From what little I have seen of Byron Donalds I think he would be a good choice for the Speaker of the House. Bear with me why I explain why I think this.
When I married into my husband’s family there was a lot of left-over animosity from the divorce of his parents. Everyone picked their side and held firm as who was the cause. They still gathered as a family for all celebrations, but the division was always there. Coming into this family years after this divorce I did not have that animosity. I was cleared eyed to what was now not then. I did not live in their past. Some of these family members would balk at me when I would not let their past interfere with my neutrality. I treated both sides with respect regardless of how or what they thought or felt for me as the newcomer. I earned the respect of both my in-laws because I was always able to navigate the family dynamics and actually made the family gatherings much more cohesive.
Byron Donalds does not have or hold the same baggage as the majority of the House of Rep. He by all appearances seems to be a fair, calm and thoughtful in his presentations whether it be on a TV interview or speaker on the floor of the house. He can separate himself from the emotional baggage held by most member of the house and focus on the now. He knows what’s at stake, and I really believe he has the backbone to stand firm and not allow himself to be bullied into submission.
If Kevin McCarthy has the best interest of the country, he could step aside.
McCarthy does not have the best interest of the country. The two sides to pick from are two sides of the same coin.

The very fact that McCarthy is willing to give Democrats their way to secure his own “Precious” is the very proof he’s unfit to be Speaker.

They are both traitors of the first degree.

Remember too that just before he entered politics Trump had a popular ‘reality’ show called The Apprentice.
The main focus was on his evaluation and judgment of individuals. And many of his decisions were based on gut feeling, instinct and advice from his daughter and close associates. With decidedly mixed results. Omarosa for instance.
Human behavioral patterns don’t change much over time. That was the same mindset and approach he applied in his next job. And like the TV show, there were never any reconsideration or doubts once decisions became final. More of a self defensive doubling down. An ego thing, perhaps.
Being a realistic I never expected perfection or a saintly lifestyle. And his actual accomplishments are historically monumental, given the degree of hate he faced. Obviously he needed that enormous ego to sustain self confidence and fight a world of enemies.
But outside of the Whitehouse it’s a different ball game. Take his judgments and opinions seriously, but they are not infallible or automatically the definitive criteria. The playing field is crowded and the chaos is thick.
