Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the 2024 Republican primary.
The career diminished Florida Governor is trying to save face and has endorsed Donald Trump. The announcement comes at 02:20 of the video below. WATCH:

The Ron DeSantis campaign was built upon a foundation of fraud. Long planned as an effort to destroy the threat that MAGA represents to the Republican apparatus, nothing about the DeSantis campaign was grassroots, authentic, natural or real. The Sea Island organized campaign was a specific and detailed approach driven by the professional political class. Ron DeSantis was a vessel, a willing vessel, for the deliberate schemes and Machiavellian intents of the worst elements in USA Republican politics.
WE CANNOT UNITE with that group. Think about it.
Supporters of Ron DeSantis either knew of the Never Trump intents, or they were not smart enough to see the supernova flares of manipulation that were triggered from the outset. Either way, cunning or stupid, I do not want to camp with them. It is what it is.

He won his 2nd term by 20 points and had nothing to do with Trump. Trump won Florida but not by 20 pts, which means an awful lot of people voted for DeSantis who did not vote for Trump.
Why?

The Democrat candidate himself made an absolutely idiotic position statement on a trans-whatever issue when nobody had even been asking about it. That election was deliberately thrown to pump DeSantis up and facilitate his attempt to take Trump out.
He won by 20 points in 2022 due to a migration to Florida of one million Republicans beginning in 2018 through 2022.

There is no reason to be hostile to regular people who voted for DeSantis. His big donors though, or political consultants and campaign hacks who were smart enough or highly placed enough to know what DeSantis was up to, should be excluded in the future.

It seems to me like they hired the old Ron Paul trolls, who used to spend all their time bashing conservatives even though Ron Paul claimed to be the only real conservative. Ron Paul’s trolls never had a bad word to say about Mitt Romney, and only occasionally mention something that Barack Obama might be doing wrong.
This might be a VERY unpopular opinion BUT we need EVER VOTE. You know darned well the Dims are going to pull out all the cheating tricks they know (and have perfected during the covid era). Very few of those “emergency rules” (mail in voting with no verification, etc) have been rolled back. Most of them are still in place. My opinion is to keep your eye on the big win. Accept what RDS says with a grain of salt and take his endorsement! Welcome his followers! Get their votes! We all knew RDS’s character, why he got into the race, why the Governorship has just been a stepping stone for him, but use him! The time to cut people loose is after President Trump has securely won the general election and is taking the oath on Inauguration Day. Then split hairs if need be, but don’t lose sight of the big win!

I live in FL. I don’t recall him promising not to run for president and everyone basically knew he might and he still won by 20 points which is quite impressive. He didn’t win that because of his charisma or campaigning abilities because he’s not such a great campaigner. Nor particularly charismatic. People just saw and appreciated the job he did.
As far as having a GOP legislature, plenty of others have as well and didn’t get anywhere near what DeSantis got done, and so now the primary is over, let’s just be honest about some things.
Had DeSantis not run for president, all the Trump supporters that hate him and Trump himself would all love him and say he is one of the best conservative, MAGA governors in the country. That’s fact.

I agree. I live in Florida and De Santis has been a terrific governor. The consultants he used may have been repulsive but I believe Ron is a real conservative with MAGA leanings. If he runs again in 2028, he hopefully has learned from this experience.

Sully, DeSantis isn’t a bad choice for President because he did some good things for Florida (which any GOP Governor with a GOP-controlled legislature could have done). He’s bad because he is anti-Trump and anti-MAGA, and he was bought and paid for by his anti-Trump anti-MAGA donors. He’s also a user, Trump said DeSantis begged him for his endorsement to win his first Florida Governor election, and then we all witnessed DeSantis subsequently ignore Trump and even take swipes at Trump, and then he decided to run against Trump in 2024. If this doesn’t offend you I think you need to calibrate your moral compass.
This site has plenty of great articles about DeSantis. I suggest you search for the ones that were published in 2022, starting in August after the Mar-a-Lago raid. DeSantis’ response to the raid was roughly equivalent to Ilhan Omar’s “some people did something” comment about 9/11.

Trump was going to win anyway, imho, and could have without all the nastiness, and too many took his “branding” approach as somehow something other than Trump being Trump. He is transactional as Bongino points out. If you are for him, he loves you. If in the way and not, he tries to destroy you; hence a guy like Vivek goes from being a phony supposedly into a great guy.

What Ron did as a Congressman doesn’t mean he would still do that today. From what I can tell, he’s grown and developed a better grasp on the world and what the right path is and frankly was the best governor in the country and still is.
Trump seemed to change in his life as well. Some things, like his views on trade, remained the same since the 80s, but he was also a democrat for many years. That’s the truth of it.

I totally agree!! I was even more surprised at the final comment regarding a divorce. I cannot count the number of anti-Trump people I know that were constantly saying the same thing about Melania and Donald Trump between 2016 and 2020 and without a shred of evidence. These were not online website authors, but friends and acquaintances. All of these comments without a shred of evidence. Were someone writing this about Melania, the author would be all over them particularly after some have almost relegated her to sainthood.
