You know that moment just before the tsunami hits, when the water is pulled out to sea? Yeah, that.
Media are starting to realize what a destabilizing force ‘food insecurity’ can become as the pre-existing high prices are about to go even higher.
(WASHINGTON, Via The Hill) – […] the five items that have seen the largest year-over-year price increase based on the latest report from the Labor Department, and how much the price has changed: Eggs 39.8%, Margarine: 38.3%, Butter: 24.6%, Flour/prepared flour mixes: 23.3%, Olives, pickles, relish: 19.4%
Many of the items listed in the Consumer Price Index have seen prices rise by more than 15% compared to August 2021. That includes chicken (16.6%), soups (18.5%), cereals (17.4%), and milk (17%).
[…] Worsening food inflation is a particular strain on lower-income families, more of whom have had to turn to food banks and other aid as inflation has worsened. Mary Jane Crouch, executive director of America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, which works with a network of food banks, told the Associated Press 38% more food was distributed in August compared with July.
Sales at grocery stores rose 0.5% in August, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. Overall spending has slowed and shifted increasingly toward necessities like food, while spending on electronics, furniture, new clothes and other non-necessities has faded. (read more)
The energy driven inflation in seed, fertilizer, diesel fuel, solvents and industrial surfactants is about to travel from the field into the food supply chain with the fall harvest commencing. Wave 3 food price increases are likely to be higher than the prior two waves combined.
Overlay that pricing issue with global shortages and what do you get?….
Fortunately, I am optimistic that most readers here are well prepared.
I am afraid that we have seen nothing yet. This winter the Europeans freeze, the world starves, food prices in the U.S. goes through the roof, and with all our visitors from South America making their presence known we will have riots and crime this country has never experienced before. All while the democrats and deep state focus on Trump. This is clown world on steroids. Well at least Biden has Ashley and hunter to keep him warm at night and all the coke the whole family needs. Maybe Fetterman can join the sleep over.
Dont you ever wonder when We, the American people will say ENOUGH, and stop this sh???
We are ready. The question not answered is:
How on God’s green earth and brown in Texas in the summer, do we institute immediate, long lasting change?
School boards are a start..
Let me remind everyone how Lightfoot sent her problem to a wealthy suburb. Libs seem to forget that one.
The school boards, while an admirable effort, was a waste of energy.
The new MAGA School boards will be confronted with Federal funding requirements, curriculum requirements, etc.
We HAD 60+ years of “failing schools” even before the recent trans, crt b.s.
They TRIED No (ALL) Child left behind, the mainstream Republicon “answer” followed by Race to the Top (BOTTOM) the Dem “answer”.
The MAGA base answer has been ‘out there’ for 30+ years; VOUCHERS.
First proposed 30 years ago, only this year has the First State (Az.) adopted a Statewide School voucher program.
If your an Az voter, vote for Safir for Supt of Public Schools, a MAGA candidate we will need, to fight to implement this law.
If it goes well, it can be a model for the National program PDJT has already said he wants to implement.
In other words: there is no immediate change. No quick solution. This will take decades probably.
Kind of like when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
Not good. But doing nothing is worse.
The invasion began in 1965. We lost our chance to stop it when Trump was thwarted in securing the border for over two years by lawsuits and intransigence.
True. But, we can and will send them back over the border with state laws making employing an illegal a crime. The corporates are the enemy on this one.
You forgot “Common Core”. … whereby our students are brainwashed and dumbed-down … below all previous standards
It was partially lost when Pres Reagan signed off on a bad faith deal with the Dems.
Maybe. Publicly funded vouchers inevitably lead down the same road: government control. Basically this battle boils down to public school system Teachers Unions versus the taxpayer. There is no drawing distinctions here (from say the state or national level) – the same rule applies, to wit, fight the power.
Homeschooling is also an option.
She sent a lot of trash up to Waukegan too.
Another fundamental transformation.
Living up to the namesake of “Beetlejuice”.
Kinda looks like “Buckwheat” of the Little Rascals fame!
She’s well on her way to Admiral Ackbar territory
Groot
It’s a trap!
Kept looking at her and could not figure out who she/it reminded me of.
Is that actually the same person? For real 100%?

Thank you for posting her pic. I live in Illinois and every person (except 1) I’ve shown it too has never seen it!
Okay, seriously what happened to her? Tuskyou, since you live in Illinois maybe you can w
enlighten us. Geez, that’s hard to believe that’s her. Only pictures before and after that I’ve seen look like that are people on meth.
Put her tongue in a light bulb socket? My guess!
Her wife’s light socket?
My guess is addiction of some sort.
My thoughts exactly. Beetlejuice looks like a methhead and she acts like one too. If it looks like a methhead and acts like a methhead, it’s a methhead.
That makes sense, or the before pictures used a ton of face paint and wigs.
WTHell happened to her? Is that really her? Are you kidding? Come on man! 😳😳
I refuse to believe this is real.
https://latestnews.fresherslive.com/articles/lori-lightfoot-before-and-after-pictures-who-is-lori-lightfoot-wife-salary-and-how-tall-is-lori-lightfoot-338065
Holy shit is that the same broad? Am I missing something? WTH gotta be fake. Oh I know the pic on the right is correct. Did she really look like that?
Sorry that is disturbing on so many levels.
Pixels and Paint, make ’em out to be what they ain’t.
Emphasis on fundament.
Oh my! Makeup and hair really do work. Wonder if she or her girlfriend ever miss the old her?
Trans?
It’s too late for that. 50 million invaders that will never be removed, and counting. We don’t have a Charles Martel to do what needs doing. That would be “uncivilized” after all.
You’ve lost your country. Math is math.
They will leave on their own, if there are no jobs.
Evangelizing. Help people turn back to God. One thing I’m doing is I have a bumper sticker that says “Jesus loves you!” And it has the frequencies of 2 Christian radio stations on it. Also, pass out tracts, and “entertain strangers” like God told us in the Bible.
He can love you in your own country. Get out.
After how Americans responded to the scamdemic, not anymore.
Just how do you think action driven by “ENOUGH” plays out? Do ya think people will line up in their blue
coats in a long line & march on Washington? Does it mean running out into the street with your pistol shooting
up the street lamps?
What action, exactly, is warranted?
And if it’s violence that is needed, will you lead the charge?
If he does will you follow?
No. The”Charge of the Light Brigade” days are over.
Should it come to violence, it will probably be some type of guerrilla warfare.
God forbid I wind up with a terminal illness. I may go secure that border myself.
It seems to happen like a flock of birds changing direction all at once, or school of fish turning. No one plans it, and all at once the shooting just starts. In California in the 1850’S. and 1880’s. In the Mid-West States in the 1920’s and 1930’s. They killed off lots of people in a few days to a week. Then it was over. Nobody spoke about it. Really strange, it is like people reach a breaking point and snap.
On the up side:
Fried immigrants taste way better than bugs.
Food for thought, so to speak.
Fetterman’s neck tumor disqualifies him from the communal bed …
Does getting in bed with Fetterman qualify as a Menage-a-trios?
Now all the imports across the Southern Border make sense. It was evident early on given the huge swells of people. In lean times homogeneous peoples stand a better chance at working together. Different cultures stand a much better chance at colliding.
Listen it’s too late. Many of those immigrants are connected to the land. When it makes sense based on location you should try and reach out to them. They have lived a harder life then most of us. Use it as a positive if possible. It is your duty to educate them. Many are distrustful of government.
Many are gang members from very young ages. There is no rehabilitating that.
FITHY LIBERALS. We will see HUNGRY and Depraved Muslim Africa marching to Europistan by the millions. Spoiler alert- Europe = Future $hithole. Europe, except Hungary, deserve ALL of the wonderful jihad (I mean “Diversity” coming to their neighbourhoods….So do we. We allow it. And by default, encourage it. FJB
Add Poland, Czechia and Slovakia to the list.
And now Denmark!
The CCP is already claiming Africa.
I’ve only seen a few signs here in PA for any candidate. It’s early yet.
It will be interesting to see if some of the Anti-Trump people put up Fetterman signs.
If they do, it will show how lost they are.
If they don’t it will at least give a small indication that some don’t want to be associated with him.
They focus on Trump because many of them could go to jail for what they did (and are doing)!!
We live in very rural North-central Minnesota, in a solidly red county, surrounded by neighbors that also grow their own food. Just a short list of things that I am thankful to the good Lord for.
Ditto. Small town in north central MN. Friends network of farmers, builders, hunters and medical. Never been more grateful to live in this area.
Sounds like Hmong country …
Too bad. The liberals will be descending on you to take your food and livestock and there is nothing you can do to stop them. The military will be helping them.
suck up and bust troll
My husband says we live in a food island.
We live in northeast Minnesota, in the arrowhead.
Never realized before moving here 7 years ago how totally depraved and socialist this area is. The people here are truly sick. Sick. Really sick.
Maybe we need to move further west. I’d love to live in a red county in Minnesota.
For now I continue to wear my Lets Go Brandon sweatshirt out among the sickos, hoping to bring more conservatives out of the closet in this area.
We have often thought of returning to Minnesota but the liberal government there and the extreme cold with the heating bills that go along with that are so far not making that an easy decision.
Sadly, there will be those that continue merrily on their way expecting to keep living the way they have since even before the pandemic, putting those lattes and that must have vacation on credit cards. As the squeeze begins to infringe on the expected “soft” lifestyle, there will be many expecting to be rescued. I have denied myself indulgences in order to be better able to weather the storm.
not just “sadly”, but dangerously–because of what they will do when they finally understand what’s happening. They’ll be coming for you and me, if they can find us.
Yep! Last year we sold off our Vegas home and moved back to the country on a very rural 5 acres near the ocean for fish and crab with deer and elk in our woods. Long ways to a small town. 🙂
Where!? Where!? … I want the 15 acres next to you
Much more rustic lifestyle, with a lot of work but happy to no longer have a mortgage.
Its pretty obvious how, as a society, we exchanged liberty for the illusion of security.
Not so obvious is how much liberty has been traded away for the ILLUSION of economic security, and the ILLUSION of, ….CONVENIENCE.
It is music to the “Bad Guys” ears. All these people accepting how little they can be instead of how great they can be. Trumps MAGA is out of date already and Bidens, “Do less with less” now the mantra.
I see it more as going Galt.
“Trump’s” MAGA is more needed and more current than it ever was in 2020.
Out of date? I think not.
To the Media, the infiltrators in our government who were in place throughout Trump’s 1st term and still are, and their sycophant civilian zombie leftist voting army, what you say is true. However to his base, which is expanding despite the manufactured current division no matter how many try and say otherwise, it’s a call to action as more and more wake up.
How will that action turn out? I’m not sure.
Right now there are many who have gotten far more active in local politics; disseminating information to fight the lies and obfuscation of the left; networking, assisting, and becoming familiar with others in their communities.
Where I live in semi-rural NH the primaries were successful on knocking out quite a few GOPe incumbents and candidates. The left and RINOs are shrinking in our government and I feel many more will be defeated in November.
We have never “defunded” police, who are far more responsive to, and accepted by their local communities than departments in the blue states and cities who seem like they are joining up with the left’s drive towards a national police force. (Obama’s army) We are and have been one of the top 3 safest states for years. Legal open and concealed constitutional carry helps make for good and respectful neighbors.
“Trump’s MAGA” is our MAGA. MAGA-A! MAGA is all of us whether or not we buy into it, it’s here. The more the leftists attempt to crack down as tyrannical dictators; The more they attempt to deny us our rights and ability to survive and thrive; The more they pollute values, morality and families; The more they divide, incite and agitate; The more people are realizing that they support MAGA.
So, you can continue to believe that MAGA is out of date. But if you continue down that route you’ll be left behind with the others that didn’t try to stop the spreading communism and bought into the globalist doing less with less BS. We are winning, not losing. Stop believing the media’s lies.
Wherever this leads, stop assisting with the division. Be on the winning side as that side Makes America Great Again, again!
What’s that?
Do you have the actual deed to your house?
That may be one way “they” take seniors property away from them.
If everything goes black, online property records will go into a black-hole, too. If you don’t have a hard copy of your deed, if we don’t have a hard copy of our deed, we all may be fighting a much bigger battle.
Yes we do have a hard copy of our deed. Don’t trust an emp will never happen or some weird glitch. Very good point.
Congratulations.
But we still have taxes to pay.
You are right Sharon. It will be a challenge to continue to walk in faith, not fear.
Agreed.
The “normalcy bias” will soon bite many sheeple bigtime, including some in my own family. I pray more than usual lately.
Same here, sad to watch. We can see what is coming and you wonder why they are so blind to it and refuse to hear your words.
Same, and I’m not gonna help any family member who can’t admit they brought this on. I’m prepared and have been suggesting they do the same.
Can’t help but think of the lifeboat drill since only so many can fit into the boat without being swamped.
Noah warned everyone, too.
Much bigger “lifeboat,” and a much greater threat. Still, no one listened.
Totally agree.
Parents created the evil, and parents have to stop the evil.
Children raised with crutches never walk.
I am with you on that! We have two young grandkids that we will feed, clothe, provide shelter for and keep warm but as for the rest of our family members they are all on their own.
Having zero debt of any kind never felt better.
Oh yeah and worth all the work and effort to make it happen.
I never saw my debt freedom as due to hard work and effort. I just lived within my means, and never wanted to keep up with the Jones’s.
The insight to me was the dawning realisation that, in the transition to pay as I go, our quality of life IMPROVED, we did not “sacrifice” anything, quite the opposite.
And the peace of mind,…..?
PRICELESS!
No debt here either. Property taxes are another way to get at you.
True, but I always set that aside above all other things. I taught myself that if you don’t own it, you don’t own it. And, you can only ever sit in one chair.
Silver
I probably need to move on getting my garage door further reinforced. I already use internal padlocks and metal security/screen door on the other side of the garage into the yard, but the material of the door itself isn’t worth much. A sledge hammer would open it up.
I do have a dog with a really big bark, so there’s that.
Ultimately, none of us will be able to be prepared for every possible scenario.
The hurricane is moving swiftly into horizon view, huh?
It’s all good. (…..and that is the really high altitude view….and not a flippant comment; that is exactly what my late husband said about 20 seconds after he and I were carefully informed, in late 2013, that the liver cancer was widespread, untreatable, terminal….he set an amazing example for me 24/7 during the last four months of his life.. and that has become a new, precious, and very deliberately/occasionally used phrase in our near family: It’s all good.)
Todd Beamer said it another way as the situation came into focus and they had prepared as well as they possibly could, “Let’s roll.”
Such things, articulated at such times, are not emotion or hyperbole: they are that redhead looking out to sea and saying somewhere in her knowing heart, “Well, all righty then….suck it up, buttercup” or words to that effect.
Well put. God bless you, your late husband and Todd.
“….he set an amazing example for me 24/7 during the last four months of his life.. and that has become a new, precious, and very deliberately/occasionally used phrase in our near family: It’s all good.)
I’m sorry you lost your husband.
I’m deeply impressed that he set such an example for his last four months.
Clearly, he accomplished what he set out to do.
He must have been a good man, and you are clearly a good woman to recognize and appreciate his efforts.
Much respect from me to you……and him.
Condolences, may God wrap you in His care.
I am well wrapped, indeed.
My condolences. I had a man like that. A proud Viet Nam vet. Farmer and my soul mate .never questioned the the war. Just went where his country sent him.
Your husband and Todd Beamer were Vikings. Dying well is an art.
A few days after 9-11 we found a tag with ..let’s roll in a service station. Stayed on the front of our truck until it rusted away. (Tag, not truck) Wish I’d bought more than one. Never saw another one since. I heard Todd’s mother had the phrase copyrighted.
Somehow you drew from my comments that I claimed I would be “safe” (whatever that means). I make no such assumptions . I’ve done what I can to remain safe, knowing there are always circumstances in which it will not be enough. (Oh, well.)
Safety is not my primary goal. My primary goal is living in the moment in my right mind, and being of any assistance I can to those I love, close around me. Some days I do that better than others. (Oh, well)
What is your primary goal, self-described Savageone? I would never describe myself as savage–good grief……why do you describe yourself that way?
Proverbs 3 tells me not to be wise in my own eyes and I have found that to be very practical counsel.
suck up and bust, troll
Not so sure about that. Many rural areas are planning for any invasion of their property. It would take a full company of military personnel to overcome the resistance of a group of organized neighbors. While that might happen at some point, a house by house fight out in the rural areas would likely change the “planner’s” plans. Neighbors within a 10 mile radius out in our area meet and plan for many types of events.
Got two of your antifa rump-wrangling buddies to give you a ‘thumbs up’, I see.
I’ll bet you enjoyed it too!
‘What do you get?”
A storm of unprecedented proportions.
Many on this site have stockpiled as much as they can afford. I think it is imperative they we stock up more than we think we could possibly need. Whatever we don’t use during this hard time can be shared with others who are in need. In fact, buying additional food for those we might not expect or for those we know who might not have stockpiled enough, is a good thing.
What we might see in the next two years is starving and freezing people who are bereft of homes and work; possibly leading to civil unrest beyond our comprehension.
One way we can help is to connect locally with like-minded families and keep in mind those who may need assistance. We must maintain a civil structure, and supporting our local neighbors, block, neighborhood, village, township is one way to combat this storm.
May God guide us through this storm.
Amen
Need one? Buy at least two, if you can afford it. We are all going to have to become our brothers and sisters keepers. The Lord is with US. Who can be against US? Good luck to you and yours.
We have prepared as much as we can & are still in the process. We have more to go. We do a little each week while we can.
Agree-may the Lord get us through ❤️
Given the recent exposures of what the medical system REALLY is, rather than what we wanted to believe, after stocking up as much as you can on food, give serious thought to medical issues, including pretty much divorcing the abusive medical system, including health insurance, entirely.
Even if you don’t feel you can go that far, the more prepared you are for treating at home, the better.
Its a major task, which just means you need to get started, now.
I have sutures, casting plaster, bandaging supplies, many standard medications, etc ‘stockpiled’ as well as knowledge of how to use them, and a thorough understanding of me and mines health.
Oh. Now I see a little better how your mind works. Perhaps you are one of those C. S. Lewis wrote about–the bent ones—
suck up and bust, troll
Excellent advice on medical supplies, Dutchman.
I f you get passed the motion sensors and the dogs you’ll encounter a well armed experienced combat veteran. Stop by anytime.
I have stockpiled enough for my two daughters and their families.
Additionally, I got each family a LifeStraw system; the one for
families.
Berkey filters are great water filters a well.
The only problem with sharing is that person who you shared with now knows you have food and may come back to kill you for it. Sad but true. My Priest from Ukraine told me that during famines people were afraid to check on their neighbors because they were afraid that if people saw them they might kill them to eat them. How horrific!!
Not necessarily. I read a description by someone who went through the collapse of the Soviet Union. They did exchanges in small (tiny one shot of vodka) amounts in neutral settings like farmers markets. They did not bring the people they helped home. He would use one path into the market and took a different path home making sure he was not followed.
I listened to a youtuber that suggested you stay home a couple of weeks. You do not want to be driving, if there are no other cars on the road. Ditto walking/biking your neighborhood. You do not want to be grilling, if no one else has fuel for their grills. Ditto generators.
What we are going into will not be like that initially. As long as there is stuff to eat in the stores, you just have to be wary of those with no resources to purchase it. When meat and potatoes become scarce in the stores, then, you probably should not be shopping.
As a follow up on being prepared, keeping your feet warm in winter is key to comfort, especially if you lower your thermostat.
Walmart has just stocked Dickies’ thermal socks. Three pair for about 16 bucks. Appear to be very durable and comfortable.
Get some neoprene dive boots They are very warm and durable
I’m not well prepared nor do I know what that would look like, how could I/we. I have a little bit of savings, well short of the recommended buffer. I’ve been eating into that to replenish some supplies but going backward rapidly. Yeah I know start a garden, enter a co-op, buy bulk and store…but is that really prepared? Does not feel like it. I am scared shitless and about to turn 62. The world I knew and planned to grow old in is gone and the alienation alone is rough to deal with. I grieve for my kids and grandkids and yet, I remain the least listened to person in my circle because they are all sick of hearing about doom, gloom and politics.
Screwauger: Take heart! I’m 61 and no one listens to me, either, although my dogs will sit for treats, if they feel like it.
Try being 74. I’m still working! I will take care of me and help my loved ones. No more.
Now that’s funny! Love coming here to the treehouse comment section.
You are not alone. Those deniers will be knocking or banging on your door when everything goes sideways. Do what you can do. We should have all learned to stock up our pantries in the last few years. We need to be networking with our neighbors and friends. Any family that doesn’t want to participate is going to do what they do, anyway. The pandemic this country, and the world, suffers from is Willful Ignorance. Even the doctors are having a hard time keeping up the lies about the jabs. The amount of unexplained deaths is through the roof around the globe. What the media is not telling us is legion. We know it’s got to be bad, but it must be even worse than we can imagine. Get right with God, through Jesus. Now is the time. No offense intended. Good luck to you, and US all.
Screwauger, the fact is–even those who are “well prepared” will (much sooner than expected) see the exhaustion of their preparation (except for a small percentage who had extensive skills and finances)….once it all hits, most of us will be in the same situation. And those who are “well prepared”, in general terms, will be facing anxiety they thought they had avoided.
Try to minimize that “scared shitless” takes out of your days. You have resources that aren’t in focus. You have a capacity for enduring that is not used every day. Being scared burns Life Fuel that we can’t afford to waste. (Personal experience speaking there) S
No one knows how deep you can dig personally to take care of a sick loved one until you are faced with it. My husband suffered a debilitating stroke at the age of 51. I was 49 with two teenagers. He lived 17 more difficult years, but we made the best of it. I will face what is coming as it comes. I will trust in Christ and keep my ammo dry. Prayers for all. You’re stronger than you think.
Great words of wisdom.
Thanks for the words Gang, helpful to the Nth degree. I do have a good pantry stock and much of that being stuff in case the grid or something worse goes out like lifestraws and grains and powdered milk etc. I have handguns and rifles but not enough supplies for them to be of much use except as Sharon says, in the beginning. My ex always said Hollywood grooms the masses to accept what’s coming. I have never watched these zombie shows that are so popular for the past number of years but boy, it sure feels like they were softening the tolerances a bit. Thanks Again Treepers!!
I’m there with you Screwauger. My supplies are limited and even if they were great, in time they would run out if they were not replenished. I’ve been trying to learn how to replenish some of them by learning the land in the area where I live. The more I learn, the less I seem to know. I do enjoy learning the land though, something fulfilling about it. It also means not having to be a prisoner of your home by having the need to be there to protect your supplies.
I lived many years alone after my divorce at age 40. I could easily exist in the Great North Woods and make the best of the circumstances. My current partner would not do well, she refuses to accept our pending reality, and the mere site of an insect causes her to melt down. I sincerely hope our Nation does not come to these worst case scenarios but it seems more and more like the managed decline is willing and intended to weed out a few million “users” as its unspoken goal.
Our neighbors are a sad story.
Seven children, all home schooled by mom who also takes care of the home and cooks all the meals. Dad works, has a large garden, raises chickens and rabbits for food, takes is sons hunting, his sons butcher and pack the meat, and dad teaches his sons how to care for their family and ours if something big were to take place in this crazy world.
Dad’s talking about hard times that are about to hit was too much for mom, so mom kicked dad out.
I am sick to my stomach about the entire situation.
I am angry at the mom.
Here is a man who is willing to do everything to keep his family safe, and the little buttercup didn’t want her children to hear about boogey men.
So now he is gone, but waiting and praying for what will come next.
Pray with me that she will wake up and ask her godly husband to come back home.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. Proverbs 14:1
There is more going on in that relationship than you have been party to.
It is sad and unfortunate that things have gotten so bad that she prefers to go it alone with 7 kids in tow.
There are different types of abuse – some leave no bruises.
by rice and food grade storage bags or buckets. lots of rice. It’s cheap, nutritious, and can be stored for 20 years – same with dry beans
None of the commenters here, including me, actually know what it will look like when the hammer falls. Who among us have been through what may be coming? Those who say they know what’s coming are speculating at best.
The unknown is frightening. The best we can do is channel our fears toward action.
Buy goods as you are able. Reinforce relationships of like-minded friends, neighbors, and family (not all will be on board, certainly in my case). Try to enlighten as many sheep as you can.
If you’re not a follower of Christ, I encourage you to crack open a Bible and be open to The Word. There is great comfort in the knowledge that He is ultimately in control, despite our worldly machinations. He warned us of coming persecution and tribulation. However, He wins in the end, and our reward is not of this earth.
You have tens of millions of brothers and sisters who share your same fear and apprehension. With courage, will get through this together.
If you do not own multiple paper version of the Bible (for yourself, kids), buy them now. Do not expect the internet versions to remain available or unadulterated.
Seek like-minded people. One step at a time.
I’m 68 and no one listens to me either. I did get my son to buy a chest freezer and fill it, but, that is it. The wife is just-in-time type of shopper. Her dad was no help. Very Italian and said why would you freeze meat, it does not improve the flavor….yes, my son’s in-laws are jabbed, but, not any in his immediate family.
Just found out my local library has a seed bank. Great way to get free seeds from plants grown in your area.
I have started cleaning and saving seeds.
Have ordered and received more seeds this week. There are none in the stores. I’ve been prepping a flowerbed and some containers for carrots, peas, beans, spinach, beets, lettuce, and turnips. We’ll see how lucky I get with fall gardening.
Well I have enough for my family and me fo last quite nicely for almost a year.
After that, who knows what the world will be like.
I’m hoping people get off their butts over the next year and we all fix this.
Same here and that assumes we won’t have anything else available to us during that time. Where I struggle is what to do for the unprepared family, friends, and neighbors. I don’t think I can watch someone suffer and not help. But that mindset has never really come at the expense of my children so who knows?
I’ve told my children not to mention our stockpile but honestly I’m not sure they’re heeding me. Poking fun at their prepper mom seems like something they might do when comparing crazy parent stories with their friends.
In the UK milk prices have increase by 44% from Feb 2020 while in Ireland the increase has been 40%.
These are huge where increases over the past couple of decades have been small.
Which will of course usher in another round of more lies, propaganda, obfuscation and gaslighting from the media partners.
I am only prepared, Mr. Sundance, because I read and took to heart your carefully documented analyses. I also spent much time reading the suggestions of fellow treepers on that one thread, months ago, dedicated to preparation.
Thank you for showing us the way.
I remember and that would be a really good thread to have republished.
No one is ready to die.
I think (based on observation) that, more often than not, those “no ones” have assumed they would evade death. Not a reasonable position to take.
Not a reasonable assumption. Ever….and it wasn’t a reasonable assumption three years ago when everything was looking good. The fact that so many were making that assumption was dragged, screaming, into the bright light when covid appeared and we were told everyone was going to die.
Funny that they immediately believed the lying media and CDC, within weeks, when they hadn’t been believing what history and life experience was illustrating for them ever since they were—-oh, about 6-8 years old.
Actually, if you truly believe in the Lord, you are ready.
My Mom and Dad lived through the depression and Dad and four brothers fought in WW2. So l had a first hand accounts of the hardships they faced. Rationing was part of every day life and although times were tough they made it through. This is different than their experience in that our own government has planned and implement ed a policy to destroy our economy, Christian values and block our supply of energy and replace it with what? Unreliable wind and solar. Insects for humans eaten in a cold home, streets filled with illegals who’s welfare depend on food and heat. There’s not a doubt in my mind that doors will be kicked in and food will be stolen from the folks who grew it or purchased it. Smash and grab will happen in food markets and farms. Wherever. I’ve seen hungry kids on the dirt roads of Vietnam. Mother’s who have turned to prostitution to feed themselves and their children. This is just the beginning. If we don’t act to prevent what is happening it will escalate. Look to history. Growing up in the 50s and 60s we were well aware of what the Jews suffered in Europe. Survivors spoke in our schools. The showed the numbers tattooed on their arms. I want to believe it ain’t happening here but having lived 75 years now I’ve seen enough to realize that those freezers aren’t safe. And neither are we.
You’re safe if you’re prepared to defend it.
I have a locked gate, and it could be climbed.
I have 3 guard dogs who could be killed by invaders.
I have many, many, freedom seeds to take care of said invaders.
Use the 2nd
Are you home 24/7?
Freedom seeds.
I’m stealing…err…borrowi g that phrase.
I read many books, both fiction and non fiction, about WWII. One of the takeaways
for me is that the Jews said it all came about gradually and they always thought
cooler heads would prevail.
The other fact that stands out is that Hitler and his state media created so much
negative press about the Jews that the elites and ordinary neighbors wanted them
out of Germany no matter what it took.
Lost their humanity. People turned people in for protecting Jews. They turned
Jews in to the brownshirts who murdered entire families.
I shuddered when I saw online what Biden and others said about MAGA supporters.
Think it can’t happen here? Think again.
On NextDoor Digest, a community online forum, there were people threatening
to call the police on 12 year old boys not wearing masks while riding bicycles
during the pandemic. They were boycotting local stores because they saw an
employee with their mask under their nose. I had a lady scream at me
for going the wrong way down a grocery store aisle. These are the terrible
people that will turn you into the government for whatever.
Personal experience at Aldi this week:
1. Flour up 214% from December, 2020 (5 pounds, was 99 cents, now $2.12) – bought 1 to go with the 8 bags at home to get me through 2023. I bake every other week for a free dinner for those who need it and need flour for that.
2. Butter – up 34% per pound ($2.99 a couple months ago, now $3.99). I still have 11.5 pounds from the $1.99 sale run every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. If they have it on sale for $2.49 this year, I’ll consider myself very lucky.
Many items were up in price. Organic milk is up 31% this year, plain, cheap white bread up 52%, flour tortillas 96%, etc.
Missing items included full fat sour cream, organic tomatoes, regular string cheese etc., as well as low stock on other things.
As I said the other night, I’m buying for my own pantry as well as for my daughter and son-in-law because they don’t have a clue, no matter how I try to tell them.
I’m ready, at least for now. I’m canning pears tonight which I got for free when someone had picked their fill on their tree and offered them to whoever wanted them.
They had a butter sale at mine in January. It was $2.16 per pound. I got 48 pound. You could only have a maximum of 6 per purchase, so hubby and I had our own trolley, and we kept going back until the deal ended
Yep. I think I had 20 pounds in the freezer after Easter. I will stock up again if given the price opportunity.
If you have Kwik Trip gas station’s in your area they often sell butter @ $2.49 – limit 5. It’s been this price off and on this summer in Mpls. MN. It’s $2.49 this week, along with a loaf of white bread for .69.
I don’t believe we have them. We do have Circle K, Spinx and 7-11. They could probably sell butter but then wouldn’t have room for the walk in beer coolers that are the size of a small room. Priorities!!!
Will the ‘electricity’ still be “on” if and when TSHTF to run your freezers and fridges?!
Do you think the power plant workers are going to leave their families alone to go to work when the hoards of hungry savages leave their burning cities to hunt for food in the suburbs?
Dual fuel generators (gasoline & propane) are reasonably inexpensive. You only need to run them for about 15 to 20 minutes every three to four hours to keep freezer food frozen.
It extends your fuel life considerably. Also fill up plastic bottles with water to fill any extra space not used in the freezer.
Propane tanks last for up to 20 years, assuming they don’t leak.
Be Prepared!
If the electricity goes off for a long time, I and everyone else will have a lot more to worry about than our stockpile of butter.
…As I said the other night, I’m buying for my own pantry as well as for my daughter and son-in-law because they don’t have a clue, no matter how I try to tell them.”….
Wisdom and stewardship for your family. Well done.
Yep that’s what family does, particularly when the kids are oblivious.
Thank you.
How do you can your pears, basic water bath or something more sophisticated? Finally got my hands on more jars and would love to try pears. My kids love them.
Basic water bath, just like peaches. Also, try making pear crisp, much like an apple crisp and you can make it with or without the cinnamon and other spices. I don’t use them, just a little sugar. It’s a nice and unexpected dessert.
What I am fearing is that when this next wave of inflation hits, the shadow government behind Biden will be willing to do almost anything to distract the blind and ignorant from the pain of inflation. I am afraid of what lengths they will go to. Arrest Trump? Mass arrests of Republicans? Go to war with Russia? Go to war in Syria or Armenia? Stir up war between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan who are now practically at war? Cancel elections with a declaration of martial law? Send out their shock troops – Antifa and BLM – to terrorize, loot, kill, and destroy.
Thank you for your forewarning, Sundance.
Given what’s going on in Europe, positing war wouldn’t be too far-fetched. War obfuscates a lot. I still have evidence of the last big war, stuff that outlined the sacrifices my parents made in their daily lives. Society is far more fragmented and hostile now than it was back then and I daresay government more off the reservation than in recorded U.S. history.
What remains is whether patriots take advantage of war, or not; resigning themselves to survive, as outlined in the excellent suggestions in this thread. What decisions will we make?
Every week I drive my wife to her church, pick up food and transport it to the county food bank. This week it was 2 dozen rolls of paper towels and one package of toilet paper. The week before was a rather large box of various cosmetics. No food.
Food banks by me have been sending out flyers begging for food. Dog shelters are full up etc
People don’t have it to give away, and personally, if its being given to a youngster with no health issues, they should work for their box of food. Mowing a lawn, weeding for the elderly etc
the food banks receive most of their products from corporations
who donate to charitable food bank distributors
I know someone who was head of one in Wisconsin and toured
their facilities. Each week they would receive different items
from diapers and other paper products from Kimberly Clark
to fresh food and canned products from other large manufacturers.
The problem is that more and more people are using these
food banks and I don’t think the supply can keep up with the
demand.
I am of the mindset, everything we have right now are items to barter with. I won’t donate anything right now….not canned food, clothes, diapers, blankets, pots and pans, etc. nothing. Everything is a barter item. Call me names, shame me, I don’t care… this is about survival. We have a small group of people that we will share with and that is it.
Our house isn’t that big, so as I bring more in that others might need (actual stuff people might need), I’ve been getting rid of the stuff I’ve been saving for those “special events” to come.
Funny how the fancy do-das I’ve carried around most of my life suddenly mean nothing, and the old wool blanket means a lot.
And if the world goes on as usual, I will be glad God caused me to shake all that other stuff loose.
I sure need to emulate Your *Style* Raven !
If nothing else , my Only Child may Thank me one day 😄
Excellent Tip !
Thank You , Raven 💐
Thank you for the beautiful flower!
I, too, am optimistic we are well prepared if the ELECTRIC GRIDS are running. We have gone eight days straight without electric here on the farm and except for ruined stuff in the freezers we had wood heat for cooking, candles and old kerosene lamps for light after dark and the gravity spring gave us all the water we needed. Since we were the only ones out eight days, we could shop and do our banking.
However, we are not prepared if the electric grids are out all over the state. The stores have no windows so shopping with flashlights or candles would be scary. How would my social security check get to me? How could I get money out of my bank? Do credit card readers work without electric? Nobody but me seems to think electricity is in danger. How come?
Lots of people are very aware of this reality, merrie.
If nowhere else, in north-central Oregon.
18 months ago, I was without power for ten days because of a monster destructive ice storm. I live in a rural town of about 25,000. Power was out all over for 8-10 days, including city/suburb-of-Portland areas.
Your social security check wouldn’t get to you. You couldn’t get money out of your bank. Credit card readers do not work without electric. Get rid of the uncertainty (which feeds the fear) by dealing with obvious reality. Prepare the best you can. And then, just like the rest of us, you will go one hour at a time and figure out how to manage.
I haven’t always done that well and certainly don’t do it perfectly. That’s why I know how important it is, and I know that it DOES make a difference.
My advice is get your money out of the bank, and leave just enough for utilities etc
Many don’t understand that only 10% of deposits are real. The rest is paper conjured from air. You know you may have a $1000 deposited, but the bank only recognizes $100.
Buy junk silver, gold, and keep cash on hand for emergencies
People have long been indoctrinated to believe in and have confidence in infrastructure, like the power grid. Think back a century ago when the cities were being electrified, how quickly people came to depend on electricity and have faith in the unseen power being there.
In widespread SHTF with a destroyed or unusable power grid, the convenience stuff would be cast aside and we’d be down to essential survival. Everyone would be in the same boat more or less.
How did people live in the 19th century and prior? Somehow humanity survived, thrived and gave us our industrial and information revolutions. If we go through dark ages to get to a new place, all part of the journey. Humans have done it before, many times.
In 1800 there were around one billion humans, now there are eight times that many. Electricity enabled much of that increase as did things like penicillin. I’m beginning to understand how I would be affected.
Much of the huge populations of India and China are already living as we did in 1800
Those are great examples of the ebb and flow of humanity. We can examine the very long era of the Roman Empire for parallels. Periodically, throughout human history, conflict and disease cull the population. History is replete with examples. In some of our lifetimes, just outside of mine, we lost, what, 3% of the world’s population in the WW2 era? That doesn’t include the percentages lost during the Soviet scourge, mostly confined to their sphere of conquest.
Those populations you refer to in India and China and I’d probably add in swaths of Africa to that, they’ve been around a long time and are still around, even with the, to our view, antiquated and perhaps even primitive lifestyles. Is longevity similar? IDK, perhaps not. Quality of life? Same, from our viewpoint anyway. From theirs? IDK, can’t read their minds.
I like to view those examples as ‘different’, as different as we may yet become. The future is largely unknown. We make plans, think we have it all figured out, and then life happens.
If the power goes out for any length of time the government can’t track us.
So it ain’t gonna happen.
The ‘power grid’ as it were is like a tasteless lamp from France –
It’s Fra-jill-aye.
This was my thought process as well.
I am 77 years old, a widow and pretty well prepared with food. My concern is medication. I am a diabetic, insulin dependent, and fully expect shortages of medicine.
Every once in a while say you lost your meds, and start stockpiling the extras
Walmart has cheap meds compared to other places.
Have your doctor give you a new prescription
and take it to a new place and pay cash.
Then, continue with your old prescription at
the first place that your insurance will pay for.
You get an extra 1-3 months
Walmart even has their own brand of insulin too.
I too am a diabetic. If my sugars are low take dandelion root tea. If my sugars are high take prickly pear (noples) cactus tablets (the cactus itself is slimy textured. I did can some prickly pear and apple juice just in case things go bad). I would find the nearest health food store and stock up on these two items. Also, get enough test strips to keep track of your blood sugars. But you must keep track of the expiration date. It might not be as perfect as modern medicines but at least you can stay alive with it.
Natural remedies all around us, that’s for sure.
Last month my husband talked to his doctor and told her that he was concerned that if something big happens in the world he may be without his prescriptions. He asked if she’d give him a prescription to get a years worth of drugs at one time. She said yes.
No one pharmacy has wanted to fill that prescription, but by going to different pharmacies he now has a years worth of bp meds and will be building onto that.
Also, look for natural remedies for prescriptions you have. In the event my hubby runs out of bp meds, I’ve got a few natural remedies for him to take, and I pray they do the job even better than big pharma drugs.
Try to order extra meds online if you can.

I am happy that some are well-prepared. My household is prepared, but not for another 12 years of President Uniparty, with Deep State on the drums and backup by the Ambitious Congressional Clowns.
Oh, and I just wanted to shout out to Chris and the gang. Keep up the good work boys, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty!
Well prepared to suffer at least….
Been practicing a lot the last couple years. I think the hardest part for most folks will be taking human life in self defense. Most of us are peaceful, loving people. It’s an ugly world out there though. Most of us have personally or had family members kill or be killed in wars so there is some guidance there.
The rest is pretty basic stuff that people with elementary intellect can master. Remember all the folks of little education and limited means who survived the Dust Bowl and Depression. People work it out.
One huge advantage we have that they didn’t is the information revolution. Don’t overlook books though. When the internet goes poof, books will still be there, chock full of knowledge. Build a practical library if not already done.
When I was a kid it was the Merck Manual for medicine and Funk and Wagnalls for practical knowledge. Right in the house in dad’s office. Sill have the Merck; great resource about basic medicine.
Suffering seems less when shared. Relationships are important. Those of us who live alone can benefit from them even if not ‘needing’ them. Same with faith. It all matters.
Btw- for those who want to buy in bulk from Costco but don’t want to pay a membership- just get a Costco gift card- doesn’t matter the amount- shop for what you want and the cashier will let you pay the difference anyway you like. Been doing this for years 🤣
I must confess, I’m increasing my large flock of chickens. I helped 2 families start their own flocks. And they give extra eggs to people in their church families. Warms my heart to be the crazy ol’ chicken lady. 🙂
My mother used to raise rabbits for food, but I was already married and out of the home by then. I wish I would have paid more attention to the process. I remember her having problems with a weasel or mink cannot remember which. But I think I will look into buying a cage or two. One for girls and one for boys. 🙂 Then set up a breeding program according to food needs. I think rabbit raising is out of the radar of the Earth people. They seem to be concentrating on the “familiar food items like beef, chicken and pork.” Sheep and rabbits not so much.
would love a tutorial
my daughter and I are planning on doing that
All according to Plan, apparently.
The plandemic kicked it off. Sure, that caused slowdown and dysfunction, but it was contrived by govt. They even made it worse by harmful maltreatment and by suppressing effective protocols like FLCCC that could have ended it in 2020. US govt contrived.
Then the biden cabal started hobbling US energy on his first day in office and has continued adding more hobbling, to date. US govt contrived.
The Russia sanctions took the energy strangulation to the next level. US govt contrived.
The govt puppet Fed now raising rates, which will start shutting down more economic activity. US govt contrived.
OK, we see what is happening. Are “we the people” able to correct the wrong course of this US govt?

Vax stats out of GB:
1 month after, 1 in 482 dead
2 month after, 1 in 246 dead
As of May 2022, 1 in 73 dead.
Hate to say more vaxxed means less mouths. Others saying, Dr Sheri Tenpenney, vaxxed are terminal. Sad.
Have you seen how dysfunctional the batches were and how “bad”(spoiled) batches had little to no effect inside people?
They lied about safe and effective, that proves its unsafe and ineffective. But what is left to question is, how unsafe is it?
Anything from 1 death to 100% falls in that range and since these were so poorly tested, we simply don’t have those numbers over 5, 10, 15 years. So it is conjecture to suggest it is certainly terminal, but it is possible. But like everything these diabolical idiot savants do, it’s not likely to be perfect. So if their goal was total depopulation, then it is a safe assumption that they failed at that. And so, how badly did they fail in their plan, 1 person survives the VAX unaffected or 100% survive it? (Well, 100% is rules out since people have died already, but for all we know, the dying is going to slow soon. Again, we are watching the study happen in real life, so it’s anyone’s guess).
My hope and consolation is the mRNA degraded so badly they pose little threat to those who only got one or two jabs. After that don’t have hope.
“Hate to say” it? Then don’t. Some treepers got the shots. I’m one of them. Really weary of people projecting when I’m going to leave this planet. I’m “terminal” when God calls me home. And technically, we’re all “terminal.”
Sorry for you. Hopefully the mRNA was so degraded it poses no threat to you. That’s my hope. What has happened to my fellow humans breaks my heart.
I went to the store yesterday, first time in two weeks, and there were some jaw dropping prices on a variety of items. I think I am not going to pay that price, I go to a different store, and things were even more expensive.
We’ve shopped sales for decades. We’ve been through those times these times are compared to and we made it. There’s hope. With God all things are possible. God bless you.
Auto and Home insurance aren’t on that above table.Premiums are rising dramatically especially on Home insurance. I know one carrier that has told me that they were raising premiums up to 25% in PA. We are getting squeezed at every point.
P.S. Get right with God this is NOT a dress rehearsal!
In Florida too, insurance companies are pulling out. Our fixed mortgage payment isn’t too bad, it is the taxes and insurance added on that is squeezing us.
I listed, several weeks ago, about seven different fixed expenses I have that are subject to rate increases every year, and recently several of them have notified their customers that beginning in Jan. 2023, fixed increases will be tied to the rate of inflation…..so it continues to be true that social security increases, no matter how large they are, are sucked into oblivion the minute they are implemented. And then, as inflation continues (beyond the amount of inflation that dictated the increase, we continue to have less spending power.
So as each notification of an increase comes, I make a note of it on my little chart. I expect that by the end of December, there will be no actual social security increase in terms of dollars.
they will raise medicare rates along with the social security increase lol
Paid my auto insurance this week. The premium was up only 6.9% even though we had a big hailstorm across my area of town in January. It was a daytime hailstorm so lots of vehicles were away from their garages and sustained damage.
I was relieved to see how small the increase was. I fully expected to have to pay more.
The power is in the states. Texas and Florida the unification process is starting right before our eyes. Both states Texas and Florida are shipping illegals to blue sanctuary cities. Other Red states need to join Texas and Florida and complete the process. Imagine if all Red states spoke with one unified voice . Biden would have a coronary right where he is!
Agree. All red states need to unify and continue the illegal alien rehoming in the blue states. Preferably in the uppity areas. I hope RD continues to send the illegals, I am not sure he will. I feel like he did it for political points with MAGA supporters. We shall see.
Please Lord.
Food prices are no doubt high and it’s having a big impact on people’s wallets. For many months I’ve noticed that few items were on sale than usual. However in recent weeks I have seen sale prices at least start returning to historical levels. The non-sale prices are still crazy high though.
If you know how to shop sales- buy enough until the next sale- you can keep your costs from the astronomical range. Use coupons, store digital coupons and cash back offers, and rewards programs like Ibotta and Fetch. The biggest thing is to be flexible with your brands. It took me a long time to convince hubby that big name brands weren’t always the best brand.
If you don’t like stores tracking you with shoppers cards, you are able to create store accounts with an email address. Pay cash or use a store gift card to pay. I used to shop at Aldi, but my Aldi is now at the same price point with Kroger and we get gas rewards with Kroger and better prices with sale items.
Also, this is the time of year that canned soups are on sale. Stock up now if you are a soup person. I have also read that there will be a tomato shortage due to the California crops, so get your ketchup, canned tomatoes and jar pasta sauces now.
This is one deal that I am doing this week that uses the Kroger Cashback and Ibotta:
Arm & Hammer Toothpaste on sale for $3.49
Kroger Cashback is offering $2 off which can be redeemed 5 times
Ibotta is offering $2 reward up to 5 times
I will make .51 for each tube of toothpaste.
Many in Europe have gone far into acceptance and adoption of digital age technology; even though there have been active effective groups fighting all this. Today’s news points to another stage towards a global control; to the days coming when everyday life activities to conduct personal, educational, work or business affairs, or just to survive requires people to be ‘identifiable’ .. and if you have money or assets AND, they are worth anything, everything people need to do or pay for at the banks, hospitals, stores, whatever; one needs to be on their ID data bank.
The EU is Speeding Towards Digital ID, Currency, and Biometric Systems for Tracking Citizens
“A consortium of six European nations is pushing for a new, digital, cross-border payment system which ultimately aims to combine the EU Digital Identification program with a digital euro. The NOBID (Nordic-Baltic eID) project – which is comprised of the governments of Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Latvia and Norway – is being supported by multinational banks, large technology firms, and other government agencies from across Europe.”
I’ve always been sure the the Mark of the Beast points to the days when it is A SYSTEM people will be co-erced, forced or duped or buy into narratives (‘convenience’ and everybody is doing it’ being the most persuasive) into adopting this mark – which is becoming increasingly clear involves chips, biometrics, surveillance.
Given majority adoption globally, Al drones with tracking abilities will take over population control over the masses when all it needs is face recognition, chip IDs etal. I vaguely remember a frightening movie my brothers were spooked and asked me to watch when I was still very young that there could be such a thing happening. Not being a science fiction or TV fan since young, I don’t remember the name or series of movies or were they a TV series.
I just heard reports that the Apple crop in Michigan this year is huge.
Every year I dehydrate thin sliced apples and bag them up real pretty as Christmas gifts.
Everyone looks forward to them. It takes the money stress out of the season.
My Kroger (Columbus OH division- which the union has now authorized today to go on strike but they haven’t yet) has their Private Selection spices buy 1, get 1 free this week. I’m seriously considering buying some to throw in Christmas gift baskets for family members this year.
I think food gifts will be very appreciated this Christmas.
When I was in Kroger’s yesterday, the spices were well stocked. There was a buy two get one free special. Italian seasoning was on my list, so I took advantage of that offer. Although I don’t usually eat much pasta, I expect that to be changing.
I decided last year that I was done buying gifts for great nieces and nephews. They get soooo much and have wealthy and caring grandparents so they are lacking for nothing. I made goodie bags with 6 different types of cookies and fudge plus a jar of homemade applesauce to give to each family a well as the childless could. Everyone really liked the cookies but they LOVED the applesauce. I’m making even more this year to give and to stock my pantry.
Homemade applesauce is the best. 😋
Back in June, there was an article (Moodys) saying the average family was paying $460 a month more for typical items than a year ago.
Has anyone seen an updated number since then?
Thanks
There has to be food piling up in warehouses. I know of two Krogers near us that are making displays in the center of the wide perimeter aisles and extending end cap displays a bit more into the crossing aisles. Mostly junk foods, Power drinks and some breads and burger rolls. All summer I’ve seen this. It’s almost like they’re having to shove slow-moving stuff into the stores because there’s no more distribution space. I’d guess each store has the equivalent of a 53′ trailer in palletized stuff on the floor where none used to be.
Entenmann’s things are priced 50% off (B1G1F) and they’re within three weeks of the expiration date. I’m sure all the bagged salty snacks will be marked down soon. Once this clog is freed up, I’ll bet there will be fewer of those items available because the order quantities are reduced. And the beat goes on…
Your Kroger has the bread and chips that my Kroger is always empty of lol.
Maybe they are just loading whatever in the semis and sending random stuff to stores.
Our equivalent (Fred Meyer) has reduced shelving, has stopped carrying items, and is frequently out of what I consider high-frequency items (fresh produce, soy milk and tofu, bread products). They leave end displays with large sections of tossed-in canned and boxed items, I suspect because shelving them takes a lot longer. They are clearing out the clothing sections, too, much of the stuff is up to 80% off (but living in the PNW, maybe the purchasers of adult costume pajamas and theme socks are finally maxed out on credit cards). Our local Walmart is about the same. I wonder if it is not that we are farther from the distribution center, and they are not willing to pay for the fuel for more deliveries. You may be getting the hot dog buns unavailable here.
I believe that fundamentally Build Back Better is about world powers clashing over the increasingly scarce resources which have supplied the First World’s living style and prosperity since the end of World War II.
Powerful players are moving their pawns into place as what was once unthinkable, food shortages in major Western countries, become increasingly frequent.
If a tyrannical regime was looking for a way to install full blown dictatorship it would do so by inciting riots and enticing rebellion. Food shortages, control of the media, severe inflation would be in their arsenal. Whatever they can do to get the population in the streets so they can bring “law and order” via a benevolent dictator.
Anyone who doesn’t understand that the US & the western world are headed into an economic downturn of monumental proportions just isn’t paying attention. The sovereign debt crisis, worldwide, is out of control and unmanageable. Most people think the party is going to continue forever. No, no, no…
The Federal Reserve operates under the theory that a country that controls it’s own fiat currency can print as much money as it wants without consequence. Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). It’s basically a socialist/communist system of money creation. It is NOW failing! The entire world wide sovereign debt is estimated to be in the hundreds of trillions of dollars. This is insane and is totally unmanageable.
The Federal Reserve’s, and central banks around the world, solution to debt crisis has always been to print more money. The party is over! Inflation is an out of control monster.
We are facing a monetary, debt and economic crisis that has the potential to be worse than the Great Depression. Most Americans are too stupid to see what is developing. The money changers and the banksters know exactly what we are facing. It’s total financial armageddon and it’s right around the corner.
It’s only prudent to take action now and prepare for the coming crisis. We’re running out of time. Lots of things to be done.
By the way Dementia Joe and the Democrats are going to blame Putin and/or Trump or anything but their policies. The same Americans who volunteered for Fauci’s magic juice are going to swallow the coming media propaganda surrounding the coming collapse.
Good time to review J.K.Galbraith’s classic book “The Great Crash”. As they say, history may not exactly repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes.
At some point in time, when the prices for everything necessary for a reasonable lifestyle just get too high, all across the board, the consumers are going to have to make some serious decisions on what they can afford to purchase to survive.
What surprises me is that the big companies & corporations that seem to be going along with this economic situation are really just cutting their own throats by playing along ( IF they are. Sure seems like it though) with the current price increases due to really BAD policies by gubments that are causing suffering to their citizens. Surely they can see what is on the horizon right in front of them, don’t they?
Really… Just how long will it be that prices for food, shelter, utilities, etc., just get to the point where the companies/corporations just won’t have the income coming in to pay anyone?
Their employees, managerial staff, etc., let alone any stockholders getting positive returns on their investments.
They also have to pay for the resources that help them produce their products, and so the vicious circle continues until it cannot any more.
While we here discuss how we are trying to survive thru our shared advice/comments & tips with each other, and that in itself is a good thing; It makes me wonder how all of these companies & corporations & their “leadership” ( boards/share-stock holders/whatever) plan to make out for themselves when they realize that their own wealth & investments are going to turn to crap when they can’t get anything themselves, because all of the folks who work for them to produce things, need more wages to compensate for their even going to work. but the income for the businesses has dwindled to where there is not enough income to keep the businesses going.
Maybe I am not thinking clearly, as it is late & I am tired, but I think this situation is going to have an effect all the way up the chain as well, & not just down to the lower end.
Why would anyone want to see this happen if they were in business? I ran my business for over 32 years & can’t fathom how the folks in business just don’t see how this is gonna work out if it continues as it has been this last couple years with such bad economic decisions being pushed all over the “West”. ( <the Yellow countries on that map Sundance posts on occasion)
It just plain escapes me, the motivations these business owners have, to ruin their marketplace & consumer base, seemingly without care, when it is certainly gonna catch up to “them” as well in the end & not just the consumers/purchasers of their products…
Rambling thoughts done. Hope that I did not take up too much space here. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit.
G’nite & GOD Bless ya’ll. We all can use a bit of that, I’d reckon. 😉
They think they only need robots and a fraction of the number of employees they have to survive. Most of them do not think about the lack of customers at the other end of this. Many of them are being threatened by governments, by political parties, etc.

We are somewhat prepared… feels like death by a thousand cuts
I hear ya. One week I feel good about what I’ve accomplished in preparations, and the next week a new shortage or calamity comes about and I’m rushing to prepare for that. It’s actually pretty exhausting.
Without this site, I would be nowhere ready for what is coming.
This man does a daily Boots on the Ground update from viewer reports about price changes, availability, store hours, etc.
One thing he stresses over and over is the importance of checking expiration dates before purchasing items. Sometimes that is not an assurance of quality of the food.
Interesting tidbit: One viewer reported that the local Walmart had a row of port-a-potties outside. The problem was that shoplifting has gotten worse and people are stopping up the toilets with packaging from which they are removing items they are stealing.
God’s in control!! A little pain but a lot of gain! Be happy!!
“Wave 3 food price increases are likely to be higher than the prior two waves combined.”
The Biden administration is all over this and tirelessly working 24/7 on avoiding responsibility, and determining who to blame.
It all starts with Biden killing off us oil production through the renovation of drilling permits.
Un agenda 2030 calls for 30% population reduction, and it’s obvious white people are the enemy of the us gov and need to be eliminated.
Meanwhile, I’m watching the Penn State/Auburn game and the network puts forward a reminder (a full ad) for everyone to receive the latest Covid booster shot.
We live in an orthogonal culture.
