We loaded a CERT toolbox trailer yesterday that is heading to Mississippi to assist as recovery efforts get underway. Samaritan’s Purse is now on the ground in two locations, Rolling Fork and Armory [Register to Volunteer Here] Any Treepers in the impact zone check in and feel free to provide updates on the ground events that relate to your area.
(Via Fox News) – Help began pouring into one of the poorest regions of the U.S. after a deadly tornado tore a path of destruction for more than an hour across a long swath of Mississippi, even as furious new storms Sunday struck across the Deep South.
At least 25 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in Mississippi as the massive storm ripped through more than a half-dozen towns late Friday. A man was also killed in Alabama after his trailer home flipped over several times.
“Everything I can see is in some state of destruction,” said Jarrod Kunze, who drove to the hard-hit Mississippi town of Rolling Fork from his home in Alabama, ready to help “in whatever capacity I’m needed.”
[…] The storm hit so quickly that the sheriff’s department in Rolling Fork barely had time to set off sirens to warn the community of 2,000 residents, said Mayor Eldridge Walker.
“And by the time they initiated the siren, the storm had hit and it tore down the siren that’s located right over here,” Walker said, referring to an area just blocks from downtown. The mayor said his town was devastated.
“Sharkey County, Mississippi, is one of the poorest counties in the state of Mississippi, but we’re still resilient,” he said. “We’ve got a long way to go, and we certainly thank everybody for their prayers and for anything they will do or can do for this community.”
[…] Following Biden’s declaration, federal funding will be available for recovery efforts in Mississippi’s Carroll, Humphreys, Monroe and Sharkey counties, including temporary housing, home repairs, loans covering uninsured property losses and other individual and business programs, the White House said in a statement.
The twister flattened entire blocks, obliterated houses, ripped a steeple off a church and toppled a municipal water tower.
Based on early data, the tornado received a preliminary EF-4 rating, the National Weather Service office in Jackson said in a tweet. An EF-4 tornado has top wind gusts between 166 mph and 200 mph.
In Rolling Fork, the tornado reduced homes to piles of rubble and flipped cars on their sides. Other parts of the Deep South were digging out from damage caused by other suspected twisters. (read more)

Dear God, please bring the residents and families of those in the Mississippi area to Your throne of comfort. The shock and pain is unimaginable as they anguish over the loss of their town, their homes, their sense of normalcy and possibly their loved ones.
Father of mercy and comfort wrap Your loving arms around them. Hold them close. Help them to breathe and overcome the choking knot of despair in their throat. Raise them, strengthen them, provide assurance for them. Help the victims to see forward. Dear Lord please provide wisdom and strength to the leaders of every community.
Please God, provide strength for their continued faith in You through this horrific destruction. Lavish them with Your love and fill the void of loss in their hearts.
In Jesus’ powerful name, I believe and pray.
Amen.
Prayers for the people of Mississippi. Be careful out there everyone. It’s that time of year when this kind of weather happens when you least expect it.
Convoy of Hope from Springfield Missouri was on the road within hours of the devastation with multiple trucks containing food, water and supplies.
These two rural counties in Mississippi – as poor as the state already is – are the poorest in a poor state, according to a report I just read.
So, yes, support a religious charity.
Yes, you are right.
There was one gentleman interviewed on the radio, he spoke to the enormous number of trailer type homes, totally gone.
I wish the states would do something about allowing that type of living structure…rather than giving the pipsqueak in Ukraine our hard owned money, Fruedian slip but I will leave it as typed….the states get grant money…what do they do with it???
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME!
I don’t see a lot of Uniparty trying to get legislation passed at the local, state or federal levels, for the people who don’t have a safe home or cannot afford one…forget those that wilfully live on a street in a tent…am of the opinon that is their choice?
We remain the richest nation in the world, next to Ukraine maybe, there is no reason for people to live in such poverty.
While the illegals live in luxury at 5-star hotels – which they trash.
WE are not the “richest nation in the world” and that perpetuated false narrative greatly exacerbates the problem.
Our whole financial system is a collapsing house of cards, a giant Ponzi scam, and the perpetrators KNOW it is collapsing, and so are pulling their wealth out while they can.
Mobil homes are a great way for lower income workers who must move around to the various locations their jobs take them to. In the lower income levels jobs are not career opportunities. They are places to make some money and those jobs are usually fairly temporary. In the milder Western USA climates, having a home you can move around with can be the key to staying financially afloat.
Trailers do suffer the worst damage in places where hurricanes and tornadoes are commonplace because they aren’t built on foundations. But that can be a big advantage to some people.
I am praying for everyone, who was in the path of that storm, to be able get their lives back to normal.
In that area, there are families (mostly black) in multigenerational poverty and welfare. It never gets better, because of high welfare use, & low education.
These people will not have insurance on their homes, and will expect FEMA to rebuild. At our expense.
You hit the nail on the head and it bent. There is no focus on affordable, safe housing in this nation. Those small houses, built out of brick line the highways and back streets of American. Most of them came about after WWII. Then someone thought that metal trailers could yield a better profit and they slapped them down everywhere.
Then came VBRO and AirBnB. The average man could get rich buying up all the houses when they became vacant. Now we have real homes that sell for over $500,000 and young people can’t afford that, especially in Biden’s economy. They are living in camps and with parents if they are lucky enough to have a garage or basement that provides shelter. 3rd world….let me say it again, THIRD WORLD!!!
Most emphatically, the two-tier judicial system of late under the Democrat party!
God bless our poorest of the poor during this catastrophic time!🙏🇺🇸💕
Mississippi isn’t poor. We just have some sinister people in government who allow poverty to exist while the state tax dollars grow by the millions and millions each year. I can’t blame them for the weather, but I do blame them for working harder at raising the highest level of money this state has ever had and not using it wisely. I also can’t understand why industry can’t be attracted to those parts of the state that need it most. Heck we are getting millions from the Federal Government and it goes mainly to Colleges and Universities – For what?
Mississippi is used to having a history of being poor, but it is not poor anymore. We just have counties that are neglected or they are still caught up in another time and can’t move forward. Go figure.
Some unsavory politics is taking place in Jackson, MS. Making it a better place to live in the rural areas is not their priority.
Amen
Prayers for all
Just donated to Samaritan’s Purse. Prayers to all who were lost and suffering.
Donated
Thank you. I have volunteered with them. They pray with the homeowners, have trained councelers to talk with the owners about the work and help with sorting out belongings. At the end, the volunteers sign a dedication page in the front of a Bible given to the home owner. They do everything including picking up, bagging and hauling trash from the property. They will come from everywhere and include teenagers, older people and some church groups. Some are trained and some just want to work and work hard. It is a blessing to help.
And it’s easy to compare their diligence, care, and efficiency to the lazyass govt workers who are there to show up and just hand out money.
Amen.
Divert 10% of the foreign aide allocated for Ukraine to Mississippi…...AMERICANS COME FIRST!
And another 10% to Ohio for their continued suffering up there in the Palestine area.
I’ll 2nd your motion and move to vote!

How sad for the injured and the families of the dead, and for all of those now homeless people.
Unfortunately, Joe Bastardi of Weatherbell reported on his Saturday Summary that the stage is set for another round of tornadoes next week, as a surge of cold air from the northwest clashes with the warmth of the south.
It is not any comfort to know that Mississippi has had much worse tornado death tolls in the past, despite lower population, but at least we can be certain that human caused “climate change” did not cause increased activity.

When Joe Bastardi makes a prediction, everyone needs to listen.
I wonder?.. if they found out the weather is manufactured, the racism charges would fly and the truth would finally come out
Possibly shooter in Nashville.
They’re scrubbing social media already.
Whoops. I apologize for posting this in the wrong thread.
Thought I was in the daily.
Amen and Amen.
It’s miraculous the toll isn’t higher.
Very fortunate. Luckily, many were able to get to some type of minimal shelter. And Mississippi is the least densely populated state east of the Mississippi River.
Lord have mercy.
I am on the Board of a Christian ministry, The Liquid Legacy, based out of Memphis. We mostly work with mission trips including medical teams in Peru and now in the Abacos (Hurricane Dorian) bringing clean water filtration systems to communities that have no access to clean water or have long term unsanitary living conditions. We build some awesome multi-family bathrooms too.
We just spend Friday/Saturday in strategic planning sessions. One our plans/directions for the future is to get into local or regional crisis response and management through our clean water systems. Our founder/director left this morning to head down to the area. Please do pray for everyone involved & that our organization may also be of assistance & learn more too.
God Bless.
Bless you and all the others who unfailingly help those in need. Many thanks.
If you live in Tornado Country, you need a Basement, or a place to go underground and ride out the Terror.
I live in FILTHY LIBERAL Ontario Canada, and we get a few each year, and it seems almost every house in Canada has a basement, unless you live on rocks.
There is no safe place above ground during a Tornado, witness this destruction. Please Pray for the People who live there, and the families of the Dead and Suffering.
I grew up in Ohio in a house with a basement but now live in MS in a house without one. There are 2 primary reasons why houses down here don’t have basements. One is because the soil is clay and extremely hard and expensive to dig. The other is because the water table is very high so you don’t have to dig down far to hit water. I wish I had a basement but I understand why I don’t
TY, Sundance for your beautiful prayer,… more heavy storm weather is hitting SE Louisiana and SW Mississippi tonight on 3/27/’23 at 11:15 pm,… about 40 miles North of me/Dr. DaPic. Tornadic winds at night are the worst,… no warning until you hear the train coming thru.
When I first watch the news coverage of the “mile wide” tornado, I was stunned.
When I heard that our friends knew the family that had a tractor trailer sit down on top of a couple’s home, killing the couple inside, I knew it had to be one bad, terribly bad storm.
Having a tornado of that magnitude can lead on to believe that geo-engineering might be at work here, or is it God, or is it just Mother Nature. Or, is this the evidence of something even more sinister? I have been living over 70 years and never before have I seen destruction of this magnitude become common. Not long ago, I did read a believable article about man messing with the atmosphere. Please God, tell me that isn’t the cause.
These tornadoes were natural. These storms are prevalent in the South every Spring. They can be violent and cause extreme damage, especially in areas with poor building standards and mobile homes. Despite the excellent warning system developed by the National Weather Service, which warned of these storms days before, people with no television, computers, or mobile phones may not hear about the problem until it is too late. The warnings sirens were activated after the storm was already there and there was no nearby tornado shelters.
