A friend and neighbor couple, age mid-80’s. The wife had serious dementia with psychotic spells in which she thought her husband or some other person was trying to kill her. For her safety and his, she was transferred to an Alzheimer’s care facility in 2019. In 2020, husband was prevented from seeing her at all for months until a window was installed where he could see her and she see him through glass.
She died in mid-2021. He wasn’t allowed to see her at the end. The church televised the funeral, but nobody was able to be there for him in his grief after 60 years of marriage.
A friend with Covid was hospitalized, given Remdesevir, put on a ventilator and died alone without her husband or children able to see her or have any say about her care or treatment. Again, a funeral with nobody there.
