There’s just something very sketchy about this public release of information from Judge Merchan in New York City. Merchan doesn’t have an integrity bone and the comment he is bringing attention toward is innocuous and random. However, Merchan could be trying to get Trump to violate the gag order aspect and talk about jurors; thereby making the sentencing worse.
According to information Merchan is providing the lawyers in the Trump case, a comment was made on the court’s FaceBook page indicating one of the jurors said the Trump guilty verdict was predetermined. [SOURCE] “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted. Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!”
Why would Judge Merchan want to draw public attention to this?
Either something bigger is being diluted by this story, or perhaps Merchan is using it as a provocation to get Trump to talk about the jury and violate his gag order ahead of sentencing.
Or, perhaps Merchan is looking to create a mistrial to exit the case, or do it over again and extend the gag order. Also, why not include the entire quote from the Facebook Page:

What IF this was planted to give an excuse to call a mistrial, knowing what a cluster F this was going to be with the public outrage, polls and most importantly the nightmare logistics of how they were to put a Previous US President running for President in jail. It also cleans up the corrupt AG problem , the biased Judge problem, the violation of Trumps due process, the whole Kanga court. A mistrial makes that all go poof! Then Bragg can bellow– “We will pursue justice” We will re-try this case. ( knowing they won’t )
This would be a direct violation of the judge’s jury instructions, though I don’t think those were given out at the time. Based on other case, they’ll probably call the jurors back in and question them. If you remember, something like this happened with Chauvin’s trial, where there was jury misconduct. While it theoretically could result in a mistrial, assuming this is real and any juror involved doesn’t admit anything damaging, they’ll probably just rule that it didn’t affect anything and move on. Then it will come up on appeal and this being the kangaroo courts in NY, nothing will happen. This is probably just a matter of being “thorough” and eliminating it as an appealable issue, since courts aren’t going to inquire into jury deliberations… unless the jury is being racist in the “you can’t be racist against white people” sense of that word, not the normal one.
I wish it were otherwise, and they’re definitely up to no good, but they’re probably just going to ask a couple of questions and take the juror’s word at it even if it’s obvious that they’re lying. “Oh, I didn’t say nothin’, judge. I have no idea why my cousin would say something like that.” And then the judge will throw up his hands and say that they can’t prove anything, so they’re going to stop caring about this now.
I say that because pretty much that kind of thing has played out in the past cases…

Sounds like Merchan is starting to backstroke and already come up with passing blame for his failed show trial on to tainted juriers. Merchan is already with excuses for his scam trial.
Typically, I agree with your point. But this is SO far out of the ordinary that you really have to take a step back far enough to see a LOT of potential reasons.
I’ve long offered the possibility that Merchan may have been a bit of a hostage judge (I don’t “believe” that but I see it as possible) then all of the jury instructions and everything else including this makes sense — intentionally throwing the case while complying with external pressures and demands. Again, I don’t know it and I don’t believe it.
On the other hand, yes, “a do-over” ALSO makes sense. REMEMBER for the left the PROCESS is the punishment as well as the punishment. To rework the process will result in even more of this punishment. So that theory also fits in a way that makes some sort of sense.
And while this situation may end up keeping things in his court the chance for APPEALS, even to SCOTUS, are likely also being THWARTED. I am not a lawyer but if a scenario where “oh this trial may not be right and we have to do it again” might be enough to prevent any sort of appeals process from “undoing this” before the election.
There are countless other ideas as Sundance points out. And with SO many possible causes it’s hard to know precisely what they are up to and what motivates this new reveal. But I think we can ALL agree that this is not to help Trump or to restore justice or the integrity of this court.
This is a GREAT opportunity for people to practice keeping multiple ideas in one’s head without committing any of them to “belief.” This is important because “belief” then justifies emotional response. Emotions drive ALL manner of things we don’t need to talk about. Trump isn’t the ONLY one being punished. A Show trial is about teaching the public who is in power and who is NOT. This is about intimidating and even enraging ALL of us. See not only what you see, but recognize when there are pieces of the puzzle missing and things you think should be but you cannot see. Notice “the dog not barking” is another way to put it.

They adjust their basic plan as needed to stay on track towards their end game. If one pathway towards their end game is denied to them, they choose another path and then see how far they can get with that one.

FTA : I have returned from a two-week tour in Europe, and I can tell you that both the LEFT and RIGHT in European governments are appalled at this trial that Trump has been subjected to especially after I wrote to explain that Juan Manuel Merchan is not an actual judge but is only a prosecutor “ACTING” as a judge. Most curious, since Merchan is NOT a formal judge and is ONLY an acting justice of the New York State Supreme Court in New York County, this raises serious questions given his clear conflicts of interest. How did a former prosecutor become not just an ACTING judge but also be assigned to this case? New York City is a cesspool of corruption dating back to the days when the Mafia installed their judges to rule the city.
This is not just a possible rigged proceeding; it is also UNCONSTITUTIONAL insofar as the alleged crime is a federal crime when this ACTING JUDGE has no subject matter jurisdiction in a state court to preside over a federal crime. Part of the clownish aspect to these trials is intentional because when this is all over TPTB who were really pulling the strings will be able to disassociate themselves from the affair by themselves pointing to these prosecutors and saying, “You were right, they are clowns. Why did they pursue such weak and silly claims?” Alvan Bragg, Judge Merchan, Fani Willis, and Jack Smith are just lured and suckered into the play to take Donald Trump out so he won’t be President. That is all. It will all be blamed on them. Putting Trump in prison for 50 years will only be counter productive to their interests so it is better that he can easily get out on appeal (after he has lost that is). If the verdict is going to be overturned on appeal, most likely with a long list of issues pointing to what pathetic ideologically driven losers you are. What to do?

Moreover, Trump doesn’t have grounds for that dangerous appeal since he technically hasn’t been found guilty, even though all right-thinking people know he is. My take is they really don’t want this to go to appeals because every unconstitutional and bad ruling that this judge made will be out for ALL to see, including headline reading voters who really don’t know what the corrupt judge and prosecutor did in this case.
If all the violations by the court come out in the appeal it would provide a lot of Rico evidence for an election interference case. By declaring a mistrial they avoid the scrutiny of the appeal process and can still keep the case open by declaring a new trial. That is the best the cabal can hope for.

I have always questioned why the judge would knowingly commit reversible error. Toolkit you are spot on, the judge does not want to be reversed on appeal and he most certainly will be reversed on appeal for the jury instructions alone. (imho). Not to mention the apparent conflict of interest that has PDJT gagged. Then there is the bigger issue that lawfare has failed here. The conviction did not hurt PDJT in the polling.

Judge Merchan declares a mistrial before the sentencing date of July 11th and leaves it to Alvin Bragg to decide whether or not to refile charges. Merchan gets kudos from the MSM for being a fair and honest judge. Alvin Bragg waits for two weeks or a month and then refiles the charges. Judge Merchan schedules a new trial for after the July convention. Merchan gets more kudos from the MSM for being diligent in the pursuit of the evil criminal Donald Trump. Merchan then ties up Donald Trump in court for another six to eight weeks of the fall campaign season.
This does not pass the Smell Test.

Trump did not go after all the coup perps last term. Some on the right are saying go easy on the perps. We are better than that. I say F ’em.

The difference that no new attorney general will not have to look for a crime. He could just say we are going after seditionists and we will have to build a new jail as there were hundreds involved in Russia, Russia and we know who they are. That would be an excellent start.
