On June 3rd it was previously announced by her office that representative Sheila Jackson-Lee was battling pancreatic cancer. [I wrote about it/her here]
Today, her office announced she died. Cancer is horrible. While it is sometimes difficult to find resilient grace and appropriate words for prayer; that does not absolve us of the commands of our faith. I will pray for Mrs Sheila Jackson-Lee and her family. Understanding the path of light was fully within her control.
Dear Lord, we come to you seeking strength and grace. While we ask You to protect us from those who give no thought to the harmful consequences of their irresponsible actions, we also beg for grace -and forgiveness- within our prayers for those who blindly trespass. Shield us from the injurious situations they cause, let their malicious intents be hindered and target our prayers when comeuppance arrives.
As we earnestly try to live in peace with everyone, keep us away from contentious people who might incite us to react without pause or grace. Provide us with gracious, strong yet gentle words for healing that may help pacify the troubled hearts of the malicious. We make effort to glorify You and give testimony of our faith at every opportunity.
Guide and comfort the family of Mrs. Sheila Jackson Lee. During this time of loss and sorrow, bring them closer to You. We beg You to wrap Your wing of love around them, in the way that only Your purity can provide. In Your name of mercy, we pray.

Always a time and place, and the ever so true, if one can’t say something nice, say nothing at all, or so I’ve been told from youth on up.
It is a very confounding thing to see what people do when they know the end of their life here on earth is upon them, even more confounding is to then see such souls to not spend every second possible and every attention they have left within them upon the ones they love, so
always assume the path they now walk could use simple prayers. Have heard in tales gone by that to leave with bitterness can cause such souls to cling to that which they embitter, and really, would think those who loved her on earth would most love for her beloved soul to keep going forward on the path our Creator has laid out for her, right?
A bitter hater to the very end. We know where she rests and it’s not in peace, it’s in excruciating torment.

Those who are so attached to this life/world that they do not consider the ramifications of their actions and the fact that is appointed once for man to die, and after that to face judgement, will stop and realize we will all be as Shelia Jackson-Lee one day, gone from this earth. May the truth of that fact cause people to seek God, and repent. No one knows what was on Shelia Jackson Lee’s heart before she died, she may have been like the thief on the cross or defiant to the end. Only God knows a heart. For those who still draw breath, it is not too late and that is who I pray for.

Sorry and no disrespect, but you need to reread the entire quote without parsing it. With respect judgement and one’s salvation, God doesn’t dispense forgiveness or listen to prayers for forgiveness after death. Judgement is going to be dispensed according to His standards per His word (the Bible).

Sundance, you are much more charitable than I. I cannot muster the grace you have shown. I have tried, but I have not been able to recall any redeeming social value of this person. If shown, I am willing to stand corrected and recant my criticism.
I understand your feeling, but I am reminded that there is no such thing as “redeeming social value.” The Bible says that we are ALL sinners; thoroughly wicked in comparison to God. That means me, you and Sheila Jackson Lee are IDENTICAL in that way. Our ONLY hope for salvation is through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I pray that God shows His mercy and His justice to Miss Lee and her family. I pray that God would guide her family to salvation and that He would shower them with His love and mercy. May we pray the Word of God from Romans 10:9 for ALL who still remain on this side of eternity:

I wouldn’t wish pancreatic cancer on anyone. I observed it happen to the wife of a close friend and colleague at work and it is horrible. Shiela answers to a higher authority now. “Salvation is God’s work. At the same time, our motives, desires, and actions are voluntary, and we are rightly held responsible for them.”
If she was a Blood-bought, Spirit-sealed believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her life did not reflect that. It’s the prolific lying and baby-killing that gets me the most. Therefore, if Scripture is true and I believe it to be 1000% inerrant, she is in hell right now, being tormented for eternity not for her lying and baby-killing, that could have been forgiven, but for her refusal to bow to our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. If it’s not okay to preach this most important of messages, then we might as well all pack up and go home. Absolutely nothing is more important than this. Almighty Jehovah is calling on everyone everywhere to repent and believe the Gospel. Deathbed conversions are very rare, people die as they have lived. I implore everyone to call on the Name of the Lord and be saved, today. Today is the day of salvation.

In reading her bio, she was the clearly a recipient of black privilege. She got a scholarship because she was black. She undoubtedly was able to transfer to Yale to graduate because she was black. Watching her own life from the beyond, with all her actions that hurt so many, she herself knows the wrongs she did. As a soul is pure, she now knows the hurt she brought to the world. She sees all those hurt by herself.
So as I forgive her for her trespasses, she may not forgive herself.
Forgiving your enemies is one thing but praying that their souls rest in peace is another. Paraphrasing the Scripture (Heb 9-27), man is appointed once to die then comes the judgement. It is the Lord that makes the final determination if a soul will rest in peace or otherwise and not us because we can’t pray for the final dispensation of the departed. In the end one has to deal with their own evil intents and actions before the Lord and no amount of prayer is going to be heard or influence/override His final decision and the outcome of such.
The person who tells you to love your enemy or pray for your enemy is your enemy.
