I forgot to turn my phone off will I turn into a zombie? What? Too late?
I turned mine off, and later when I turned it back on, the alert triggered about 30 seconds later. There is no escaping it.

I did. I did turn my phone off as well. I then turned it back on. I meant that in the last sentence, which looks like I meant notifications.
We put ours in the microwave. Never received the alert. However, some people received an alert entitled “Presidential Alert”

An android phone in normal (not airplane) mode, powered down, inside a faraday bag: No alarm heard nor recorded as “missed call”.
An iphone in airplane mode and powered down BUT sitting out on a desk: Alarm heard loud and clear.

We live on our sailboat. From past experience we know that putting handheld devices in the microwave protects them. We turned one off, left one on. Put them in the microwave. Neither received the alert. We are sure we are now on another list somewhere.

that’s a good idea…when they said microwave all I could think of is forgetting my cell was there and someone pushing a button. Sometimes I’m lazy and instead of using the timer function I just push the 1 min or ??? button for timing something.

I see that some of you are stating that you turned off your phones prior to the 2:18 alert, but when you turned your phones back on you still received it. How soon after 2:20 did you turn your phones back on??
The reason I ask, is because everyone else in my office left their phones on except me, and all of them received the first alert at 2:18, however, one of my co-workers phone went off again at 2:44 with a second alert. Could it be that those of you who turned off your phones prior to the first alert, actually received the second alert because you turned your phone on immediately after the first, and what you actually received was the second one??

I had my phone off for an hour before and after. No alert at all.
It was supposed to go out at 2:20. My phone alerted at 2:18. SO I RESET all my clock’s. I am very punctual…..and OCD ABOUT TIME🤪
No alert. Even later – NO alert.
iPhone was in Airplane mode on Verizon network.
Maybe it varies between carriers, providers such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and such.
Mine kept dinging to inform me an installation was successful. Have to dig around and see if I can find and delete it.
Don’t know if it was installed today or not, but under “alerts,” national emergency alert is the only one that can’t be turned off.
I didn’t turn it off, just shoved it in my purse and left it down the hall under the bed.
I heard one go off outside, but not mine.
