It’s very sad, but if you try to follow the rules and obey the law, our Immigration Service will walk over a bed of hot coals to give you a very hard time and play the delay game. It took me two and a half years and thousands of dollars to legally obtain my wife’s visa to come to the States. Three years later, when she was eligible to become a US Citizen, her application was delayed multiple times for another two years. Now, she’s trying to bring her daughter here, and the application has already been delayed for over a year with no end in sight.
To enter legally, there are many hoops you must clear. Police/background checks and physical exams frequently take a couple of days in a hospital and thousands of dollars in fees and expenditures. Clearly, the Biden administration encourages folks to bypass this morass and just swim across the Rio Grande. No muss, no fuss, no background checks, no physicals. Convicted and all wanted felons and terrorists are welcome.
I have a very good friend who with her family jumped through all these legal immigration hoops decades ago. After all the trials they became very proud patriotic American citizens. They are today incensed and heartbroken with the current lawless situation.
Yes, I have several of those friends myself. Pissed and heartbroken.
I agree that the naturalization process should be streamlined however it should be difficult to obtain to a certain degree. I am not sure what that equilibrium point would be.

Yet when illegal immigration came up, they defended the illegals as deserving the same opportunities as their colleagues who played by the rules. Normally highly intelligent, analytical people were blind to the difference.
No human has the right to steal the rights or property of another or to demand a government steal it for them. Illegal immigrants are pushing their way into the country without our consent. While they are here they create burdens on all taxpayers and depriving Citizens of the Right to have their duly passed laws enforced.
