Dramatic footage shows the Francis Scott Key bridge in the Port of Baltimore being hit by a containership that plowed directly into a bridge support. The span is part of I-695 and goes over some of the waterway leading into the Port of Baltimore. The port, officially known as the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore, handles trucks, tractors, trailers and container offloading.
Thankfully the incident happened at 01:30am and traffic across the bridge was light.

2 American local pilots who were experienced in the port waters, Were aboard and in command of steering the ship out of port at 8 knots. Pilots must be used in most all ports because they know the local waters.
An American pilot issued the mayday closing the bridge to traffic when the ship lost all power as it approached the bridge. Which is credited with saving many lives.
Then Issued the command to drop anchor, and tried to steer the ship to avoid hitting the bridge.
This was a massive mechanical error. With the ship loosing all power and control. The Ukrainian captain had nothing to do with it. He was not even in command of the ship while still in port waters.

The radicals have a saying “Never let a good crisis go to waste” It’s based upon Saul Alinsky’s rules page 89. It was not terrorist attack as the potential death tool was too low, anchors were dropped and hard rutter left was too late. The captain was Ukrainian, 90% of all ships are foreign; thus the need for US Pilots and US Flags (Jones Act). Really, then how do you explain that (1) both the main and backup power systems went down, (2) the ship was traveling outside the normal travel area from the git go, and (3) dropping the anchor did not stop the ship.
1- Mechanical Failure at the MSB (main switchboard) 2- LOP (Loss of electric power) = loss of navigation renders vessel DIW (dead in water). 3- Boats don’t have breaks – Dropping anchor is not breaking – the pilot dropped the port anchor hoping to grab the fluke and avoid a direct collision with the bridge pylon.

And why is the federal govt paying for the bridge? The container ship company should pay for it?
