The media and punditry are saying it’s the pressure of Jordan, but really, it’s the pressure of the voters that’s scaring the crap out of the Republicans in the House.
The block of opposition to Jim Jordan’s nomination in the House is crumbling, as their phones, emails and fax machines are being lit up by voters demanding support and threatening a removal primary against any House member who tries to stand in the way of the people.
Jordan has vowed to take his nomination to a House floor vote and force the Republican Party to take a stand. This is a solid strategy that puts any no vote against the will of the electorate.
WASHINGTON – Twenty-four hours before the full House will vote on whether to hand Jordan the gavel, the Judiciary chair and his allies have managed to chip away at a significant bloc of opposition that many in the House GOP saw as insurmountable just days ago.
That includes two lawmakers who had publicly vowed not to support Jordan: Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), who had publicly railed against Jordan’s behavior towards Majority Whip Steve Scalise, and House Armed Services Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), who had also backed Scalise’s bid and has been critical of the House Freedom Caucus’s tactics in recent years.
Another holdout, Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), posted on X Monday that he would be “offering my support on the House floor” to Jordan. Buchanan, a senior member of the Florida GOP delegation, is another significant get, given three Republicans from the Sunshine state are still holding out.
Some House Republicans also raised eyebrows at the nod from Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.), a senior appropriator who has been similarly skeptical of the ultraconservatives’ demands this Congress.
“I feel real good about the momentum we have and I think we’re real close,” Jordan told reporters Monday, vowing to take the contest to the floor at noon regardless of whether he’s formally landed 217 votes. (read more)
Y’all know how I feel about Jordan in general terms, but hopefully the MAGA base and President Trump’s influence can overwhelm the right wing of the Uniparty vulture.
The wall of opposition from the American voters is reinforced and growing taller brick-by-brick. The white against black narrative is crumbling. Have to admit I’m getting pretty tired of the negativity (from our side) towards Jordan. As a wise man once said “the enemy of good, is perfect”.
Jordan is by far the most MAGA and biggest Trump supporter we could possibly get as speaker. Why do you think so many uniparty/RINOs have been so strongly against him and had to be dragged kicking and screaming to support him?
To the anti-Jordan people (on the MAGA side), who exactly do you prefer? Trump’s not happening. Gaetz isn’t happening..
I know there’s more to the story than voting record, but it’s pretty indicative of where one stands and no GOP speaker in decades (maybe my life, not sure about Newt) has a voting record close to Jordan’s. I think his liberty score is 94%, compared to 54% for McCarthy and roughly same for Scalise.
As far as the “all talk… Trey Gowdy… ” stuff, I don’t know what anyone expects from one congressman. As speaker, I think we’ll see more. We couldn’t expect more from probably anyone else that has a realistic chance of becoming speaker.
MAGA people should get behind Jordan, imo and stop wishing for the perfect speaker that doesn’t exist.
Jim Jordan is a wrestler as am I. He was a collegiate champion. You can’t get there without courage, spine, guts, intelligence, and strategy. He has good in him. The question is will he use it with wisdom.
I was fooled by his rhetoric for a while and then became nauseated as I realized he became like Trey Gowdy. The force of evil is dark on those in our government.
Supporting him now is a faith that Trump sees something. A faith that he can change. A faith that there s good in him if he will purify his character and his strength.
It may be a faster path to MAGA to have intense forces of rehab, change, support, truth, and righteousness immersing our legislators, than to primary them all, or eliminate them all, prosecute them all and then find suitable replacements.
The cleansing will have to go into the staffers as well. Deep cleaning is required everywhere. But We the People are slowly rising to the occasion.
Discipleship with our family and neighbors is just as important , no more important than calling our congresscritters and sending in donations.

I’ve called the 3 FL congress creatures. The line was busy for Balart. Got voicemail with “mailbox is full” msg. for Gimenez. I actually spoke to someone at Rutherford’s office.
I told him that “I would like to respectfully ask Congress Rutherford to do the right thing for the country and vote for Jim Jordan for Speaker. He took my info and the msg., which I repeated before I said thank you and have a nice day.

John Rutherford, who i always thought was a great guy as he was a good sheriff. I can NOT believe he would vote against Jordan & i told them so. It was a recording.
Sorry to say, my Congresscritter just voted for Lee Zeldin……and I’m hoping someone primaries the SOB next year. I never liked him when he was running but the alternative was not voting for that office. Now I hope someone has the cogliones to primary him.
If it were up to me, I’d fire Congress and start all over with a whole new set of rules, starting with term limits and making lobbyists and criminal felony! What a completely incompetent group of morons!!
