(Barrons) – Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has requested a bilateral meeting with his US counterpart to discuss the migration crisis that has “overwhelmed” his country, his foreign minister said Friday.
The meeting would occur in Washington when Lopez Obrador attends a summit of Latin American leaders, to be convened by US President Joe Biden on November 3.
Lopez Obrador wants to discuss “legal paths” to address the humanitarian situation facing hundreds of thousands of people who have recently attempted to make their way to the United States and to study the ways in which they can request asylum, as well as work visas for the agricultural sector.
Mexico is being “overwhelmed” by the arrival of migrants to its territory, Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena said at a press conference during the UN General Assembly in New York.
Around 9,000 arrive at the country’s southern border every day, around 3,000 of whom have traversed the Darien Gap, a dense jungle on the border between Colombia and Panama.
Another 8,000 arrive at the northern border with the United States every day. “Yesterday 11,000 arrived,” Barcena said. “This exceeds any capacity, no matter how much Mexico wants to do a good job.”
This year Mexico expects to process 140,000 asylum applications.
“It’s overwhelming,” Barcena stated, pointing to the money she said Mexico spends to support these migrants while they apply for documents to enter the United States, find employment, or return to their countries of origin after rejection by the United States.
“We need help,” she said, urging Washington to lift sanctions on Venezuela to help curb the exodus of migrants.
She also called for action in the Darien Gap, because “it is where the largest flow of migrants” from Venezuela comes through, pushing for coordination with Panama and Colombia. (read more)

I was a very high level, high licensed soccer referee … I did U19 and U16 (mostly Hispanic) matches. Suffice to say … those kids really knew how to subtlety foul and screw with their opponents. I was refereeing one particular fractious match between two all Hispanic teams who really didn’t like each other … and the parents were even worse. One kid was persistently fouling his opposite player … so I decided to give him a verbal warming before I issued a yellow card. I was doing the kid a favor … but need to control his nasty play. So I pulled him aside and I told him “No mas!”
Well, the kid just flipped and called me a gringo bitch … who shouldn’t try to use HIS language to speak with him. That “no mas” is completely WRONG. that’s NOT how Spanish speakers would say “no more”. And that I’m a white idiot … yeah, his machismo was off the charts … so I booked him for dissent. Message somehow received … and he stopped fouling.
I played club soccer game in my teens where Maradonna was a guest player on the opposite team (he was probably about 15 or 16 at the time, as was I). I knew nothing about him, but apparently the people watching the game did. He was very highly regarded even at a very young age.
My coach (best coach ever) told me my job was to shadow this kid Maradonna and shut him down. I played center fullback, center halfback and left wing, but this game, my job was to continuously switch positions with my teammates so I was always opposite Maradonna. He switched positions about 4 or 5 times and I immediately switched as instructed by my coach. I stopped him again and again, then he started playing dirty.
I was faster than him, so he couldn’t beat me in a breakaway run toward the goal. He deftly grabbed my foot behind his back as I was passing him during a breakaway run attempt sending me face first into the turf. He had clearly practiced this move, because it was so expertly executed so the referee could not see that he had tripped me by grabbing my trailing foot for a fraction of a second.
Fortunately he did not score after taking me out. I changed my tactics after that episode. I was faster than him, so I would let him control the ball a bit ahead of me and just when he would use his foot to dribble the ball, I would kick the ball and deliberately (but legally under the rule of soccer) take his feet out, kicking him in the shins and feet every time I took the ball away. As long as I hit the ball first, it was legal.
After about 6 seriously hard shin kicks, he got much less aggressive.
My team won the game. Maradonna didn’t score a single goal, nor did anyone else on the team. The crowd that had came to watch my team get its behind kicked were quite disappointed.
At the end of the game, a group of the other team accompanied Maradonna towards me and he called me a puto, probably thinking I didn’t know what it meant (I am not a Spanish speaker, but I played against enough Spanish speakers to learn some profanity).
I laughed and said, “I shut you down, mo-$#%##.”

If you look back at the democratic presidential debates prior to 2020 election, all the nitwits were discussing the border and immigration, etc. Biden blatantly said; “We need to surge the border”, or something similar. He accidentally stated haphazardly what he and the dems official plan was. No one followed up when he was the actual candidate to question him about it. But of course he was no where to be found during summer-fall 2020. I don’t know if it was the same debate in which he said “You need to play the record player“. When everyone rolled they’re eyes.
Our government could fix this in one day, if they had any intentions of doing so. They are doing this on purpose and their goal is to destroy our country. I don’t see how anybody can come to any other conclusion. This includes the Republicans too. They’re doing NOTHING to stop this.
Why don’t they stop them at their southern border? Why assist them in getting to their northern border?
