Closing arguments wrapped up on the trial of Igor Danchenko, the primary source who delivered fraudulent information to Christopher Steele for transmission to the FBI. The jury now has the case and it’s likely they will not convict.
When you accept the FBI knew the Steele Dossier was a fabricated assembly of political dirt against Trump, the trial of Danchenko becomes more about the FBI corruption than lies by the defendant. How can the same DOJ who willingly and willfully benefitted from the lies, now turn around and prosecute the liar. Hillary Clinton lawyers providing the defense for Danchenko used this angle to criticize the prosecution in closing arguments.
(Via CNN) […] Danchenko lawyer Stuart Sears said prosecutors brazenly cast aside information that “doesn’t support their narrative that he’s a liar.” Sears pointed out how Durham turned on his own witnesses after they provided evidence that helped the defense.
“The special counsel attacked them mercilessly,” Sears said. “They attacked the credibility of the very witnesses they called in here, because they didn’t say what they wanted them to say.” Sears added: “The government’s own evidence in this case proves that the defendant is not guilty.”
Durham’s team urged jurors to convict Danchenko on Monday, telling them to “look at his own words” in emails from 2016 that they believe prove that he later misled the FBI about his ties to a possible dossier source. “You didn’t check your common sense at the courthouse door,” prosecutor Michael Keilty said. “You need to use it.”
Keilty said Danchenko gave a “shifting story” to the FBI agents who interviewed him in 2017, while they were trying to corroborate the explosive allegations in the dossier that Trump’s campaign was colluding with the Russian government to win the presidency.
“The FBI surveilled a US citizen for nearly a year based on those lies,” Keilty said, referring to the wiretaps of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The FBI affidavits used to secure those surveillance warrants included material that came from the Trump-Russia dossier.
Danchenko’s lawyer also blasted the Trump-era Justice Department for “exposing” him as an FBI informant and for launching the probe that led to his prosecution.
“He was trying to help the FBI, and now they’re indicting him for it,” Sears said.
As a paid informant, Danchenko significantly assisted multiple FBI probes between 2017 and 2020. But the FBI was forced to cut ties with Danchenko in late 2020, after the Justice Department indirectly outed him as a dossier source.
“He deserved more than to be exposed because a bunch of politicians put politics over national security,” Sears said. (read more)
There will no “Durham Report”. Prosecutors do their talking in the courtroom. It is unethical for a prosecutor to decline to prosecute someone and then turn around and condemn them in a “report”.

You can’t “lie to the FBI” if they know who you are, know you’re lying, and knowingly use your lies to advance a fraudulent investigation.
The defense lawyers are right, and they know Durham can’t prosecute any of the coup plotters inside the Government, and so they are exploiting the fact that Durham knows Danchenko did not “lie to the FBI.”
This is sort of the inverse of the Mueller scam. The Mueller scam produced sham “convictions” to make Trump look guilty. Durham is producing sham prosecutions to deliver acquittals in order to discredit the idea that the Russiagate investigation was a hoax.
Like Sussman, there’s a good chance Danchenko gets acquitted unless there are jurors who really understand the full picture. A Danchenko acquittal lets Durham say “Well, I tried” and he never has to battle the DOJ (a sure loser) to go after the traitors who conspired to overthrow Pres. Trump.
The DOJ can count on the media to never ask the obvious question: if Danchenko didn’t lie, who at the FBI knew and fabricated a criminal case based on Danchenko feeding them bogus information?

What exactly did Durham cover up?
Although Durham has exposed some new information, such as the $1M FBI offer to Steele, his prosecutions in DC and Virginia courts result in acquittals, of people, like Sussman, who committed crimes. Their acquittal basically allows all Spygate criminals off the hook.
The DC Federal court, (and probably the Virginia court,) is corrupt and will find most Republicans and Trump supporters guilty and most Democrat operatives innocent no matter what the evidence shows. Maybe Durham tried but could not get these cases tried in other Federal courts in other more “neutral” states.
Whether Durham wanted to go after Government people, like some of the FBI agents, I don’t know. Maybe AG Garland prevented him for prosecuting these people. Durham did not go after anyone in the FBI or DOJ that did some very egregious deeds in the Spygate affair. Maybe this could be considered a coverup of sorts.
The net result is that it makes the whole Spygate affair look legitimate, from the legal perspective.

If / when Trump gets back in office, he will cut as many heads as he needs to clean house. His second term will not be a repeat of the first; particularly in terms of appointments and staffing. Somewhere I heard that a President needs to pick roughly 4,000 people to fill out the various positions in an administration. He will have 10 X as many as he needs and they will all be loyal and looking for revenge. I suspect that many of these smug Uniparty types who had such a jolly time shafting Trump the first time around will be hiding under a rock somewhere or have left the country.
If Trump was to again be president he would do nothing differently.

Like I said before, the verdict(s) in the Durham prosecution(s) are for all intent and purposes irrelevant. What the goal was is to set up the narrative and instill in the minds of the American people who at this point now know with hard evidence and facts presented in court that Hillary paid for the dossier, that Crossfire Hurricane was a made up conspiracy to frame President Trump and spy on his campaign and then in the Oval. That the FBI is wholly corrupt and was even willing to pay $1M of our tax money to have the lies corroborated and when no one took the bait, they put it forth anyway. And more. Once the people en masse know this for sure as they now do, they will back any future prosecutions that will come down the pike and any action that President Trump will take once he’s back in. Danchenko found not guilty on four charges.
Durham is not even close to being done with his charge.
Durham can not leave FBI agents who publicly -due to his trial- have been shown to be culpable in breaking the law and treason to taking down a sitting president with perjury….. He must prosecute.
