If you ever wanted to know how influential billionaire donors and the professional grift is amid the pro-life movement, this is a case study in the insanity of it.

President Trump outlined the platform policy of returning the issue of abortion to the states, and constructed all political endeavors to deliver on that pledge. President Trump was the first president to speak at the March for Life events in Washington DC and hold pro-life supporting events at the White House.
Additionally, President Trump appointed three conservative pro-life judges to the Supreme Court, with the intention of overturning the Roe -v- Wade decision and returning the issue of abortion to the states. This was and is the conservative position, and the goal of the pro-life movement as it was articulated. In 2022, in the Dobbs decision, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of overturning Roe -v- Wade and the abortion issue was successfully return to the states as promised.
Since entering politics, the position of candidate Trump and then President Trump has never changed. It is the same federalist position he holds today as outlined by the Washington Post:

However, Lila Rose, President and Founder of the Live Action network, is now deriding President Trump because he does not support reinstituting federal control over the issue of abortion and campaigning on a non-federalist platform of a nationwide abortion ban.
Apparently, Lila Rose is supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently used the Supreme Court decision, ironically made possible by President Donald Trump, to construct a 6-week abortion ban law in Florida. Oddly enough, a legislative outcome Ron DeSantis is also not promoting as part of his “book tour” and national stealth campaign.
Ms. Rose, in her official capacity as president of the Live Action organization appears to be influenced by the same billionaire donor class funding that supports the candidacy of Ron DeSantis. Despite President Trump delivering the results of the pro-life movement, Mrs. Rose is now deriding the President who delivered the outcome of her advocacy, saying it -and he- was just not good enough.
Example – In January 2018, President Donald Trump spoke to pro-life supporters from the Rose Garden at the White House which was shown live on video at the 45h annual March for Life. President Trump’s speech marked the first time in the event’s history that a sitting president had addressed the crowd live via video feed. Try to find a picture of Ron DeSantis attending the Washington DC March for Life event and you will not find one. He never attended. There is a logical argument jump here that pro-life activists need to not jump over, and that is to explain why the unborn child should be recognized as a legal person — and when (preferably without making a religious argument that won’t do it for people who, e.g. believe that a soul comes into the body upon first breath, or, e.g. are without religion.)

Personally, I think the argument against relegating the mother of an unwanted baby as “livestock” is the fact that, in most cases, the mother invited/created or consented to the actions which put the unwanted baby in her womb. Likewise, there is no loss of the woman’s reproductive rights because she had the right to not have the baby in her womb prior to its creation.
Just as the law protects persons who are born from murder after they are born because the woman wants to exercise control over her life, so should the person in the womb receive protection.
This argument does not address cases of rape, of course. But it does address the majority of abortions.
It took amendments to the Constitution to recognize blacks as “persons” and women as persons allowed to vote. Those amendments were supported by state legislatures. Maybe more work needs to be done at the state level to formalize the recognition of babies in the womb as “persons” under the law.

I feel that both sides of this debate have failed miserably in understanding the importance of what happened. For half a century mealy-mouthed politicians have used Roe as a political “hot button” issue to flame the peoples emotions, never intending to cast the opinion into stone by passing it as law, only intending to use it as leverage to gain votes. Vote For Me! they all exclaim, And I will protect your sacred opinion! Vote For Me! and I will destroy this thing you hate! All the while they intend to do neither as it takes away their ability to stir emotion. Placing this in the hands of the states takes away that ability to gain votes based on emotion.
If people want to be pro-life, fine. If they want to be pro-choice, fine. What’s important to remember now is that we, the people, have the strongest voice at the state level, and practically no voice at the federal level. Now is the time for the people, in their individual states, to establish law as they see fit. Some states may outlaw abortions, some states may make them legal. Whatever the outcome it’s up to the people in their own states to decide. As for Trump’s position, it speaks volumes to his character and integrity.

You know, I will be the first to admit that I am in the mushy middle on this issue. I hate late term abortion, but realize that first trimester is tough. I signed on to pro life and overturning Roe because the only way to change hearts and minds and to build a consensus is to do it state by state. Lila has a great case to make state by state and can save unborn baby lives doing just that. Instead she wants a federal abortion law? No! If any of us are murdered, our killers are not prosecuted by the Feds but by the state in which the murder occurs. Murder laws and punishments vary. There are reasons why we have a Constitution, Bill of Rights, and defer most criminal law to the states. Lila needs to read the Constitution and be grateful states have more authority to save baby lives.
Problem is she is being completely disingenuous. Her De$antis love is speaking far more loudly than her pro-life advocacy.
Just like Ron!, she took the money, cashed the check, and did the secret handshake. This is an attempt to fool the evangelicals over to Team Ron.

It was a good thing that I was too busy nurturing my three children to engage in public disputes. I can relate to the impatience expressed with the many excuses and empty justifications for the murder of unborn souls decade after decade.
President Trump boldly reasoned with citizens about the generations lost to us giving us words to push back against the deceitful narratives peddled by merchants of death.
