I live in Alabama and I wrote to Tubberville urging him NOT to support McConnell in any way, citing his comments about “acceptable candidates” as a good clue that McConnell was not about America, its people, or the Constitution but about power for McConnell. Tubberville wrote me back and said, “I’ve been a coach for a long time and I can spot a winning team and a winning plan.” He went on to include several more coaching analogies which were just as idiotic and inane. It so infuriated me that I replied with the question; “So Coach, are you one of Mitch’s stooges or one of Mitch’s *itches?” Stupid doesn’t get close to describing him!

No. It is not Trump’s fault. It is an observation of fact. DJT spent a lot of time and money in 2022 rallying for MAGA candidates. Those rallies played a big part in predictions of the red wave, which, for reasons of (mainly) vote-fraud, did not materialize. No doubt, DJT cannot by himself alone repair the national vote fraud scam that reaches into every precinct so that’s off the table.
However, when the big battle over House Speaker began, it would have been quick and easy for Trump to call for a Washington D.C. rally. If he’d done so, literally millions of people would have shown up. And the battle in the House would still be going on, with a lot of support from people, MAGA people, outside. That didn’t happen. It was an option DJT had at his immediate disposal and he chose not to take it. That is all.
Or… Trump intentionally spent a lot of time rallying the disenfranchised into reinvesting their faith into voting for Republicans to stop the creation of a new party and dozens of other things.

I have a very good friend who has been on the periphery of DC politics for decades and his description of how people get sucked into the Swamp has proven to be correct far more often than not! This is my paraphrase of how he first explained it to me, many years ago…
“When “conservatives” first get elected they are on fire and ready to go to DC and shake things up! They arrive and immediately notice the “stench” of the Swamp, and are horrified by what they are seeing…then, they start getting introduced around, getting new assignments, having people stand up when they enter a room, and discovering that “important” people are eager to meet with them, and slowly, something in them starts changing. By the time they are in their second term, the “stench” doesn’t seem that strong anymore, and somewhere around year five, they return to DC from a trip back home and don’t see a Swamp at all…they just look around and smile and say, “Oh, good, the Hot Tub is open!” and they jump right into it!!”

Rogers is obviously a swamp RINO. I just wish the Rinos would fight as hard for actual conservatism as they do for the status quo.
With the elevation of McCarthy to Speaker it looks like not much will change as the new “rules” get spun and re-spun until there is not much difference between a Pelosi run House and a McCarthy run House.
