SAF = Slowly At First
As unsettled things begin to take on increased frequency and concern, and at the suggestion of some long-time Treeper members, I agree there may be a benefit to sharing information with each other from our regions.
We are unlikely to get a fulsome understanding of what is taking place nationally from any media outlet. Indeed, there is a greater likelihood of disturbances and regional issues being downplayed and dismissed as they were in the “knock-out game” era. So, I am going to occasionally post SAF articles where discussion on regional security issues, disturbances that appear coordinated, can be shared among our Treehouse community.
All future SAF posts will be password protected, at least for the first 24 hours. This will permit me to review the conversation prior to (if at all) removing the restriction and allowing public review. By now, all CTH readers should be familiar with the password for protected posts.
Consider the SAF threads a specific focus where we can address concerns of regional conflict, civic disturbance or any concerns that appear to threaten the tranquility of our area, neighborhood, region, village or location. The SAF threads will be a place where you can review what is happening on a more national basis and get an idea of what types of potential threats to civil disorder might be starting to surface.
These SAF threads are for you. For us to understand the scale and scope of any civic unrest that might be happening. Your comments are the point of the SAF posts, and I will also put any larger national story into the equation for discussion. A simple state and area are all that is needed for sharing, ie, central Mississippi, Virginia southern coast, etc. No need to get specific, just ground reports with general proximity identified.
Additionally, if you have general advice, suggestions, thoughts or plans that you have put into place and feel may benefit the audience, feel free to share your advice and suggestions. Again, this is a conversation.
The purpose is three-fold. One, so we have an understanding of what is happening. Two, so we can share and counsel with best ideas and suggestions. Three, so that we realize we are not alone.
More later.
Love to all,
~ Sundance

Virginia mountain area, little blue town,,,red pilling is slow to start, but is starting nonetheless, people are being careful, and observant, but living freely for now
C’ville? I’m in NoVa, avoiding any travel to DC on Friday. Crime is bad enough in the city without foreign lunatics seeking world-wide publicity somewhere on Capitol Hill. midtown, or Lafayette Square.
Further south on 81
I started out preparing to cloister at home when digital IDs or vax requirements or whatever is thrown at us next makes it impossible for me to enter any stores. I did not comply and will not comply.
Add to that an invading army coming into my AZ county. I’m about as prepared as a 75 yr old woman can be for that, I guess. I don’t see many illegal immigrants in my town as many are being bussed elsewhere or they lead Border Patrol on a high speed chase heading north.
One must be mindful of the lone runners carrying drugs from the border. The Tucson area is on the “pipeline” going to Phoenix, the hub for distribution.
Now I have to make preparations for fleeing the hordes. Buying a sleeping bag for camping in winter, possibly in mountain forest, a portable set-up for water filtration, portable toilet, etc. Some stuff I already have from my fulltime RVing years.
I wanted to sell my tiny travel trailer 3 yrs. ago. Glad I didn’t. Been saving it for the bad times coming. My bug-out abode.
No matter how I prepare, the only true defense I have is leaning on my Lord and Savior. Been memorizing Scripture to keep it buried in my heart where no one can take it from me.
Thank you, Sundance, and all who comment here in a good spirit of friendship. Blessings to all of you!
Outstanding. Be well.
We’re in this together, tas. 🙂
Same age range, same state, same God!
Good luck to us all–AZ border at Lukeville saw hundreds of Syrians recently…
Every one of them fit, lean and well-muscled.
The new ones here are spreading out. I observed that they appeared to be scoping out for an event last week. Now I know what. (Maybe) Everywhere it seemed that there was military age men (30’s not kids) claiming no English – more so than usual in my part of town. Traffic even during rush hour has been lighter than usual and most in person services aren’t jammed up with long lines. I’ve had strangers coming to the door every week day. The weather has cooled so solicitations are up but they could be something else. My neighborhood has changed and I don’t know my neighbors. Across from me is a house that only accepts revolving tenants from one specific country. I don’t want to know them. We have a lot of that here. Last week my husband fell in the driveway transferring from his scooter to the vehicle and he couldn’t get up. Along came a walker that I’ve been fearful of for years cause he’s a bit different. He and his friend helped get my husband up and now I know he’s a nice guy. I’ve considered travel trailer but I need to stay close to medical as a caregiver.
Thanks for the report, Kookoo. God bless you and all caregivers.
I am glad you found unlikely help and another actually friendly face in the neighborhood, Kookoo. I hope your husband isn’t too banged up from his fall and that you aren’t too worn down by worry and care for someone you love.
God bless.
God bless, RVsue! And thank you for helping me realize our camper could be a bug-out home. Need to get it back in shape.
Whatever it takes, I am in.!
Embarrassed in MN. (Once again)
Ilhan Omar calls for “de-escalation.”
How do you de-escalate from beheading infants?
Pray for our repentance and deliverance from this Evil.
She drives me nuts, she is my so called rep. Ha I would not expect a thing from her in any way. O and Dayton really screwed this beautiful city or at least it was. Dayton is the putz that said if you do not like them moving into your area move! What a clown.. Kept his Money in So. Dak. to avoid the taxes here.
F Omar. She’s useless trash. But I have one suggestion for her. Someone give her a stick and make her poke a sleeping grizzly. Tell her it will be ok, because all she’ll need to do is tell the bear to “de-escalate.” Stupid b****.
When she whines about the Israeli response in Gaza, tell her “some people did something.”
I also live in MN, and you shouldn’t be embarrassed. You didn’t bring her to the US let alone MN. You didn’t vote her into office. She is the problem, and she’s vocally proud of it. She has shown the world the sick mentality of her belief system as have the rest of the so called ‘Squad’ of women who hate America. They do it every time they open their mouths to spew their antisemitism and hatred of all things American. They enjoy privileges and wealth their jobs have provided while condemning the nation that gave them the freedoms they abuse.
Rural Minnesota here:
We may have the absolute worst US Senate delegation in D.C….Klobuchar and Smith are awful.
Assachusetts here, for a little while longer…
I’ll raise you:
Warren and Markey,ughh
michiganistan….debbie stabenow and gary peters. the two dumbest pos to ever hold office.
We have a failed astronaut and code pink barbie in Az.
Ditto on those two.
Every time I hear or see exhortations to “call my rep” about something I get jealous of just about any other citizen…
Liawatha & Mr. Frosty
We have you ALL beat with Fetterman and Casey…..The bottom of the IQ barrel
I do not think that word means what she thinks it means!
Criminals, abusers, and terrorists always want de-escalation as soon as their victims have the position of power.
Northern Minnesota in the ugly blue communist Arrowhead region along Lake Superior and the main road for illegals to cross into our state from Canadistan.
Two dem senators and any rinos here vote in line with their dem buddies.
Space Coast FL. Ran an errand at TJ Maxx the other day and packs of frantic suburban women frantically shopping for clothing.
Most people I speak to at work (health care/hospital) are clueless, sleepwalking. Talking about their diets and new rain boots. Lots of Gen Z zombies. I’m really isolated here without many who get it. But I know and seek the Lord and I’m prepped, L&L’d.
I’m here, with you… right up the coast. Sending you love, peace, and faith my friend… Praise be to Our Lord! Prayers are being said – For all.
My son and his family do that. To be honest, I believe that it is healthy for the time being for the children. Keep them as happy and distracted as possible. My son realizes, but he continues to busy his family with boating and camping. They are leaving this weekend to camp down south for fall break.
I believe my son knows the things brewing. I send him some information to make him aware of important things.
He is such a good daddy to the four that have been entrusted to him by God and such a wonderful husband. I tell them often that I love watching them do life. My son is a Marksman, so I am thankful for that as well. Bad days may be just around the corner so live free and joyful while you can.
I’m here in Melbourne, neighbor.
I’m near you. East of NASA.
Luz – The Great Conflict
Our Lord Jesus to Luz de Maria de Bonilla in January, 2009 (with Imprimatur):
The Great Conflict, the Third World War, is at the door. As Israel started the Alliance, so now, through its conflicts, it will start the spark of the Great War.
https://www.countdowntothekingdom.com/luz-the-great-conflict/
Listened to two say not Armageddon yet. This is the birth pangs, the prelude, after which we will cry out for rescue and the antichrist enters the room.
I live in the Tampa Bay area and haven’t seen anything unusual yet. My daughter is at UF, and I did warn her to stay away from any rallies or protests associated with the Palestinians or Israelis. There was some sort of incident up there last weekend.
Best to all.
Northern WY here. I have seen some that I would call illegals at the local walmart that are probably from south or central America. Wife did say she saw some folks in camo at the same walmart the other day who looked like they could be hispanic, but they werent speaking spanish. That is the most concerning.
Even Mexicans living on the border and career illegal catchers tell of assuming their daily catch was from some remote South American tribe only to learn different – that was years ago – it’s a high stress job. The catches were never reported in MSM.
Situational awareness and precautions.
Talking to a friend and she made a good comment…people need to put down their phone when out in public and pay attention to what is going on around them.
Word of mouth seems to work best.
Better to be safe—than sorry.
Now….what I have noticed…
I had to go to my branch bank last week which is less than five miles from the Mexico border.
What I noticed was that during the drive to and from….which is more than 25 miles…
I did not see even one Border Patrol vehicle.
Not one!
Normal is you see one practically every mile parked on side road, driving….no matter what day of the week,-or time of the day, there are always Border Control vehicles around.
I have never seen that before.
What used to be intercept has probably morphed into escort.
From what I understand, Border Patrol officers are now simply processing illegals into the country. That’s their new “job.”
yes, CBP Travel Agency
A Border Patrol agent at our church in SE AZ tells us that all agents have been pulled off border duty to do nothing except sit a the computer & process the illegals. He says morale is at an all time low.
Yes, one CBP officer told me that they feel like social workers with a gun.
yeah, my nephew got out
now devoting his labors to a family restaurant they started couple years ago
and no longer any check point on I -19, not in a couple of years. It used to keep me the designated driver when out with family
10-4. Be aware and be safe.
Any parents keeping their kids home from school tomorrow? My sons private school has added more armed security for tomorrow- my little is still in public- so they might have a cop drive around the block one time…. I hate to change our daily life due to terror threats- we are American and brave- but it’s my kids leaving home- not me. I’m sort of lost….. my husband has no opinion on the matter.
not knowing where you live it would be a hard call. Urban areas are likely to be target areas. College towns too. When in doubt, best to be safe.
My public elementary school here in AZ -students are on Fall break👏👏 thank goodness.
I can only imagine the anxiety you will be feeling if you send them.
Many of the schools are just a collection of single story buildings with too many access points. I used to be on one of those recycling groups where you try to find people that want your stuff and one individual was using multiple aliases and constantly trying to get free cell phones from people. Right after 911 and I had read that cell phones were being used as detonators in bombs.
Sad, your husband…
We’re keeping the grandkids home. We do not expect violence at their school but we do fear people panicking if there are attacks. We think there could be a public response similar to the Covid shut down causing a lot of traffic congestion and clearing store shelves. If power is cut off we want our family here at home so we can provide and protect.
We are so far removed from when our children were school age and we didn’t have this sort of decision. I don’t know what I would do but in the back of my mind is, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Hey tiffthis! I don’t remember hearing one of your kids got into a private school. I hope it’s good for him. I homeschooled for 3 years but my daughter was having serious depression so I put her in a private school (im also on los angeles). They always have 3 armed adults and the head security is former LEO.
I’m sending my daughter to school tomorrow. The way I see it, it’s always been a threat and will continue to be. I am wrestling with my fear for her in pretty much every aspect of growing up and having independence. I was taking her and friends to mall and I would stay in one area. Since the snatch and grab in Arcadia, I’m staying with them and trying to convince them to do other things.
I don’t stay at red lights when exiting left off freeway at night. I don’t go to gas stations at night and never next to off ramps.
Good memory- I am in SoCal- Los Angeles. Yes, oldest loves the private school and the little wants to go in 6th grade. Funny thing about the gas stations- my parents raised me to never go at night and I still follow that advice. I have half a mind to patrol the elementary school myself tomorrow. Lol.
Pray and trust. It is all that we can do. Have peace my dear friend. I will pray Psalm 91 right now for your littles!
God bless you, precious Mama!
I’d keep them home for your peace of mind.
Tell the school you all have belly aches and enjoy the day..
I’d keep them home, too.
Heck, I’m keeping me home all day tomorrow, and my husband is staying home, too. Plenty to do out in the world, but for Friday — the day of Jihad — we’ll be staying home.
Thought about it, Tiffthis, but I really think if they are going to attack – they will do so when we are least expecting it.
It’s the one off nut jobs who will take up a cause at the drop of an Allahu Akbar that make me nervous.
My daughter is 17 and where at one time she wanted nothing to do with our firearms – she now wants to learn how to shoot.
Good morning JWoo, thankfully all my kids and grandkids are proficient shooters. I’m the odd man out. I know how to shoot but am far from proficient.
I think Savannah will take to it like flying🙂. My youngest granddaughter did when her dad took her shooting last year. Scared and nervous at first like with anything new.
If “country day school” is part of the name keep him home. That name seems to attract more problems.
I’m in eastern NC…..going home tomorrow to my brother’s…not the best choice because like your husband, he has no opinion either (he’s a flaming liberal but better than an empty house).
There are military bases all around here and they have been really busy all day today. There are always a few but this has been ridiculous today.
There was a bomb threat at the hospital last week which didn’t materialize. A little strange that the sheriff showed up to make a speech at one of the churches Wednesday. I think he was just trying to calm people but said there are no large gangs here. This is a condo complex and the tremendous number of mexicans who have settled around here make up the ground crew…They don’t seem very happy and they all wear full face masks. They do not speak to the residents. Stay safe everybody.
We had 3 bus loads of sweet potato pickers at Walmart last Saturday.
Sheriff must have missed that because that right there is a GANG. 😎
We are on fall break, but I would be wondering that myself. A lot of prepared citizens, but it is a college town. Generally a saner area than many these days, though.
Might be a good day to stay home and make caramel apples or something. Some fun family time just because.
Better to be safe, Tiff, and keep them home. Keep a sharp eye out. Prayers up for you and your family.
In situations like this, keep your child close. They can make up the time later.
Central Texas here. But prohibited from commenting as a rule. I hope SD relents this once.
Had a conversation today with a friend who works at a local government facility where she is privy to information most are not. She says our little community is loaded with illegal immigrants. All is quiet for the moment, but our local law enforcement (town and county) are very aware of our situation and have a plan in place to act when the time comes.
Welcome back Bob….letting bygones be bygones. 😉
Several global corps have declared a “Work from Home Day” tomorrow.
Interesting
This was in New York today.

A car full of men waving Palestinian flags brazenly decided to stop traffic on the Long Island Expressway, and cause havoc!
This is to create intimidation!
We have terrorists galore in our country! This is just the evil beginning!
If they block traffic in FL, we can continue on our way. Problem solved. Smile as you go under
Fine, my vehicle is a weapon, I will happily take out the fools making sitting targets of all the motorists behind me.
Poor me bad student in the back of the room not paying attention
Have no idea SAF password stuff
Think Red October – “One ping only”.
Wait! Or was it Red Dawn?
Red Dawn
Red October, the part I liked was the Russian captain had a Scottish accent, lol!
All the best Russians do.
Me either

here is a faster hint if ya don’t see the above for some reason:
Scroll up to the article at the top of the page and in the 2nd pic in the article there is a word by folks on horses.
Lose the quotes/ punctuation mark & you will likely figure it out.

God Bless everyone~!
I’m in the same boat, don’t know the pass.
It’s up above in the picture Sundance posted…

Had to go to several job sites in NoVa today and didn’t see anything out of ordinary. Got home and we took dog for walk in our cute downtown and a group of about 25 people one with a megaphone were marching “No Justice no peace,” “Palestine from the river to the sea,” etc. Cops kept them off the main drag, as it was a nice evening and a lot of people dining al fresco. No one paid them attention and we are a college town, so whatever.
Fairfax City? Herndon? Reston?
Yes. Then Ashburn, Culpeper and back to Fredericksburg. Glad gas is down a few pennies.
No piece no justice!
Amen.
North of Orlando. Pretty quiet. We just go about our business. That said, I may have added to my “effects and accessories” that I travel about with.
Pro tip: don’t block the damn road. I got s*** to get done.
Upstate South Carolina. Unlikely target area but with numerous colleges around you can’t be too sure.
Love the upstate.
Yep, just moved to the area close to North Greenville University. The area is definitely quieter then where we were on east side of Greenville. The university is a Baptist supported institution and small. Other than that, there are lots of country folks. The views of Glassy Mountain are peaceful and am hoping it stays that way.
My husband works in the lowcountry during the week, a contractor on Kiawah and Seabrook islands. My concern is when he travels home tomorrow afternoon. Praying the Lord blesses him with His traveling mercies.
Does Sleepy Joe still have the Kiawah mansion?
I have never heard that he had property there. I do remember that he and his hag vacationed there last summer…the two cockroaches from the sewer. 🤢
While he was veep, he stayed on the island extensively in a top level property that was apparently his, or , more likely, kept for him. Knew the neighbors.
Nice area. Sadly, as you note, we are seeing so many people moving into the area it’s changing things dramatically.
What’s up in my area, lots of ways to take this,

Michigan, Southwest. Headed east to Ann Arbor for the Michigan vs. Indiana game on Saturday which will put us for few days 40 minutes or so from Dearborn. Periodically CC’d but as of yesterday I will be carrying everyday while out and about.
My family has been prepared as well as you can be food and safety wise to live for months without having to go out.
It’s going to be a very tough 13 months.
Go Wolverines! Best heart Dr. in the country… Dr. Bolling. Saved my sis this summer, hence big fan. Enjoy the game, stay safe.
NW Oklahoma. Knowledge and ammo.
I live in the South East area of Michigan. I just got back from getting my hair cut. At the salon every patron was talking about being vigilant going forward. And the reasons for it in detail. I was extremely surprised by the engagement of all. I had never seen it like that before about current events or anything else really. Usuallly just small talk. Before I left, a U.S. veteran reminded the rest to “keep their head on
a swivel”.
thought and observations;
FYI. Go to Heyjackass.com and watch some of the videos showing bangers jumping out of their cars and shooting AK’s into neighboring cars. If you think your safe brandishing a handgun, you are deadly wrong. It’s time to stock up with AK’s or similar.
Former yankee living in Greenville SC for the last 12 years. Upstate SC still largely conservative but Gvlle becoming more and more left. As a native New Yorker I was always skeptical of big crowds and still avoid them down here. Evil will find its way to the secondary and tertiary cities and small towns/suburbia as we all know. I am afraid of the coming months and year and welcome any info about groups in the upstate of SC I should get involved with to find support from like-minded patriots. I am mostly surrounded by republican folks that still think we’re living in the 1990s, expecting the pendulum to “swing back”. They have their heads in the sand about what’s coming and it’s very hard to find like-minded folks where I am.
Hey Jen, I know there are groups there ( I used to live there and still have good friends). just a little north TR and above…… it may take a little luck and caution… the groups are tight… go to marietta for lunch sometime.
HI Jen, we escaped Bergen County NJ about 30 years back for Hub City. I’m still like that too. We have a group here called Spartanburg CAN. It’s more of a political action network but it’s something. Not aware of anything like that in Gville off hand but surely there is something right?
Texas Hill country, 45 minutes to the nearest city. So far things are business as usual but some parents are keeping their children home from school in the event of chaos or congestion.
Report from the field. Drove our motorhome from NW suburbs of Chicago south to Southwest Florida (southwest of Naples) the past 2 days, paying over $4.00 per gallon for diesel. Amazed at the amount to trucks on I-65 & I-75, of note was the lack of cars, vans, etc. I’ve been making this trek for 30 years and have never experienced this light amount of car traffic. Usually this time of year there is a lot more people heading south. Appears to me to be a sign our our sick economy.
Joe, think the traffic early Nov will be heavy. Hotels booked along this corridor first weekend. You might of been ahead of the crowds headed down. I’m headed up to Oak Brook this weekend and back down early Nov.. Already practicing patience, I know it will be heavy. Naples is already gearing up with more traffic and car carriers. Enjoy the warm weather!
From south of St. Louis; our county is a strong American community that votes conservative by a decent margin. Haven’t noticed anything unusual here. No media coverage regarding the general threat from militants. Most would have no clue, pretty typical of most places I presume.
Know and understand your State’s CCW laws.
Example, your out and about, and you see a someone with a lite molotov cocktail.
That person can in most instances can be legally taken down. Ended.
The flip side the kid next door running down your driveway away from you and property with a Molotov cocktail. Is likely a good time to exercise a bit of trigger finger safety.
Please, everyone. Remember Sundance’s third point. None of us are truly alone.
There are a great many rock solid people in this Country.
F’ing far more than clickbait artist would have you think.
Probably the best advise to given.
Maybe it is time to have ‘THAT’ chat with your little Angels/Dickens.
That chat that tries maybe for the first time for you to be a parent.
I say it this this way, because I believe it to be fallacy to assume just because you read at the CTH, that your children have not grown up under the sway of massive social media gremlins working over time to mess with their minds.
It is very true, in many areas of this country parents are trying to raise well adjusted children under exceptionally differcult social metrics.
I can not begin to in walk in that parent shoes.
The SAF danger is something happens locally near you.
I don’t know, maybe news of a major terrorism event in major metropolitan city. Next thing you know the light go off.
Fear sets in, next thing is your children join in and become part of a mob mentality.
Vastly compounding continuity risks to your community.
That is the ‘THAT’ talk I am speaking of.
Could some communities become ‘no go zones’ under civil strife. Absolutely. Can those engulfed under hotheads ruling the day in such ‘no go zones’ spill over into generally well adjusted
society. Absolutely.
That is the measures of planning Sundance has spoken of quite directly.
It is not, if nor is not when, but your about immediate safety.
Not an easy topic of discussion on what to do or not do in event there are roven bands running around hell bent on murder. Frankly also not a topic I would seek to offer advice. Since by any measure it entails welcome to my little friend.
Long Island NY, I fly my flag in distress upside down above a DTOM flag and more people as of late are sayin you got that right.
Had someone working on my property text me a pic of my flags and say damn right and today had someone who was selling something door to door who I would have guessed was a Biden voter, say that he appreciated my flags and said he feels the same and is 100 percent MAGA and is sick of our uni party politicians.
Its building, but my neighborhood is 99 percent MAGA to start and we know who isn’t.
Stay safe.
Would fly above both an Appeal to Heaven flag.
It is in my rotation!
SE Iowa
Tonight I stopped by Walmart. Nothing unusual unless you consider the parking lot lights were off. Employees told me it’s the third night in a row.
But, I was also told that the manager called for service the first night. I was also told no one had yet shown to service the problem.
When I walked out with my purchase the lights literally came on as I approached my vehicle.
Just very odd. Be very careful out there.
Just an observation i would like to share. I have been watching testimonies of people who made it out of the World Trade Center attack. Also testimonies of people who escaped from the Lahaina fires & now the Israeli concert terrorist attack.
One thing i see in common with most every testimony is, the ones that hightailed it out the fastest were the ones who survived.
In the WTC many were told to stay in the office until further notice, the building collapsed in apx 75 min. & you know how the main streets in Lahaina were blocked off & police routed then into a fire trap.
Also from the Lahaina fires i learned, keep a full tank of gas if possible, but never let it get lower than half a tank.
Just my two cents.
I read quickly, and I have to read again to understand exactly how this will work, but just the idea is brilliant, considering what may be on the horizon. Thank you Sundance!
Re the Hamas call for jihad tomorrow: Hour from Phoenix AZ there are a lot of illegals be housed by the US — young men from Syria.
Where in AZ? What direction from Phoenix?
wolverines!
One of my wife’s co-worker and friend mentioned this morning how difficult it is bringing her 4 and 2 year old to daycare at their synagogue each morning past three armed guards. This is in Arizona.
Curious about StLouis, MO hotel district by the Gateway Arch. Safest way to get to & from the airport. How safe is the area?
Downtown is not safe. During the day you can walk with a group; never alone. Do not go out alone at night. If you are staying at a reputable hotel, there should be a shuttle that can get you to the airport.
PgtSndThinker-For the 15-20 minute journey to the city, there might be a hotel shuttle available. If not, there are plenty of taxi’s as well as Uber and Lyft drivers.
STL did take in 1,000 Afghan refugees. There seem to be quite a few more “residents” around that do not speak English. It is Cory Bush’s district..
Word on the street is the City of St. Louis isn’t what it used to be, but STL has some exquisite architecture and history. Just be aware of your surroundings and be sensible.
I’m anxious. My household is unprepared in probably every way. The husband just sits around looking at music videos and I don’t know where to start.
I know we need water. Is there a filter that is recommended? Does this mean I need something to capture rainwater in? We do not have a generator. Is there a recommended type? Should it be solar?
I literally don’t know what the hell to do
Do some web searches. Start small. Little things will help a lot. Get some water cans, buy extra food. Candles and a camp stove are handy. Take baby steps until you have had a chance to do some reading. Everyone who is prepared to some degree started where you are.
You Tube has some good videos that will answer a lot of your questions.
Big Berkey but they are backordered. Get yourself some life straws – you can take them with you in an emergency or use at home to filter water.
Get water storage rain collection containers for outdoors and the big water bags you fill and leave in the tub.
If you don’t have any food preps start with lots of beans and rice white rice not brown and dry beans, and oats will last for years if stored properly. After that add canned veggies and meats. Don’t forget sugar, flour, etc. and a quick bread recipe you can make on a stovetop.
Get yourself a portable gasoline generator and a small solar generator. Also you can get those outdoor garden path solar lights that will pull sun all day and you can use them for light at night. Beyond that flashlights, radio, batteries.
Then there’s the camp stove and fuel, several gallons of stored gas a charcoal grill and charcoal, lighter fluid and lighters, candles, trash bags, tarps.
Get a tent – if you lose power you sleep inside a tent indoors to stay warm. Also get sleeping bags that are good below freezing and if you want to spend the money a super warm down comforter for every bed used in your house.
Get enough oil to do your own oil changes a couple of times for all cars you own as well as replacement brake pads.
Pet food if you have pets. Good outdoor boots, gloves and winter coats.
Hard candy for something sweet – lasts a long time and cheap.
Self defense devices, motion detecting outdoor lights. First aid supplies, small surgical supply kit, OTC meds and as many months of Rx drugs you can get your hands on that are used in your house.
Remember you will always need toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, Qtips, powder detergent, baking soda, vinegar – buy now because they’ll never be cheaper. If needed you could by years of feminine hygiene products in advance.
A good set of tools is also something everyone should have.
Super helpful. Thank you!
Excellent Listing , Lulu💐
Great suggestions, Lulu, thank you! We’re somewhat prepared, but we still have things to improve on. You mentioned a few things I had not thought of!

Hi Kitty,

We have indoor table top generators (two of them) 1kW each and I put fridge and freezer on one and heat and light on the other one. You have to know how to measure inrush – because a small heater you can only run on low or medium as they typically run on high at 1.5 kW. You’ll often see a heater that reads 750W/1500W – so you have to run those on the lower setting.
My no frills fridge and deep freeze only use up about 450 watts while running. Genset can be recharged on AC adaptor, connected to your cigarette lighter in your car, directly connected to your car battery, or via solar panel.
The site won’t let me post the link – so look up AMPROAD EPIC 1000 PORTABLE POWER STATION – in the “buy together” on Amazon you will see them advertise a foldable solar panel kit with cables for an option to recharge – but there are a few ways to recharge.
For heating my garage or an exterior well ventilated area – propane powered heaters. Propane can power your barbecue grill AND heat your area – and there are now propane tanks with fuel level sensors in them. I bought 4 tanks. The heaters I bought are a little different than this and will heat a 900 cu foot area. But you get the gist. Learn from a mistake I made – KEEP YOUR TANKS – go to somewhere like Tractor Supply where they will refill your tanks and not require a swap. I had a new tank that got swapped for a poorly sealed one and learned my lesson. And it’s less expensive to buy the fuel.

Keep matches, batteries, MEDICATIONS, light sources. When in trouble you need to be able to drink water and stay warm. We have probably close to a 2 year supply of food if push came to shove.
There are 2 of us in a 1200 sq foot single level condo style apartment.
*** VERY IMPORTANT *** in the event of a power outage and you have a genset and therefore light, refrigeration, heat, etc… KEEP YOUR SHADES DRAWN and keep the light to the interior of your home. You may not want others knowing what you have in your home. They may want what you have. Be conscious to what other people can see that you have and you do not need to tell them anything about what you have. Please.
Think about it this way – entire neighborhood is pitch black – except your house.
A few years ago we had a long power outage lasting several days. My gas generator noise attracted a lot of attention from neighbours coming by at ask to borrow gas because they ran out to a guy trying to steal my generator. I have since invested in so called “solar generators” mainly because they are quiet.
Yes, Justin, this. This is a very real issue with prepping. Never let people outside your trusted circle know what you have… and keep the trusted circle very very small.
Duck tape and thick blackout curtains can keep light from peeking through.
Thank you!!!
Re: water filter. Go to mypatriotsupply.com. They have water filtration for reasonable prices, even small portable ones.
Patriot Supply has a wide range of emergency preparedness products. There are people ready to answer the questions you posed here. You can call, if you want, and they will help you decide what fits your situation.
Sawyer filters can be cleaned. Bag of playground sand will initially clean ditch or pond water…or just time for big stuff to settle.

There are literally ya lot f prepper videos and websites. Start in the Walmart camping section for quick supplies
As a Buckeye I detest the use of that password. And it’s to close to Dearbornistan!
It has absolutely nothing to do with football. But I imagine you knew that.
I live in NJ. ‘Nuff said. How ’bout you guys?
I live in central Jersey
the local Wawa feels like it is located in downtown Lima,Peru
Illegals are all over. they hang out in local parks all day
you see them everywhere
I have noticed a huge increase of people living out of their cars/vehicles
the winter will thin the herd I hope
We should pay particular attention to high-value infrastructure targets ( reservoirs, power generation and transmission, fuel pipelines, etc.). They overwhelmed the Iron Dome system with a coordinated, simultaneous barrage of Katyusha rockets. They can do the same thing by activating and coordinating sleeper cells already here. Some targets may not be so obvious. Protect our food, water, and energy; BUT, ABOVE ALL: PROTECT YOUR FAMILY. SEMPER VIGILANTES!
Water treatment plants. Please keep potable water on hand – see my post above. I just have a bad feeling about what they’re planning to do with all that fentanyl coming over the border. It’s going somewhere. Make sure you have drinking water. When storing drinking water for long periods of time – pour it into a large bowl before drinking – it re-oxygenates it and helps with flavor.
North Central Minnesota. Been working on Enbridge Line 3 from Grand Rapids to Bagley. Wonderful little town of Nevis has a Trump store. People are displaying their Trump swag for miles in all directions. Even by Itasca State Park – Head waters of the Mississippi.
Been living out of my RV since spring. Everyone I’ve met has been fantastic. So much support for President Trump.
It is crazy how most of the state went red for President Trump, but then St. Paul, Minneapolis, Rochester and where I live — the northeast blue arrowhead — all went blue and Minnesota became a democrat state.
I live in the hell-hole part of Minnesota, where people puncture your tires if you have a Trump sticker on your car.
I’m glad the entire state is not thought of as being evil. . .

SE Michigan here. All appears calm. Dearborn has some crazies, as shown on the news, but are outnumbered by residents who are 3rd and 4th generation Iraqis and Lebanese who have found a good life here in the USA. I spoke with a Detroiter recently, while we were doing a FB Marketplace transaction in my suburb. He said he doesn’t care about Repub or Democrat, so long as the candidate loves America. He does not like Biden.
I live in a small mountain community in SW Utah. Today there were several fighter jets from Nellis AFB in Las Vegas flying low over our homes (booming, window-rattling noise level!). This is their training ground for mountain terrain. Hope that isn’t a hint of potential engagement in the ME.
Lots of increased traffic where I am. Jets at weird hours too, not when I usually have them overhead.
Been saying the same thing for about a month now.
Military planes flying low along the north shore of Lake Superior, and jets taking the same route higher up.
Same from our CG Air base near by.
Noticed more rumbling out of Lackland recently.
JBLM has a training session going on that was announced before the attack.
Sundance, I have question of clarification on the Password subject.
I am reading the password protected posts as two fold.
First, any password assigned blog initiated by you is going to be a vetted subject blog. That is before it becomes publicly available. Maybe in more real time than many are envisioning.
Basically, a subject/topic blog that allows the CHT community to post anything and its mirrored blog is the one that represents the vetted outcome of those responses.
The reason I say, this is a twofore. Since, under that working arrangement someone could post something freely(without fear) yet at the same time want to say something that should not be generally be widely circulated.
I am absolutely sure your decade and a half of running this blog has a well running DB cross referencing and indexed to IPv6 signatures and MAC device IDs.
Essentially if I was to put a finer point of tailoring, “What you have set up with this password protected content is a virtue HamRadio.
Next question…
Will the system afford the ability of direct response within the password protected content to the author of said postings as maybe required.
If so, then re-entry to the password protected blog should in theory make that exchange visible only to the response author.
Before it made public in the mirrored vetted version of the blog.
In a nut shell your password protected entry point to a given SAF blog is essentially establishing a peer to peer encrypted network ability to communicate with the outside world.
You may reword and rework this post for your audience.
No citation is needed.
Also, thank you.
I been at the CTH of what, over seven years.
I may have given pause that I am not a wolverine but surely I am a honey badger.
Surely, another understated aspect of this mechanism is the ability to document civil rights violations.
However much my previous post made a case of generalized virtue HamRadio.
Since nowhere am I under the allusion that the Calvary is riding in to save the day.
Calvary yes, cavalry no 😉

Could be an important thought.

If you don’t know the password, just search for “password” on the search box at the top of the page.
Mid-Hudson Valley here.
Nothing looks out of place yet. Friends have recently noticed homeless on the very long bike path we have through the county.
There is a muslim-owned grocery store and also a small mosque on our main drag about a half mile away. Is a strip mall type of building with bars on the windows. I do not expect any trouble, though. Our cops and State police are pretty no nonsense. There is also a larger mosque about 20 minutes away, in a rural area. Probably nothing to worry about.
Will that hold? Dunno. Neighbor is a clueless BLM fan. Lawn sign. Ugh.
I will be staying low tomorrow and watching out for bicycles and anything NOT the mailman.
I am in the same area. A bit nervous because our nearest town has recently seen an explosion of the Orthodox community which would be a natural target for crazy folk. They employ many immigrant-looking types in their local businesses. Last week I saw a worker wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with Honduras logos.
In our local Walmart, English is not the primary language. Recently, my husband asked a clerk a question and she did not speak English. A nearby shopper had to step in and translate. This is the town I was born in.
Guard your schools tonight and churches. Have your local police patrol the mosques after Friday afternoon jihadis pep talk by imams. A real president would tell Hamas this “If you try to kill a single kafir, we will nuke Mecca and Medina immediately”. This what we should have done on 9/13/01 and the WORLD would have cheered us for destroying this malignant scourge of a “religion”. 1400 years is ENOUGH!
Filling pages with empty–though sincere–community chatter will just make it harder to glean actual reports and information.
Let’s apply a little self-discipline. We already have daily threads for community and comment.
