Professor Alan Dershowitz went to New York City to sit in on the ridiculous trial of President Donald Trump. Apparently, Dershowitz just had to see for himself what he was hearing from others about the insane rantings and rulings of Judge Merchan.
Mr. Dershowitz said he sat in the front row and had a ringside seat to some of the worst judicial conduct he has ever witnessed in a judge.

So, we know what the jury will do and will convict. There have been comments that jury verdicts by themselves are not appealable. He refused to end the trial after the prosecution dropped the case .
It seems to me that it can help former President Trump with the jury’s decision as jury members catch up on news in the next week about the trial on which they serve.
Have to wonder what threat the D party has made to Merchan or his family. I guess he understands that he & his daughter and all other family members will be shunned, if the jury fails to convict.
The decision of the NYC jury isn’t in doubt at this point, because a guilty verdict has been programmed in to the process from the very beginning of this Moscow on the Hudson show trial. The only questions which apply at this point are (1) how long will the trial take to reach the inevitable guilty verdict, and (2) what will the sentence be once the guilty verdict is in.
Most likely the jury will be listening to NPR and watching MSNBC/CNN all weekend.

The death penalty in that statute is ONLY if the resultant infraction is proximate to causing the death of the afflicted party.

The judge agreed with the prosecutor that the jury doesn’t have to unanimously agree what crime elevated the bookkeeping misdemeanors to a felony.
My read is that the judge is in way over his head, and he knows it. He’ll still try to screw PRESIDENT Trump but he knows how history will disrespect him.

I believe the whole thing was a setup, from start to finish. The judge did not want Costello on the stand, or in his courtroom, in the first place. While he was in the courtroom and before his testimony began, the judge called an impromptu break, as if to cool down, and when he came back he was all cool and zen.
I think he made a phone call to his bosses, they told him to shut Costello down every time a question was asked, so he could provoke a reaction and he could stage this high drama to end the day on.
They wanted people to remember THAT, and not what Costello said, plus the paid talking head wh0r3$ could have a field day with the drama and twist it to their hearts content. They would follow their marching orders on narrative as they always do.
And they did. Costello, Bad Man. Don’t believe a word he says.

It wasn’t just Costello’s testimony. It was also likely the defense bringing out that Cohen was a thief who stole from Trump.
I’d guess that the prosecution and Merchan had been coordinating the case, and had planned out how Cohen’s many lies would be handled -Cohen was just a man who lied in desperation to get out of tight spots.
However, it appears that Cohen never told the feds or Bragg about embezzling from Trump. And it wasn’t to pay his bills – it was Cohen’s ego that led to him taking the “bonus” that Cohen thought he “deserved.”
This surprise knocked a hole in the carefully constructed Jenga tower of evidence. Merchan saw the case wobbling, and Costello gave it an extra push.
Costello should have avoided the muttering and eye rolling, but any even-tempered judge would have simply told him that he was a witness in this case and to confine his responses to the questions asked.
