House Speaker Kevin McCarthy appears on Fox News Sunday to defend his deal with Joe Biden for a debt ceiling increase.
In the past 24 hours many fiscal conservatives have criticized McCarthy for the terms of the agreement. In this interview, McCarthy walks through the details of the terms as he constructed them and pushes back against some of the criticism. WATCH:

I have never trusted this guy McCarthy, so I will wait till this deal is posted and I read it and understand it…but I still won’t put my trust in him for he uses too many weasel words in my book.
I hope I’m wrong and this is a good deal for America and not just one side or one group.

Egads…100 pages of legal wrangling where government structures are left intact, yet modified in specific ways from which further government control continues with some modifications. Whoopee, it’s almost a done deal.
About 10 to 15 years ago, while reading about early Rome, I read this section on the Theodosian Code created during the 5th century. Asked my number 2 son to find this book in the local university library and bring it home, which he did.
A large book, one of those 9″by 14″ type books. Had been on the library shelves for many years, a heavy book too. I noted that it had been checked out of the library only 3 times prior to my son’s request…sad, yet interesting . It looked new, yet it was an old book.
As I opened and scanned the many pages, it was immediately apparent how complex these laws were! I sensed a “micro management” reality running through these laws. I was stunned at the many particulars and wondered if this kind of gaming was partly responsible for the deterioration of the Roman Empire. So many minute details were commanded.
While reading this “budget deal” my mind recalled those laws in the Theodosian Code. I sensed a similarity was at play, that goes way beyond what my insurance company sends me from time to time regarding changes in my policies.
In other words, I think the deck chairs have just been re-arranged as our Ship of State sails forward into the abyss!

The House just recently voted to withdraw funding for the additional IRS agents (the unaccountable private police/military force of another federal government agency). This new deal that McCarthy is attempting to sell appears to have negated that vote and nullified the House’s Constitutional power regarding budgetary legislation.

Rand Paul and Chip Roy are both promoting a new Constitutional Convention a la Mark Meckler’s Convention of States. Quite obviously, they’ve never read Article V because Meckler, who is funded by the Koch brothers’ organizations, claims they can bypass Congress. But Article V makes it clear that a convention cannot be called, convened, or opened and bypass Congress. Also, what if Congress decides they’ll choose the delegates from each state? Can you imagine Schumer and WEF member McCarthy’s choices? The brilliance of our original 1787 Constitution would be destroyed and we’d end up with privileges granted by the feds.
We don’t change the 10 commandments because they’re not obeyed…nor marriage vows.
Kalleigh, I want to graciously correct your assessment of Convention of States. There are opposition groups who have spread unfounded and incorrect rumors. I have done deep research and speak directly with state legislators on this topic regularly. COS is not funded by the Koch Brothers. They would have no interest in the work of COS. It is a bi-partisan grassroots organization ONLY that works with some of the top Constitutional attorneys in the country. Below is a portion of a letter I wrote to my state legislator last week. Please do not spread any more terrible rumors about something you know little about. Take the time to read the history of the framers and understand the gift they entrusted to citizens in Article V. Also watch the couple of videos I will provide below and look at the documentation.
What does Article V actually say?
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress.
Article V outlines two ways to propose Amendments
1) Congress led amendments– Two thirds of both houses of Congress propose constitutional amendments
2) Citizen led amendments – Two thirds of state legislatures approve resolutions to call a convention
State legislatures submit their resolutions to Congress to be counted and confirm that 34 will aggregate.
A word of explanation: Aggregation is critical. Resolution wording must be similar enough to avert congressional and judicial scrutiny or it cannot be included in the 34 state count. Convention of States is the only nationwide grassroots organization to create original language designed to aggregate. Historical precedence has established that resolution wording sets the agenda during a convention therefore nothing outside of the three subjects will be permitted. For example, the second amendment is not germane to the three subjects and thus not permissible. Fears of a runaway convention are historically unfounded. The only role of Congress / One State – One Vote
Article V tells us the only involvement of Congress is to set the time and place and then issue a call to the States. States independently choose delegates and each state gets one vote regardless of the number of delegates sent.
When the convention adjourns, proposed amendments are returned to the states for ratification by one of two methods, as determined by the states.
1) By the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States
2) Through Conventions in three fourths of the several States. As you can see the process is designed to bypass the the federal congress.

I believe it was in the omnibus bill late last year that the FBI got a funding bump that included additional funds to expand their operation against J6ers. They want to double the number of arrests going forward. McCarthy left that funding in the budget.
