He stuck his neck way out to deliver truths which were unavailable anywhere else. And he did it with a certain joi de vivre and a devil may care delivery which was infectious.
It was impossible to not like him…

Gonzalo was sick w/a heart condition and smoked like fiend before he was taken. Tortured, and certainly not given proper medical care for his health issues. As the outbreak of the war in Ukraine was happening, Gonzalo was a sound voice.
He continued to give an assessment as the war progressed, that was contrary to the mainstream media.
He told the truth, as an American citizen — living in Ukraine.
Another was Patrick Lancaster, who also had ‘boots on the ground’.
Both were telling what was really happening.
Nothing that either of these two men reported — was reported on the mainstream media.
Nothing.
I, too, watched many of his videos. He was the ONLY reason that I knew the truth about Ukraine. He was Chilean with dual citizenship in the U.S. I’m not sure why he thought he could stay in a place run by evil thugs while openly revealing their atrocities and corruption. Sometimes, I guess it’s just hard to see the full situation when you are in the very center of it. May God comfort his family and carry them through this horrible tragedy.

Lira was released from detention and almost across the border into Hungary and out of Ukraine when they arrested him a second time a few months ago. They could have simply let him leave Ukraine. There was no legitimate or even political reason to keep him. His death would only hurt their cause not help it!
