Exactly how bad is the “bipartisan” legislation, which should be called, ‘the border insecurity in exchange for Ukraine money act’? The bill is so bad, and makes things so much worse, that James Lankford may end up voting against his own legislative creation.

Inside the room, McConnell told Republicans that if they didn’t like the direction that the bill is going, they should vote against moving forward this week, according to two people briefed on the meeting who were granted anonymity to speak candidly.
According to two attendees, McConnell did not forcefully whip for or against the bill. He instead discussed the specific policies and politics of the legislation, which is opposed by Speaker Mike Johnson and former President Donald Trump.
Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), who struck the deal, even suggested he might vote against moving forward if his colleagues weren’t ready to move.“That’s not voting against the bill,” Lankford said of voting to filibuster the bill from coming to the floor. “So that’s not the final passage. This bill is worse bigger than all that, It Re Authorized Bretton Woods until Dec 31 2030, instead of Dec 31 2025 when Trump would probably end it and put in an America First International economic system.
For those that don’t know, Bretton woods was a cold war policy to allow other countries to borrow from the Us in exchange for trading in US dollars, and the subtext was that they would stand with us against the commies.
Trump plans to put reciprocal trade tariffs in and end the subsidizing of Europe and the rest of the world.
This whole thing was theater. McConnell wanted to give Biden a response to the border issue. Polls show him not doing well on the open border and it’s a big concern of voters. Biden can now say that he had legislation that would have sealed the border but republicans killed it. Independents and moderates who don’t pay close attention will buy it. Absolutely disgusting that Senate GOP leadership is flagrantly trying to assist the Biden presidential campaign. I bet that’s why Mike Lee reacted the way he did. Lankford is even saying this outright on talk shows, carrying on about how Biden now has this great campaign issue. Yeah, because you gave it to him, jerk.
The senate is worthless! McConnell is worthless! Repeal the 17th Amendment to the Constitution.

I am from Oklahoma. Lankford is not in my district and always knew he was sleezy. During the election Jackson Laymeyer, a real Conservative, ran against him and lost. All the Baptists voted for Lankford. Wonder how they feel now?
