Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has conceded defeat after coming in third place in the election. Lightfoot makes history as the first Chicago mayor in 40-years to lose her first effort at reelection.
(CHICAGO) — Mayor Lori Lightfoot conceded defeat Tuesday night, ending her efforts for a second term and setting the stage for Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson to run against former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas for Chicago mayor.
A visibly shaken Lightfoot conceded the race just before 9 p.m. and said she will be “rooting and praying for our next mayor to deliver for the people of the city for years to come.” – WATCH:
“Obviously, we didn’t win the election today, but I stand here with my head held high and a heart full of gratitude,” Lightfoot said, highlighting how the city emerged from a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and made “real progress on public safety.”
The Associated Press just before 9 p.m. called the race for Johnson, who in addition to defeating Lightfoot also outmuscled U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García.
Johnson’s victory sets up an ideological battle with Vallas over the future path of the nation’s third-largest city. The two will face off in five weeks on April 4. (more)

I could go on for hours about Precinct captains. The Daly machine was truly a machine, tuned and oiled by Precinct captains. Buying votes in the 80s/90s was dangerous, but buffet lines in rooms adjoining or across the hall from the voting booths was common n everyone got their palm card as they went to vote. Palm cards told them how to vote. In the wealthier Precincts, captains didn’t have to provide food bec 70% of the voters were related to the 30% that worked for the city or Cook county. And you weren’t a Precinct captain for more than 2 cycles if you didn’t deliver 100% participation.

Johnson was very much riding the fence when asked about the retail store crime. He blamed it on corporate greed and their obscene high profits. I hope Vallas has a great campaign manager, he’ll need it.

Chicago has become an absolute nightmare. The once beautiful city is a dump. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago. No one in the suburbs goes into Chicago anymore. If they absolutely have to, they go into the city, do what they have to do and get the hell out as fast as they can. The magnificent stores of the past have left, the Bears want to leave, and Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks was traded to the Rangers. There is no reason to go to Chicago. None.

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and the horror show is already making its presence felt. The disease of liberal policies has already metastasized into our neighborhoods and schools. Soon it will be taking up residence in a Chicago suburb near you. Biden is busy continuing with Obama’s plans for anyone who dared to work and get out of the cities. The rampant crime and welcoming arms to large homeless populations living on the streets is designed to discourage families from remaining in major metropolitan areas. Families then move to the suburbs, leaving cities with the budget, power, and status of being a major metro center (and often capital of the state), but no longer having to worry about that pesky accountability to the voters, who often demand livable spaces free of crime. It is a brilliant strategy to minimize the populace of engaged voters who cared about their communities. Drug trafficking and other crime proliferates. Funds to maintain streets and keep cities clean is diverted. Migrants and first-generation individuals are allowed to become the citizenry because they do not complain about the quality of life nor have the ability to organize or demand a better quality of life since it is a new ecosystem for them. Notice how this occurs in every city run that is run via one-party rule of democrats and this one-party rule is unchallenged for decades.

Don’t know anything about Brandon Johnson. But Paul Vallus was a beast when he was put in charge of the Chicago schools. He hired a firm that did inventory for grocery stores to inventory all the school district’s schools and warehouses. They found 15 pianos that schools have been requesting for years, 10M rolls of TP, etc. He eliminated school dist trades members, put a bid process in place for contracted repairs and improvements. He found ghost employees throughout the school system.
Once Mayor Washington died, the teacher’s union made sure he was the first to go.

What she should have said was she IS “an incompetent black woman living in the US”.
