Justin from Canada and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, used the invocation of the Canadian Emergency Powers Act to seize Truckers’ and their supporters bank accounts, block mortgages, eliminate loans and credit cards, seize personal assets and otherwise use financial mechanisms to target their political opposition.
Yesterday a federal judge in Canada ruled the use of the Emergency Powers Act was unconstitutional.
CANADA – […] On Feb. 14, 2022, the federal government invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time in its history, arguing at the time that the national security risks stemming from the protests justified its use.
The move allowed the federal government to enact wide-sweeping but temporary powers to help officials crack down on protesters’ access to funds, grant the RCMP jurisdiction to enforce local laws, designate critical infrastructure and services, and impose fines and imprisonment on participants who refused to leave the protest zone.
“I have concluded that the decision to issue the Proclamation does not bear the hallmarks of reasonableness – justification, transparency and intelligibility – and was not justified in relation to the relevant factual and legal constraints that were required to be taken into consideration,” stated Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley.
Mosley added that “there can be only one reasonable interpretation” of the Emergencies Act and CSIS Act, and that he believes “the legal constraints on the discretion of the GIC to declare a public order emergency were not satisfied.”
Mosley also stated that, factoring for the definition of a “national emergency” under the Act, “there was no national emergency” to justify its use, and that “the decision to do so was therefore unreasonable” and beyond the powers of the law. (read more)

The real question is whether those whose lives, savings, livelihoods, etc were interrupted and destroyed will be able to receive any sort of restitution.
Our government has already said they will appeal the decision to the Federal Court of Appeal, from which it will not doubt go the Supreme Court. Our judiciary is largely liberal in their views, so I’m afraid this is only a temporary victory, and that ultimately it will be over turned at one of the higher courts. I’d love to be wrong but the judicial record up here is not favourable to freedom and the Constitution.

I loved the honking! I loved watching the people gushing over the Truckers, I loved the Truckers being overwhelmed by so much love. I loved how hardcore those people were for being out in the frigid cold day after day, night after night. I loved how they rallied and organized at amazing speed when no one really knew what was going on, people pulling together. And it was interesting and maddening to watch the gov’t be assholes. A highlight for us occurred the day before Trudeau’s fascist crackdown.
A few dozen of us attendees of the thousands in attendance at the Truck crossing at Surrey B.C. and Blaine Washington.
Decided we would wander down to actual border barricades for a stroll.
A wonderful scene evolved a group of maybe 8-12 Americans approached us from the U.S. side.
They were all smiles, and congratulating us on our endeavour.
They brought coffee and pastries too.

Regarding Freeland, it’s rumoured her odd tics and mannerisms are the result of drug use of some unspecified type. A former employee, now friend, has a seemingly unerring ability to detect drug use in people he meets, works with, and even from video clips. He got in deep into the music industry drug and alcohol scene as a young man but turned his life around at AA. Takes one to know one kind of thing. I used to doubt his casual identifications until later on, sometimes years later, his instincts were proven correct with public disclosures of drug and alcohol dependencies.

A 9th Circuit panel provided a minor victory for the 4th this week in the Beverly Hills private box seizure case.
I would expect the government to petition for en banc if that option exists. The panel judges were conservative IIRC.
The people who were “injured” in legal terms should have a way to create a class action lawsuit against the Canadian government. My hunch is that the swamp watched and learned lessons from the Canadian protest and that the FTA will have regulations requiring trucking companies to have a kill switch that can be activated via satellite and that the FDA will have the same for tractors and farm equipment. If I remember correctly the Windsor bridge blockade was already resolved by the time Emergencies Act was invoked.
Plus as the judge ruled there was never a “national Canada wide emergency”, even with the Windsor bridge blockade.
Also if I remember the emergencies act target was mainly the downtown Ottawa protest, which was peaceful (bouncy castles hangout) The Couts, Alberta blockade was resolved with normal measures and RCMP. No special powers were necessary to my recollection.

A 25% DECREASE ‘across the board’ in “consumable goods” (grocery store items) purchased for say 2 weeks would create such a glut of product with no place to put it, that prices would go down, just to move product.

Oh, the NATO idea might have something to do with certain UN marked jets undergoing reconditioning at a facility hours away, many mistook those for active flights.

I live in the little city that had those UN Planes you speak of Maquis. I live 5 minutes away from them. I posted about them at the time, right here, and at CFP and other places.
Those planes have been parked there for years. In fact, 2 of them are still there. Voyageur Aerotech has a contract to re-do them inside and out. That was a rumor going around when the crackdown started. Those planes didnt move and had not moved. I literally paved the 10,000 foot runway the summer before the protests, right on the property where those aircraft were. 1 came out of the hangar about mid August, it was done and ready to go.
The other 2 that were outside never moved 1 inch. The 3rd that was there in early July was moved in for its renewal in late August.

My comments can be followed up on, by searching Voyageur, and I have pictures of the resurfaced runway, in Sept of that year. In the back ground, 2 of those planes can be clearly seen.
The live streams showed buses of police from other areas and unidentified security forces. I personally didn’t see any blue helmets but that’s a euphemism. They could’ve been disguised.
I seem to remember a few protesters getting trampled by the mounted forces. Been a couple of years but the live streams were pretty graphic there at the end.
They were not able to conduct “kettleing” operations, like we saw earlier in Australia.
What happened down under is protesters would call for a big protest in say melborn.
Melborn P.D. would call around, sidney, perth etc. and borrow riot police from those jurisdictions to bus in for the kettling operation.
However, with freedom convoy, there were protests in EVERY city of any size, from Queensland to Montreal, so when Ontario police called around, there were none to spare, hence they had to call them in from Ukes.
No Country has enough law enforcement to engage a population that is refusing to comply, they depend on the vadt majority meekly obeying.
So who goes to jail? Nobody. The same as here. Government officials and politicians break the law, knowing eventually the supreme court will make them stop. But nobody ever gets punished.

There were casualties, but they succeeded in forcing many changes, they may not have been couched as concessions, but they were instrumental in helping break the yoke of Coupvid tyranny from the Canadian people.
