Former President Jimmy Carter (98) has chosen to spend his final days at home in Plains, Georgia, in hospice care after a series of brief hospital stays, the Carter Center announced today. [Announcement Link]

While many of us would not be considered “admirers“, it is a rightful thing to keep a good thought and prayer for his family during this stage of his life.
Psalm 23, a psalm of David:
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restoreth my soul. He guides me along the righteous path for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley in the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou are with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
~ Amen
Jimmy was a southern Democrat that was elected president just 8 years after the 1968 summer race riots and Vietnam protests. He was the anti-racist Democrat that was the new leadership of the Democrats that purged the old segregationists. The problem was that his leadership was too weak to lead a national party and the up and coming radicals of the 60’s began to take over the party. He defeated the hapless Gerald Ford that became President because of Nixon’s resignation. He was defeated in one of the biggest presidential landslides ever in 1980. And that was the end of his fairly unremarkable elected political career.
He did not do much after that politically, but he was always dependable for toeing the Democrat party line, whatever it happened to be. That is pretty much what the southern Democrats always do. Gentlemanly enough to seem human but knowing that his political fortunes were with a radical party. There are a few vestiges of that legacy. My Democrat governor in Kentucky and Manchin in WV are in that mold.
He was best known for gas lines, inflation, fireside chats and pretty much nothing beneficial. His greatest accomplishment was one of the most important things any president has ever done. He was so bad that the country was practically begging for something else. Had he been more like another southerner 12 years later with better political skills, he might have pulled off a reelection or at least made it close. As it was, because of the blowout and a Reagan mandate, we got 8 good years with Reagan and 4 so so years with Bush.
I hope that he passes from this life peacefully. What God does with him after that is up to God.
Well Said…….(enough said).
Carter was also known for his fire-side chats wearing a sweater and telling Americans to keep their thermostat turned down to a comfortable 55 degrees at night. A weak and feckless President, but better than Biden!
Nice summary. I would add the Iranian hostage crisis to his list of accomplishments.
Prayers for him and his family.
I would add that he gave away our Panama Canal.
What a blessed man, he lived long enough he won’t die known as the worst president of our lives….
Actually it’s very much up to him as to what God “does with him”. The formula is the same for him as it is for all of us; trust Christ as your Savior & repent of your sins. If one truly does that they can be assured of eternal life.
Thank you. Yes. trust Christ as your Savior & repent of your sins. Nothing is else is needed. It very much needs repeating. Nowadays it seems everyone who dies is assumed to go to Heaven. You attend a funeral and there is talk of Hell, like it has stopped existing.
NO talk of Hell
Carter was the cause of most MidEast problems we’ve had during and since his prez.
Allowing the fall of the Shah in Iran was ludicrous as best. The Shah was the 900# gorilla in the MidEast and he was pro-western. With the Shah’s departure, Wahhabi Islamic rule took over the MidEast, oil prices went threw the roof, Sharia Law was subjected upon the people, etc.
Then he forced himself into every international political maize that arose n resulted in more turmoil n most arose bec of Carter’s policies.
When Carter passes, he will be falsely remembered for being a good even great prez. Again falsely remembered.
Everyone seems to find comfort in Jimmy living long enough to know he’s no longer the worst President ever. Seeing that the Democrats have total control of our elections & any one who is not toeing the Democrat Communist line is being jabbed, experiencing or otherwise being chemically harmed, we haven’t seen the worst president yet. They’re just getting started while they indoctrinate your children to hate you & to hate America.
These are not even Jimmy Carter’s Democrats but he endorsed & still endorses whatever & whoever is in charge now.
So I don’t wish him ill but I won’t “celebrate” his yrs in the presidency either.
I think he will be remembered for the Camp David Peace Accords, as well–probably his proudest accomplishment as president, but he really didn’t have a lot to choose from. I pray he goes in peace and accord with his Maker. Godspeed, Gritz.
GHWB was disappointment and GWB was even worse.
We are all sinners and fall short…The level of sin..doesn’t matter..it all comes down to one thing..asking for forgiveness and giving your life to Christ..All no matter who they are will be the same..Christ is the only way..He is the way the truth and the light.May Jimmy Carter rest in peace knowing Christ is his savior.
Our first Communist President. Most were too naive to realize it, but we all had to live with the consequences.
oh no..he did more to destroy the country than anybody.
he created the dept of energy, the dept of education (which has NEVER reached any goal set for it) and he created FISA COURTS IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION.
He created more bureaucracy than any other president since roosevelt did during the depression.
Mr. President: You are a living legend. You have done so much for the world in and out of office. I know you are at home now. Please enjoy your time with the. family. People around the world are thinking of you. Prayers for all of you.
This is not the time to belittle Jimmy Carter. He was once our president. Have respect.
Whatever
can the same prayer be said for my father in law right now. He’s been in the hospital for 3 weeks. And the doctors don’t have a plan to help him get out. Hospice will help him die.
frankly I don’t give one flying fu*k about jc. My father in law has more integrity than anyone in the government.
spit on all of them
sorry, really tired and sad that I can’t help my fIL
I’m so sorry Eve. Praying for your FIL & your family.
I’m sorry. I can feel your pain and frustration in your post. Will put you and your FIL in the prayer basket.
My best wishes.
At least you can see him, my mom passed away two years ago. After two months in the hospital, where I was not allowed to visit. Thankfully the doctor finally got the administrators to relent and let my sister in for the last week. Even my son and brother in law got in the last day.
You can not believe the anger I have for the likes of FJB, Obola The Magnificent and the entire cabal. Turning the other cheek is very, Very, VERY hard.
Enjoy your time with him.
So very sorry for your pain during this time.
Now days, think I’d go for President Carter over either of the Bushes. I recall Pres Carter’s time as one of no new wars, pushing back on military largess, him being victimized by a vicious swimming rabbit. Give me all that over what we have now ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. His embrace of Christianity and service in retirement speaks to his essential integrity, and I credit him with that. Ive been wrong before, but he seems to me a good, decent man.
Farewell to President Carter. Blessings to his family.
When they first meet in the afterlife:
“Hey Jimmy, remember me? Why’d you have to go smack me like that?”
“Oh hi, how you been? I’m sorry Mr. Bunny, but you just kinda freaked me out, you know…”
“Yeah, no hard feelings. Lemme show you around…”
“…pushing back on military largess…” Yea, we didn’t need a strong military to fight the Cold War. Darn Reagan for building up our defenses, thereby winning the Cold War and setting millions free!
“His embrace of Christianity…” Including his support of abortion and same-sex marriage. I’m glad the Bible doesn’t say anything about these things.
List of presidents during my lifetime who were NOT warmongers:
Donald Trump
Jimmy Carter
(And as just an individual person, I’d be willing to add Ronald Reagan to that list, but he had some people surrounding him that were total scum in that regard.)
Nixon. Wanted to get us out of war and was run out of office for it.
Yeah, that story of him hanging out with the protesters at the Lincoln Memorial makes me have second thoughts on just how much his heart was really into Vietnam.
Amen.
God Bless and hold the the Carter family during this time.
The only reason carter got elected was because of the backlash against tricky dicky.
I was so upset at tricky dicky that I actually voted for mr peanut.
Mr peanut should have just kept farming peanuts instead of running for president.
The establishment ran all over him.
In my opinion he was a placeholder president.
Yep. That’s why I voted for JC. I was angry at Nixon over Watergate (thanks to the Lamestream Media). Then I was upset with Carter over excessive inflation and the Iranian Hostage Crisis. We can’t blame him entirely though. Carter did have a Democrat Senate and House for 3 years.
Tricky Dicky got had by the CIA.
the fifth worst potus.
5…carter
4…wilson
3…biden
2…that guy with three islamic names
1…lbj and it’s not even close.
I’d put biden and obama at the very bottom – tied for the bottom spot, then Clinton
This is the time to pray for former President Carter and his family.
I’ve seen that picture many times, and I still don’t understand the point. WHY would someone create such a Photoshop? I mean if they hate the Carters or love them, if they hate the Bidens or love them… regardless, I just can’t figure out the purpose of it.
They say that it was the wide angle of the camera that created the illusion.
I think it’s just bizarre.
The Yetis visit the Hobbits.
Oh wait, there is a lemon tree in the living room. The couches look better than Taco Jill and her upholstery.
I think Carter was the last D President who at least loved his country, despite his incompetence and failed ideology.
Thank God he was defeated by Reagan, but I still believe had the Iranian Hostage Rescue Mission “Operation Eagle Claw” been successful instead of the fustercluck that it was, he likely would have been re-elected in ’80.
Ah, the “Fickle Finger of Fate” and who knows what might have been …
The Democrats at Carter’s time didn’t use incompetence as a weapon, like they do nowadays.
As naive and incompetent as Carter was, unlike today’s hardshell Progressive (Marxist) Left Democrats Carter did not hate America. But, while presenting himself as a non-Washington anti-Establishment outsider who would never lie to us, he was actually the preferred candidate of David Rockefeller and the Trilateral Commission. At the CPAC conference in early 1977, a very senior Reagan staff guy commented that, while thinking they were voting for change with Carter they actually elected the Chase Manhattan Bank in mud covered overalls. That being said, and true as it was, the peanut farmer from rural Georgia displayed more common sense in the foreign policy debate with then sitting president G. Ford who was under the tutelage of the great legendary, iconic geo-strategist Henry Kissinger, architect of the failed detente policy, the treasonous ABM Treaty, the foolish SALT agreements, and the Great Grain Robbery. In that debate, Ford asserted that Eastern Europe was not under Soviet domination. Carter successfully challenged him on that. Thus the Chase Manhattan Bank in mud covered overalls won the election.
“hapless” boring Gerald Ford was personally a very successful Deep State creature.
Apparently had at least two major tasks in the JFK coverup.
Is he still alive? I hadn’t noticed…
I was a kid in fear for the Iranian hostages, my parents suffered horribly trying to run the household and God Bless them, us kids did not understand the strain because they kept us hidden from their pressures. And the jerk had me bussed across town to heal racial relations. He also is a fault for closing up the mental institutions.
So no, I really don’t care if he is in Hospice, quite frankly doesn’t he have enough cash for private duty care? We are all gonna die, and unlike him, most of us will die by the hand of our government.
I’m sure as a former president, he gets top-of-the-line home hospice treatment, not what we get under Ovomit-Medicare.
For a former nuke sub skipper he sure was naïve.
Whenever I hear his name I think about his statement that the “election” of Hugo Chavez was legit. He was some kind of election observer for that fiasco, maybe for the U.N., just a mess all around.
Never underestimate how Jimmy Carter could foul things up, to paraphrase another bad democrat.
Jimmeh is probably relieved he won’t pass away as the worst president in American history, a title he held for a very long time.
Carter also had a lot of far-left Socialists in his executive branch. They pushed for “universal income” (i.e. massive hand-outs) even back then. I think he started the so-called “Department of Education” for turning our schools into commie indoctrination centers. Nothing but bad moves.
He’s had a lot of years. More than most of us will get.
He could have pushed back against the democrat commies and socialists, pushed back against the religious left but he never did. Usually just went with the flow. Flotsom and jetsom.
Carter was a very inept President. I never agreed with his politics and must admit his administration was at best a disaster. But all that being said he was still a decent person at heart and had good though misguided intentions, Carter was by political standard a relatively honest person. This is far more that can be said for the current occupier of the Oval Office. Biden is openly corrupt and a fraud and proud of it. He is a traitor and sold out to the Red Chinese. Biden hates Middle Class Americans and wants to destroy them. Fortunately he is too senile to pull it off to date. Biden is pure evil and a willing pawn of the Devil as far as destroying this country is concerned..
Carter was just inept and misguided politically. I can have sympathy for his family and pray that he finds peace with a merciful God after he departs this world.
FJB just signed an Executive Order Edict late last week that will change your statement. Susan Rice now has control of virually all federal government job hirings (you know, the same jobs Ovomit made difficult to fire) & to hire under EQUITY standards ONLY.
White people will find few government opportunities under which they are hired, will be the first to be laid off, win federal grants, etc. I’m sure this will get rapidly picked up by the banks & will stymy loans, etc.
So no, FJB has only just begun to ruin our lives. Susan Rice is now out of the closet. This is likely setting her up for a run in 2024. She’s the next best thing to Sasquatch.
So thanks, Trey. You could have ended her career.
Thank you Sundance.
May God have mercy on us all.
For all his flaws, Jimmy Carter was the last Democrat president who was even remotely in touch with the people.
Godspeed, sir.
I was in 6th grade and Jimmy Carter was my first Presidential crush! I’m serious!
He was a good Christian. I was a good Catholic. We both went to Church on Sunday.
He was nice like your Camp Leader.
He listened to Rock n Roll. Introduced me to Dylan. We would sing “Ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more” on the way to the strawberry fields to make money for our school uniforms.
Billy beer was the first beer I ever tasted. I don’t like beer.
He was funny, his brother was funny. he talked funny but kinda cute.
Toe headed peanut farmer, Naval Officer. President. Hee Haw Y’all!
He said to put a sweater on, turn down your thermostat. My dad liked the idea, bought me a bunch of pretty sweaters.
President Carter created the Presidential Fitness awards. I earned all of them!!
He was the 1st President to encourage solar energy. We got ’em!
I don’t care what any of you say, I liked him. He was a good man. And I wish I was that carefree girl again!!
Ronald Reagan was a stinky old actor who combed his hair with grease, yuk!!
Your post was perfect.
“I don’t care what any of you say, I liked him.”
One of my favorite lines .
Your post brought back memories for me .
I was 20 with my whole life ahead of me.
I lived in the best of times.
…
I watched my mom take her last breath in a hospital.
Anybody with a heart should feel sadness for his family.
..
I have never voted for a Democrat and never will.
I blame Democrat policies for the mess we are in now.
A more likeable Biden, but still just a hapless political rube.
I agree with Sundance, say a prayer for he and his family that he die in peace.
As for all the speculation of how he got to the White House, was it the Banks, the Rockefellers, the CFR,
I always thought he was the result of 120 years of selective breeding, and by thus the Confederacy achieved its revenge.
Poor old Jimmy. He was in the right place at the right time. Donald Duck could have been elected president after the CIA pulled off a successful coup against Nixon AND his vice president. Carter brought us Reagan. Barry brought us Trump. Wonder who comes in the wake of the current occupant of the White House.
Jimmy Carter was quoted as saying. ” I can finally die in peace, as I have finally seen a President way worse than myself. Thank you Joe Biden from removing me as the worst president ever!
The killer rabbit sits waiting patiently. Not long now. Only a little while longer. Remembering the attack of the killer rabbit on April 20, 1979. Remembering the Iranian hostage crisis that didn’t end until President Reagan took office. Remembering the 1979 oil crisis, gas shortages too. Remembering the Panama Canal treaty that gave away the Panama Canal in 199 so that a CCP owned company now controls the entry and exit points. The Three Mile Island debacle. The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Remembering his support of the terrorist PLO and its leader Yasser Arafat and hatred for Israel that continued for the rest of his life as documented in his many books. At the very least he lived long enough to see another President surpass his disastrous term as President in 2008 who he also endorsed, or course.
When Donald Trump campaigned in 2016 he noted about Obama that: “He is the single best thing to ever happen to Jimmy Carter because a lot of people are no longer looking at Jimmy Carter as our worst president.” According to the Washington Times in a 2014 poll, Carter was considered to be the nation’s worst president. I believe Obama’s 3rd term through Biden has solidified his place in history.
I can remember Carter because I lived through his Presidency and knowing now he was merely carrying out the policies of the Deep State Harlot that put him in there. What I find amazing is how people forgot how much more terrible the world became under his time as not being the leader of the free world. A fact you can only put in context at the relief of when Ronald Reagan took the office from his single term as POTUS. Yes, he was that bad for America. Everyone will die eventually and many won’t live the long life he did because of the poison their government had them inject into their bodies. 1 Corinthians 3.16-17, and a special dedication to you Jimmy: Matthew 7.21-23. I suspect there won’t be any death bed confessions either. Too bad. So sad. Oh well.
He is a decent human being. He was a terrible President elected only because of Watergate. His reputation has improved as Obama and Biden have made Carter Look Smarter!

The disastrous policies of his administration are still felt around the world. When the dying Shah of Iran asked him for his help with the insurrections in Iran, he told the Shah NO and refused him political asylum in the US. He was the one that help the Ayatollah Khomeini go from Paris to Iran to take over. The rest is felt to today. He created the Department of Education, federalizing K-12 schools. Today we have a few generations of uneducated, anti American morons. He went against oil companies, creating gas lines forcing motorist to put gas on certain days depending on the last number of their license plates. He sat in front of a fireplace with his red sweater – the fireside chats – treating Americans like idiots telling them to lower the thermostats. He was a staunch anti Israel siding with the Palestinians and Arabs against them. He created the first housing bust with mortgage interest as high as 22% and inflation at 18% if I remember correctly. Maybe Treepers remember things I am forgetting. The only good thing this man did was Habitat for Humanity that, to this day, is helping people. He probably is not a crook but was always on the wrong side of things.
What grandma said.
Ok, for all his faults he did this and this nation will be forever grateful for his service:
‘On October 14, 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed H.R. 1337, which contained an amendment sponsored by Senator Alan Cranston (D-CA) creating an exemption from taxation of beer brewed at home for personal or family use. This exemption went into effect on February 1, 1979, making homebrewing legal on a federal level in the U.S.”
I voted for old Jimmy Carter when he was a lot younger. Here was the strangest bird to occupy our White House during the 20th Century. He is a good man, but he was a completely idealistic candidate who could have not lost the 1976 election no matter how deluded he was. The country generally thought he was the worst President of the 20th Century and threw him out after one term.
He was diagnosed with cancer the same month my brother was..Carter got the best of care and survived 7+ years. My beloved brother was told to throw in the towel and died at my home 7 weeks later at age 60. Carter was 90 at the time..Prayers for Pres Carter, you lived a long full life.
Amen.
I’ve never wished death on any man,but I’ve read some obituaries with glee !
Mr Carter is still alive ?
Amen 🙏
Don’t know what to say other than I pray he repents before he dies.
I voted for Carter, twice. His own party turned on him, meaning he was doomed. But tell me, do we suffer today with his mistakes? I say no. He was a fine Christian man who did his best. He was annoying because he got old and didn’t recognize the evil coalescing. Neither did most, and now it’s here bigly.
Never cared much for Reagan, good guy, but he did spearhead neoconservatism, neoliberalism, thus engendering the modern Uniparty, the horrific effects of which the world suffers with today. We will have to see a massive crash to dispel it.
Best not to accept the narrative so easily, as I’ve done up until 20 years ago. Trump’s nearest comparator is Carter, in many ways. The Uniparty of their day rejected them.
I would hope that the Carter administration intentions were with out malice. I believe the biggest difference between than and now is intent. I will remember him for homes for humanity. God speed Jimmy.
Judas, and every sinner, will ultimately be redeemed. Christianity is all about REDEMPTION, isn’t it? Maybe our established church teaching has been looking at this eternal punishment issue wrong. Maybe God’s love for all humanity that HE CREATED, and His power to salvage every human being, transcends our human comprehension.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (Rev. 21:4-5).
The passage previous to this one–Rev. 20:15–tells us of some individuals who are cast into the lake of fire. Those needing judgment will not escape it. But that judgment is part of God’s “righteous” judgment because its purposeful and redemptive. The lake of divine, Holy Ghost fire will have purified those who were cast there to be purged and processed, and then the time comes for GOD TO MAKE ALL THINGS NEW. Certainly both the lake of fire and the multitudes of people in it are part of the “all things” that ARE MADE NEW! That is the mystery.
Church teachings conclude that in one place in the universe there is eternal death, eternal tears, eternal sorrow, eternal crying, and eternal pain. And there, these things never pass away. “For the former things are passed away,” in their view, can never apply to this realm. It is excluded. Forever. But at the same time they tell us of another place where all is joy and peace and happiness, where the saved ones continually and for all eternity praise and worship God with nothing else to do, and without any concern whatsoever for those less fortunate souls for whom “the former things have not passed away and will not pass away!”
If this is true, then something must have happened to both God and the saints in heaven. Before the death of these people, God loved them all and in many instances they loved each other, saved and unsaved alike. In this natural realm many who called themselves Christians were very concerned about their “unsaved loved ones.” And many of these loved ones died in their sins, and according to the church doctrines, went away to this hell of eternal death, tears, sorrow, crying, and ETERNAL PAIN. Now that the two groups are in “eternity,” God and all the people in heaven seem to have acquired the inability to maintain deep attachments to others and consequently feel nothing, and are completely unmoved anymore for their most beloved ones who are suffering, crying, and enduring the inexplicable anguish and most excruciating pains of unending hell-fire and damnation.
It seems unrealistic to believe there was MORE LOVE and DIVINE COMPASSION in the natural world from God and the redeemed ones, than there will be in the heavenly realm. Something catastrophic would have to happen to cause God and his redeemed ones to turn from love and pity for the lost, to the obvious feeling that the lost are now only getting what they deserve and it is somehow just and right for them to suffer, cry, and scream in pain for all eternity.”
–Excerpted from “Kingdom Bible Studies, From the Candlestick to the Throne, Part 237, All Things New,” J. Preston Eby.
I, for one, choose to believe in a Creator who in love will never abandon His creation, but will fully and completely redeem all of His creation, as promised.
This was intended as a reply upthread to someone denying the statement “It’s never too late” and asking about Judas and mark of the beast takers.
He was better than Ford, and couldn’t have done worse than Clinton or Bush I or Bush II or Biden or Obama.
