Dramatic footage shows the Francis Scott Key bridge in the Port of Baltimore being hit by a containership that plowed directly into a bridge support. The span is part of I-695 and goes over some of the waterway leading into the Port of Baltimore. The port, officially known as the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore, handles trucks, tractors, trailers and container offloading.
Thankfully the incident happened at 01:30am and traffic across the bridge was light.
(Via MSM) – […] The Singapore-flagged 948 ft. Dali vessel crashed into a column supporting the Francis Scott Key Bridge at around 1:30 a.m. local time in Baltimore, causing part of the bridge to collapse and catch fire before sinking.
At around 1:40 a.m., the Baltimore City Fire Department received an emergency services call to respond to a water rescue in the Patapsco River, according to fire chief Wallace. Several vehicles were on the bridge at the time of impact.
[…] Two people were rescued after a large shipping boat crashed into a bridge in Baltimore, Maryland and caused it to collapse on Tuesday morning, amid fears of a mass casualty event.
James Wallace, chief of Baltimore’s fire department, said in a press conference that “upwards of seven individuals” fell into the water after the Dali shipping container vessel crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge at 1:30 a.m. local time. The director of communications for Baltimore’s fire department, Kevin Cartwright, called it a “developing mass casualty event.” (read more)

This reminds me of the sunshine bridge disaster. Ironically I knew nothing about it, or did not remember it even though it was in the early 80’s. Tampa Bay. A couple of months ago in a random feed searching for something else popped up. I took the time to read it because of my lack of knowledge. When I saw the news this morning, that was the first thing I thought. of.
I just find this pretty hard to believe is random.
Did it clear the bridge, then back up? Looks like it.
DEI is devastating this world.
Something there about maintenance of a foreign vessel in a DEI ridden port city.
Some decades ago, I was once visiting a vessel out of Spore, in there for extensive maintenance the month before. They lost three cat engines at once and the fourth was sputtering for 1-2 hrs more before conking out during some critical operations. We went dark and listing – scary stuff.
Obviously someone(s) had been roaring and wh*ring in port instead of supervising the maintenance crews and I wonder what gratuities were involved with undone or poorly done with so much work.
Looks like a rust bucket!
Captain is Ukrainian.
1 AM, yes, but MAJOR supply chain artery. Hopefully we don’t see another one of these in the near future.

An awful lot happening under the Biden administration! Synchronicity?
controlled demo by Dems and dim wits like under DEI
More information is needed. Will we get it?
No. We never do when something ain’t right.
Yes, but probably not from the MSM – at least not any factual info (about the cause) from legacy corporate media or the “government officials.” They’ll scrub it or simply defer to the “ongoing investigation.”
Watch independent reporting from reliable sources. Sundance will likely report here once he sees a trusted source break any new info.
Here ya go. Not sure what’s been said here, but a very close friend runs a tugboat company in one the nations major harbors. He said the problem is that the environmental controls limit the kind of fuel that ships can use in proximity to land and, as a result, are underpowered. I guess this happened before in NYC, but the ship ran aground and there were no similar consequences.
Lights out before bridge span indicating power loss. Cyber attack?
hall turner report -kat ford ????
Considering the train derailments, cattle slaughters, chemical spills and other attacks on food supply, transport and infrastructure that have occurred over the last few years, and after watching the video, I have to presume this is yet another attack on the USA by the CCP.
I believe the barge was taken control of remotely.
I would have to forget everything I’ve seen the last few years, suspend logic and reason to think this was an accident.
Don’t know for sure of course, but that’s where I’m at these days.
Not CCP. How do u the Walmart logistics works
Yep.
Reminds me of Hag Clinton’s sarcastic rebuttal of David Petraeus’s assessment of the situation in Iraq at the time(2007). Essentially calling him a liar (is That rich?!), she said that believing him required: “the willing suspension of disbelief.”
Everything about this regime requires just that.
I gotta hand it to them, so many creative ways to kill us, if this is true.
“The affirmative action ship captain’s identity will not be revealed because she clearly dindu nuffin.”
once can be sure there were a lot of dindus for maintenance while there
Would be really interesting if the captain’s nationality was Ukrainian.
The CCP doesn’t need to do its own dirty work when they have the OBiden administration doing it for them. I’m sure Baltimore feels so much better knowing that Pete is looking into this… Just like the people in Palestine. When they say that they are sure there is nothing nefarious going on… That pretty much tells you that there is. Control the food supply, and you control the people. A tactic that has been around for centuries.
Not necessarily just the CCP but more likely a collaboration with their many friends in DC.
cyber could have caused the power fail but too many moving environmental and steering decisions for such a precise attack
Don’t jump the gun. The port uses local pilots who know the harbor backward and forward for ships coming in and out. From what I’m learning there was screw ups all around. I wouldn’t want to be the insurer. Thousands of these ships come into the Baltimore Harbor and the bridge is part of 695. That’s like shutting down I95 for weeks and weeks.
Diversity hires?
Didn’t Earn It?
Perfect acronym for DEI!
Saw that yesterday … perfect definition of DEI.
That bridge took 5 years to build, The first time. This is a bigger job.
Years, not weeks.
I tend to agree with you.
This will add to the congestion on the I95 corridor there. But it won’t shut it down or the Port of Baltimore for that matter. I can think of a hundred worse ways to execute a ‘black swan’ than this one.
It’s a gigantic tragedy. I think we’re going to find it very Boeing-like. The end result of an organization that has woked itself into a disaster causing a tremendous loss of life.
Go look at the social media posts for the company that operated that ship. WOKE over competency.
Foreign outsourcing on a grand scale.
To your point … “… the port uses local pilots who know the harbor backward and forward for ships coming in and out …” … is exactly why this stunning accident is suspicious !!
Didn’t see escort boats around it.
Exactly … where were they??
Pilots don’t maintain engines and electrical …
Exactly … where were they ??
Bottom line … this was NOT open water … this was in a tight municipal space – with bridges … and … ZERO tug-boats … why ??
estimate 4-5 years
We cruised out of this port back in 19. Back then there was talk about this bridge being too low to accommodate the newer classes of cruise ships; only the older and smaller ships could clear it. I believe we were on grandeur of the seas, and I remember the next port was Charleston? Oh, been a while. But, that ships relative size compared to the new 5000 passenger monsters makes the point.
…another Big Dig coming soon?
That’s a good point, but this particular ship hit the pillar itself dead-on.
Cargo ship. Looked ok until just before bridge when we see it turn toward bridge support.
The original casino plan included big cruise ships docking.
Hmmm.
Need a bigger, better bridge for critical hazardous materials.
like EVs…
PDJT has not been blamed YET?
Oh he has. I’ve seen someone who claims his “relaxation of safety standards” caused this. I’d like to know if losing power had anything to do with green energy initiatives.
Well now…this certainly takes the heat off of Boeing and the airline industry now, doesn’t it?
I don’t have the link but somewhere I read a headline that implied this ship has a problematic safety record.
Sad Event
Very Funny Post
I am sure that OBiden/DOJ will get around to blaming it on him or one of his sons soon. Just like the cocaine in the White House.
The top video shows the ship turning into or toward the support just prior to impact.
It was steered into that support. This was an intentional act.
It DID steer into the bridge.
But as the video showed, ALL power on the ship went out about 30 secs prior. That means that control of the rudder AND the engines was lost.
It is a lot more likely that this ship, literally, became RUDDERLESS the instant power was lost, and the change in direction was because of THAT.
Rudderless ships tend to go mostly straight. Simple physics
Not necessarily, the rudder could have been slightly off center when power went off, just from the normal back and forth of steering the ship down the channel. Also, windy.com shows the wind to be 6 knots from the NE at that time. If true, the wind would be hitting the port side and also acted to turn the ship to starboard. These things have A LOT of windage. Currents could have been another factor, but I’m not familiar with the area to speculate on that.
When the single propeller turned “against the direction” to slow the ship down, some torque was created, which accounts for the ship veering.
A helicopter with only a single prop on top will turn and turn against the direction of the top prop. . It’s physics. A 2nd prop on the tail fights against the torque and stabilizes the helo. Ships don’t have that.
Dumb ass captain. Can’t wait to see who that was. Should have just let the ship keep going. No doubt before the power went off it was heading in a straight out of the harbor path.
Or the saboteurs cut power, then restored it with THEM in control of the barge, and then steered it into the bridge.
the ship’s electrical power was lost, was rebooted, then lost power again. Unable to steer.
do more research.
Something caused the rudder to go hard over. This was not a simple power loss.
The ship appeared to turn toward the bridge’s support.
Ship lost power twice for several seconds each time.
Itchy fingers on a light switch????
A ship that size takes a long long time to turn.
Apparently there were no cars on the bridge and traffic did get stopped. But I wonder why all of the construction workers weren’t able to get off in time. They must have seen the barge coming and I am sure there was some kind of honking going on.
The whole time I was growing up in the Canal Zone…there was never an accident at The Bridge of the Americas…the man made bridge that joins the Northern American continent and the Southern American continent.
There was one event with loss of life and it involved explosives prior to where a pre planned dredging, in the canal, event was to occur.

poor maintenance
I continue to ask, for those who are determined not to wake up, how exactly would our country look different if our government had been quietly taken over by a foreign power that hates us?
BOOM! Thats EXACTLY the question I have been asking for the past several months now!
If a foreign power wanted to take over a country “without firing a shot”, what would they do? How would it look?
Its like a Jeopardy “question”:

bad maintenance is my guess.
Figure a ship is designed and built well enough to NOT glitch out without a lot of missed maintenance opportunities.

Ships are not required to have tugboat escort under the bridge, The cargo ship did have an earlier tug escort as noted in this above link.
You mention words near and dear to my heart….dredge, tug, and cargo ship…
Looking at the map of the vessel’s approach as shown in the article….it looks pretty fool proof, straightforward?.
As far as shipping…and vessels…maybe bigger is not better.
Hazards analysis should have caught this scenario decades ago, or probably did, and all the politicians including Nancy Pelosi’s dad, shrugged and sliced the swag.
This same thing happened in Muskogee OK with a barge several years back.
One would think that engineers would construct large deflection bases to deter such events. Wouldn’t be hard at all.
This is it in a nutshell. Plain and simple.
Look at major ports where several bridge undercrossings exist. If a large vessel were to hit these barriers, the bridge while possibly still structurally damaged would not crumble like unglued matchsticks.
The stock market is trying to recover from its Friday and Monday’s 500 point drop. This is a normal expectation.
Manipulators do some buying and test if there is investor stock market buyer follow through. Market gets over sold just as it gets over bought and takes time to digest.
The longer term remains Bearish since Fridays longer term sell signal. At any rate, I have a breakeven stop in place since Friday’s sell signal. If my stop in not violated, I will wait for the next buy signal. Which I never know “when”, but will know “where”.
Would you expect this kind of event to dampen trading?
I really don’t know one way or other. I do know I posted in the wrong thread.
ALEX is down ten cents a share…MATX down $1.05 per share….
Bet on unqualified crew and officers, incompetent maintenance, all exacerbated by language barriers and lack of responsibile management by vessel owner/operator. Maybe insufficient tug availability too.
Ain’t global diversity grand?
Watch the support structure in the first video at the :45 second mark. What do you see? Anything unusual?
Found in the bin… 🙁

Black cloud explodes UPWARD. From the middle of the pillars, it appears, though it is difficult to see what is in front of what.
Again, rigged to blow?
Collision just a cover?
Completely controlled territory. From Mayor to Governor to Transportation Secretary. No worries about truth accidentally coming to light, when you control the “investigation. ”
Everyone involved gets a piece of the new construction money, the bigger casino money, and CCP interests move in to control the port?
Cui bono?
That’s from the ship’s engine exhaust. Huge diesel engine under heavy load in full reverse. I saw it from a different angle and it belched black smoke twice, each time just after the ship’s lights came back on.
With the power going out, the ship’s engines would throttle down towards idle as the signal to them stops. Power back on, and those engines suddenly get the signal they had at first and so crank up. I don’t think that is odd.
Exactly right.
I suspect that what you see exploding upward is the ship hull striking the foundation that the pier is setting on.
Cleanup from this is going to be long and slow. Anyone rememeber the game “pick up sticks”? Removing those twisted girders will be tricky. Move or cut the wrong one, and everything shifts. And while in deep water too.
I saw some flames on another video (the one Sundance posted), off to the far right and the camera panned away very quickly, will check again…
Yes, flames at the top of a pier. It could have been a fuel truck crossing at that point and exploding as the tank ruptures, or the fuel tank of a piece of machinery…construction crews were working at the time.
People, all the things noted in the videos could be nefarious actors causing chaos; but it also could be the natural reaction of things as a massive bridge is twisted apart and collapses…not something we normally see, thank God.
no coincidence.
Cui bono?
P diddler?
From the mission statement of the Company which owns the cargo ship…
“Diversity, equity, and inclusion ((DEI) are made integral to the People strategy at Synergy Marine Group, very simply because this is the right thing to do, and it resonate s with the ethos of the organisation in building a collaborative work environment.”
Okay, so they’ve got their priorities right then…

DEI….this from their website:

The language of “wokeism”… A fatal disease for so many.
We’ve driven that bridge on many occasions. It’s one of the alternate routes for the I95 corridor around Baltimore. Frightful how fast it came down. That ship was loaded to the stacks with containers. And it looks like a major systems power failure.
Traffic on the bridge should have been light around that hour. But that is little consolation for those on it, and their families, when it collapsed. Unfortunately, there also appears to have been a maintenance/construction crew working on it.
Looking at the social media postings for the company operating that ship, they seem more interested in woke diversity than is avoiding inspection deficiencies. Diversity = incompetence. And that ship had a past history of incidents.
First blush, I don’t think this is a ‘black swan’ or orchestrated catastrophe. It looks more like the result of the woke virus that is destroying competency and care throughout the West. Just like at Boeing and a thousand other functionally broken, stupidly woke, companies.
Yes
catastrophic incidents usually have a lot of warnings and precursors
The port of Savannah better employ harbor pilots for container ships starting today.
CCP owned cut out operates Savannah port, I believe.
In such narrow waterways, where are the tugboats? too sorta push those heavy cargo ships around? In such narrow waters what was the speed of the sheep? WHY does it appear the ship TURNED directly into the support on the bridge? There was no wind, water is smooth. (old sailor). All ships have back generators. They are at ready always…why weren’t they back generators activitated? Generators should have been functioning in redundant fashion. This sop. Was there a security check of the systems BEFORE departure? Who was the PILOT? In such tight water, there is always a well experienced PILOT to navigate the waters. WHY does the ship appear to turn directly into to the support? Who hacked the computer systems on board. Is there no manual switch for such issues…like in plane cockpits? Is there a black box? How many rules were not adhered to? There is so many questions…no way the fbi knows there is no terrorism.
There is a video circulating of on-bridge surveillance. MSM is reporting that it’s an old video of a terror attack on Crimea bridge.
So, how is the port of Baltimore affected while this mess is rectified? Think strategically.
Rest in peace to any deceased. That was a long ride down. 🙁
Is Lactating Pete on site yet?
Has anyone else noticed how the ship went to full power before turning into the bridge? Maybe I missed the comments and maybe it was trying to reverse .
You can tell by the coal black smoke that billows just before impact
They tried to put it in reverse.
Yes, marinetraffic shows the ship’s speed dropped from about 8.7 knots to maybe 7.5 knots by the time of impact, so engine was likely full astern. They apparently also dropped at least one anchor which might have slowed it a bit more, depending when it was dropped.
Has it been determined to be President Trump’s fault yet?
This is prophetic. Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner. God moves in mysterious ways if you dont understand prophecy. This bridge collapsing is a prophecying the collapse of our nation.
Container ship.

🤔🤔
The ‘Francis Scott Key’ bridge destroyed. If you wanted to send the American people a message, what would this be telling them 13 days before an eclipse of the sun by the moon? An eclipse whose total eclipse track is from Mexico to Nova Scotia, passing over seven towns by the name of Nineveh, that was destroyed after a period of repentance towards God after Jonah’s warning saw its’ return to turning their backs on him. Well turned out another total eclipse of the sun tracked across the entire U.S. in 2017 when there seemed to be a reprieve under President Trump.
Where the two eclipse tracks intersect is a place called the ‘Trail of Tears National Park’, Illinois. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 being the cause of that upheaval of a nation of people being replaced by others deemed more desirable to Columbia’s feral district. Fast forward now 200 years to 2030 when the target date for the United Nations Agenda 2030 is reached. Formerly Agenda 21, the agenda for the 21st Century is focused on depopulating the planet of around seven billion people.
So if you were to warn the American people with events that might outline what’s about to happen to them, this would be but another omen to what they might expect. Oh wait, no. These were all just coinkydink happenstances. Never mind. Never mind. Now move along. Move along.
So here is a play by play from a professional in the shipping/tug field
That was an excellent quick reaction explanation of what likely happened. Thank you for posting it!
Thanks hopper, cargo is my thing…lol…
hey all, just click on the big white space to see the 6 min video…

Much obliged for the information – one of the reasons I love CTH 🙂 To my untrained eye this looks like an electrical failure due to at least one obvious blackout.
I don’t know anything about ships or sailing so got to looking around for information and came across this:
-snip-
Human Error: Operational mistakes and a lack of proper training can lead to propulsion loss. Crew training should include familiarization with engine room systems, emergency procedures, and changeover processes. Crews should also be trained to manually operate load share and manage generators effectively.
Electrical and Control System Failures: Blackouts and failures in control equipment can cause propulsion loss. Load-shedding arrangements should be in place to protect generators against overload. Ensuring the correct maintenance of electrical systems, including Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) and generators, is essential.
Propulsion Loss on the Ships: Understanding Causes, Consequences, and Countermeasures – Maritime Education (maritimeducation.com)
Whether accident or not it shows a significant weakness in our society. The economic system is very complex and fragile.
A shockingly few motivated people with modest resources and a few connections could bring this country to its knees in a short period of time.
Our betters should consider this as hundreds of thousands of aliens cross the border unmolested every month.
I think that the last time this harbor was closed was when the ship merchants of Baltimore scuttled their own vessels across the mouth of the harbor to prevent the British from landing in the city. Instead they bombarded Fort McHenry and Francis Scott Key wrote what he saw that night, giving us our National Anthem. The British landed troops far from the city and were marching inland when a sniper took out their commander, a man akin to the status of our General McArthur. This event put a real damper in the British intentions to take back America in the War of 1812. The repercussions of this event last night have yet to be felt.
What am I missing here, the first video shows the ship turning into the pylon!?!
That vessel had to have been under the command of a U.S. pilot….yes?
State pilot. Yes. But the captain always has the option to take command away from the pilots.
I don’t think there was enough time here.
the governor touting what they are going to about this bridge and the city behind him is a scene out of mad max.
Awful. Awful. Awful. Prayers for all those affected by the horrific loss of life.
In 2023, we had a section of I-95 collapse here in Philadelphia. I can’t shake the feeling that our infrastructure is collapsing, if not under direct attack.
Next week, I was going to take my son down to visit Catholic U, where I’d been hoping he’d attend due to its general lack of wokeness. But now I’m not sure what to hope.
Apparently, Baltimore is one of the main ports for cars, including Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen. Unclear what else will be affected in the supply chain.
So let’s say this was a complete coincidence, and it’s also coincidental that we have great video of the horrible tragedy, video which would be the signature scene in a disaster movie.
How nice for Maryland that this will distract from recent news about election crime. https://joehoft.com/huge-united-sovereign-americans-joins-maryland-lawsuit-against-maryland-state-board-of-elections/

Maybe there are other things going on in Maryland too that we’re being asked not to pay attention to?
NYT described it as ‘a partial bridge collapse’
Mu sister who lives in MD, said the bridge was closed for pothole repairs. Workers were rescued and some still missing.
you can see vehicles crossing the bridge until about 20-30 seconds before impact
the workers probably had A LANE OR TWO CLOSED but it’s apparent the entire bridge wasn’t closed

Fantastic list! Can we throw ship ownership in there, too (with what goes in and out of the port)? Seems to be a lot of variance between the flag a ship sails under, the crew, management of the ship, and ownership.
This footage you can see when the ship looses power @ approximately 3 minutes in
Almost appears Dali rode over the port anchor chain. If so, that would have jerked her to starboard and essentially pivoted the ship into the bridge support. Gonna have to wait for the full investigation, but such a thing is possible.
