Catherine Herridge has been released from employment with CBS as a round of job terminations and cost cutting initiatives have been triggered.
Many people liked Herridge and she seemed to do a better job than normal given her position(s) inside the machinery. However, I lost most of my respect for Herridge approximately 4 years ago, and eventually just considered her a great pretender amid a multitude of big pretenders.

It’s such a weird experience (cable news, too) when I happen across a network or cable news program. Usually at the airport.
When you don’t watch it for years, then pay attention for 10 minutes, you realize how plastic, stupid, and overwrought the whole charade is.

I worked as a videographer for a local news station about three decades ago, so I had an inside view of just how artificial the whole construct really is. I was never able to watch any TV news program after I moved on to other careers.

Just search on “Herridge” in the CTH search block and you will find that Sundance has – more than once – sourced CBS reports that he used in articles to her. She once was fairly good – more objective than most- back at Fox News but then switched to CBS and it became evident that she was simply reporting what her bosses allowed her to report – the “approved narratives.”
And of course Sundance nailed it with the “Elf on the Shelf” thread during Christmas!
Didn’t Sharyl Attkisson run into the same thing with CBS? She said she would do these investigative pieces, but if they didn’t fit the approved narrative — like uncovering something negative about Obama — she would submit it, but it wouldn’t be aired.
I don’t recall her troubles with CBS, but Sheryl Atkisson did become well known for having the government hack into her computers and delete files back about 10 or 12 years ago.
Just reading the opening five short paragraphs of this article will raise the hair on the back of your neck, imagining how utterly violated and helpless she must have felt to have been targeted by criminals in the government DOJ / FBI who were hell bent on stopping her from doing her excellent investigative reporting.

Working for cbs so I don’t see where it makes any difference to the general public. I don’t know who she is or was. It’s been a long long time since I watched anything on cbs, I think the last I watched was NCIS season 8.

As an aside, me and the folks have been watching all of CBS’ Blue Bloods, because we wanted more Tom Selleck after watching all the Jesse Stone movies… One episode per night during dinner. It occurred to me midway through Season 11 of 13 we bought on DVD, that we’re witnessing a highly compressed version of a very slow bait and switch, as the show’s writing evolves from nearly right-wing, pro police, pro Christ… to the expected left-wing Message and manufactured consent propaganda it has become in Season 11. (Don’t spoil me, we have 2 1/2 seasons to go, and at this point Dad and I are determined to see it through, if for mostly academic reasons, and because Tom Selleck.)
What occurred to me is that the gradual nature of the change in writing was probably planned in advance, because these showrunners are nothing if not excellent at being devious, long-term planners. Hook the right with their own values and gradually, (progressively, even), almost subliminally change the “moral of the story” to reflect more and more of the left-wing creeds, and less and less of the views the show began with.
I do believe that this was the plan, and it is much more discernable when watching 13 years worth of show in just a few short months.
So did they add some gay married couples? Or some transgenders? Evil Christians being bigots? Maybe some poor illegal immigrants (oh sorry, undocumented Americans). Seems to be all the rage amongst the left.
