Thought you would like a ground report on 2 veterans. My husband and I have finally accomplished getting all of our specialist appointments moved from the Memphis VA hospital to Community Care much closer to our home. As we have gotten older that 4 hours on the road going to and from Memphis has gotten harder. Now it’s down to an hour round trip.
Over the past few years the Memphis ancillary staff has become cranky. Receptionists acting like they are bothered by checking patients in and out. Lots of sour faces. I complained to my primary care about them not answering the clinic phone . I was told she knows and it’s an ongoing problem.
Memphis VA is a teaching hospital so the majority of the specialists we’ve seen there are Residents who we’ve found are much more thorough in their examinations. Being in Community Care we see board certified physicians and nurse practitioners who are excellent.
May I repeat…. It was NOT an insurrection! (I just needed to repeat that – whew).

Several months ago I had a problem similar to what you are describing. The site would constantly reload. I would be writing one of my highly important messages and it would hang up and then reload. Very frustrating.
So I switched to the Brave browser and haven’t had a problem since. Hope this helps.

If you know the truth about Srebrenica, you could very well fit that scenario to what is going to happen here in the future. Every single state has their own election laws that REQUIRE a candidate to have filed, paid the fees, and acquired the necessary signatures before they can run as a presidential candidate in that state. There are only 6 states and DC left whose filing dates haven’t already passed.
People say “oh they’ll just change the laws in the 44 states whose final filing dates have already passed”. Well, there are laws preventing that as well. Most states say any changes made to the election laws must be completed before the state begins accepting applications from potential candidates. In fact, many states say new election laws passed will not take effect until the following election cycle. So, change them in 2024, they won’t take effect until 2028.
DNC rules do not overrule state election laws. If a candidate didn’t file within the prescribed time by state law he won’t be on the ballot. The only person who can take Biden’s place will be Harris, since she is already on the states’ ballots.
There are blue states that are controlled wholly or partially by Republican legislatures that won’t allow their election laws to be changed or violated, so Newsom or anyone else is not going to get on those states’ ballots. And Trump has the power of the people behind him this time to stop rogue judges and can press for injunctions all the way to the SCOTUS. He will have standing.
It’s not too late. The convention of each political party is designed to ensure that whomever is nominated by that convention will be able to be on the ballot in all states. Otherwise there would be need for a nominating convention. The past conventions have nominated surprise candidates and this year might be one of those.

Here is a list from the FEC for filing dates to run for president. Notice that there is a separate listing for Independent candidates. Even Independent candidates have most of the state deadlines before the end of the Democrat convention on August 22. So why would Democrats be allowed to place a candidate on the ballot who did not already file and meet the specific state requirements and filing deadline in the primary?
Republicans would be smart to start highlighting this issue now well in advance of the Democrat convention and stop this latest Torricelli attempt by the Democrats.

Also, why should there be state filing deadlines for Independents to be on the general, but none for Republican and Democrat candidates? Because the state primaries, with their filing requirements, are meant to dictate for the Republican and Democrat parties as to who can be on the state ballot, and that means the general as well. Just find it hard to believe Kemp’s job approval is 52%. He has done absolutely zero IMO to get to the bottom of all the evidence of corruption in the 2020 election. What about the RED Cross. WE should stop donating to the Red Cross. There are other charitable institutions who give emergency aid. Give to them, NOT THE RED CROSS.
Red Cross has been a scam operation for many years now allover the world .. especially in poor countries .. Philippines notably. I know of many Filipinos who personally experienced horrendous problems trying to get help Red Cross was supposed to give. Some people died because of being asked to pay for blood transfusions for their sick ones.

I had a friend that went to work at the local Red Cross.. just doing book work.
She quit fairly soon and said she wanted no part of the place.
I didn’t ask any questions because she had that look on her face- like don’t go there.

My Filipino sister-in-law who’s half Chinese, was told blood transfusion supply was no more available at the hospital for her aging mother. They were told by the hospital that Red Cross say they must pay. What a shock. Luckily a bunch of relative had similar blood type rushed to hospital and donated just enough blood that was needed, not trusting the hospital either.
Hospitals have long since become vulnerable to thefts of very expensive products – all staff from the top down. It takes only one to do a lot of damage. To get away with theft is usually accomplished when there is a cohort up to a small invisible gang doing the deed. The person administering intravenous drugs is usually accompanied by another staff member. It is not always true that the other member is in cohort. Those who steal do so with a bag of tricky manoevers.
Any delay when a staff member is supposed to collect prescribed drugs to the patient is suspect.

My mom also disliked the Red Cross, especially when they would beg for money. She commented here and there that my dad/the enlisted’s had to pay 10 cents for coffee when the Red cross had a coffee stand when he was Korea.
Being a kid it never sunk in.. I would think ‘gee, mom, 10 cents,, big deal’ … these days I understand where she was coming from!!
A man in our small community where I grew up hated the red cross with a passion.
He said when they came out of the jungles in the Philippines in WWII the Salvation Army was passing out cigarettes and things on one side of the street and the red cross was selling them on the other side.

Dad was in a number of units, he’d learned how to cut his own orders on the command tent typewriter, always looking for a safer unit
My brother sent me this account, I’m sure other G.I.s have similar stories
He was assigned to the infantry and sent to North Africa where he saw action in Tunisia and Morocco. He quickly decided that the infantry was a bad proposition and line divisions stayed in combat for months at a time.
He noticed that the Airborne units did not do much fighting and were quickly pulled back to hold in reserve, sending time in large towns with the ladies while the line units fought it out with the Germans. What he didn’t realize was that generals always kept their best units in reserve to throw them in in an emergency at a critical point in a battle. In World War II the American Airborne units were the elite. When they fought it would be at critical points.
Anyway, he decided to volunteer for airborne training and told them he had been a physican’s assistant before the war. So they sent him to England and made him a medic. What he did not realize was that a medic had to rescue the wounded, essentially his life expectancy was dictated by the stupidest man in the unit who was usually wounded first. Dad was sent to the 82nd Airborne Division in England.
When the Normandy Invasion was imminent he found out that his Division was expected to take 80% casualties. They had more medics than TO&E in the 82nd and so asked for volunteers to be detached temporarily to the 1st Infantry Division, his old outfit. So he volunteered and finagled his way into it.
This didn’t work out so well, he was in the third wave at Omaha Beach where most of his unit was killed. He and I walked where he landed and he showed me where he crawled from body to body binding wounds or pulling them to cover for eight hours, never leaving the beach area. In the movie Saving Private Ryan the initial beach scene shows a corpsman at work, Dad’s experience would have been much like that. Somehow he got through that without a scratch, amazing.
He stayed with the 1st ID until the breakout from Normandy in August when he sneaked into the Battalion personnel tent and cut himself orders assigning himself back to the 82nd Airborne Division.
He then took a few guys, stole a truck full of rations, and headed off to the French city of Rennes for a stress break. He went AWOL for a couple weeks trading food for wine and a place to stay at a tavern in the city. He was finally rounded up by the MPs and sent packing to the 82nd. A lot of guys were wigging out periodically and there seemed to be little opprobrium attached. The 82nd was in reserve outside of Paris.
At some point he was promoted to Sergeant and put in charge of a platoon. When the Germans launched a massive counteroffensive in the Ardennes in December 1944 the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne were sent to the northern and southern flanks of the breakthrough respectively. In the south, the 101st Airborne was surrounded at Bastogne and fought ferociously for a week against several German decisions before Patton broke through to relieve the siege.
SS General Joachim Peiper broke through the American lines in the north and his tanks raced west as the 82nd came from that direction to stop him. During the breakthrough Peiper’s unit took a unit of Americans prisoner and massacred them at a crossroads named Malmedy. So many American units determined not to take SS prisoners. Also Peiper’s SS usually did not take Airborne soldiers prisoners, there was a lot of bad blood between the SS and the 82nd Airborne.
Dad’s unit was ordered to attack part of Peiper’s force at night near the town of Chennes in Belgium. It was a dark night in a heavy wood and his battalion and an SS panzergrenadier unit fought it out at close range for most of the night. Neither side took prisoners, and the fighting was very close. Several men were killed with shovels and axes. It was here Dad used the butt of his carbine to kill a German. That’s how the teeth marks got on the butt.
When it was over both battalions had literally destroyed the other, hundreds lay dead and wounded, some right beside each other. Dad and I walked the ground, and to this day those woods are full of abandoned pieces of equipment left over from the battle. That was the only time other than Omaha Beach that he got emotional. His entire platoon was destroyed, only he and two other men were left unkilled or unwounded. A couple of days later he was wounded in the knee by a German 88 artillery round. Taking advantage of the time the 82nd’s stand brought them, several American divisions surrounded and slowly crushed Piper’s SS troopers, wiping out the entire unit.
After the Ardennes he told personnel he had a year of college and they assigned him to a medical unit’s personnel office. I think he lied about that, but he had already forged orders a couple of times so they thought he would probably do a pretty good job. He stayed there for the rest of the war and his description of the advance through Germany is rather like one extended drunken party. He had finally hit on the winning combination of job to stay alive.
Basically, he was a young kid who tried to game the system in order to stay alive. Really remarkable, while many calmly accepted fate’s cards dear old Dad was constantly maneuvering for a better deal.
I think in the confusion of the advance across France, there were a lot of unaccounted-for soldiers and no one got very concerned about it. My dad got wounded and spent some time in the hospital, then he said he spent 6 weeks hitching rides to places where his unit had been, only to find that they’d moved on somewhere else.
