I’m not sure what provoked Tucker Carlson to actually follow through on this plan; I know he was deeply worried about being arrested in Russia. However, Carlson did something every U.S. journalist should do, even though they are forbidden by the State Dept from doing it.
The reason the U.S. Government doesn’t want people traveling into Russia, is specifically because people will tell the experience of their time in Russia, and that will run completely counter to the acceptable narrative. Having listened to a number of Putin’s speeches and interviews in Russia, I think that westerners will be somewhat surprised at his intelligence, insight and political views. The idea of ‘KGB thug’, ‘murderer’, etc., does not really align with the Putin politician, who is a lawyer, moderate, initially interested in partnering with the west, and perhaps the main figure who has pulled Russia out of economic and political despair, to form the country that it is today.
The thought did cross my mind that evil, demented, vile, vindictive Joe Biden would try to convince Putin to have Tucker arrested. Joe doesn’t want any more truth coming out to the American people from Tucker.

This is confirmation that anything you read on the Internet, including being quoted in this thread, published earlier than that which purported to be a transcript of the event was not. It was fiction.
