I get a lot of flak for saying Texas is the next Georgia when it comes to professional politics and the ideological shift from Red to Blue. However, the grief matters not, because the reality of Texas turning left is very real even if Texans don’t want to admit it; here’s yet another datapoint. The only two GOP congressmen who did not support the reformed rules package were both from Texas. Representative Tony Gonzales voted against it, and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, did not vote.
Overall, the House of Representatives passed the rules package Monday night 220-213 with relatively little drama. It was the first order of business for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s new majority on the first day of the 118th legislative session. The 55-page package includes most of the concessions McCarthy made to the conservative caucus.
The new rules include the motion to vacate provision, allowing just one member to make a motion to remove the House speaker – one of the top conservative demands that will keep McCarthy in check.
WASHINGTON DC – The House rules plan that amounted to Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s first legislative victory on Monday night brings much bigger consequences than 55 pages suggest — it will shape the chamber’s operations and what bills can win approval over the next two years.
Adoption of the rules package is a routine step in setting up any new Congress, but what is traditionally seen as a “housekeeping” issue will effectively determine how Republicans can govern the chamber. That’s why the rules measure was the centerpiece of high-stakes negotiations between McCarthy and the crop of rebellious conservatives who kept from the gavel for much of last week, talks that started just after the House was called for Republicans in November.
[…] At the heart of the rules push by rank-and-file conservatives, including many in the Freedom Caucus, is a desire to shape a more inclusive legislative process that concentrates less power with leadership. To that end, they have secured promises from leaders that aren’t formally written down in the rules, such as allowing more amendments to be considered on the floor and more widely distributing committee positions. We have a few more election cycles to stop the arc of history from repeating itself. However, it is best to be prepared just in case…. Because if the slow descent into controlled chaos and big government dependency continues, the more self-sufficient you are – the longer you will be able to retain a freedom lifestyle of familiar reference.
Stay gray and remember, the potato alliance grows underground and gains multiple eyes in sunlight.
You are 100% correct about Texas from a captured standpoint. Crenshaw is my rep and it repulses me and everyone I know.
Van Taylor was ours until he was completely exposed and ousted ….. I live Texa-fornia …… most people refer to it as McKinney. From dominion voting systems to corrupt Registrar ….. offices are side by side in downtown McKinney. My Wife and I battle the influx and remind all the transplants …. God, Family, Guns and Country. Many red pills have been delivered.
My husband and I got our marriage license in McKinney 100yrs ago lol. Married in Plano. Sure was a different world back then.
Cheating is the only way that this idiot got elected.
didn’t Crenshaw run as a pseudo MAGA candidate?
Crenshaw, Cornyn, pieces of the same Crap.
They alternate holding the non dented end while polishing the democratic turd.
All talk, no action, gov Abbot fits right in the group. A “strongly worded letter” for the Demented One at the border? You’ve got to be kidding.
I ya’ll drive him crazy w/emails, phone calls and faxes for being such an embarrassing jerk.

Texas has an election fraud problem. Organize and get involved. The stakes are high and the steaks are higher.
Eyepatch McStain. Figures.
I was in Crenshaw’s district until the TX GOP gerrymandered me into Wesley Hunt’s district. Too early to tell how bad Hunt will become but he owes everything to the establishment so ’nuff said.
Crenshaw is mostly a disappointment. Sometimes o.k. on energy issues but that’s almost a given, being in the Houston metro area. He usually is a sassy anti-Freedom Caucus, anti-Maga, weak on things that matter, neo-con favoring endless war.
So, yeah, Crenshaw might as well be another McConnell. Sold out to globalists.
And you are right in observing we are whistling past the graveyard – mass immigration is Californicating Texas. And establishment Uniparty is Georgiafornicating Texas. Historic Texans are being outnumbered. The trend is not our friend.
The slight bump that Trump gained with Rio Grande Valley Hispanics is melting away like a snow cone on South Padre Island in July.

I would rather have an election thrown to the communists than win with MaoConnell’s people.
There will likely be a referendum on Texas independence placed on the ballot in November.

Really? Because our governor, Stitt (OK) has mentioned following Texas’ lead if that happens.
a global realignment is occurring.. and in America 247 years worth of cultivated corruption has reached it’s tipping point..
why go down with them..
it’s time for the State of Texas to save itself and reassert its status as an Independent Nation..
A New Republic..
Texas is again perched on the edge of Destiny..
so let the Texas People decide theirs..
TEXIT..
We’ve got a lot of border to defend if we Texit. Best to have neighboring states onboard for sure.

In my opinion the only choice the red states have is to exit the union.
otherwise the red states will turn blue
Dirtbag Dan Crenshaw, what a surprise…
“[T]he reality of Texas turning left is very real even if Texans don’t want to admit it.”
ADMIT IT???? We are lamenting it. We’ve been fighting this for decades.
Texas was at one point blue, too, btw. Now that we are urbanizing and being swamped by Californians, New Yorkers, and decade after decade of Mexican invaders it is only a matter of time before we are blue again…
Yep, I lived there when LBJ was president, and when Ann Richards was governor. But back then, being dem didn’t mean the same thing.
Mostly dems were big gov, big money, big social programs. They weren’t the crazies they are today.
LBJ talked and dreamed of taking America farther down the road to communism faster than FDR — “Great Society” initiative.
I know some real fine Texans who have recently taken up residence in Montana.
The winters are cold, the roads need repair, there’s no money except what they bring from Texas, but the social climate is just about the same, even if the spoke language sounds a little different.
For pipedream’s sake, I’d like to see the current United States reorganized into three or more separate nations with treaty and trade agreements – I’d continue to live in the one that stretches from Texas through Montana.
Republican Lawmakers Face Growing Grassroots Pressure to Ban Democrat Chairs

The Conservative group in my neighborhood (not the Republican group!) is meeting tonight and will discuss this very issue. How stupid is it to win an election, then hand committee reins over to the losers. Yep—that’s how we do it in Texas. Some really great conservative people are in Austin now fighting the good fight. (We almost dumped our ‘go along to get along’ rep in the primary but fell short by just over 100 votes. )
@Michael
Texans taking over California is a Great idea.
Conservatives are always playing defense by fleeing Blue Cities and States. Going on offense would stun the Left and inspire other conservatives to follow suit.
You first.
I’d bet if the election counts were honest, Texas wouldn’t be nearly as blue as reported. Every California transplant I work with is Red & glad they’re in Texas.
Dan Crenshaw may have just dropped his pants in front of everyone. He is turning out to be a bigger leftist than Schiff.
Crenshaw is a trained seal, which if you hadn’t noticed, explains his constant barking and clapping.
I watched a video explaining a LOT about MODERN politicians….it began with AOC talking about how she never thought of entering politics and they did a “casting search” for her where she was one of 10,000 people they looked at….her speeches and ideas are fed to her and are not her own……GOP started looking and managing their own new candidates, in the SAME way, starting in the 80s………the politicians are merely glorified employees playing a part and taking orders from TPTB….their positions, rantings, and votes are all decided FOR them…….even the “leadership”, while afforded a more comfortable living” are still NOT the ones making the decisions
The Uniparty/globalist elites are making all of the grooming decisions, but not all of the deisions.
“This is what ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion‘ is all about: it’s about drafting ‘others‘ into roles of global leadership so that these new elites can impose the global agenda on their own populations.”

Virtue Training Better?
Woke Signals Fake Again
When is Sidney Powell going to shift her focus to her own backyard – TEXAS – We need her here – She lives here.
Crenshaw and Gonzalez need to go.
I could have posted this just about anywhere today on the CTH, under just about any heading but I will do it here.
The Republican majority may impeach Mayorkas.
Why stop their?
Why not all the Secretaries and all the Directors of all the agencies who have refused to uphold all the Oaths they swore.
Why Not?
Az. is not going down without a fight.
KL is soldiering on with her lawsuits, and has vowed to take it to SCOTUS.
Katie Hobbs had her first “State of the State” Speech to the new Legislature, and the Az Freedom caucus gave her heck.
Two members stood, with their backs to her, others left within seconds of her starting to speak.
She is going to have a hard time getting any $, from those who have “the Power of the purse”.
Just saw Harmeet Dhillon tweet that the TX GOP leadership are supporting Ronna McDaniel. A vote for Ronna is a vote for the status quo.
OK, OK, show of hands…how many knew that Eye-Patch McCain would be one of the 2 not in support, before even reading it?
That’s a lot of hands up.
Carry on.
Stay gray. Good advice.
Two RINOs.
The stupid is strong with government employees. What could there possibly be in a RULES package that every democrat voted against? Is any more proof needed that this is a game being played in DC? Our team versus their team. No matter what the issue.
Sadly the One-eyed RINO, currently an endangered species, will go extinct in 2024. Instead of Darwin Awards the next election cycle will feature Trump Endorsements in the primaries.
That’s what happens when the Northeast and left coast locusts swarm these states . . . they’ve left behind an uninhabitable dump site of government by self righteous ambulance chasers and bring with them a Sunday NY Time’s view of fealty to the state and contempt for individualism.
Folks,
The problem in GA isn’t so much demographics; it’s the GA GOP! Vincent Agnelli has done excellent work on this. He pointed out that, in recent election cycles, the state GOP branches in GA, KY, and VA didn’t run candidates for all the seats. In GA, they skipped like 1/3 of the statehouse races. IOW, the GA GOP CEDED those races to the Dems! In VA, which I personally researched, the VA GOP blew off something like 9 races for the House of Delegates, and they blew off 3 or 4 VA State Senate races. Going into one of the recent election cycles, the Dems enjoyed a 55-45 majority in the lower house, while they had a 21-19 majority in the Senate. If the VA GOP had fielded candidates for all races; if they’d won just 25% of them; then they could have CONTROLLED BOTH SIDES OF THE VA STATEHOUSE! They could’ve stopped Gov. Ralph “Coonman” Northam from implementing a lot of his radical agenda.
As the old lottery commercials go, you have to be IN it to win it! If you blow off races, you forfeit them; you automatically cede those seats to the Democrats. SO! I don’t know if demographics are solely to blame for states going purple, then blue; if you dig a little deeper, you’ll likely find that the state GOP didn’t bother to field candidates for many of the races; i.e. the Dems run unopposed for many of those seats, thus winning them by default. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that the GOP WANTS to remain in the minority…
Eyepatch McCain can suck it. We are not secure until we clear our voter rolls in defense of Article 1, Section 4, Clause 1 of the Constitution. Period.
“I get a lot of flak for saying Texas is the next Georgia when it comes to professional politics and the ideological shift from Red to Blue…the reality of Texas turning left is very real even if Texans don’t want to admit it…”
Sundance is over the target so often he must have been a bomber pilot in his former life. 😏
Side note/question about the Treehouse – I always thought it would be cool to have some Merch from this site. Has CTH ever considered selling Merch like T-shirts, Hats, Coffee mugs, etc.?
I have no doubt there are some creative Treepers that could help create logos and designs. Be a great way to help support the site IMO.
The reality of a left-leaning Texas is the same as California. The people of California are OVERWHELMINGLY on the right. It’s the government which seized power and control over the elections which keeps them consistently Left!
In Texas, the vote scandals are numerous. People in Texas need to wake up and fight back or lose it all.
My understanding is Crenshaw is CIA? I thought that I picked up that up from the past somewhere. Doesn’t really matter cause he certainly isn’t MAGA, he certainly isn’t conservative, and based on his past and his statements, he’s not even a rhino repub…..hes a establishment deepstate rat under demonrat control masquerading as an R. Only normies would buy this package in any form! Gone from his committee is priceless! So too are the committee loses by Schifty Schiff, and the rest. It about frickin time and I hope it’s under their skin and irritating the hell out of them…more to come I hope!
Schiff Pelosi Waters AOC all of should be censored for lying, instigating violence against conservatives, insider trading, refusing to follow the laws of US security, lying about President Trump and the ridiculous Russia lies!
Crenshaw would be better off wearing sunglasses like Ray Charles and singing the blues
been to the Green Dragon a few times,,,,we will need another Green Dragon, and another Patrick Henry, and another Nathan Hale,,,,where are they, who will step up?
Crenshaw has been outed as a Kinzinger – best he look for that CNN gig.
Crenshaw shames his fellow vets. He is a mutt!!
Hey Texas…Can someone Primary this “Eye-Patch GOP Pirate” out of a job?
What a disappointment he has been…
Did Tony Gonzales or Dan Crenshaw explain why they abstained? If not, voters from their districts need to demand a full explanation. Exactly what did they not like about the rules package.
I have said this at a few other sights. I live in Crenshaw’s district. His district was redrawn to contain a large part of Montgomery County, which contains The Woodlands where I live. I am involved in local politics and consider Kevin Brady (our just retired former congressman) a friend. I was with him yesterday. I can assure you Crenshaw’s act plays horribly here and he will definitely have several primary challengers. His time is numbered.
Call his office and demand an explanation for abstaining from the rules package vote, and then let us know what the reasons are.
And … we just had an election so we’re stuck with Crenshaw for 2 years. Why wasn’t he primaried in 2022?
dan is the HOR’s john mcnasty wanna be. He got has acted up once too many times. He thinks more highly of himself than we do. He made an apology, then was not voted chair of his committee wish. Yay.
tony is a complete POS. He is the replacement adam kinsinger. Fine. Now we know. He will used by the media to trash repukes. So be it!
Another we must watch is mace. She is not a good gal.
I am not particularly happy with mtg. She was on Charlie Kirk yesterday. She could not help gloat and trash the 20. She deliberately threw them under the bus. Making comments that were not true and patted herself for her early support of kevin. She trashed Rosendale for not taking Trump’s call. In my opinion, she had no place to call Trump and petition his help with the 6 hold outs. She was completely out of line. She thinks she is special. mtg has revealed herself as a self righteous backstabber, willing to sell out others in order to make herself seem special, a female swindwinding opportunist.
MTG is devoted to Trump. That’s a good thing.
It’s Boebert who is the backstabber. Not only did she work against Trump, she publicly criticized him and demanded that he rescind his endorsement of McCarthy. I don’t know who died and made her the Queen of MAGA, but that was even worse than anything DeSantis has done to Trump, and why there aren’t more people calling her out for it I have no idea. And she did this after Trump helped her win her election! She barely won too, a margin so tight it triggered an automatic recount. It’s very possible that without Trump’s endorsement she would have lost her election.
I think Boebert is amazing. She was threatened by McCarthy’s henchmen and in my view was stabbed in the back by MTG. MTG has lost a lot of support from people due to her “devotion” to McCarthy. It’s all so odd and questionable. And Boebert’s criticism of Trump was justified. I will not understand Trump’s support for McCarthy when McCarthy has betrayed him on a number of occasions.
Boebert’s election was won on the margin due to Colorado sending out 30,000 mail out ballots to FOREIGNERS. Yes, the criminal secretary of state in Colorado has no compunction to carry out legitimate elections. Just as Tina (can’t remember her last name) who the Colorado Secretary of State bullied judicially on a continual basis. Put her through on a state level the same lawfare that Trump encounters all the time.
MTG’s selfies with McCarthy were so just tacky and questionable.
I didn’t think they would pass it. Glad I was wrong, but wonder about what was excluded, and why.
Given that Texas is about 30% ex-Californians and 30% illegals, its not surprising that it’s trending donkey blue.
Texan here. You are not wrong. In fact, you are not stating the reality strongly enough. We were sorely disappointed when Abbott shut Texas down – history is mistated on this often but we had two businesses and both were unapologetically shut down, one for good. We are still digging out of the hole that was 2020 for us. If we were not certain that Abbott is not on our side, the 2021 legislative session capped it off for us no mistake. The grassroots Republicans here had 8 objectives, all critically important such as protecting children from gender mutilation. What was Abbott doing? Worrying about folks chaining up their own dogs in their own yards. Not kidding.
Supposedly Republicans controlled the governorship and both houses of the state legislature. So how many of the eight well supported by the grassroots objectives were passed? TWO. Two out of eight well thought out highly supported conservative objectives. Now tell me how red Texas is.
In addition to that, there was a big effort to primary Abbott. Polls of active Republicans ahead of the election had Allen West up over 40% in a varied pool of candidates. West ended up a distant third with 11%. Now yes, I’ve been told all my life how hard it is to primary out a “popular” incumbent, but just color me suspicious. I will admit that other Texans I talk to are loathe to admit that Abbott is no DeSantis. It’s damn scary is what it is. I wasn’t afraid that Beto would win. Abbott is way more useful to whoever is pulling the strings.
Swamp is getting deeper in Texas. Very sad to see this in Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. No wonder our governor is all talk no action. But he is playing 3 card monte with us and will sometimes throw us a bone. Hope the GOP primaries them both. They remind me of McConnell, they want to be back in the minority. Or they are not republicans. Hope our state GOP leaders are reading this.
I wrote a fairly in-depth article on the 17th. Unlike all the other articles condemning it, mine offers a solution that is, IMO bulletproof.
“A Magic Bullet Will be Needed to Kill the 17th Amendment.”
https://muddythoughts.blogspot.com/2008/07/repudiating-17th-amendment.html
Just a thought… Kind of a long read but since you brought it up, it may be worth your time.
Thank you. I pray that independent thinking and writing will proliferate.
Crenshaw has proven to be a great disappointment.
I was excited about Crenshaw initially, but his bloom is faded. I am from Texas & in Texas. I live in Tex 35th district which is socialist south Austin, running down IH 35 and into a northern neighborhood in SA. Yes turning blue is a real thing, based on the Population centers voting communist. San Antonio has only 1 Conservative district.
He’s nothing but McCain with an eye patch. I just call ’em McCain stains. We need to crush ’em next election.
Remember to put this event in the proper perspective. When Democrats/RINOs negotiate it’s to increase their own personal wealth and power. When the Conservatives/Freedom Caucus negotiated and got these House rule changes it was for we the people. It’s now up to McCarthy to backup his word with actions
the so called flak is to be expected. And I understand it. I mean who here really enjoy realizing that your representatives in your own state are weak, inept, and corrupt. It sucks. It is very hard for most people to get this TRUTH and not feel awful about. One particular persistent nature of human beings is that we go through a process before we change our minds. This is a reasonable and expected condition.
for instance…my own representatives voting for mccarthy. It really really upsets me.
and yes, I understand that there were rules changes and agenda terms agreed.
but lets be clear: ALL OF THOSE CONDITIONS COULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED WITHOUT CHOOSING MCCARTHY.
so when I hear about “complaints”, I understand them.. I do. It often seems unbearable to hear these truths and then to defend the indefensible. I’ve done it. We ALL do it.
the answer is to find a path that addresses that truth…reconciles it. not dismisses it with excuses.
we are no longer in Kansas. There are new rules that apply…new rules that have existed for a very long time that many of us have simply decided to ignore.
the TRUTH will always champion over our own tendencies.
The corruption depends on you not changing your mind. acquiescing. understand this is how they achieve corruption unchallenged.
accept that challenge and start pushing back.
God Bless America
McCrenshaw. We’ve know for quite a while he’s a rino.
Gonzales won’t last past 2024 and there is a reason they call Crenshaw, EYE PATCH MCCAIN!😏
