I’m not sure President Trump disagrees all that much with Kennedy except maybe he would want to argue a position on the vaccines. But I think that discussion is not an “opinion” discussion. It is a fact discussion and should be argued by people with a background in the facts, for example, maybe Dr. Malone and Faucci or Kennedy a d Faucci. The only problem is Faucci doesn’t debate. He just spews propaganda.
I’d like to see debate become the norm when government is making decisions. When the 20 in the House spoke up this year as part of choosing a Speaker it was said they wanted open debate on everything in the House. Do you remember people saying it should be on C-Span? That kind of debating would be excellent.
I would like to see President Trump debate whoever the democrat candidate is. I don’t think there is any need for debate with the republicans who think they are running for President but that is for President Trump to say if he thinks the format can be set up to be fair, which the current plan that he spoke against was not.

to fix the mess we are in. But no dems would be willing to debate him on that.

You are correct Sundance in that the people who make these kinds of decisions make them out of fear (or as an emotional weakness that it is often perceived or felt). You are also correct in assessing that the reaction to this perceived weakness (or fear as you have categorized it although it is probably both) is to control it and so the best way to control that weakness/fear is to lever the operational constructs that allow them to change their surroundings or environment that create that fear. So the removal of a valuable asset (akin to sacrificing a queen in chess) is a sign of both your opponents fear and or desperation but may also be part of a larger long term strategy. In this case the long term benefit or strategy is less apparent but if we step back and assess from a distance it may become apparent. Time will tell.
