Exactly, they aren’t REALLY “RARE” in terms of only found in Zaire and afganistan, they are called rare because they are dispersed widely, i.e. pretty much everywhere, but THINLY.
So, you have to process a gajillion tons of dirt, to extract a few ounces of the “rare earth metal”.

Call me crazy but isn’t inflation due largely to monetary policy, not fiscal policy? I had been taught by “old school” teachers that inflation is due mainly to an increase in the supply of dollars which are chasing or competing for the same amount of goods and services, thus forcing the price higher. Business schools today, I know, teach something COMPLETELY different. But I suppose if you look at inflation in this nation through the 19th century up to let’s say 1912 and then compare that to the inflation rate from 1913 to present. In the the 19th century the inflation was relatively flat except for a hiccup during the Civil War. In comparison, from 1913 to present the dollar has been devalued by 98% or so….
This bought of inflation started with cutting O&G exploration and was worsened greatly be excessive government spending. Fed policies made it worse but did not do near the damage of Fed spending. If fed spending had been productive it might have been a different story. But it was not productive spending, it was non-productive spending on woke policies, trany’s, the green crappy deal, DEI etc. etc. You might as well have piled all that money and burnt it as it did nothing for us but increase our debt greatly. It was a massive transfer of wealth from working men and women to liberals and leftists and their causes and states.
Its supply side inflation, not demand side. There are not hordes of people chasing after goods and services. Instead, savings are getting drawn down ande personal debt and car loans are going bad
In general Government borrowing / “printing money” (ie quantative easing) and not producing more real goods in the economy produces a large chunk inflation.
Also telling a large part of the population to stay home, not work and give them stimmy check handouts produces inflation. (Such as was the scamdemic experiment, kicked off by Trumps “operation warp speed” to get people injected with mRNA gene therapy)
I think its a little short sighted – and personally I find it quite weak – to just blame Joe Biden and the green new deal. Inflation was already well underway under Trump. Trump never had a balanced budged either, running trillions of deficit.

A large part of future inflation might be attributed to the US dollar getting weaker in reserve currency status (it wont disappear, just countries will choose to use different currencies) Those dollars will start to come home. More dollars at home and same goods equals yet higher inflation. Joe Biden’s appaling foreign policy expedited that for sure. So maybe Trump can blame Joe Biden for that one, and not just the Green new deal.

If Trump can convince the oil and gas companies to start spending money to drill more and more but we are still connected to world prices, the middle east suppliers can further reduce their supplies to maintain high prices. Do we try to decouple from world pricing to lower our energy costs? How do we make our domestic suppliers do that? And we have many supply contracts in Europe to honor. Do we sell to them at higher world prices? Likely.

Its even worse here in Australia. I work in manufacturing and the idiocy of rushing to renewables which simply cannot supply around 70% of the time means power prices have skyrocketed.
This is the root cause for inflation here, but the dumb Reserve bank here wants to keep raising interest rates. Fix the root cause of the problem rather than attacking the result of it.

The base problem with the US is the loss of most of the industry that enabled it to prevail in WWII and become the global superpower after that. The loss accelerated in the 1980’s with corporate offshoring for profit, then really took off with China taking the lead in drawing industry away from the US, as it capitalized on this trend to build itself into the new global industrial superpower.
Everything else driving the US down stems from this loss of industry, now including the myriad factors driving inflation. Can Trump restore the former industrial might of the US, hobbled by DIE and competing with China? The profound blighting caused by over 50 years of DIE by various names cannot be overstated, many jumped on this bandwagon due to declining opportunities in industry, and now it has a complete stranglehold on everything – hard work, meritocracy, and common literacy in all things is decimated and disparaged as “racist”, including in education which is the pipeline of the engineering and science needed for industry. The broad loss of competencies is profound, this is a crippling societal condition now that necessitates government helicopter money to keep things propped up – even more inflation.
The climate canard is a way to pay the bills for a huge number of people who no longer find opportunity in the shrunken vestige of industry. This huge parasite class is funded largely by government deficit spending. This is driving intentional energy constrictions and foolhardy initiatives like EVs and further energy self-strangulation by things like solar and wind power, all of which leads to economic contraction and inflation. But notice: This is only happening to the West – China & co. are not self-harming by this. Why only the US Bloc? This should be a wake-up call about something much greater in play.
Another driver has been the Ukraine conflict, itself the tip of NATO expansionism which has kept the US MIC fed as basic US industry has evaporated. Remember the Nordstream sabotage effect? EU industrial powerhouse Germany is falling now because energy is too expensive. Could that have been part of the goals of the Nordstream sabotage? And energy prices in the West also affected by sanctions.
The immigration flooding the US and EU is supported by business interests who want to profit from dirt-cheap labor for the rent based economy replacing industry. This is also driving inflation, especially housing and used vehicle costs increases due to huge demand increases by immigrants.
Even the bio-pharma nightmare inflicting increasing harm on Americans can be traced to the loss of industry, which has rerouted many into this field, growing it into the predatory monster it has become. This sector is over 20% of US GDP now, more than double US industry.
Where to now? It seems the US regime is pushing for direct major war, but: “Making war without industry is an oxymoron”. So why would they be doing that? Could this be their planned endgame to deal with the out-of-control US sovereign debt without industry, ending with the US held by debt as a lesser “partner” in a post-war “multi-polar global governance” dominated by China?
