Memorial Day customarily kicks off summer and the beer beverage industry generally looks forward to the enhanced sales that come from summer. However, if the recently published reports of Anheuser-Busch sales are accurate, which includes a stunning 60% sales drop during the holiday, the brand position of Bud Light is in freefall.
While the impacts do have a regional trend based on consumer boycotts and patterns, when the Daily Mail reports, “numbers are suffering primarily due to a decline in Bud Light sales that reached as high as a 60 percent drop off over the week that ended on Memorial Day,” we can be certain the executive offices of A/B are watching closely. The feedback from wholesalers and distributors to the parent company must be something beyond alarm.
Worse still, the forward-looking data trend doesn’t offer any hope. Things are getting worse for the parent company.
(Daily Mail) – […] For the week ending May 20, Bud Light sales across the US fell nearly 26 percent compared to the same period last year. For the week ending May 6, in-store sales plummeted 23.6 percent. And the week before that, ending April 29, sales dropped by 23.3 percent.
This follows declines in sales for the week ending April 22, which saw a 21.4 percent decline. Seven days earlier, the dip has been 17 percent, according to NielsenIQ data provided to Dailymail.com by Bump Williams Consultancy.
The data – showing that US sales of Bud Light are dropping by as much as 20 percent each week – is being uniformly viewed by industry experts as a negative trend that may not reverse itself anytime soon.
Beer Business Daily editor Harry Schuhmacher told Fox News Digital that the ‘whole industry is in shock’. (read more)
It is safe to say the Bud Light brand is now firmly connected to the image of transgender ideology. As a result, it would appear that anyone who holds a Bud Light beverage is essentially identifying themselves as a transvestite pickle-puffer, and that could potentially draw considerable side-eyes from anyone in a public place outside the region of San Francisco, California.
As further noted by the New York Post, “Demand for Bud Light over the crucial Memorial Day weekend — the official kickoff of the summer beer buying season — was lukewarm with many store shelves still holding cases of the once mighty beer, Williams said after a spot check of local stores. At least one store was trying to unload a 24-pack of Bud Light for just $3.49, according to Beer Business Daily.”
Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Michel Doukeris reportedly addressed the ongoing boycott’s impact on delivery drivers, salespeople, and wholesalers on a recent earnings call. It is a little bit odd to see A/B positioning themselves as victims of their customers.
“This situation has impacted our people and especially our frontline workers: The delivery drivers, sales representatives, our wholesalers, Bud owners and servers,” Doukeris said, according to ABC News. “These people are the fabric of our business. They are our neighbors, family members, and friends. They are in every community in America. We’ve been doing everything we can to support our teams.”
It would appear that Anheuser-Busch the corporation, are refusing to accept or acknowledge their responsibility in creating this crisis for their brand. The brand image issue was not forced upon them. These were decisions made by the marketing division of the company, and now they place blame for the consequences on their customers.
Every time, in every story, in every print and broadcast update, as the ongoing events are told or written – every visual aide that accompanies the news includes that weird guy with the Bud Light beer in his hand. This is now a bizarre marketing self-fulfilling prophecy. The articles and news telling updates to the story are now optically affirming the Bud Light brand as a beverage exclusively for transgenders.
This level of ongoing public relations failure is something for the record books. I wonder if Target Inc is paying attention.
I had a chance to talk with a beer distributor about 2 weeks after the boycott really took hold (held the door open for him when he was bringing a dolly into a Sheetz) but I figured it was temporary and didn’t want to burden his day.
now I’m looking forward to going into my regular alcohol shop and asking. Fortunately (or unfortunately lol) I have a pretty strong relationship with the staff and owner of the local shop. I think they’ll be honest with me. I’ll report back after I ask.
Just proves the point that the people in charge pushing the Rainbow Jihad have no actual support from real people. Like everything else in America, “transvestite rights” is as fake and gay as Ukraine! Covid! 81 million votes! White Supremacy! Hands up, don’t shoot! Mostly peaceful protests! Russia, Russia, Russia! WMD! And all the rest of the demoralization propaganda being spewed 24/7 to socially engineer a society of fat, lazy, entitled, illiterate, sexual deviants and drug addicts too numb and too dumb to raise any opposition.
Very well stated!
Straight young men do not want to be seen sucking on a Trans beer bottle. Running a sale won’t change that.
i liked Tucker pointing this out on his twiter message.. lies all day ..
They are in danger of losing shelf space, which will be impossible to recover.
Best news of the day!!!
Good job people paying attention and boycotting the filth!
A local liquor store had a huge display of cases of Butt Light as soon as you walked in. $17 or so for a case with a $15 mail in rebate.
This isn’t a boycott anymore than walking away from the bar when a man next to you wearing woman’s clothes wants to smooch with you is a boycott.
If you drink Bud Light, you are now identified as a member of the LBGTXYZ123 segment. Most people do not want to be identified as such.
What I find hilarious is that alphabet people don’t even drink butt lite, they drink cocktails
Tap sales are all they have and those are dropping as well
If they are smart they are looking closely at tap sales because from now to December those tap sales will dictate the future of the Budweiser brand.
I’m glad that the Bud Light and general Anheuser-Busch InBev boycott is working as it has sent a strong message that normal, grassroots people hate the establishment’s militant push of the gay and tranny agenda and can powerfully fight back by voting with their dollars.
I refuse to conform to woke language norms by using the acronym LGBTQIA+. I use the terms homosexual, gay, tranny, and occasionally even sodomite.
I abhor the establishment’s push to normalize and militantly push trannyism and homosexuality into every facet of life as well as their push for woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in general.
I hate that every mainstream news article, including those from the supposedly conservative Fox and other Murdoch owned media outlets, refers to the Bud Light tranny with female pronouns.
That is absurd as one doesn’t magically change their sex by trying to make themselves look like the opposite sex or by identifying as the opposite sex. You remain the sex you were born as for the duration of your life whether you like it or not.
It’s bizarre that the Bud Light can celebrating the tranny includes the phrase “Cheers to 365 days of being a girl,” as if one can magically turn themselves into the opposite sex.
It’s disgusting that employers, schools, and other establishment institutions expect and demand that their employees and students comply with the pronouns of choice of trannies. I will not comply with another person’s delusions about their sexual identity.
I appreciate that Sundance’s articles on the topic correctly refer to the Bud Light tranny as a male.
The Bud Light tranny is an obnoxious male who is mockingly imitating females. He should only be referred to as a male with male pronouns.
Voting with your dollars and your feet by not patronizing, affiliating with, or otherwise supporting woke institutions is important. Voting with your dollars is the most effective way to make your voice heard and to effect change.
Some oddly argue that voting with your dollars is somehow bad or not in line with conservative values which is bizarre. Supporting bad behavior with your money is what is truly bad. No one is obligated to spend money with institutions that engage in bad behavior or do not reflect one’s values.
Woke institutions falsely claim that they are somehow being attacked or victimized by people boycotting them which is wrong as no one is obligated to spend money at or to otherwise support any institution.
Part of the reason so many institutions have gone woke is that they think that the money will keep flowing in no matter what they do.
DEI is currently the dominant ideology operating within most establishment institutions including companies, schools, governments, religious institutions, and others.
Since many people naturally side with power, they feel the need to align themselves with the DEI people who hold power, even if they don’t personally agree with DEI. This is especially true when money is at stake for not playing along with the DEI garbage.
This is wrong. People need the courage to stand up for what is right and against what is wrong even if the side representing wrong is the side in power and controls the money.
The people who actually care about DEI scores are a tiny minority that shouldn’t be catered to. I’m personally seeking companies that have bad DEI scores due to them standing up to wokery.
The Bud Light tranny episode highlights that institutions oddly care more about offending woke people and organizations than offending large numbers of their core customer base.
It’s strange that the marketing executive responsible for the Bud Light tranny is still employed and on paid leave (which is a de facto vacation) despite losing millions of dollars for Anheuser-Busch InBev. Rank and file employees routinely get fired for way smaller offenses.
Maybe once A/B exec finally gets terminated (if ever), Target will hire her to finish flushing that company down the tube too!
Marketers live in a fantasy land where psychological manipulation substitutes for desirable products. Sadly it works, to a degree. We now live in a world of illusion where basic needs are ignored and the health, eventually the survival, of our species is eroding rapidly. In the 1960’s for example U.S. auto manufacturing was second to none, and the cars were often downright artistic. Then the marketers fired the engineers and the artists and produced crap, often dictated by Ivy leagued air-heads who were desperately trying to consider themselves relevant by turning every quotidian act into existential drama. The Volkswagen Rabbit and the offerings from Toyota and Honda served a lesson, but still they ignore it. Our idiotic corporate culture is antihuman because it is devoted to the idea of changing human minds through lies rather than serving human needs. The roar of mediocrity.
Exactly, you nailed it! As for myself, I walk away from the Woke companies permanently!
Gay is one of their words.
I concede your point, but I still find it better than using their ultra woke LGBTQWERTY acronym.
There have been reports of Target removing their gay and tranny merchandise or moving it from the front of the store to the back of the store due to pushback, but that unfortunately is not the case with the Targets near me in the St. Louis bi-state area, which includes East Central Missouri and Southwestern Illinois.
The Target stores around here unfortunately still have so much gay and tranny merchandise at the front entrance that it’s almost as if they have erected some sort of pagan shrine to homosexuality and trannyism.
I didn’t purchase anything on my visits to the local Targets. I just visited to ascertain how extremely they were celebrating gay and tranny pride month.
It’s bizarre to see a retail store celebrate homosexuality and trannyism so intensely and militantly.
Target is the type of store that doesn’t like to say “Merry Christmas,” but loves to shove their loud and proud homosexuality and trannyism down your throat.
I hope Target meets the fate of Bud Light / Anheuser-Busch InBev and is boycotted out of business.
I can say for sure that unfortunately it wont happen to any Target in HOCO Md . These elitist uppity Karens in this part of the universe wear the Lib ways as a badge of honor, Signs in the yards of McMansions say , love is love, blm , we use pronouns and so on and so on and the soft handed weak men that are married to them better step in line with what the karens say . It’s a shame they can breed. Feel sorry and pray for the children.
It’s strange that the upper middle class and wealthy seem to be particularly susceptible to wokism. I think it’s because their wealth shields them to a degree from reality. They also tend to have been indoctrinated by going to college.
Here in the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis, Edwardsville would be the best example of this. It’s an upper middle class and wealthy suburban enclave in a region that is otherwise generally working class and middle class.
Edwardsville become wealthier and more woke than the surrounding area due partly to the presence of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and partly to the many wealthy trail lawyers who are attracted to the area due to it being the county seat of the lawsuit friendly Madison County courts.
Edwardsville and nearby Glen Carbon are the only towns in the immediate area where there are numerous houses with yard signs stating woke things like “Hate has no Home Here,” “I believe in Science and that Love is Love,” and “Black Lives Matter.”
Nearby Kirkwood and Webster Groves are the Missouri counterparts of Edwardsville and Glen Carbon complete with the woke yard signs, only in this case SIUE is replaced with the main campus of Webster University.
Physically speaking, these are some of the most beautiful and well-kept towns in their respective areas with low crime and schools that on paper at least perform much better than average, but these areas are plagued with wokism.
Across the country, woke Karen type of people are strangely attracted to these type of towns.
The attached 2020 presidential election map broken down by precinct shows how these areas vote bluer than average.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/upshot/2020-election-map.html
I never go to Target since the insane commitment to populating their bathrooms with deviants. This one is on the women in our culture who will decide its fate. I doubt any men ever go there. It is shameful to even patronize this bizarre place.
They don’t care they are too big to fail, just like the communist democrats they would rather rule over the stinking rotting carcass of America than face any consequences
This was so easy to see. I predict the Budweiser brand will be eliminated this year.
The company has been defending the brand’s mere existence for decades now. Who knew a transgender social media influencer would accomplish what lawsuits could not?
Like many corporations, Anheuser-Busch has poked and poked the American public demanding we applaud the “brave and beautiful” trans people but now we respond, A-B is crying “foul”. Target is now in the crosshairs, and Kohl’s is starting to feel the heat.
My big issue isn’t so much Dylan Mulveny, my issue is how they are erasing women. Dylan is no more a woman than I am an astronaut. Americans are using their fiscal power; if big corporations don’t like it, too bad.
Thank you. Also my main issue although the entire attack on biology and physiology is so wrong on so many levels I can’t wrap my head around it.
People still attend and gamble on NFL and NBA. I think it is shameful to support these America hating organizations.
F&B director at a public golf course in Bend Oregon area. Entered my inventory the other day. Sold 37 aluminum bottles of bud light for the month of May. We sell alot of beer but I’m still sitting on the 8 case order I received just as this debacle started. Down to 5.5 cases. Be lucky to sell it by Labor Day if it’s not expired by then.
Just turn return to the beer route driver. Explain slow sales equal expire beer!
Yuengling
Our Beer – Yuengling
How anyone drinks Bud fails me. Was a Michelob consumer years ago, with the gold leaf top. Now it’s ULTRA, WTH?
Yuengling Golden Pilsner can replace Bud Light entirely.
Thank you. I haven’t laughed so hard in weeks.
Federal bailout coming – wait for it.
Can’t have queer beer failing niw, can we?
Ugly dude. Even uglier dudette.
“Pickle Puffer”. LOL. In all fairness though, I believe it is Blackrock doing the arm twisting to these corporations. I do feel sorry for all the downstream employees having to suffer through this through no fault of their own.
The linked article suggested that the sales people affected by the downturn are looking to go elsewhere. They should as another form of boycott, rather than support the work of a European company.
Classic…..”Pickle-Puffers”
The CEOs don’t care about profitability. They are following “Stakeholder Capitalism” model which the World Economic Forum and US Chamber of Commerce said was the new objective of business a few years ago. So corporations now operate for the benefit of BLM, climate change, butt-pirates, the federal govt apparatus, and any other woke agents but NOT for anyone dumb enough to be an investor in these companies. That’s how they get a high ESG score from George Soros and his Human Rights Campaign.
The anti-national-identity globalist agenda starts in elementary school.
Bring on the class action lawsuits form the shareholders. Maker In-Bev and Target execs FEEL the pain.
I believe that’s already started! Something to celebrate at least.
I do not always boycott products but when I do, I boycott products manufactured by businesses supporting pride months, and blm months, and supporting anti-Christian years, and well you get my drift. I am simply sick of it all.
I was a HUGE NFL fan. When the kneeling started I went cold turkey. I am now entering my seventh year of boycott. The first two years were difficult but by the third I had created a life without football and like it much better. These things can and must be done. Teach these loonies a lesson. No better way than withholding your attention and dollars.
Exactly! As I also left the sports behind. I could not support any teams that could take a knee! I have saved more money, more time and lost 10 lbs.
I would have made it 3 years or is it four, but ended up watching the SB, my previous favorite team was in in it and I wanted to hang with old friends. The half time show sealed the deal. I won’t be watching another NFL game ever.
Don’t waist cooler space bud light.
Put it outside the store along with the flowers and the returned shopping carts.
It should be emphasized that people have not stopped drinking beer, nor have I heard it said they are drinking less. Rather they are drinking rivals’ offerings. We live in a beer glut, with thousands of truly delicious offerings local and national. Bud light is a compromise of sorts in that it’s flavor is merely unobjectionable, but not good. Not hard to find replacements.
The employees of this moribund failure are / will be invited to serve more successful offerings who will need workers to supply their increased demand. This is how it is supposed to work. Stupidity should be punished.
The Rainbow Coalition gets beer and Pride Parades. The Sodomites got fire and brimstone. Will the Sodomites of Bible generation have to burn twice once then and once again on Judgement Day? while the Trans of our generation get beer and bubble baths?
Love the smiles I get while watching the show theses days.
I wonder how long it will be before A-B files for damages against Heinersheid.
Or, even more likely, asks for a bail-out.
How many of so-called “fabric of our business,” the frontline workers: The delivery drivers, sales representatives, our wholesalers, Bud owners and servers,” were consulted about the advertising, or anything else related to this decision, or any other corporate decision affecting the job security and paychecks of these suddenly oh-so important people?
What a crock.
I was working on an AC system for a liquor store in MD last Friday and I know the owner pretty good, he is an Indian fella. I asked him if he’s selling any Bud Light and he said no, and he’s not even getting any in any more.
It’s not so much that people think others will see them as trans if they drink Bud, more like people are so against the push to normalize transgenderism, they are looking for any way to express it and Bud Light stepped up and literally said, ‘Hold My Beer.’
Our government will probably give them a bailout before they tank.
Look closely at the banks. They are behind all of this. This is not a defense of woke companies but it seems obvious. The banksters are the root of the evil. We need to take them down.
My suscpicious cat stays suscpicious.
We don’t trust Fox, right?
But Fox is the one heralding the losses of Target and Bud Light. Why? What does Fox gain by this?
Building trust so we read and trust Fox come election time (when Lucy pulls the football back again?)
I can’t belive these companies would continue doing the stupid woke antics if they were REALLY losing that money permanently. There is an attempted manipulation here, I believe. I just can’t connect it all
Waiting for the joyous annual Anhauser -Busch tv commercials of the powerful Clydesdale horses pulling a large sleigh, kicking up silent snow n unison with the joyous sound of sleigh bells, was never a “beer ad.” It was a slice of life, long passed to most of us, that brought happiness. A chance to see the Clydesdales in person, was a treat for young and old.
Ads that toast whacking parts off of people, or pretending to add some, & expecting to make a hit with those who loved the horses & adhere to the value of “keeping it in your own pants” have spoken. Keep your gender nightmares out of our homes, and far, far away from our children.
