Appearing at the White House podium, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communication John Kirby announced, “The Department of Defense was tracking a high-altitude object over Alaska airspace in the last 24 hours.” “We’re calling this an object because that’s the best description we have right now. We don’t know who owns it – whether it’s state-owned or corporate owned or privately owned, we just don’t know,” Kirby said.
The object first came to the attention of the US government “last evening.” Kirby told reporters that the US assessed the “object” to be unmanned before it was eventually shot down. Biden was first briefed Thursday night “as soon as the Pentagon had enough information.” The high-altitude object, Kirby said during a White House press briefing, was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet and posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight.
There were two efforts to get closer to the object and evaluate it as it flew. The first engagement by fighter aircraft took place late Thursday night and the second Friday morning. Both engagements yielded “limited” information, Kirby told reporters. “We were able to get some fighter aircrafts up and around it before the order to shoot it down, and the pilots assessment was this was not manned,” Kirby added. Ugh sounds fishy. According to our Alaskan news, it was flying over Prudhoe Bay. Our major oil fields are up there, so im glad whatever it was is no longer flying around (if it existed at all). Lots of people fly there for work on commercial flights and the airport was grounded.

Also to keep in mind, EMP devices are not exclusively nuclear devices, there are other much less expensive methods to induce an EMP whose presence cannot be ascertained by seeking radiation signatures.
Frighteningly enough, they aren’t terribly expensive either, so I can only presume that they are available to our opponents in quantity.

This is 10pm last night.
Driving with son & he stops in the turn lane on being startled & asks, “wth is that red thing up ahead!?”
I said “Uhm, the moon?”
He says, “that does not look like any moon I’ve seen before, where’s the rest of it!? And why’s it red?” Lol
It was a perfect semi-circle. It basically looked as if the lower half of a planet was poking thru the sky… or like a mixing bowl stuck on the ceiling 😁. It was a clear night/no clouds.
About 45 minutes later I watched the moon rise up behind my house thru the trees- as it usually does, & it looked normal & round/full. Idk 🤷🏻♀️

Interesting… I saw a huge dark orange partial moon exactly like that, maybe 6 months ago here in NE Ohio. It was low in the sky, shining big through all the streetlights and fast food signs on a busy avenue, and looked like the Death Star. I followed it visually as I drove, and a few blocks before home, I lost sight of it. It was rather breathtaking, spooky, and bizarre.

Slow speed conventional aircraft running at high altitudes need adequate lift generation ability or drag/mass will exceed lift and the aircraft will stall/fall until reaching denser air. Hence, the Q4 and U2 have long straight wings that generate relatively large amounts of lift for their overall size, weight and design speed.
Rotor type aircraft in commercial use have significant altitude restrictions due to this same phenomena. Hence, one isn’t going to be flying their Huey or quadrotor or Osprey at 40K feet.
Balloons and other lighter than air craft aren’t so constrained since they don’t depend on a certain density of air mass flowing over an airfoil to generate lift. The hot air generated by the clown show in D.C. could keep an army of balloons aloft permanently.

The U2 generates so much lift that it can be difficult to keep it on the ground when landing.
Lockheed reengined it with a turbofan and screwed up the throttle rigging in the process, making it difficult if not impossible to land, forcing many attempts to land and frequent go-arounds to try again.
I helped fix that but it was an exceedingly thankless task, overpaid engineers don’t easily confess their errors.

My initial thoughts as well. If the first one was real, and truly a China sent device, I thought this is a test. How easy then for China to send not hundreds, not a few thousand, but tens of, or even hundreds of thousands of various loads of anything from drones to anthrax to small explosives, you get the idea.

In the last several decades. China has lazed our spy satellites from the ground, effectively blinding them as they passed over China. They have stolen a great deal of top secret tech from the US and other governments. Stealth technology, nuclear technology, etc. They forced surveillance aircraft to land and they examined the equipment and held the crews as prisoners. Fortunately, the crews were able to engage self-destruct measures and data destruction prior to landing. They have shot down old Chinese satellites to prove they can do so. They have launched new spy satellites and have planned missions to the moon. At this point, Trump re-organized the Air Force to create Space Force an agency dedicated to space superiority. One can only hope that the US have placed weaponry into space. It’s possible we messed with the Chinese satellites and that is why they are sending over high-altitude spy balloons. But besides that, the imagery will be better than a satellite and the ability to detect radiation might allow them to identify which ICBM silos are loaded and active. They could also have intercepted radio transmissions, never mind they are encrypted. No doubt the balloons are relaying data to Chinese satellites as it’s being collected. Apparently, the first balloon was intercepted early on by U2 spy planes who can reach that high-altitude and higher. They likely captured the data stream from the balloon and jammed it’s ability to phone home data to China.
There are games played every day. Spy craft is fascinating but to reveal methods and capabilities removes a significant advantage. So it’s best to keep mum and keep operating. That’s the big reason they are so pissed at Snowden. He revealed the NSA was spying on Americans via their smartphones and social media. They weren’t using that data, they were seeking terrorists. My law they are supposed to ignore the US persons in intercepted communications and data. Well Obama changed that and provided 17 other agencies access to the NSA data. There are supposed to be FISA Court warrants to access that data but it was found many civilian ABC agency workers were running illegal queries for political weaponization. Then they used these tools to attack Trump and his staffers and appointees. The White House went so far as to unmask individuals listed only as US person 1, US person 2, etc. In the past the NSA would pass along intelligence but redact the US persons identity. All this was made possible by The Patriot Act and Obama’s change to allow access to NSA databases.
