There is no precedent for the legislative branch to subpoena a former President of the United States, the executive branch. No court, including the Supreme Court, would validate a congressional subpoena against the President. The separation of powers would not permit the enforcement mechanism and there is no constitutional authority within the legislative branch to compel the executive. Period.
As a result, the effort of the J6 committee is essentially a made for television performance intended to create some goofy October surprise in advance of the November midterm election. The transparency of the insufferable political nonsense is clear. President Trump responded via Truth Social:

The committee will likely create some ridiculous multi hundred-page report, created under the auspices of some authority they have manufactured out of thin air. The entire enterprise has been a massive waste of taxpayer funds as the baseline for the committee itself is nothing more than a partisan election effort.

There are so many really crucial matters affecting the every day lives of American citizens that have received no attention since Jan 2020 but this committee have wasted so much time and resources playing political games. The woman in red is Rep Elaine Luria, Virgina Beach VA. She is a retired Navy Commander. I went to a debate this Wednesday between Luria and her Republican opponent, State Senator Jen Kiggins, also a retired Navy helicopter pilot. Luria is normally very measured in her answers to questions from the press or in this case, in a debate. Even when you don’t agree with a lot of her positions since she votes with Pelosi about 95% of the time, she never comes across as a lunatic…..until this Wednesday.
When a question came up about being on the J6 committee, a switch went off in her head and she turned into a screaming Banshee. Never seen anything like it coming from her. It struck a nerve and she was yelling at her opponent, the moderator and the entire audience about how this is the most important thing she has ever done including her career as a Commander of a Navy aircraft carrier. No normal, calm person yells that loud unless they know how wrong it is the position they have taken, and that it is going to cost her dearly. I pray she goes down in flames and the 2nd District of Virginia is returned to Republican control.

But what is missing (I do not know to be clear), is what powers congress gave this commission.. I would assume the committee would have been granted subpoena powers. I noted how Steve Bannon operated in this political inquest. But refusal. He is likely to spend some time in jail and a fine. But there are some differences. Steve Bannon was not POTUS. This POTUS status, former even, holds great substance to the issue of constitutional separation of powers,executive priviledge. We are already seeing this play out in the MAL ransacking case. I think it goes to scotus ultimately, even as some parts of it have already been ruled by scotus. But the big issue, the big enchilada, is this:
executive privilege primacy condundrum: can a present POTUS exercise the same executive privilege and does supercede and also be primary over a former POTUS? Who wins?
because it is very obvious that DOJ being a quasi-justice and executive branch of the biden regime is asserting executive powers. This naturally goes to biden as he and he alone has executive powers of priviledge. He must ALLOW AND ORDER the DOJ to act against the former President. DOJ cannot simply assume that power. The SCOTUS in 2020 gave no standing, refusals to hear and negative verdicts associated with cases related to the election law violations …. despite all the evidence presented and State legislatures correctly claiming their constitutional authority was violated.

We have a SCOTUS that sanctioned the FISA Courts 2015-2020.

First, in Nancy Pelosi’s own words, this is NOT a Committee but is called a COMMISSION because its composition, charter and actions are not sanctioned per House Rules nor by the Senate. As if it matters, the COMMISSION has none of the powers a properly constituted CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE. Thus the power to subpoena does not attach to this COMMISSION. Even Attorney Alan Dershowitz caught on and refers to this body as a COMMISSION.
You likely have a point for post 1990-2000 committees but there are far more committees and sub-committees that exist beyond those cited in the news that actually used to do the valuable work of preparing legislation, a role now FULLY assumed by lobbying organizations.

Does anyone else find it “ODDLY” convenient that there were cameras right up in the face of Pelosi/Schumer pretending to act concerned/terrified during the “fake” insurrection. This whole thing couldn’t be staged/pre-planned right???????? lmfao
I was at the gym on 1/6 and was watching the media Coverage across ALL the major news broadcasting networks, shown simultaneously on the many screens at the gym.
The script across all the news shows was nearly identical as was the panic by news spinning heads that there was NO violence or angry rabble rousers on the screen for nearly 2 hours of broadcast that aligned with the script and banners of UNREST and PROTEST in the Capital.
Then suddenly the narrative and live TV Video aligned:
The flash bangs
The tear gas
A folks suddenly moving up the steps to “break into” the capital (at the time no mention that doors were opened at the time)
The media idiots even broadcast peaceful crowds being conducted through the capital by police, as if on a tour.
Then shots fired.
Even the TV networks were in on the fake.
A TV Producer was coordinating the effort.

I know I might get blasted for this view, but honestly, some women should never be in charge of certain things (Lizzard – this means you). Their judgement is often clouded by intense emotion that they allow to get in the way of making good decisions. I don’t mean all women, and not all situations. This January 6th kangaroo court is one such thing that is a yuge waste of taxpayers money and is a monumental display of mental masturbation. It’s a lot of $$ spent on garbage that is supposed to make the left “feel good” but does essentially nothing.
Meanwhile, there is so many other issues like for example the porous border (Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?) going on that needs desperate attention and would benefit the WHOLE country yet is totally ignored. And yet, she and the others on this committee are so blinded by their Trump Derangement Syndrome that they continue with this performance.
You won’t be blasted by me. There are too many women in positions of power, mayors, police chiefs, etc. WHERE ARE THE MEN? I know the answer – “diversity” above qualifications. Men from the 40’s and 50’s, even the 60’s must be horrified at all the women leading the men – I am. Of course, there is the occasional fully-qualified female but putting women in power over mostly male subordinates (military, police, firefighters) is degrading to men. And maybe that’s why they are doing it.
