I just received the following message from Sundance…
“Camped on Pine Island. No electricity, water, or internet, and limited cell service. Hopefully, I’ll be able to provide an update tomorrow.”
The following photo and video show the utter devastation that occurred on Pine Island. The only bridge to the island was heavily damaged, so earlier it could only be reached by boat or air. Out of respect for those who may be involved, I’ll let Sundance describe what he’s seen take place throughout this past day….in his own words. They decided to take a pass on the last boat out. 🙁
I do, however, take great comfort in knowing that a caring God is watching over him and his team.
🙏
Wow. Those people were packed in like sardines. ‘Specially those trailer parks. When you’re that close you can hear your neighbor’s TV and conversations. Lived like that in my youth. Could never do it now, even in a place with nice weather all year long.
But home is home, and I hope everyone gets back to theirs very soon.
Godspeed Sundance!
How cool would it be to be on Sundance’s team?!
I know that’s hard miserable work, but dang, other than one’s own losses, I kinda envy them, miss being in the middle of things, especially miss being able to be in the middle of things . . .
I thought the road had been repaired to Pine Island in an unbelievable 3 days? Repaired so quickly, Biden could not take any credit, all he could do was blame Florida for the hurricane or denying climate change
Well, all that hard work Sundance and his team have been doing will ensure they sleep well tonight.
His texts said he was part of a “search and rescue”, so perhaps his team was required to go by boat only…? I heard the bridge had opened today as well, so I rephrased my sentence. I’m sure SD will add clarity to everything in the morning. 😉
Thanks for the update on SD. Been wondering…
sundance and others like him are an impressive example of those Americans that strive to retain, rebuild and improve America rather than the many recent news clips of those losers that wish to tear it down or harm it.
Thanks Ad rem!
There probably are not roads clear enough to drive a vehicle, if it is still running as well.
It has been replaced, SD posted yesterday on that about the locals getting this done.
🙏
Thanks for the update!
We pray, Lord Jesus, for a quick recovery from the devastation. Bless us and heal us as only you can do. Amen
Amen
Sundance: More than your supernumerous words, your love-in-action speaks very well of the abiding love that moves you. While good works don’t save you, your selfless giving demonstrates that you’re redeemed!
Praying—and thankful—for you Sir.
With the American Flag flying on their trucks. That is awesome.
That was really cool, live….watched on the TV.
Check out those flags, baby….They worked hard on the cameras to cut out the crowds cheering.
OMGoodness. Yes! Amazing. God bless America.

Sundance is an awesome human and a great writer, but even more wonderful is the fact that his neighbors are more important to him than The Conservative Treehouse is. We need millions more like him. No wonder he’s not in Washington.

soon it’ll be day 588 of recovery
Being in vicinity to Sundance, but blessed to be on high ground, I am very grateful to all who are helping.
I’m a seasoned citizen with joint issues, but I was able to do some brush clearing and other minor things. All the stronger bodies, like Sundance, are so appreciated.
The National Guard, religious assistance from the North Carolina Baptists to Samaritan’s Purse to Chabad, and other groups are here working hard.
On Sunday it appeared that the local churches were in shock, but most will have rolled up their sleeves and begun to help.
I’m concerned that the large senior population here will suffer severe mental distress. Most, sad to say, are focused on fun and drinking.
In my community only a tiny fraction attend church, and they block out thinking about their own mortality. It will be interesting to see if that changes now.
“they block thinking about their own mortality” That line puts the song ” Gods gonna cut you down”in my mind. ” you can run on for a long time , run on for a long time, run on for a long time. Sooner or later , God ‘ll cut you down.”
Wow, what insight you have!
Praying.
Godspeed Sundance.
I don’t know if y’all saw SD’s post about getting his roof repaired. Jesus did it… Seriously.. a guy named Jesus showed up and made more permanent repairs than the cobbled plywood and whatever that SD threw up there. I am still in awe.. just unbelievable..
Aha! I see The Lord just winked at you!
Good to see ya! ♥️ Hope all is well.
Sundance said God is full of love…and has a great sense of humor. Of course he does. What kind of Creator with no sense of humor would ever have created the platypus?
That He had a fellow named Jesus come along and help get Sundance’s roof put back together is just more hilarious proof of God’s sense of humor.
Breitbart is reporting that Gov. DeSantis declared yesterday that a temporary bridge/road has been constructed to Pine island. They included a picture.
Is this not true?
WOW!
Yes, it is true.
My friend has sent videos of her home in St James City, Pine Island, she is still there..I thought the bridge opened yesterday..I didn’t realize the island was so populated.
Probably not open to all traffic.
Big prayers for all.
Just thinking about what Sundance and his team are doing. Really thinking. They are seeing things we can’t imagine. As the mom of a first responder, I know some of the things son #2 has seen and handled. Not all because he has to compartmentalize much so he can continue to function. My hat is off to the people who do this work. My prayers are with them. God bless you all Sundance!
Well put!
Yikes…Just heard on WINK news that if a FEMA claim (0% money) involves a SECONDARY HOME/RESIDENCE in the Hurricane Zone the claim will be denied by the feds.
The individual will then need to apply for a SBA or other loan *they said 1% or so*. I’m not sure what kind of DeSantis money is available because WINK news is a leftist organization and they don’t do much positive DeSantis info. (they were absolutely drooling at #TrafficJamForTwoHoursJoe coming in here the other day). Everyone else was #GoBackHomeJoe.
Because the snowbirds and potential retirees are throwing an absolute fit this morning, I’m suspecting DeSantis will come up with something.
That’s going to affect a LOT of homes on the barrier islands because they are snowbird places in many instances. Especially Sanibel.
Again, I’m not sure of the wisdom of buying property (and, they are buying property, not the structure for the money) in a flood/hurricane zone and leaving it unoccupied during our summer Mean Season(TM) down here. When I say “wisdom” I’m being exceptionally nice.
Things are getting back to normal for most people outside ground zero and the eye wall path…The ones I’m running into are basically…saying “meh.”
A few days ago, my local news (WKMG, I think) did a report telling people to do minor repairs themselves and wait to make a claim with their insurance company. They were telling people they have up to two years to make a claim. I guess the reasoning is not to overwhelm the insurance companies? I think some will be wondering if their insurance company is even in business up to two years from now.
To Sundance and Team at Pine Island,
Been reading CTH for 8 years, I’m in Lee County (North Fort Myers) and we just got power back yesterday afternoon. Most of our yard and other debris has been cleaned up, so I was thinking of heading out to Pine Island and help out somewhere (I love that place).
I just saw on the news this morning that anybody can get on Pine Island (no more check points), it would be nice to have some guidance or a specific area to go to…instead of driving around ‘willy-nilly’ looking to offer help.
I have 3 jugs of gas ready to go (can fill 2 more) and bring water…if Sundance and team would like some help or just gas/water drop off, please let me know.
You can send a message to my email account or respond to this comment, I will check both very often. I will be happy to provide my cell number as well.
Thank you,
Hedsmun
p.s. – I might be able to bring/loan a generator too.
I wanted to add something to my post (but couldn’t see the ‘edit’ gear anymore), as I realized there are many Treepers on Pine Island.
My offer extends to those treepers and other folks on Pine Island if they are able to see this or somehow get the message. Please respond to this message or send me an email, [email protected] or [email protected].
I have an uncle ,uncle Junior who was a volunteer assistant fire chief in N.J., is also a experienced backhoe operator and carpenter. By no way a man of wealth. Because he retired early to care for his dying wife.
Shortly after my aunt died there was there was a tornado close to his home. The day it hit he packed his tools and drove to the area at his own expense to assist. He was 62 years old. Since then for the next 22 years he has done so .
I am very proud of him. His reward ,Today at 89 ,is that he is relatively active and a very happy person.
I believe God has blessed Uncle Junior as well as those who know him..
I see that Sundance has something in common with my uncle. The ultimate friend in deed.
I pray for both of these soul mates and hope that God Blesses Sundance and his family as He did with us with a happy and healthy life well into his 80’ and beyond.
I really like people who have a put up or shut up mentality. It looks like Sundance wears that hat. He is obviously a real good person to know. I also believe God has been guiding him for a long time. I hope he will come back, when the work permits it, and start talking again.
“gave proof through the night …”
Sundance may God continue to protect and provide for you, your family, your friends and neighbors. You are all in my prayers.
Prayers, love and hugs … we live on Clearwater Beach. There are no words other than thanking God. Survivors… prayers, hugs, love to you and those who lost their lives and for patience, love, strength to re-building. … just sad, but knowing God will all the strength to re-build.
Continual prayers for Sundance and the entire Search and Rescue team.
Thank you Adrem for the updates.
I was on Pine Island today, doing my usual job as a volunteer at the island’s animal sanctuary. The massive teamwork, compassion, and outreach by island residents & caring others is truly inspiring. I felt honored to see such love in action.
I know this is a long haul. Sounds like SD is going to need a vacation. Hope he’s getting some good donations to help him and others rebuild. Praying for him, his mind, his stamina, his physical wellness and his safety.
