Let me qualify this post and question by saying this is something I have wanted to ask and write about for quite a while. I often ask this question to people I meet in general life discussion, and I am very interested to hear every response. Today is a great day to ask this…
Think back… So, you are living your life, doing what you and everyone familiar to you are doing in the ordinary and regular way of living your specific life.
Perhaps you paid some attention to the political comings and goings of things, perhaps not.
Perhaps like most comfortably invisible people you were just putting one foot in front of the other, and generally doing the day-to-day things that most would consider ordinary.
Then one day, for some unknown and likely not that consequential reason, something caught your attention. Something piqued your curiosity; perhaps you noticed something you wouldn’t ordinarily have noticed. Perhaps you heard something, or saw something, or were just in a situational space where something itched your brain as you looked at something, heard something or noticed something that just didn’t quite fit or sit right.
Perhaps that little something, or big something, caused you to look just a little bit closer at the story, event or moment with a little more curiosity than before. Perhaps you dug into that specific moment with a little more than a side-eye glance, and you noticed something. After looking at it a little closer, you realized that construct was not at all what it appeared to be on the surface.
From that moment forward, for the first time, you really started to question the ‘thing’ that was in front of you, and from that moment forward, you woke up to recognize that things around you, things you perhaps didn’t pay attention to before, were not what you thought they were. It was from this moment when you really started to pay attention and your political awakening began.
Question: When was that moment for you?
I am always amazed at the replies I get in real life to this question of when the individual awakening began.
For some it was at an early age, for others much later in life. For some it was recently, and for others it was a long time ago. However, for everyone there was that moment when it started, and it is completely unique to the individual.
So, on this day, Sunday February 19, 2023, a generally innocuous day in the grand scheme of things, I pose this question to everyone.
Yes, even all the CTH lurkers who read here and never join the conversation. The comment section is open for all replies with the general rules of on-line decorum still standing. Us old schoolers still use the early internet standards of on-line discussion, and CTH requests polite and civil conversation that enlightens, expands thinking and uplifts the audience.
I am genuinely curious and will be reading every reply because it’s really cool to see what that “moment” was for each person. I’m pretty sure the entire CTH community will also enjoy reading the unique replies to the question.
We all travel a different path. We all come from different, likely comfortably invisible, life experiences. And we all merge into this big melting pot of curious people who are looking deeply at the issues we face. Regardless of how each of us arrived here, the larger dynamic is that we likely share a common curiosity for the reality of our situation. It’s a safe bet to say that almost everyone reading this is in the top-tier of “high information” consumers.
My question is not what arrived you at The Conservative Treehouse, but rather what the moment was when you began looking around and realizing that things just didn’t seem to add up. That’s the origin of the journey. That’s the moment I am inquiring about.
Perhaps it’s a weird way of looking at CTH, but our fellowship is always what has been the most important aspect to this little corner of the internet. It’s not the content of the Treehouse, but the conversation on the porch that matters. You, the readers, friends, people who assemble here, are the important element. Not me and not the site admins.
That’s genuinely the way I have always looked at our fellowship, and that’s also the reason for every detail I put into keeping this little corner of the internet standing.
So, with that in mind, what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?
Love to all,
~ Sundance

ruby ridge. I was in the USN at the time, and there were pilots saying they could solve the problem with one bombing run.
“wait…you would solve a police problem with military aircraft and dropping bombs on people? this guy just wants to be left alone, and they killed his wife for it!”
“they gave him an order and he should have OBEYED” was the usual answer I got. it didn’t sit right with me at all. weren’t we told to not obey unlawful orders, and that the military should stay out of politics and law enforcement?
after I got out I was at the Sweeney Siege in Hamilton,MA. the man was losing his house because he won in state court, but an hour before he won the mortgage was transferred to the FDIC..and the FDIC doesn’t care what a state court says. never mind that the judge played golf with the regional director of the FDIC the day before, and the board of directors of the FDIC was, to a man, the board of the directors of the mortgage company that was trying to steal mr..sweeney’s house. eventually the federal marshals came and took the family out of the house.
the whole thing was corrupt to the core, and no one cared. all the neighbors knew was if they kept thier head down they thought it wouldn’t happen to them.
that’s how this stuff continues. if we keep our head down, we think it won’t come for us. until it does.
My first vote for President was proudly for Barry Goldwater. Need I say more?
NOT my first vote – but so did I – My very first vote was for JFK (first and only dem one)
“…that’s how this stuff continues. if we keep our head down, we think it won’t come for us. until it does.”
There’s a lesson to be learned here.
The FBI is a renegade, out of control, criminal organization no different than the Mafia, except it has more power.
Remember that commercial about how the Army gets more things done than you do before 9:00 AM?
Before 9:00 AM, Your average FBI Agent gets up, suborns perjury, alters official documents (302’s), destroys evidence under subpoena, withholds exculpatory evidence, hides Brady Material, lies under oath to the court, lies under oath to Congress, ignores the 4th amendment and supplies ex nihilo, out of whole cloth, phony evidence then initiates with no predicate, investigations into perceived enemies of the D 卐 M ☭ CRAT party, conduct pre-dawn raids on “dangerous” septuagenarians, illegally leaks classified material to sympathetic press pack dogs who work in support of the D 卐 M ☭ CRAT Imperium, slow rolls subpoenas for FOIA information and lies about the need to classify ever more evidence that the American public should be able to see and again, that is before 9 o’clock.
Again, the FBI initiates investigations which are disguised in order to entrap innocent, down and out Americans (See Gretchen Whitmer) in order to further their political goals. They entrap innocent Americans as they did on Jan. 6th (Hundreds of FBI Agents were there, encouraging grocery boys and grandmothers into the building so the Department of “Justice” could imprison them with no Habeas Corpus and no hopes for a fair trial in an enemy city, in enemy territory, filled with enemies who want us dead.), again, withhold exculpatory evidence (14,000 hours of video which would show very little criminal intent, but would reveal the faces of hundreds of agents/provocateurs.) They ARE, absolutely, the American Gestapo.
Comey, Wray, Stroch, etc., the entire 7th floor of the FBI over the last 10 years, should be indicted, prosecuted, convicted and incarcerated for the betrayal of trust, treason and the ongoing, RICO like, thug transnational gang operations they have initiated with Mens rae, premeditated criminal intent.
Tear the FBI building down and sow salt in the earth where it once stood.
There are no better angels on the shoulders of the Fascists in the Deep State.
The Federal Government, soup to nuts is now captured and no more than an enforcement arm of the DNC.
Tear it out root and branch and administer the much needed correction (Including the executions of traitors.) appropriate to all parties concerned.
From a very early age. I ran away from state care at 12 and slept in graveyards to stay safe. The foundation of most things are built on a lie. I learned at a very early age.
Born in 1950 I was never a political person, I was just trying to get ahead and make a good living for my family. However, in the run up to the 1992 presidential elections I noticed that as we got closer and closer to Election Day the media became more and more focused on the homelessness in America. It seemed to be dominating the tv news coverage nightly. Obviously Bush was ignoring the problem etc. lo and behold within two days of declaring Clinton the winner all coverage of the homeless ceased. Amazing how fast that problem must have been resolved! That was my ahha moment. I never watch major news shows now and I am skeptical of anything released by the government.
For me it began with Amnesty ( CA) in the mid 80’s, Clarence Thomas sickening hearings, Clinton’s, McCain, Bush wars, Bailouts,
Obama. Volunteering at Republican local headquarters, watching, listening and things were not adding up.
Then Susan Collins voted to move Obamacare out of committee. I had not figured out it was deception amongst the whole lot of them. Whenever they were on radio or television they were shriveled sloppy in my mind and I heard nothing but blah blah blah. So I stop listening and watching.
At some point I found the Treehouse and at the time I was sort of in a constant state of outrage which served no purpose just a ongoing frustration.
Studying the splitter strategy and the lemon bin economic information Sundance provided helped that removed the outrage and to see things clearer.
I continue to study the lemon bin and deceptiCON moves.
President Trump is the opposite of the worn out shriveled do nothings with their boring playbook to enrich themselves.
Oh and Benghazi is/was despicable. Eyes opened much more. Sickening.
Most everyone on the Treehouse probably can do a rewind and see the strings from years ago. We will never unsee them again.
9/11 turned my world upside down.
Nothing’s ever been the same for me.
I never trusted the news but 9/11 sent me down a rabbit hole that seems to never end.
9/11, President George Bush told Americans that shopping would defeat radical Islam a few days after the attacks and was later seen walking arm in arm with the Saudi king . Obama calling Ft. Hood Massacre ‘workplace violence’.
Three WTF moments for me.
I remember GWB’s signing of the Patriot Act (?) just a few days after 9/11 and wondered how someone had gotten it together in such a short time. Shame on me.
9/11. I was a civilian working for the Navy in Maryland at the time. We were told to leave work early that day. Everyone started bickering about whether or not that meant we would be given leave with pay or whether we would be charged vacation time. The US government failed at keeping the country safe (our mission) and my coworkers wanted to be paid to take the day off. Pathetic.
Ross Perot….
That giant sucking sound ….
As some others have said, it was a process for me more than any one moment in time. It began with the Clinton impeachment, followed by the Iraq war mess under GWB, & was finally driven all the way home when Donald Trump came down that escalator, which was also right around the time that I got saved. Seeing things with spiritual eyes opened up the landscape in a way that even no amount of worldly red-pilling could do.
For me, it was at a young age when I began to question what was really going on in the world. I come from a long line of military men who through their stories I began to question the “sane” world.
My great uncle ( grandmas brother) served in the Air Corps during WWII. He was shot down and was a POW for almost 2 years. The stories he told me of the treatment received by US airmen was quite different than the Brits, French and others.
My uncle (Dads brother) was a Marine serving in Guadalcanal and other amphibious landings throughout the war. He and I shared many stories after I too joined the Marines.
My father, fortunately, joined active service as a SeeBee August 1, 1945. He unfortunately continued to serve as a SeeBee working reconstruction in Japan and eventually ended up in Korea in 1950. He became a POW in the Pusan area. He was thankfully rescued after about 3 weeks by South Korean forces.
Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s created a lot of turmoil for both myself and these men who were a huge influence in my life. As a result my byword had become “Trust no one”.
As I said before, none of these men really ever opened up about their experiences until after I had joined the Marines, which is when I definitively turned the corner in my disbelief of the “narrative”.
My own experience was cumulative during my years of service, but I can say with certainty that it was a particular episode in Panama in 1989/1990. My platoon was pulling security near the US Embassy when we observed a well known TV journalist and his minions talking to a group of young boys (maybe 13-18 years of age). They kept looking at us and talking, and it appeared that the kids were given something. Anyway after this journalist and his crew had repositioned themselves directly across the street from my post, the kids came running down the street yelling obscenities and throwing rocks and garbage at us. We did not engage, because we had been watching all of this for some time. We suspected what was coming, but we were in disbelief that it was happening. Regardless, we never did see Mr War Correspondent in our area ever again. What really broke my heart was when I returned home months later my mother told me she actually saw me on TV. The heartbreak came when she asked if we were able to protect that “wonderful” man, Mr War Correspondent. I held my tongue until the day she died.
This was the culmination of the whispered stories that had been told to me by my family men. We spoke openly to each other about horrors of war and the narcissism of those in charge. Right or wrong, we never shared any of those stories with the rest of our families. Looking back I see clearly the evolution of the erosion of our freedoms that Sundance so clearly describes.
The last thing I will say is this: I am an Anglo-Saxon warrior. I have been blooded before and I fear not to run towards the sound of battle. I have done my utmost peacefully thus far. I will respond when my nation finally, frantically calls for my kind.
Thank you for sharing your story.
A brother in arms!
Clear as day. I had the news on one evening when Al Gore was running for president. I had thought Clinton had done the country pretty good up to that point. I wasn’t really political one way or the other, I just wanted to see the country properly managed. I believed in the yin and yang of it, if one side goes too far we go the other way, and it all works out in the end. But on the news, I saw gay activists attacking the Cub Scouts. I was a Cub Scout, and I thought it was a wonderful institution, one of many whose purpose was to create the backbone of our civil society, productive, protective men. That really bothered me. I had grown up working in restaurants and clubs in a resort town, and was fairly tolerant of homosexuals, but this was different. This was an attack. And it bothered me
1) In 1980, when I was 16 years old and went to buy my first car. Since I wasn’t old enough to take out a loan, my parents “loaned” me $4,000, at 12% interest…which horrified my mother!
She told my dad that they couldn’t charge interest to their own daughter, to which he replied, with great wisdom, “Because she is my daughter, I am only going to charge her the 12% that I would be getting on the funds if they was still in our Money Market Account, rather than the 18% the bank would charge her for a car loan. She needs to learn to manage her money well!”
I did learn – I made extra “principle payments” every month and paid the loan off in two years instead of three! Thanks, Dad!! You were right, as usual!
2) Later that same year, my High School Journalism teacher showed us the movie “Capricorn One” and I learned that both the Government and the Media will lie, with ease, in order to push a narrative!
3) 1989 – first time I heard Rush Limbaugh on the car radio and almost slammed on the breaks because I couldn’t believe TPTB were letting someone say, OUT LOUD, all of the things that I knew to be true about the country, and the direction we were heading.
4) 2001 – when George W Bush got elected as a “Compassionate Conservative” and then passed, in rapid succession, No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D, and then started the Office of Faith Based Initiatives, which created the entire NGO organization that has been used to destroy our national sovereignty!
I could go on but those are the first ones that come to mind…it has been said that those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it, but I will all posit that those of us who DO know history are condemned to bang our heads against the wall trying to explain it to all those who didn’t learn it the first time!!
My Mom was a talk radio listener in the 70’s. Mom argued with the TV nightly. She and Dad introduced me to Rush. I never looked back. I had no faith in media.
911 happened and I realized so many listened to the Port Authority who told them the second tower to be hit was not in danger and to return to their offices. I thought about it in depth and realized I would have returned to my office.
Trump was the final piece. I question everything I see or read or hear now. I’ve become Mulder – Trust No One.
10 years old during a Dodger baseballs game in LA. I looked around the stadium at all those ads and thought “people are being manipulated” and wanted to learn how.
Started really waking up as a teen and then fast forward to the 2016 presidential election cycle… that was the moment for me.
As for my journey with Jesus it was kicked in to high gear thanks to the Q posts and recognizing that there were people worshipping satan.
I read most of the columnists in the Miami Herald and the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel on a daily basis. I found myself listening more and more to Pat Buchanan. He seemed to make the most sense. I started reading political books around that time, and Pat Buchanan’s ‘Death of the West’ was really the book that formed my political outlook. One day he wrote a column about the New Jersey Supreme Court overriding something the voters had passed on gay marriage. There was a little box at the bottom of the column that said send your comments to Pat. So I did. My question was, did Governor Corzine take orders from the state Supreme Court? Or could he tell them to pound sand. Enforce it yourself. To my surprise, I got a reply back from Pat. He said that Corzine wasn’t likely to do something like that, being a liberal Dem, but the guy who should have done it a few years earlier when confronted with the same sort of issue was Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. I was surprised how critical Pat was of a fellow Republican in writing to me, a total stranger. But I also realized I had something golden. To send him my original email I had just clicked the little box that said send. Now, in his reply, I had Pat Buchanan’s personal email.
I made the decision to never abuse it. I would only contact Pat when I had a worthwhile thought, which most of the readers here know just ain’t that often. It gave me incredible access to one of the minds who really understood America, what she was, and what the corporate Marxists intended to do with her. President Trump decided not to run in 2012 much to my disappointment, but I always was satisfied in the back of my mind that there was a guy out there with the means to get the job done and a full understanding of the situation the way Pat had explained it to me.
Let me throw in one other point. After 9/11, when George Bush was so much more worried about Muslim backlash then he was about protecting our country, I knew there was a greater force running things that did not have our best interest in mind
wonderful story
I also clicked that box and asked a question of Pat Buchanan regarding a column he had written. I was homeschooling at the time and my son had a keen interest in politics and I wanted clarification on something in one of his columns. I never imagined that I, too, would receive a personal email from Pat, explaining his point in great detail, telling me to contact him if my son, or I, ever had any questions.
I took him up on his offer several times and he was graciousness itself in every one of his responses! He was tickled when I told him that my son had attended a YAF convention in DC as a Highschool Senior and had the pleasure of meeting Pat’s sister, Bay, who was just as smart (and nice) as he was!
Great memory – he was one of the few people in politics that told the truth, regardless of whether or not people wanted to hear it, which is probably why he never made it as far as the “Schmoozer” types like Clinton and Biden!
He is a great man. Imagine if he had been our president. Great story, Viking mom
And you mentioned his graciousness. When I had an essay I wrote about candidate Trump picked up and published on ZeroHedge, Pat was the first person in my inbox congratulating me. He didn’t have to do that.
I remember when Buchanan was running for President and the Fort Worth Star Telegram “Startlegram” ran an editorial cartoon by their in house Etta Hulme of Buchanan goose stepping and wearing a Swastika, still remember the cartoon and how the desperation was glaring.
I already commented earlier. Wow! The number of voices posting continues! We are all reaching out to each other. There are those who would have us believe that we are isolated and alone. It isn’t so!💕 🙏💕
For me 9/11 just plain had an imprint of ‘wrongness’ all over it but I did not want to believe what I suspected, looked away and focused on job, rent and the last kid at home.
The bailout out of the corporate fat cats had me ‘are you kidding?’
Then Obama saying he would change the country made me go, what?
Then I started to get annoyed at his condescending accusation of racism of America since I had learned from childhood to look to others hearts and actions. got me growling.
(I am a white woman whose mother named me after her best friend who was black. So, others who see my name before meeting me think I am black. Sometimes it’s been weird.)
When both Bernie and Trump were both going on about TPP I started noticing. I was brought up in a family of rustbelt union workers so I used to vote dem on the idea dems supported working families. (so naive I know)
The extremes that the media went through to denigrate Trump made me notice him more. But then he ended TPP right out of the gate and EVERYONE LOST THEIR MINDS.
That did it for me. I started watching everything and connecting dots which brought me here.
I am 72. I was in the vat with Keanu until Trump was in for about a year. So…, 2017.
Reading most of the other comments here, I am embarrassed by my lack of prescience and perspicacity. Only the election of the most consequential president in American history and his subsequent persecution, prosecution, which culminated in the ascendance by way of election fraud, the doddering, drooling, senile, superannuated sock puppet, traitor criminal to high station in the Oval Office “woke” me up.
Since that time, I have spent countless hours, reviewing the history that was written by our conquerors in Big Media. My own private retrodiction, now brings me to this time and this place with all of you.
For example, I did deep dives on Lincoln. My opinion has dramatically changed. Thomas DiLorenzo’s take on the Dirigiste, anti-Republic Lincoln is my bible now. Nothing is, or was, as I thought.
We all really knew that the Gulf of Tonkin was a lie, that WMD was a lie, the their were 20 years of lies in Afghanistan and this immoral, unconscionable Ukrainan proxy war is still another way to euchre money by way of blood out of all the participants. Of course we blew up that pipeline. We are a terrorist nation. No wonder people fly planes into our buildings.
7 Years ago, if you would have told me, that unelected beadles in cubicles, motivated by power, money and sinecure were the catalyst for the pernicious, counterproductive policies that have, for over 75 years, killed millions in international debacles and a couple of million of our own, lost to needless wars for a fantasy and a trick of fame, I would have thought you were anti-American and indeed, probably unhinged.
Now, we exist in country with NO RULE OF LAW. WE live in a Fascist country where the at the whim and caprice, the DNC “One Ring To Rule Them All” party, can send FBI agents to roll your 70 year old wife out into the front yard in am American Kristallnacht nightmare.
Mao said, that “Power stems from the end of a gun barrel” and he was certainly right.
The powers aligned against us are formidable. The Main Stream Media (28% of ALL Americans still get their news from rabbit ears.), Big Tech, Big Pharma (Who is literally with Dr. Fauci-Mengele murdering us as I type.) the Entertainment Industry, the Military, Academe and of course, this is all initiated by the Administrative Deep State which IS, the “One Ring To Rule Them All” DNC. They ALL wear the same uniform. Some block, some run, some pass, some defend, but they are all the same, there is NO difference.
I am less than sanguine as to how this turns out. Edmund Burke said that, “Democracy is rule by the swinish multitude”. In my opinion, most Americans are wet by every rain, blown by every wind, myopic, blinkered fools who are sporting the IQ’s of inbred bacteria. The ones that know the truth, are either wilfully impercipient by way of indolence and a government sponsored “Bread & Circus Bacchanalian life style, or parasites in on the scam.
Machiavelli said that, “In the end, people get the government they deserve”. H. L. Menken said that, “They deserve to get it good and hard”.
Personally, I have acquired a new, galactic capacity for hatred.
Hate is good.
Don’t listen to the lies. Charles the Hammer Martel had hate in his heart on that day at Tours in 732.
There are still, good fights, good wars and that was one.
This is one too. I pray, we are up to the task because the DNC didn’t just steal a march on us while we slept, they drugged us and stole the entire country.
Hate, now and forever.
At 72, you certainly have an impressive and robust vocabulary. I’m only six years behind you in age.
I tip my hat to you, sir.
Vince Foster’s “suicide.” Back then the WSJ had actual journalists. I read that he was the one person besides Bill and Hillary who knew all the details. It was similar to the first time I smelled something dead. I didn’t panic though. When Trump was elected and the entire bureaucracy including the “conservatives” seemed to work tirelessly to undermine what seemed like good policies for America, I bought my first gun. When the 1 a.m. spike occurred in the Nov 2020 election, I bought my first batch of emergency provisions. When Pence accepted that gold medallion after certifying election, I bought my first gun safe. When Obama said he would love to have a front man or woman with an earpiece, I bought myself a water purifier and found an artisan well as a source. I have been researching provisions, water safety, cooking methods ever since. And of course, improving my proficiency and putting in provisions. I am not selling or promoting this woman, but Hillbilly Kitchen has provided me with useful history and recipes that the simple folks of the mountains relied on and survived with. You can think clearly when your kids aren’t crying from hunger.
i always liked the notion in Vince’s suicide note… ‘the wall street journal editors lie without consequence’
I began paying more attention a long time ago, back when I was in college back in the early 1970’s and viewed a blurry bootleg copy of the Zapruder film that clearly showed JFK’s head snapping BACKWARD after being struck by a rifle bullet that was purportedly fired from behind.
Yes, yes, I know…I’m not an anointed “expert”, and there’s an expert-approved excuse theory to explain away the commonsense explanation that the shot must have come from the front. But I’ve been hunting since I was a child and I’ve never seen reaction to a rifle shot like that, nor do I expect to see one.
Once it dawned on me that in all probability JFK (who I don’t idolize, by the way) was murdered as a result of a conspiracy, and that the political establishment very clearly did NOT want to admit to or investigate this possibility, I lost trust in authority and began to wonder about a lot of other things. I have a wife, five grown children and – or far – fourteen grandchildren, so at various times of my life I’ve been very distracted from political events.
But I read a lot of history, and over the years I’ve learned more and more things about other events that have occurred that are, shall we say, more than a bit suspicious, and observed patterns of behavior on the part of our ruling political elite which tend to indicate they have things to hide.
November 22, 1963. Seventh grade; 12 years old. Catholic school. Boston Ma. Even the nuns knew it was a hit.
My brother learned about the new world order in 1992. He kept the information to himself but would drop tidbits that he had researched and learned about over the years. I always knew that things were bad but when the 2016 election rolled around He told me he needed to bring me down the rabbit holes because agenda 21 was fixing the roll out soon and the s*** was gonna get real. I told him I new things were messed up but I didn’t want the details. he said you have to learn the details now.
So I heard about Q anon, Yes it was a psyop. but that was where I learned about Wormwood, operation paperclip and The compromising of incoming Congress members with pedophile pics, and that was also where I learned about the pedophile situation world wide and so many other things.
Then I found YOU Sundance! And you wrapped everything together. So I would say 2016 was my Deep wake up although my brother had been dropping bombs to me for years since the mid nineties.
From your article: “The compromising of incoming Congress members with pedophile pics.” This is shocking to me as I have never heard it before. Is this anything like what they were accusing Gaetz of?
I became politically aware when I was 14 during the Johnson-Goldwater election. Since then I have always studied the political landscape and even have a degree in political science. Understanding that there has always been an “elite” component of our society, I still was able to see that there were political solutions and even surprises (e.g., Trump) that would keep things in some sort of balance, even as the states became balkanized into red vs. blue.
The 2020 election disabused me of the notion that we can vote our way out of the current political situation, at least at the Presidential level. I pray things do not get worse and frankly fear for my children and grandchildren.
My parents taught me the principles of conservatism by their routine, daily actions. Rush Limbaugh taught me these principles by making the complex understandable and illustrating the absurd with absurdity.
I was a staunch W Bush supporter. After conservatives secured the majority in both the house and senate in 2000, Jim Jeffords switched from Republican to Independent. This got my attention. Republicans then proceeded to do NOTHING for the American people. This was when I became aware of the uniparty. It was a slow awakening that followed the stages of grief (Denial-Bush, Anger-Obama first term, Bargaining-settling for Romney, Depression-Obama second term, Acceptance-embracing Trump as an implement of destruction).
In the midst of the 2020 election being stolen from Trump, I found the treehouse. Sundance’s exposition on the 4th branch of goverment was the unifying theory that fully explained our present condition.
The actions of the wealthy/powerful indicate they will do anything to protect their interests. Banning guns can assure they are not subject to gun violence while arming their own security forces. Locking down public air travel with absurd TSA regulations ensures they maintain a competitve advantage with their time and private travel privilege. Using the government as a backstop to prop up failed business ventures assures their success by removing accountability.
Our present condition is dire. We may not be able to beat back the forces that plot our enslavement. However, with God, all things are possible. I have incredible hope from the recent events at Asbury and pray fervently for revival to sweep across our nation and world.
I started paying attention politically during the Bush/Gore election and haven’t stopped. First I had heard of faux voting and remember Rush did a test to determine why there were hanging chads. Too many ballots being punched at one time, some still had little pieces of paper hanging on them. Also the first time I heard of boxes of ballots being removed from the trunk of LEO cars and being brought in for counting. Look at what we have let happen to the voting/election process in this country.
I started noticing life was trending in the wrong direction about 45 years ago. I was a single, working woman and my company’s insurance informed me I could no longer visit my long-time family physician.
My comment was, “You mean to tell me YOU are going to decide what doctor I am allowed to go to?”
That was the day I knew our freedoms were under assault and it has been downhill since.
Interesting question…
Simple, NOT so simple answer: I’ve always paid political attention for the most part. Regrettably was a Bush (X2)/McCain/Romney voter. This said, I can honestly say that I really had a true awakening once PDJT took office & I began to see how blinded I have been these many years even though I was a conservative.
9-11 for me. I never paid much attention before that and didn’t really see much difference between the two parties. After 9-11,I noticed that the democrats seemed to be supportive for a week or two and then started attacking again. I started listening to talk radio – Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham and Indianapolis’s Greg Garrison. That was when Mark Levin’s show was just getting going and he was a favorite of mine, too. I had tied to listen to Rush Limbaugh a few times in 1995-96 but just couldn’t get interested. That changed after 9-11 and he became my #1surce of information and political commentary.
I’ve been a political junkie ever sense.
I go WAY back. My first vote for President was for Eisenhower. I decided on him because of his stellar resume……..
WW 2…..College president, etc. But as the campaign began, the media started pushing the mantra that Eisenhower “Was not too bright,” etc. I had a problem understanding this since Ike had held together and directed the fractious coalition of egos involved in winning WW 2. Could anyone else have held together such ego driven souls as Montgomery, DeGaulle and others and still accomplish victory?
As the campaign progressed, I came to realize that those denigrating Eisenhower were lying and pushing an agenda opposite to what the people wanted in a leader. This (Media) practice continues today.
I began paying more attention a long time ago, back when I was in college back in the early 1970’s and viewed a blurry bootleg copy of the Zapruder film that clearly showed JFK’s head snapping BACKWARD after being struck by a rifle bullet that was purportedly fired from behind.
Ditto !
I never watched the news because I didn’t like to hear only negative things. Then in 2015 Donald Trump arrived and I wanted him to win, but was only hearing bad things and bad publicity. I knew he was an outsider, I liked what he said and to tell you the truth I liked his brutal honesty…and found his sarcasm very funny because it was a way to point to the obvious. I knew that Hillary was bad, Obama was terrible…so for the first time I started paying attention. I wouldn’t listen to the MSM, but my resources for information were social media and sites like TCTH, The Gateway Pundit, citizens that filmed DT during his rallies, etc. After DT won the presidency watching the constant attacks was an eye opener. Deep State was real, the Republicans were not the “good guys”, corporations are evil (not bad, EVIL). Then the communist pandemic started and that was it, I understood that we were entering the twilight zone….so pretty much nothing the media said I was sure it was not true. My husband sent me to Costco on January 2020 and said buy everything we need for three months, they are going to shut the world down!! I thought he was exaggerating (he reads more than I do…he goes into some deep fox holes sometimes, so he knows more) but I went and bough all we needed for three months. Took me more than a trip to many stores, but when they locked us down I had enough toilet paper, lol! So in a way, Donald Trump opened my eyes.
Before Reagan won his second term, my worldview was informed by Time, Newsweek, and Tom Brokaw. They reviled Reagan as a dimwit and that was all I heard, and being in my early 20s I was naive enough to believe it.
Then Reagan won in a landslide and I realized with a shock that a majority of the country thought and believed something other than what I had been consuming.
That’s when my eyes were opened to the ways of the world.
Unfortunately, not until the pandemic. Up until that time I had enough success and ease that I was not paying attention. Voted, republican, out of habit. The pandemic woke me up and I have not gone back to sleep.
I began paying attention after reading a book at age 25 called “The Women’s Room” by far left feminist Marilyn French in 1977.
The book expressed disdain for and warfare against men and a shot across by bow–I was appalled.
I decided as a registered Democrat to find out which political party feminists supported.
Found it was Democrats.
By 1980 I voted John Anderson 3rd party, registered Independent in 1982, and have voted Republican ever since.
Why would a guy support a party inhabited by feminists wanting him dead?
My awakening to our current predicament came when Donald Trump entered the 2016 campaign. He opened my eyes to the corruption in our government that I had not thought possible, and I was 72 years old at the time. I should have been aware long before that and I will always be grateful to President Trump for everything he did. Well, I’m wide awake now, and as I read websites such as CTH (thank you, Sundance) sometimes I wish I was still asleep.
REMEMBER EAST PALESTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
During the Bush administration. The Patriot Act specifically.
My Sophomore year 1963 at Catholic High School when Kennedy was assassinated. To this day I cannot, and did not then, believe the Democrat Party was not involved. I then became a staunch Conservative and disappointed when Goldwater lost. After that the Jimmy Carter Presidency reinforced my opinion me to this day on Democrats. I was a vocal backer of Ronald Reagan. I am sorry to say I liked George W Busch even though I totally disliked his father’s Presidency, primarily because I though it obvious that he actively destroyed Reagan’s meager accomplishments. I backed the candidacy of Donald J Trump immediately upon his announcement. I never though he would win the nomination, let alone the Presidency in 2016. Donald J Trump not only WON but is the most consequential President since Abraham Lincoln. By the way, CTH and Sundance have kept me sane for at least five years.
I realized it was all a sham with George w. Bush. Ran on ending abortion, had the house and senate and did nothing. 911 stories never made sense and I knew we were being lied to.
When Trump won and Deep State Uniparty Media Establishment went batsh**crazy and ripped off its mask.
This made me look back at what I called Republicrats and Democans years ago but didn’t really understand how deep was the grift.
I then looked at the pattern
1960 Ike warned us
1963 Kennedy considered doing away with CIA.
1963 Kennedy assassinated
1964 Establishment Outsider Goldwater wins GOP nom. Uniparty Establishment objects. Repubs help defeat their own candidate.
1972 Media coup takes out Agnew and then Nixon. Establishment Unipartiarian Ford installed
1976 Outsider Carter defeats Uniparty Insider Ford
1980 Establishment Outsider Reagan wins GOP nomination. Uniparty Repubs horrified. Foist Unipartiest Bush on Reagan as VP
Reagan wins.
2 months after inauguration is nearly assassinated
1988 New World Order Unipartiest Bush wins presidency. Raises taxes, embraces New World Order
1992 Ross Perot runs thurd party against Bush. Wins 20% of vote. Clinton wins, politicizes Government
2000 Bush 2 wins. Invades Iraq. Uniparty pleased
2008 Obama weaponizes Government
2016 Trump wins GOP nomination. Uniparty Establishment objects
We The People have been trying for a half a century to reclaim America. It just wasn’t obvious to me until Trump scared the gooslins out of the Uniparty Establishment
The Reagan Presidency
Followed politics since I was a kid in the 60s. Knew about the Church committee exposing CIA use of domestic media, recall George Wallace saying their’s not a dime worth of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans, but did not realize how bad the narrative creators were until Ronald Reagan was elected. Then I saw the demonization that MSM made of him prior to his election and compared that with the reality of his administration. Since then their efforts were suspect and the internet allowed other voices to be heard. At the same time since then there has been more not less media consolidation.
A beer analogy come to mind.
Beer – There has been a consolidation of the big U.S. breweries over the past half century. In 1950 there were 407 breweries in operation. By 1961 that fell to 231 and only 140 were independently run. By 1983, just 51 breweries operate 80 breweries; the top six control 92% of USA beer production. (Anheuser-Busch, Miller, Heileman,Stroh, Coors, Pabst).By 1995 with the rise of the microbreweries freed by federal deregulation, there are 500 operating. By 2013 there were 2,538 breweries operating with only 55 classified as non-craft. (https://www.beerhistory.com/library/holdings/chronology.shtml)
In 2021 66% (by volume) of the beer sold in the USA was by big US brewers; 21% was imported; 13% was independent craft brewers.
I couldn’t figure out how on earth Donald Trump was managing to stay in the Republican primaries week after week, state after state. He was winning in different regions of the country, so there had to be more than a “fringe” voting for him. Out of curiosity, I went to a Trump rally, not to see Trump, but to see who was there. I saw normal, middle class people politely standing in line and even though the building was already full and they couldn’t get in, they stayed. I asked “Why Trump?”. They responded “To take on the system”. No one in media was reporting that information. To me, that sounded like a reasonable basis for voting for someone, although I might not agree, it was reasonable. Why was the media demonizing these people?
I’ve always been awake, as far back as I can remember. But there have always been signposts, things that said, “You need to pay attention, now.”
One thing that really stood out was Russ Feingold, being the only senator to vote against the patriot act. Probably the bravest patriot in the last 100 years, and he was a liberal Democrat.
I started reading Treehouse a few months before the 2016 election, but I REALLY started paying attention when Biden was declared the winner in 2020.
Been conservative and had conservative ideas most of my life. Supported bush Romney McCain and all of the rest. It was only till 2016 when I began to see the opposition against Americans by the whole establishment. In 2017 I came across this show in AZ 92.3 called Reality Check. That show opened my eyes to the news engineering and directed me to this site as well. Now I’m MAGA conservative and see the strings.
9/11
when Obozo started complaining about Christian while terrorist when around the USA killing people.
I was always conservative/right – it just made sense to have personal responsibility. I was a ‘newsaholic’ and at some time in the mid ’00s, the media’s news didnt seem ‘right’. I don’t remember anything specific. As the internet appeared, I began to search for ‘good news’, then for ‘conservative-right news’. It was hard to find! I don’t recall which website I found, but from the comments or links I began to branch out and discover new websites and commentators.
Over the years, I’ve let some commentators drift when I found they were a bit weak on certain issues, or I found another, better writer to replace them. The Wuhan flu has certainly found out the weak commentators.
Also, some very interesting commentators appear on FB/Twtter/gab, so I now have a dozen or so I flick past. I’m at the stage now that I don’t need ‘the detail’ but I know where to find it if I do. It’s good vs evil, nationalists vs globalists, truth vs lies, freedom vs corporate communism.
Finally, many report, dig, investigate, but Sundance has THE BEST analysis in the world.
It’s been layers—at first, Listening to Rush in the 90’s made me solidly conservative. I still basically trusted all the institutions. The Obama Birth Certificate was my awakening to outright media gaslighting. Realized how much my party hates us during the Tea Party and then Trump. And lost all respect for the IC during Spygate (which was confirmed by the release of the Zapruder film where the driver clearly kills the President). The Cholesterol Myth and then Covid killed my respect for Medicine. And last summer, found out the moon landing was faked, and that has led to some astounding realizations, but don’t trust anything NASA now. There are more through each institution, but in the end, the only thing I trust is Jesus Christ and the Scriptures. My faith and seeing God work in my life has been such a joy.
The big change for me was listening to Rush for the 1st time when Odumbo was running for President the first time. Prior to that, I had no care about politics and what the government was doing to the American people every day. Rush opened my eyes forever.
The Reagon Administration and the boondoggle that ended in the granting of amnesty to over 3 Million illegal immigrants.
After vioting for Jimmy Carter and seeing the fast decline of the country, I began changing my views to a conservative less government point of view, at 19 years old, next I voted for Reagan. My journey has been long as I have had to come to grips with the ffact that conservatives, in mass, are working in sheeps clothing! And, to understand that critical thinking does not equate to conspiracy therories. I consider President Trump the greatist president of my lifetime…☺
I guess mine was a gradual awakening with 9/11 making me question more things I heard. Next, I was appalled at everything Obama said and did. Then, Trayvon Martin was killed and I found this as a place to get some truth. After that, I questioned anything and everything I heard and read and I was actively seeking information. 2016 made me realize that we were being lied to about everything. Thank goodness for CTH.
