Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the lying liar who lies, Charlie Crist, held their one and only debate last night. Of all the gubernatorial debates so far, this one was probably the best. Thankfully, DeSantis won the debate on substance because Crist just sucks. However, DeSantis flubbed the most predictable question that was asked.
Every Floridian should vote for DeSantis, because Crist is just an unbearable alternative. That said, the insufferable Charlie Crist asked Governor DeSantis to commit to a four-year term in office and promise the Florida voters he would not abandon his state to run for the GOP nomination in 2024; effectively making DeSantis only a six-month reelected governor because national campaigning will start in June 2023.
It is true, the question should have come from the moderator, because it’s a transparently obvious and predictable question. However, regardless of who actually asked it, the non-response from Governor DeSantis was telling. WATCH (just first minute):
.
A few things about that non-response are remarkable.
First, even a middle school debate coach would have known that question was likely in the debate. The fact that DeSantis did not have a well-rehearsed and prepared canned answer to the question is a reflection of stunningly poor debate prep.
Second, the evasive and non-truthful answer he did give, totally avoiding the question, shows the incredible weakness within a candidate that is a specific outcome of a lack of honesty. That response is also reflective of why Donald Trump wins every debate. Trump wields truth as an effective weapon.
HONESTY – Ron DeSantis could have said, “Charlie, because of my successful leadership in the state of Florida, there are a lot of people who want me to run for the GOP nomination in 2024. There are also a lot of people offering money as an incentive for me to make that decision because the current state of our nation under Joe Biden is in such a mess. Whether I will or not is an open question that voters should consider; but I can assure everyone my work on behalf of Florida -a state I love- will never change.”
That type of an answer would be honest and respected. Florida voters deserve to know where Governor DeSantis stands on a 2024 presidential campaign. After all, it will consume most of the focus and time of the governor for 18 months before November 2024.
That type of an answer should also have been canned in a response awaiting the question. The absence of that type of an honest answer tells us something about the campaign authenticity aspect to Ron DeSantis.
The truth has no agenda, while the absence of truth always does.
This authenticity aspect is why Donald Trump won every one of the dozen debates in 2015 and 2016. He just speaks the truth regardless of comfort, expectation or disposition.
Q: “You have called women fat pigs etc.?” – A: “Only Rosie O’Donnell”…
Q: “You called Mexicans rapists etc.?” – A: “Well, someone’s doing the raping”…
Q: “You only support people who like you?” – A: “It’s true. I only like the people who like me”…
Q: “You have been talking to Kim Jong-un?” – A: “True. Shouldn’t we talk to everyone and try to avoid conflict? We also got along great”…
There’s no pretense in Trump’s responses. There is an authenticity in the humanness of the honesty. Trump wins debates because he answers the questions honestly as he sees them. He’s not uncomfortable being honest about his intent, reasons or even his own self-image.
Ron DeSantis on the other hand avoids his own discomfort in answering a question that should have been easily predicted. There is something very unnerving about it.
Every Floridian should vote for Ron DeSantis, granting him the benefit of the doubt that he will be around as governor for the next four years. However, if/when DeSantis wins reelection, he would destroy his own career by announcing a 2024 run six months later.
Here’s a video of the full debate:
.
We all know Kari Lake would have had a much better answer also she genuinely wants to be governor and doesnt seem interested in VP.
Still, the search for a true MAGA VP is important.
The last thing we want is Judas Pence 2.0 in the wings. Given how evil these people are I don’t put ‘anything’ beyond them should PDJT get elected a 3rd time.
Pence was strongarmed onto Trump by the GOPe, just as Bush on Reagan. They do it by threatening to blow up the convention.
This time around it looks like Trump is working to ensure he has the leverage to select his own. His choice will be a good one.
I hope he can pull it off. The first miracle is to get through this RINO trap above. I’m not aware of anyone that has in living memory?
The second miracle is for PDJT to not accidentally select a RINO snake that outwardly appears as MAGA.
I don’t know who Trump can trust, ever again.
I sure as hell don’t trust anybody now.
Ron Johnson…And he would make a great president.
And Lyndon on John.
How would they “blow up the convention”?
Pence was leading the strong arming himself right from the start. Remember, HE leaked to the press that he was going to be VP, going behind DJT’s back.
like Reagan before, the GOPe will insist on their man as VP
It’s still the McConnell Party. Until that whole inner party has much less influence you will not see any combined pro-American ticket
That dirty old “McConnell Party” may soon be coming to an end.
The Alaska GOP formally censured Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell over the weekend for the Kentucky lawmaker’s interference in the Arctic Senate race between two Republicans.
On Monday, the state Republican central committee announced the results of an overwhelming vote to admonish the national party leader over attack ads against Kelly Tshibaka, the candidate endorsed by the Alaska GOP who is challenging incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski. The final vote came to 49-8 in favor of a resolution censuring McConnell and the minority leader’s Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) which has pumped more than $5 million into the race to defend a key McConnell ally in the upper chamber.
“No one from Alaska wants big shots from the Lower 48 meddling in our elections, and they certainly don’t want D.C. Republicans lying about the candidate who’s been endorsed by the Alaska GOP,” Mary Ann Pruitt, an advisor to Tshibaka, told The Federalist. “Alaska Republicans are telling Mitch McConnell to stay out of it. But this goes to show you who Lisa Murkowski is aligned with. She’s wearing the jersey of the Washington establishment of Biden, Pelosi, and McConnell, and she’s not on Alaska’s team.”
Can you hear us now, Senator McConnell?
Between this and Wyoming’s work on Liz, I think and hope I may see a microscopic, tiny, little crack appearing in the Uniparty.
I have no doubt China Mitch’s gobbler neck is trembling from the quaking of his boots!
“I have no doubt China Mitch…is trembling”.
Perhaps not trembling but he’s definitely aware that, like the Wicked Witch of Oz, his power over the DC Senate Winged Monkeys is melting.
Thank you Toto Trump.
Personally, I’m tracking what Rick Scott is doing. He may be the person Trump plans to insert after removing Mitch. For now.
#PoliticalJenga.
Excellent reply…..good job.
this is why Nov 8 is critical
the GOPe “will insist”.
Very misleading verb choice.
Past tense DID insist/encourage may be correct. The future tense, ” will insist” is not.
President Trump has been working since 2015 to ensure that now the GOPe doesn’t have the power to insist that he do anything.
A Pence 2.0 VP? Lol. Nope.
“The search for …VP is important”.
Agreed. Fortunately thats President Trumps job not ours.
We can help by praying for him and by being comfy letting Trump be Trump.
well RDS to be certain does not seem interested in being VP either
It’s usually a dead end, that’s why.
Don’t worry, djs.
The RINOs will figure out a way to put the “Kari wants to ditch her AZ. and run for Prez 2024” idea out there before too long.
They already tried and she directly batted them down.

Actually Youngkin is their backup candidate in case Ron doesn’t pan out.
DeSantis could have easily turned that question around by saying, “Charlie is jealous that no one considers him to have Presidential timber. Having leadership skills are positive assets Charlie, not flaws.”
Still would have been evasive. Crist got him – there was only one answer for de Santis’ core base.
That’s an unacceptable answer in mt opinion. Trying to be clever doesn’t cut it.
I agree with Sundance, honesty is still the best policy. A pithy or snarky response in this situation does nothing to allay the real fears of many Floridians – they want a Governor that is both effective and present.
I think he was momentarily confused about whether or not he should answer, given the fact that it was a clear violation of the rules. He might have been waiting for the moderator to remind Charlie, and rephrase the “question”.
Dems NEVER obey the rules, RDS should have been prepared.
True, true, true and also true.
I watched the debate. Desantis was interested in being middle of the road, under control and poised. I am sure his new campaign advisors have him doing these things. It is stale and inauthentic. He often didn’t even respond to Crist’s attacks.
I thought DeSantis “won” the debate, but he sure left a lot on the table.
That’s what happens when you’re inauthentic.
It’s the classic GOPe consultant grooming that leads to a polite loss. The uniparty has the roles down pat.
Who vets the GOP consultants?
The Democrat party?
Karl Rove and his “ilk.”
And yes, by that I agree with you – the Democrat party.
To those who are saying that DeSantis is a good governor or even a great governor, please stop.
Good governors don’t impose good policies to advance their careers; they impose good policies out of love for the people they serve. It’s now painfully obvious that DeSantis is imposing good policies solely to advance his career, and he is thus NOT a good governor.
Rewarding this behavior is tantamount to accepting a bribe…
Seethe harder.
The imperialists commenting on the DeSantis threads never cease to amaze me.
Who the hell are you to accuse DeSantis of not caring about Floridians or implementing good policies only for advancement purposes?
How about you STOP making stupid and baseless comments.
Wow, seriously too much
I support DeSantis for Florida governor. He’s doing a good job. The moment he tries to skip President Bush in line, DeSantis becomes worthless and I will help burn his political career to the ground, without mercy.
So long as he plans on serving his full 4 year term he’s golden. He likely won’t be Trump’s running mate because both reside in Florida.
“The moment he tries to skip President Bush in line, DeSantis becomes worthless and I will help burn his political career to the ground, without mercy.”
He’s trying to do that right now as we speak. And I’m pretty sure you meant to say “President Trump” in the above quote.
Well I will fully and completely support him skipping in front of any Bush.
Which Bush did you have in mind? Pappy is dead, but that’s really only a minor inconvenience….see Biden. W has already served 2 terms that could be tricky. Jeb! has yet to serve and has ambitions. Then there is George P, Laura, Neil, Jenna and Barbara, a whole bunch of Bushes. Can you narrow it down for us.
Yep.
Someone who genuinely cared about Floridians would have answered like Kari Lake did.
Someone who genuinely cared about Floridians would have thanked Crist for asking the question even though it broke the rules they’d agreed on because it gave him that chance to allay voters fears.
He would have said that he’s 100% Florida First focused and will, if hired again by Floridians to be their governor, he’d serve as their governor for another 4 years.
As an Ultra-MAGA behind the iron curtain in WA state, we would exchange our governor for FL’s in New York minute.
But still, representatives attempting to be popular by implementing MAGA policies are still good even if deep down they could care less, is it not?
I think you are rightfully concerned though with what happens when/if their internal calculation turns towards personal power and wealth and away from MAGA? Namely, does this person have a core set of MAGA beliefs that can’t be changed at any price?
You would be wise to fear that, as we have seen many a superficial MAGA become corrupted into a RINO many times.
If you were in SWFL and saw what he did and is doing, you wouldn’t say that.He got and is getting things done in the face of total destruction and lack of any organization. I have been amazed at what he has been able to organize and get done. I think Sundance feels the same because he has been thru hurricanes and their responses.
As a good leader canny DeSantis finds a nice parade and gets himself in front of it
wow just wow , not one of you would withstand what he had to face during pandemic, I am loosing my faith in the so called conservatives, they are as fanatical and as judgmental as the left. Until Sundance start showing the politician side of Desantis you were all cheering him and praising him.
Then I guess it is up to We the People to march in the right direction.
That’s just nasty, and undeserved. Apologize.
Actually, I live very close to SWFL. SEFL, to be exact.
I was going to give DeSantis the benefit of a doubt when Ian struck, but he blew it with his endorsement of Joe O’Dea.
amen
Oh good grief, give me a break. He endorsed someone you disagree with. Trump endorsed Romney, McConnell, Miss Lindsey, on and in the list goes.
But, but, but Ron DeSantis endorsing anyone negates anything good he may have done.
Get over yourself
He didn’t just endorse someone who is disagreed with, he endorsed someone who said PUBLICLY that he’d work against Trump.
Get over YOUR self.
Ron endorsed O’Dea AFTER President Trump issued a public statement that MAGA was too smart to vote for openly anti Trump senate candidate, O’Dea.
Did Guv Ron also endorse and make robo calls for the Republican running to be COs governor? Nope.
Ron just jumped in to help the anti Trump Senate candidate Trump told MAGA not to vote for; a guy who has no chance of winning unless the Swamp rigs the election for him which is possible.
An O’Dea win in CO would give fodder for the fake narrative that Ron is more powerful than Drumpf.
Ill be watching the outcome with great interest. Hopefully MAGA voters in CO will vote for the Libertarian so a vote rig will be obvious.
“Get over yourself”.
Suggestion:
Find a mirror. Repeat the command. Then follow those orders.
He’s done a lot of things that get press that pleases the FOX news audience. The tell is these things never really do anything after the initial PR – classic politician.
That’s ridiculous.
I am thankful every day that the little kids who live around me were able to attend school in person loooong before children in other states.
Not only that, parents were given a choice initially. > Your child could continue w/ Online if you were uncomfortable with sending them back in person.
So, classrooms *gradually* filled back up again, as the parents and students felt more comfortable.
Friends w/ kids in other states got majorly f*cked up during that time fr/ being isolated. > NOT in Florida.
You think thats not a big deal or that it doesn’t have lasting consequences for the people effected?
WOW.
GA, WY, TX, SD, MT, etc. all did as well. When GA opened up, DeSantis said Kemp was being reckless so yea not impressed.
My own children, in a blue state, were out only for two months in the Spring of 2020 and otherwise were back in school the whole time.
So he did nothing good, he saved my family with his pandemic stance, we lost everything in Nevada and moved to Florida where it was like moving to a free state. We lost over $400,000 income in Nevada we lost our dream house we had to sell as fast as we could to avoid any trouble and you tell me he is not a good governor? How fast we forget, yes he is not Trump, but we absolutely benefited from him being a very good governor who against all media and all the attacks protected our livelihood. He faced without fear all the attacks during pandemic and you say he was advancing his career? You sir/mam are a fool!!!
God punishes those who do good deeds for bad reasons, for they do not come from the heart. I agree with His reasoning wholeheartedly.
Please substantiate this with Scripture. It’s a very sweeping statement.
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
-Matthew 6:1, NIV
Judge not lest ye be judged yourself.
You have no idea what is in DeSantis’ heart or his motives.
My sentiments too Arthur. The commenters who spew the DeSantis hate were never conservatives and in some cases are just here to be divisive.
If you lived in Florida these last couple of years you know DeSantis was a well researched and protective leader in regards to personal freedom. Vaccine mandates, masking (special needs kids no LESS) and the stance that early treatments are legit and should be available – he was right on and he saved a few of my family members from worse outcomes.
But- you know he might run in 2024 so I better hate him.
It’s a stretch, worthy of a leftist, to say the commenters who point out the true and real negatives that desantis has adorned himself with are “spewing desantis hate”.
Do better.
“I can see in his eyes… he’s a creep”.
“He’s an opportunist, he doesn’t care about Floridians”
“DeSantis is probably dumber than we thought”
You get the picture. These last few months have been a real eye opener on this site. I’ve got types like Lulu responding to my posts on here asking me what does conservative even mean? Implying MAGA is all that matters.
Ummmm ok- maybe Lulu can ask the owner/author of this website what conservative means (The Conservative Treehouse).
I’m as “better” as I’m going to get. I’ll move along from here for the sake of all needing an echo chamber.
Leaving to find a comfy “echo chamber” while pretending those who criticize/question Ron need an “echo chamber”.
Adorbs and ironic projection.
“Spew the DeSantis hAtE”.
Notice the emotional framing of DeSantis criticism or concerns as OMG hAtE sPeEcH.
I hope he just focuses on continuing to be a great governor, as he has been. He was authentic, brave, manly, and himself…Which made him a hero. And that might be the best position for him.
He’s being corrupted by the Uniparty.
You need to go back on your medications
This shows once again his stint as Governor wasn’t about his love for Floridians and creating a strong state because of that loyalty. DeSantis is like almost every other politician he wanted power and position and that’s what motivates him. Motivation is so important because that dictates the framing of your decisions. If you care about the people you reflect on how this impacts them first, second, and last. If you are about position and power your thoughts go first to you, then to your power, and to your position. Will my decision impacts me negatively this has nothing to do with the condition of the people unless it’s a side benefit.
So do you do psychic mind readings for everyone or just politicians you don’t like🙄
I don’t think that’s him. I think he was subverted, and is not strong enough to resist.
I am reading a book by John Sanford and this is from the book, The Hanged Man’s Song:
Politicians F… with people. That’s what they do. That’s their job. Every day they
get up and wonder who they’re gonna f… with that day. Then they go and do it.
They’re not of much use – they don’t make anything, create anything, think any
great thoughts. They just f… with the rest of us.”
We should always remember that.
I love that series.
It is true. We really need to find a way to work around the politicians, or find a different modality, or something, because it just isn’t working out. I am still disgusted from an event I went to last week. They get coached, trained, put on their little outfits, spout out people want to hear, and the people fall for it. Behind closed doors the people are beneath them.
The candidates have zero interest in doing what they claim they are going to do, it is for the money, the prestige, perks, not having to work the 9-5. Two terms and they get healthcare for life. Their faces are like a switch that can be turned off and on, their fakes smiles make me puke. It is all a game to them.
And we get inferior representation (or none at all) from them.
DeSantis did say a while back he wouldn’t run if Trump was running.
Since that time he’s been more coy and aloof about his plans. His fundraising indicates he plans to run. As far as why, I think like any politician he has an ego. I think some heavy hitters have stroked his ego and convinced him he’s their guy. Yes, they are using him. The question is does he know that? Is he using them?
We’ll all know those answers in a couple of months. Right now the issue at hand is the Governorship of the state of Florida.
There’s more than one way of looking at it.
PDJT is under multiple investigations by very corrupt processes purposed to nail him to the wall legitimate or not.
PDJT turns 78 in 2024.
PDJT has not slammed DeSantis like he has others.
DeSantis could very well be coppering his bets. May not be the wisest strategy. May not be one that endears him to the MAGA base – to his eventual demise. Or, it may be a smart one if the insider word has it that the odds of PDJT weathering the assaults are declining. Who knows?
One thing is obvious, if the core of the reasoning flows from MAGA base considerations – those are reasonably well understood. What else is influencing the thought process? Personally, though I’m not completely convinced. I don’t think DeSantis will run if PDJT announces he’s all in. He couldn’t possibly win that contest, barring no surprises on the legal front, and would basically set himself on a career kamakazi mission.
Actually, the Harvard trained lawyer politician said “I have no pLaNs to run”.
Plans change plus, for politicians, others make the plans then hire politician actors to sell those plans to voters and/or do what the planners tell them to do.
Rons ” I have no plans to run” (right now) =/= I will not run even if President Trump does.
Sundance you hit the nail on the head with regards to PDJT and how he is very unique in politics for telling what he sincerely believes is the truth, warts and all sometimes. The truth is also sometimes unpleasant, but so be it.
Fortunately, he is not alone, but those that will speak the truth to this evil power infecting our nation and the world are too rare in politics.
Ronald Reagan also came across as genuine and forthright in his beliefs and couldn’t be bought off to change them.
Honesty doesn’t mean you are right about a particular position 100% of the time, but it shows an innate desire to seek the Truth and thus also be open to changing your original position to align with it, not to bend it to your own interests.
I love President Trump.
I accept that he had to compliment McConnell, express confidence in Bill Barr, and endorse far too many Rino’s over the years.
I don’t consider him dishonest, just strategically navigating politics.
Maybe we should tone down the whole “everyone else is guilty of dishonesty” charge.
Please do you all do any self reflection? The hypocrisy and double standards is straight outta the lefts mindset.
All good points about PDJT.
Politics in general is a very corrupt and compromising environment by its very nature.
And no man who has ever walked this Earth is even close to the perfection of God, it’s just that some are far less perfect than others.
For the many times that PDJT ‘let us down’ it’s hard to tell whether it was politics, bad advice, bad judgment, personal self-interest, or some combination. In politics, it can often be a decision to take one step back in order to take two steps forward. The very nature of the separation of powers can also create compromises.
I think with PDJT though we can almost categorically rule out personal self-interest because he doesn’t need this top job and it’s clear in my mind that if he didn’t feel a spiritual calling that he can’t ignore he would not be doing this.
He reminds me in some ways of George Washington who also didn’t want the job and would rather be back home. But he knew he was the only one that could hold the new country together.
Hopefully helpful feedback: telling people they’re acting like “leftists” is no more persuasive than calling them fascists or white supremicists.
I think the authenticity of herschel walker is wonderful and so I am happy herschel is finally come back ahead in georgia polls today
I wonder if Charlie reads the CTH
You bet his team does. Several of them are sharing all sorts of gibberish here this morning.
Really, I actually wonder if DeSantis’ team has been commenting here this morning….
Oh my? Maybe.
G-Pol is one
Plenty.
“GiBbEriSh”.
I wonder if Charlie can read.
Lol!
He can do that also been an a** since high school.
DeSantis is choosing his friends and he is choosing the Uniparty to move him forward.
Deniers can deny. The bloom is off the ruse and I for one will never support these backstabbing, MAGA hating people for President.
They continue to mock Trump and they continue to mock the base of America loving Trump supporters. They use DeSantis to rub our faces in their hate for Trump and to use him to achieve what 7 years of the Democrat and MSM couldn’t achieve.
Furthermore, I am tired of making excuses for the Tricky Dicky Republicans and their GOPe/ RNC Trump hating groupies.
If Trump doesn’t run because these evil people keep spewing the lies (Cheney), I will keep my faith in God. I won’t be holding my nose and dancing with the devil.
So if it is DeSantis vs Biden you won’t vote.
Thanks a lot.
Why would it be him?
You think the GOPe will get their (Jeb) nominee this time around?
How ’bout this, if it’s Biden vs. Pence, or Biden vs. Haley, will YOU vote.
Because in that case, I’m only voting down-ticket and saying f- the top line. I will never be McCain-Obama’d again.
Tell me what difference you have seen with the GOPe in the last 5 years and give me a reason to vote for him with McConnell and the RINOs supporting him.
You are welcome.
Thanks for asking.
Correct. If DeSantis rather than Trump is the choice in 2024 that means the Swamp schemers coup succeeded. Consequently, I would NOT vote for DeSantis.
Doing a great job in Florida (stay there). If he runs against Trump I will look upon him the same way I look at Hillery.
Once again DeSantis shows that he is NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.
Sounds like it was a debate between Joe Isuzu and Jon Lovitz.
Transparency. The truth is transparent. The truth is self evident.
Uniparty fake news promotes horse races, so uniparty voters never suspect or even question collusion. It makes splitting, harvesting, cheating, and uniparty post-election fears of ballot audits easier to manage, cover up, or subvert with virtual, not visible, recounts.
Uniparty exposure is more likely to occur with an insurgent landslide, not a horse race.
–Donald J. Trump Oct. 22, 2022
Hey, how were you able to do that drop-down trick? Magacadabra, indeed! XD
Well, Ron did answer the question. It’s a no.
He’s no Donald Trump or Hershel Walker, for that matter. DeSantis does not speak from the heart.
He should have paused, and in a dignified manner, asked the moderator if Charlie’s question was a violation of the rules, and then wait for the moderator to shame Charlie.
DeSantis is an honest person who lies poorly. Or who is poor at deception and withholding information.
Pres. Trump spoiled us. Now we know the ring of passion only for the people and not political machinations.
Ron the RINO. Run run run!
Ron knows people will not vote for him if he makes the dumbest decision and if weren’t for PDJT we would have the head of NASA (How the help did he qualify) Billy boy as Governor and this state would have been destroyed already.
Charlie is sending out crap in the mail saying trans people are the next Jackie Robinson (WTF) and every black person should be banging his door down for that.
I certainly hope the voters in Florida will re-elect Gov. DeSantis, hard to tell how angry the leftists in Florida are because their last candidate lost so might come out in droves to put Crist over the top just to prove (to themselves) they, the leftists, still have their mojo. It could be close given that Florida did open up sooner than other States so its leftist citizens have little experience of how hard it was on the rest of lock-down country.
Donald Trump – an actual diamond vs Ron DeSantis – a magic ring from a crackerjack box. No comparison, Mr. DeSantis will be lucky to win in Florida and should be grateful he had the opportunity to barely win the seat last time.
Yes, that question is the “nail in the coffin”. DeSantis will be running in the presidential primary. This is really unfortunate as Florida really needs him as Governor for a full four years, and America needs him to lead Florida as the “control group” in America. DeSantis will be chasing false hope in DC. America needs Trump in office to serve as a lightning rod long enough for each freedom-loving state to be able to reorganize toward the goal of a New America. There is no compromising with America’s authoritarians, unfortunately.
My concerns surround Florida being a key state in POTUS elections and memories of the hanging chads and in 2016 the sweat beads before the panhandle brought PDJT over the line as the Commies miscalculated their cheat. RDS has some important work to do in Florida that can impact the entire country. I hope he’s up for it. It’s a full-time job. He could’ve underscored that in his answer. Choices.
DeSantis is a good governor for Florida but I don’t wish to see him in the White House if he is working for the globalist elites. We have had too many of them already.
There’s 200 million reasons DeSantis! will run for the nomination, and lose to Trump(refer to Jeb!). I also felt the Ad Hominem attack on dispicable Crist was childish and inappropriate. Trump can get away with it, not DeSantis.
I thought the “tired old donkey” attack was not mean spirited–it was good for a light-hearted chuckle –but actually a little inappropriate and a little awkward
Ron is at his best when he is being himself…Funny, relaxed, professional, confident.
Let’s pray for him and send him some paper letters. Let’s let God work on him.
As for the question “Should DeSantis be re-elected as Florida’s governor”. The answer is absolutely yes. It is counterproductive to allow “perfect to murder the good”. Crist as governor will grossly assist Florida executive realignment with the White House.
Trust me the entire GOPe pander, Trump was authentic and didn’t do this whole..”like me because” (fill in the blank). Greg Abbott is currently running an ad with his hispanic niece calling him Tio. The only vote I’ve cast in 30 years that I was proud of was for Trump. The person running for the house seat here in my area of TX voted to shut down our entire town because of Covid, they went so far as to put boulders in front of all the parking to parks, took down basketball nets, closed fishing down, and on and on. The big fat loser then hopped a private jet to Mexico to sit on a beach. You simply cannot underestimate how entitled these GOP believe themselves to be and the whole, rules are for you not for me schtick is getting old. Retire the donkey Crist, hope DeSantis is wise enough to support Trump this go around if not…smh. Expect more of the same only different.
Notice Abbott did not show up for the Trump rally in Texas last week. His Lt. Governor and AG were there for Trump. Perhaps the air/water in Austin is turning him into a RINO! And, really, Abbott has done nothing effective to stop illegal border crossings in Texas. All talk, no action.
Just say “i might run for president, though I’m not sure at this time. So I can’t answer for sure”
simple. no one in the state will vote based on whether or no their candidate promises a full term
What always causes failed answers with long pauses as they juggle the various answers in their mind. They should know what the answer would be but they can’t say it because they fear the truth may cause them to lose the election and because they want to win the election more than they want be the governor or whatever they dither in their mind on what answer to give; the truth or a lie.
I didn’t realize DeSantis has been endorsed by so many terrible Rhinos and now this failure of being honest has sunk him for me. I was never much in doubt about voting for Trump. I believe there will be a great deal bother from the Government press and the lying progressives and it’s that that made me reluctant to vote for him but with DeSantis as the other choice given his failures of the recent 6 months we’ll just let him stay governor. He’s doing a good job there.
Yes, and the lesson any career politician will learn from Donald Trump is that his honesty cost him the 2020 election, when it never should have. A sad statement on the current condition of politics in our Country. The thing that separates TCH people from most of the country is that we only respect honesty. But we need to remember that we are a small minority of the voting public we probably will always be a small minority. Most people couldn’t give rip what politicians say or do, they just vote for the guy they think will give them the most free stuff. That is a cynical view, but it is what I guess has been going on around me for my whole life. Saying Donald Trump is more honest than anyone else doesn’t cut much ice with most American voters because they couldn’t care less.
Sundance, you saw the debate and I didn’t, but I will agree with your assessment because I believe in your commitment to honesty.
1st, PDT probably received more votes in 2020 than any Presidential candidate in history. The actual numbers can’t be known because of proven machine vote switching. 2nd, the Demented Fraud didn’t win anything. He was installed by vote fraud.
Actually, massive cheating that every single institution in this country up to and including the Supreme Court was in on is why Trump “lost” in 2020.
Good one Kitty- Nothing like the good ol AP!
If I stare long enough at this picture I start to see all the dishonesty everyone is bestowing on him (sarc)…
Being “sarc” about someone offering primary sourced Intel around what normies/independents are being told about Rons answer which is THE subject of Sundances article and this conversation?
A perplexing response.
There we have it- the biggest reason ever for why RDS must not be allowed to try and steal the nomination from our President Trump.
To me, the proper answer would be to say he ultimately does not know – but if others see that “my” good work with Florida should be extended to the entire nation, the Lt. Gov. will be fully ready to handle the state much better that Crist would.
However the Lt Governor is NOT ready unless “ready” means ready to be a Jeb anti Trumper governor of a MAGA state.
Hence Jebs fund raisers for Ron in Coral Gables?
Has President Trump endorsed DeSantis for re-election?
I thought Trump had endorsed DeSantis, but I can’t find confirmation of it.
No – according to this web site (which I always find very useful), he has not.
https://ballotpedia.org/Endorsements_by_Donald_Trump
Interestingly, Local 10 (WPLG) in Miami has a story on their website that says “Desantis likely did not answer “full term” question because Christ broke debate rules.” When you try and click on the story the link is broken. Hmmmmmm
DeSantis will win going away because he is a superb governor. As a Floridian I am a supporter. But it is beyond disappointing that he has clearly been seduced by the GOPe, who have lied to him about his strengths relative to Trump.
Agree with Sundance that the debate revealed weaknesses. DeSantis is smart, but a technocrat personality. His skeevy opponent did nothing but lie and pack the audience with hyenas to needle the Republican (typical lib dirty trick). DeSantis really didn’t bring an effective strategy for that. His performance reminded me of Dukakis, and his debate persona reminded me of Paul Ryan v Biden. He has a lot to learn about political brawling, which is essential to win a national contest.
My conclusion: if DeSantis does decide to kamikaze himself for 2024, Trump has nothing to worry about.
Ron DeSantis, Who Won’t Say If He’s Running for President, Avoided Committing to a Full Term as Governor If Reelected | Vanity Fair
I hate politicians!
As one who voted for Reagan and did not vote in any of the presidential election till Trump, I voted just not for the position of president.Having said that. The answer DeSantis gave for that question calling Crist an Old Donkey, sounds to me like a Trump answer. ” The Only Worn Out Old Donkey, I’m Looking To Put Out To Pasture is Charlie Crist”. That is a Trump answer!
To be fair, this is 2022, between now and 2024 only God knows what is going to happen. We all know how much they hate Trump and MAGA Party (both sides), we cannot be sure there will be a 2024 election? Put nothing past these filthy commie pigs in Washington.
I guess it really is all in the delivery.
Yes, PDJT would have had the natural talent to deliver that line.
And Ron does not.
While President Trump may have called someone “an old donkey”, he would NOT have done so in response to that question.
If he’d been asked that question, as Sundance pointed out, President Trump would have answered it honestly like Kari Lake did.
If he was not prepared for that question, then he is not ready for the big stage. Plus the endorsement of this Rino clown in Colorado looks to be another nail in his presidential coffin aspirations.
The fact is that DeSantis has done an excellent job as the Governor of Florida on behalf of the citizens of Florida by leading the way as a major opposition to the unconstitutional dictates and mandates of the Democrats/RINOs foisted on this country over the past several years. He stepped up to the plate and set an example for other red states to follow. However, that and his appearance of an affiliation with DJT does not automatically qualify him as the titular head of the MAGA movement and POTUS candidate replacing DJT especially when he has accepted endorsements and funding from anti-DJT/MAGA mega donors in order to further his own ambitions. It’s the expected payback that’s the issue and DeSantis is now a potential deep state tool and compromised candidate for POTUS but not as Florida’s Governor where he can have a successful second term. In closing, for those of you with the all is lost attitude and the GOP is the same as the Democrats, if by an extremely incrementally slim chance the only two people on the ballot for POTUS in 2024 were DeSantis and Biden, a vote for Biden or a third party candidate would be disastrous. Wake up. The salvation of our Constitutional Republic is at hand.
If anyone but a Trump is the Republican nominee then the Swamps coup finally succeeded. Consequently, I would vote a third partys presidential candidate.
@ 8:00 on the full vid, Crist actually says that CA. is cheaper to live in than FL. Then gives gas prices and Power Bills as an example.
What a joke.
This is how stupid Dem voters are. Move to CA. for low gas and Utility Bills, FL. Dem Voters!
For what it is worth. Before the beginning of the debate, rules were laid down by the moderator. There were to be NO QUESTIONS from one candidate to the other. Charlie Crist broke the rules and asked the question that DeSantis refused to answer. I cannot stand the RINO’s at all. That will be a debate for another day. To be a little fairer, Crist broke the rules and DeSantis stood by and watched the wreck.
I thought it was interesting that SD did not mention that point in his essay here.
Yes. That was a rule of the debate.
DeSantis could have mentioned that in his “answer”.
OMG the Swamp guy broke rules. Oh nooooooo!!!! Send a strongly worded letter of protest then go on FOX to boo hoo about the Democrats lack of decorum.
This is Rons response?
Imagine what Trump would have done. He definitely would NOT have wasted this rare opportunity.
So Ron gets a pass because Crist Broke the RULES – OMG – we are in first grade -“ Miss , Miss Moderator Lady ( with the long fake eyelashes ) that bad freaky looking tan grey man broke the rules !” No cookies for him -What wreck? . Miss eye lashes saved Ron on a technicality- you think he would acknowledge rule broken and then slam Crist with a good answer / comeback – No he pulled a Rubio ….robotic …but those who like that result good for you – That’s the Mccarthy /Old Crow school of losing that they are so good at … just saying
Stupid, Ignorant Dems in the replies are claiming that “Nobody is getting mastectomies at the age of 15”. ugh.
I read this as sundance saying he wants Gov DeSantis to say ” If Donald Trump runs, I will support him 100%”
Let me see what I can do.
His facial expression said it all…and this guy wants to be President? I don’t think so!
Thanks for the quotes of President Trumps debate answers. Priceless! And as always, exactly right! He was the happiest president ever. And, never failed to keep us happy.
I thought desantis was visibly nervous at times. shifting from one foot to the other, nervous frown, and crist was the more relaxed experienced debater. Many of desantis answers were his typical recitations of his accomplishments as governor which are admirable. however I think desantis does not listen very well. I would have prefered if he answered the questions more directly and responded to crist more directly
sundance is correct
Every Floridian should vote for Ron DeSantis, granting him the benefit of the doubt that he will be around as governor for the next four years. However, if/when DeSantis wins reelection, he would destroy his own career by announcing a 2024 run six months later.
De Santis will stab Trump in the back every chance he gets.
DeSantis is probably dumber than we thought.
I wish the entire country was reading this post.
Couple of campaign financing questions. Hoping someone can shed some light. Thanks in advance
1) Is it true that according to Florida rules DeSantis’ $200 million campaign fund for the Governor race could be rolled over into a presidential campaign fund after the state race is over? Seems that would be an incentive to throw his hat in the ring now as it would give him a significant financing advantage over those who have to raise funds under the more restrictive and dollar-limited federal rules.
2) Another question — Is it really true that post-election any remaining campaign funds becomes a former candidate’s personal money?
If so, could DeSantis in theory retire after the state race using the remains of his $200 million campaign funds as a personal retirement fund? Seems there must be some restrictions that apply to prevent or limit this?
Otherwise it seems like a great get-rich-quick scheme for lots of people to run for office even if one knows in advance one has no chance of winning. Pompeo seems intent on running a guaranteed-to-lose campaign for instance. Obviously I’m missing something here, or hope I am 🙂
He just admitted he wants to run in 2024!
