Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson won the vote and has become Speaker of the House of Representatives. This is a huge shift in momentum for the MAGA base, for common sense pragmatic voters, and for the overall direction of our national body politic.
Speaker Johnson delivered a humble, gracious and fantastic speech after the vote. WATCH:
WASHINGTON DC – The fourth-term Louisianan sailed to victory with 220 votes, more than the 215 he needed to be elected speaker on the House floor. The final vote on the first ballot was 220-209.
Johnson’s win marked a stunning turnaround after more than three weeks of chaotic limbo in the House following the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the demise of three other failed speaker candidates. He did not lose a single GOP vote from lawmakers who were present; Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) is in Israel and did not attend the balloting.
Before his election as speaker, Johnson served as vice chair of the GOP conference — but was seen by hard-line conservatives as somewhat outside the mainstream party leadership mentality that some of them faulted McCarthy for embodying. He was first elected in 2016 after practicing constitutional law for two decades.
“You know, sometimes new is better,” House Rules Committee Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) said Wednesday. “I think he starts off with trust. And he starts off with an understanding that he’s going to have to move quickly and we don’t have time for a lot of fun and games here.” (read more)
Johnson sounds like a great, conservative leader. Sundance will rightfully sing his praises until the first time he says something nice about DeSantis, at which point Sundance treat him as the Devil himself.
Baloney.
go away.
Sundance will do the smart thing, NOTHING! Let this play out before making him a hero for MAGA .
Who’s DeSantis?
He looks good natured and virtuous seeing as I have nothing else to go on.
“Huge Win” my ass. We will shortly see how the latest -R iteration of “good natured and virtuous” scores. We’re 24 hrs. in and already the sheep are joining the Johnson chorus without one single vote under a squeakership that hasn’t even clocked one (1) damn vote. Won’t have to wait long as they’re supposedly voting on something today Thursday which as before may well be more empty performative BS as so many times before. At this point we need knife fighters – not sellout BS artists. Past this, Johnson clocks a barely marginal score at LR which considering it’s calculated on rolling blocks of 50 votes currently through 24 March 2023 would be even lower. https://libertyscore.conservativereview.com/mike-johnson.
Yay!
Matt Gaetz is the hero in this ordeal. God provided this country a lifeline in Mike Johnson. Hopefully, Congress will deliver because it is probably the USA’s last chance.
God provided NOTHING and will not get involved in man free will decisions? That is why he gave a free will to work or not work there decisions out.
[…] Wednesday, The Conservative Treehouse reported that Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson has been elected Speaker of the House of […]
I’m so suspicious. If Johnson is so conservative, then why was he so widely approved on the floor?
It couldn’t have just been Geatz’ shaming the House on that podcast.
McCarthy had to cut all sorts of deals before he was nominated, were there no deals struck or votes bought to get reluctant and RINO R’s on board? Congress is all about making deals, I have a hard time believing there weren’t representatives playing hardball for political promises.
Why aren’t we hearing about them like we did with McCarthy and Jordan?
Where’s suspicious cat?
Received all Republicans vote. Is that not suspicious???? How did he vote on Jordan? All the RINO like this guy for a reason and it is not all conservatism?
I read he voted for Jordan and is a friend. He got the vote of the Rinos because, while conservative, he was not a member of the Freedom Caucus. The Rinos weren’t going to let anyone in the Freedom Caucus win. But they also knew that Geatz was never going to back down and they were starting to look incompetent, so they figured this was the best they could do.
They didn’t have to cut a whole bunch of deals because the earlier deals still stand.
I have no idea if he will be good or bad. Time will tell. I do know that the job is impossible, so alot of people will be mad at him quickly.
The only reason Pelosi got things done was because she was a tyrant. Cross her and your career was over. A small minority of Republicans refuse to let the House run under a Republican tyrant, which means occassionally the Speaker is going to have to compromise to move things forward.
As soon as Johnson does that once he’ll lose many of the Republicans. It will happen sooner rather than later. The question is, can Republicans deal with having the freedom to vote their conscious and lose.
I had forgotten that this was him. This is great. We now have a very slim chance that the covid crimes against humanity may be prosecuted.
It seems to good to be true when we get someone who says he is going to do something the way it is supposed to be done.
That’s how far we’ve sunk.
This is also a win for all the frustrated grass roots volunteers trying to get their local republican RINO’s out. Matt Gaetz should go on a tour, talk at caucus, and encourage local precinct volunteers to never give up. Even with overwhelming odds against you, a small group can prevail over an entrenched, do-nothing, majority, who suck up to the RNC and spend their time holding on to power instead of winning elections.
Things can change if you persist.
Sure as predicted does not take long for disingenious leftists come a-snarling :
Just a few samples :
“There has never been any outcry or worry that the Christian agenda might infect his leadership. Instead, the “very Catholic” Biden is praised by the press despite the fact that he “openly flouts church teaching and doctrine on major issues.”
Similarly, when Gavin Newsom emblazoned Jesus’ Mark 12:31 commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” on billboards all across the nation in an attempt to twist the verse in favor of radical abortion activism, corporate media uttered not a word of protest. Instead, most outlets chose to uncritically amplify Newsom’s cause.
When Democrats manipulate scripture to secure political wins, their allies in the leftist media do not care. When Christian conservatives like Johnson cite their faith, however, they are immediate candidates for the left’s “Christian nationalist” lies and fearmongering”

“Republicans have made abundantly clear that they have emerged from the uncertainty and chaos of the last few weeks with one clear mission: to run a Christian nationalist House”

Rep Gaetz got lucky.. This was an eyelash away from being an instant replay of the Freedom Caucuses’ efforts that resulted in the Paul Ryan disaster.
Thanks so much, Sundance. We watched this live and I couldn’t find it anywhere else.
Mike Johnson is the real deal. Very proud of him. He will get us back to our Constitutional roots. That said, prepare for incoming from the left. Jeffries showed that side of the aisle with his speech.
I hope that you are right. I have backed off from following everything as closely as I had been. When I do check in to see what is happening and see something like this, the first thing that occurs to me is:
Since I was such a complete “junkie” until recently, someone who followed everything that was happening in the government very closely, I do wonder why I have never even heard the name, much less seen this representative in action. (I also wonder why he is not a member of the Freedom Caucus, as is mentioned here.)
Not such a huge win when you consider Johnson supports Israel.
He’s a RINO
