House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appears on Fox News Sunday to defend his deal with Joe Biden for a debt ceiling increase.
In the past 24 hours many fiscal conservatives have criticized McCarthy for the terms of the agreement. In this interview, McCarthy walks through the details of the terms as he constructed them and pushes back against some of the criticism. WATCH:

Penalty for violation: 10 yrs in prison of the perp & confiscation of ALL the employee/family assets.

I looked it up. His very first pledge was to defund thr $80B and 87000 new IRS agents. He pledged to get it done in the first two weeks.

In late April the House passed the GOP’s budget bill which had a list of cuts and spending reductions in return for a one year limited raising of the debt celing by 1.5 trillion. That bill enabled the GOP to have another go at spending cuts next year. AND it included defunding the 87,000 new IRS agents.
Very little of the GOP April bill survived McCarthy’s negotiations with Biden. And McCarthy locked the deal in for two years instead of one. So the GOP has no more leverage thru the end of their term. Might as well go home now.
Oh and McCarthy also caved on the Student Loan Forgiveness which remains in the budget. Still the Supreme Court is expected to rule soon, so perhaps the court will come thru.
And all the green new deal programs and pork remain, chugging along well funded.

The GOP had simply refused to consider ANY debt ceiling Bill that did not include everything Trump wanted and everything the MAGAs want? Current spending will simply have to be diverted to interest payments to avoid default.

Was not just the US but the entire world financial system 24hrs from collapse back in 08 unless the $787 billion Porkulus Bill was passed? And didn’t the system NOT collapse when it eventually took Congress 2 weeks to avoid a 24 hr catastrophe….?

—FBI funding in last year’s Omnibus included additional funds to expand their hunting down of people tied to J6. The FBI says the funds enable them to hunt down and arrest double the number of J6ers, another 1000 I believe. And McCarthy left this funding in the budget.
—UKRAINE funding continues unchecked.
McCarthy passed a GOP budget bill in late April and chucked it to cave to Biden. Worse — instead of a one year budget agreement, McCarthy locked us in for two years thru the end of the term of the GOP controlled House.
The Budget is the GOP House’ s only point of power and if it passes –heard the vote is Wednesday –then the House members might as well go home. The term is essentially over.

The Bureau of the Budget was created in 1921 and since then has submitted the president’s Budget every year (renamed under the Carter budget process changes as OMB). The only other significant change was moving the fiscal year back from 1 July to 1 Oct.
“Budget” is just a term of art for a process that was implemented under Carter to limit the power of the Appropriations Committees by creating separate “Budget Committees” to oversee the process. The real problem is that in recent years Congress (primarily Senate Democrats) have refused to pass regular appropriations bills, preferring to roll most of them into “Omnibus” bills.

I was noticing a while back that 2010 was the year when the Social Security “surplus”, that had been borrowed out yearly from the “lockbox” to offset the general budget deficit since 1968, came to an end.
And lo and behold, that was the year when the budget office/Obama decided that the $1T 2009 ARRA/”stimulus” would be added into the 2010 baseline budget (increasing our spending by 25% with no lawful authorization).
So Congress got a replacement slush fund to make sure they can continue to deficit spend forever. That was the year we started running trillion-dollar deficits forever…And it’s STILL NOT ENOUGH.
Kinda coincidental, yes?

Then in December 2024 McCarthy will pass another budget bill that will Lock in Spending for 2 more years through 2026. We have seen this rodeo before.

I seem to have missed the updates from Trump on how great McCarthy is doing in fighting for MAGA and America first policies.
It’s no point of power at all. The idea that the requirement that bills for raising revenue must originate in the House creates some special “power” is just not how the system works.
And yet it was designed to protect the purses of the people. But back then, there were no income taxes.
We revolted over total tax at 3%.
Don’t forget the WHO! Is McCarthy forgetting to cut the monies for the WHO? Is he going to allow Biden to sign away our sovereignty to China through the WHO?
