’s ear. Within seconds, a Secret Service sniper shot and killed Crooks.
There are no signs that Crooks had any co-conspirators or had links to foreign entities, officials said.
The FBI has accessed and analyzed material from encrypted email accounts he used, officials added.

Actually (disclaimer, the pix is not clear enough) most AR rifles with the collapsing stock have a cover over the buffer tube that goes all the way back. This one looks like its missing a piece of cover just in front of the butt plate, really hard to determine.

Unclear is the best that I can do. Qualifier (most) collapsing stocks have a piece that extends from the cheek piece all the way back to the butt of the stock which rests on the shoulder. There is at least one that has a clean angle and a space in between. The pix looks like neither example.

Open the image in a new tab, zoom in. The buttstock in all pictures is missing about 4 inches where the buffer tube passes through. It’s a common collapsing stock. The picture next to the backpack has it collapsed, buffer tube visible. The fact that the butt still functionally collapses leads me to believe buffer is probably intact. It’s all moot, they’re just trying to distract us.
Strange, the other AR in the picture to the left, with the backpack, isn’t missing that same piece on the lower.
The collapsed stock portion that is missing is showing the buffer tube where the missing portion of the stock is exposed when extended in the photo of the assembled rifle.

My feeling is that when someone attempts to kill a world leader, the act speaks for itself. There is no need to establish motive because the motive is inherent.
This is different from most other homicides in which the act does not speak for itself. For instance, if a father kills his son, it’s critical to establish a motive because there is no inherent reason for it. But within the desire to kill or attempt to kill a major political figure, there is an inherent reason for the killing, and that is the killing itself, which is uniquely different from other homicides.
CONCLUSION: Crooks sought to kill Trump because he wanted to kill Trump, and the inference from that is clear, i.e., Crooks didn’t want Donald Trump, political figure, former president of the United States, and republican candidate for president, to have a chance to win the presidency again.
Now, was he a Trump supporter? Impossible!
Was he indifferent to politics? Impossible!
Was he a Democrat? Maybe

Those you’ve heard opining that the FBI, the entire structure, should be demolished on a Trump win and a new organization raised from the ashes were not guilty of hyperbole. The current organization cannot be saved – it’s deeply a part of the Deep State. So take any conclusions from it in stride, with a grain of salt. I don’t expect a rattlesnake to fetch the evening paper, the IRS to offer me advice on how to lower my taxes, or the FBI to pursue anything resembling justice. And so my expectations remain tempered and I’m seldom overly disappointed or unreasonably provoked.
